Drunk on Power: Michigan Dem AG Threatens To Jail Opponent

After the Republican opponent ofMichigan attorney general Dana Nesselcriticized the Democrat for refusing to enforce the state's abortion ban, Nessel threatened to jail the candidate.

Jeff Timmer, a senior adviser for the Nessel campaign, tweeted on Wednesday that his boss's Republican challenger Matt DePerno has to "remain unindicted" to qualify for a debate. Timmer tweeted the threat just after DePerno criticized Nessel's refusal to enforce the state's 1931 abortion ban following the Supreme Court's overturn of Roe v. Wade.

"Consider this an official campaign response," Timmer tweeted. "I can commit that Dana will debate you. All you have to do is (1) become the official GOP nominee (2) remain unindicted and (3) allow Dana to Mirandize you at the beginning of the debate. Easy-peasy, right? Lemme know."

Nessel, who is best known for her drunken exit on a wheelchair at a college football game, as well as her call for "drag queens for every school," has a history of threatening political opponents with jail time. As attorney general, she brought charges against former Republican Michigan governor Rick Snyder in relation to the Flint water crisis, but the state's Supreme Court dropped the charges. Emails obtained in a public information request also show Nessel attempted to have restaurant owner Marlena Hackney arrested before she appeared on Tucker Carlson Tonight to discuss why she defied the state's pandemic lockdown order.

"Do we know her whereabouts?" Nessel wrote in an email. "We should just have her picked up before she goes on. This is outrageous."

Hackney was arrested seven days later.

DePerno rose to national fame after he challenged the 2020 election results in Michigan’s Antrim County. He is not under investigation but has faced criticism for withholding information about how he spends funds raised in support of an election audit.

DePerno said Nessel uses her power in office as a political weapon.

"It just shows she is getting more and more drunk on power and reckless with each passing day," DePerno told the Washington Free Beacon. "She has no shame in her actions and that is now very clear to the public."

Timmer reportedly joined Nessel’s campaign in October after years of experience working for the Michigan Republican Party. He is also a senior adviser to the Lincoln Project, whose cofounder John Weaver left the organization in disgrace amid accusations of sexual misconduct toward young men. The group reached a $375,000 legal settlement in February with an official who accused the super PAC of ignoring the misconduct allegations.

Gustavo Portela, the deputy chief of staff of the Michigan GOP, said Nessel should focus on actual crime, which has spiked under her rule.

"Dana Nessel is more consumed with jailing Michiganders who oppose her ideology than going after actual criminals making our streets and neighborhoods less safe," Portela told the Free Beacon. "It's no wonder crime has gone up under her watch. We're going to end her drunk-on-power tirades this fall when we defeat her in November."

Neither Nessel's campaign nor her office responded to requests for comment.

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) vacated and remanded a number of cases centered on an “assault weapons” ban in Maryland, a “high capacity” magazine ban in California, and carry restrictions in Hawaii.

Among the cases are Bianchi v. Frosh, challenging Maryland’s “assault weapons” ban; Young v. Hawaii, which deals with carry restrictions in Hawaii; and Duncan v. Bonta, which challenges California’s “high capacity” mag ban.

A challenge to New Jersey’s “high capacity” ban was also among the cases vacated and remanded.

Bloomberg Law noted that in remanding the cases Justice Clarence Thomas wrote, “While that judicial deference to legislative interest balancing is understandable—and, elsewhere, appropriate—it is not deference that the Constitution demands here.”

Justice Thomas wrote the majority opinion in that case, noting, “We too agree, and now hold, consistent with Heller and McDonald, that the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to carry a handgun for self-defense outside the home.”

BREAKING: UPS cancelling gun dealers’ accounts, destroying packages in transit

United Parcel Service is terminating the accounts of gun dealers across the country. Any packages currently in the UPS system may be “seized and destroyed.”

In a letter sent to one Florida gun dealer, Ghost Firearms, UPS said they were terminating the account because they “may be violating” laws concerning homemade firearm parts.

“We write to inform you that UPS has learned that your company may be violating applicable laws concerning the shipment of “ghost guns” to unauthorized locations,” the letter states. “In light of our concern, UPS has determined that it will cancel your account, effective immediately.

Ghost’s owner, Joe Zatar was told all scheduled pickups will be cancelled, and that he cannot reopen another UPS account or ship anything from a UPS store or website.

He is most concerned about the packages already in the UPS system, which he may have already lost.

“Please note that any package found in the UPS system determined to have been tendered by GHOST FIREARMS may be seized and destroyed,” the letter states.

“I just shipped more than $30,000 worth of products,” he said.

Zatar immediately called his UPS sales rep, who said he had no idea the account was terminated.

Ghost Firearms sells uppers, lowers, handguards and OEM parts for a number of manufacturers. They also sell 80% receivers.

“We do not ship to states where they’re not allowed,” Zatar said. “We are in total compliance. We had ATF in here just two weeks ago, and they told us we were completely legal.”

Retail giant Brownells told their customers in a Fake-Fact-Checker Facebook post Friday that they too were terminated by UPS.

“Heads up! UPS has made the decision to no longer accept Brownells packages,” the post states. “We are working to put an email together to send to customers who have their account defaulted to UPS, or who have open orders with UPS selected as the carrier.”

Brownells did not specify in their post the reason why UPS terminated their account, and they removed the post after a few hours.

UPS’ Media Relations personnel did not return calls or emails seeking comment for this story.

Just because Mark Zuckerberg announced that he would not fund election administration again does not mean the group he and his wife gave the bulk of their $419 million in donations to won’t. In April, the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL) announced that it was shifting to a new model. The organization will join with several others and spend $80 million over the next five years “to help meet the needs of election departments across the country,” according to Tianna Epps-Johnson, CTCL Executive Director.

Epps-Johnson described the new group, the Alliance for Election Excellence (the Alliance), as a non-partisan collaboration of election officials, technologists, and other experts working across all 50 states to improve election processes. The Audacious Project at TED funds the Alliance. The Audacious Project’s list of 2021-2022 award recipients displays an obvious left-wing slant:

The 2021-2022 recipients are The Center for Tech and Civic Life, ClimateWorks: Drive Electric, Code for America, Glasswing International, The International Refugee Assistance Project, myAgro, Noora Health, The Tenure Facility, and Woodwell Climate Research Center.

Epps-Johnson’s mischaracterization could result from left-wing blindness that makes coalition members oblivious to their own bias, but “non-partisan” is not an accurate description. Epps-Johnson was an inaugural Obama Foundation intern and served as the Elections Director of the New Organizing Institute (NOI). The CTCL is the successor organization of NOI and an example of how left-wing nonprofits change their names and keep their leaders. The new Alliance also includes decidedly left-wing organizations:

Supreme Court Targets the Real Enemy

The flurry of rulings from the Supreme Court has everyone’s head spinning. The most significant among them, even if it doesn’t capture all the headlines, is West Virginia vs EPA. The majority opinion is impressive but the part I found truly wonderful is the concurring opinion by Neil Gorsuch. This is where we see things headed, toward a major and much-welcome curbing of the power of the administrative state.

Just to review what this thing is, it is the unelected bureaucracy that rules the country without oversight from voters or legislatures. For well over 100 years, most courts have given it a pass, just assuming that the “experts” in the bureaucracies are handling things just fine, faithfully interpreting legislation, and merely creating rules for easy compliance.

Generations have gone by as this 4th branch of government has grown in size, scope, and strength. For the most part, its baneful impositions have been felt by one business or one industry at a time. You have heard the stories. The car dealer complains of how the Department of Labor is making him crazy. The machine-parts manufacturer is going bonkers about letters from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The energy company can never satisfy the Environmental Protection Agency.

They are stories and we find them unfortunate but we’ve generally avoided thinking of these as systematic, all pervasive, and truly dangerous to the idea of freedom itself. However, there are some 432 of these agencies. The authors of the Declaration of Independence noted their existence back in the day when they accused the English king of having “erected a Multitude of new Offices, and sent hither Swarms of Officers to harass our People, and eat out their Substance.” They fought a revolution to end the tyranny but now we have a home-grown form, starting in 1883 with the Pendleton Act and continuing throughout the 20th century as each new administration creates its own bureaucracy.

The thing has taken on a power of its own. Strangely, the topic hardly comes up at all during elections, and this is for a reason. Politicians running for office like to advertise their power to make change. They might even believe it. In reality, elected officials have very little influence over the conduct of public life relative to the administrative state. As Trump found it, not even the president is a match for the deep state.

Here is what has happened since March 2020: the beast showed its face. Seemingly out of nowhere, these strange agencies and people for whom we never voted were ruling our lives. They restricted travel, forced us to cover our faces, closed our churches and schools, and forbid our businesses from operating unless they were big enough to afford a powerful lobbying arm in Washington. The whole scene was appalling. It caused many people—including some earnest judges—to take notice.

Once you see the problem, you cannot unsee it.

Consider the problem with inflation alone: it is largely the responsibility of the Federal Reserve, which is among the most terrifying of the deep-state agencies. This thing was founded in 1913 with the promise that it would end “wildcat banking” and contain the expansion of money and credit so that we would have a more stable economic environment to encourage growth.

Even now, people believe that the Fed is going to somehow fix recessions and inflations, even though a deeper analysis reveals that the Fed itself is the cause of both. The Fed cannot be both the problem and the solution, surely. This is becoming as obvious as the fact that the CDC cannot make a textbook pathogen go away with power and potions.

Let’s take a quick look at the supposed 2 percent inflation target of the Federal Reserve. It might seem to you that they have long ago blown past this such that it is entirely cosmetic. But the Fed has a little trick up its sleeve. It says it doesn’t follow conventional inflation indexes like the Consumer or Producer Price Index. It is fancier than that. It follows instead the index of Personal Consumption Expenditures. And sure enough when we look at the PCE, we find that the Fed is pretty good at its job!

All that changed recently when the PCE itself blew up. Now the Fed has been revealed to be utterly incompetent, in a way that is not different from the CDC, NIH, DOL, DOE, DOT, HHS, DHS, FTC, SEC, and all the rest of these glorified 3-letter agencies employing nearly 3 million people who cannot be fired or controlled. The unique feature of our times is that the expert class in government has been unmasked as fakes at best and unrelenting menaces as worst.

A German journalist living in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region has been criminally charged by the German government for interviewing Ukrainian citizens and reporting her findings.

Independent reporter, 28-year-old Alina Lipp, moved to the Donbas area six months ago, where she transmits first-hand information to her audience in German, Russian, and English from her telegram channel.

Lipp claims she is only doing what any journalist would do — interviewing citizens and documenting what is happening around her.

The journalist explained she is “doing interviews with people in Donetsk and merely translating them into German.”

“I am simply filming everything I see around,” Lipp added.

She inquired rhetorically “what is it that’s illegal in that, or dangerous?”

The controversy around Lipp began in March when one of her videos explaining the history and the context of the war went viral.

In Lipp’s viral video, she said, “you need to understand that Russia has been asking for eight years that the Minsk agreement be upheld. Ukraine did not adhere to it, nor did they approach the Donbas region in an attempt to come to agreement.”

“Instead, they have been bombing the outskirts of the Donbas region for eight years. They are shooting at civilians, who now also have to live in completely shot-up houses. Very many people have died here,” Lipp continued.

In the video, Lipp alleged that the Donbas citizens who overwhelmingly voted to secede from Ukraine in 2014 had been, “thankful that Russia finally did something”.

Google says it will delete location history for visits to abortion clinics after overturning of Roe v. Wade

Google said late Friday that it will work to quickly delete location history for people going to abortion sites and other medical sites following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade last week.

“Today, we’re announcing that if our systems identify that someone has visited one of these places, we will delete these entries from Location History soon after they visit,” wrote Jen Fitzpatrick, Google’s senior vice president of core systems and experiences, in a blog post.

Fitzpatrick noted that visits to places like counseling centers, domestic violence shelters, abortion clinics and fertility centers “can be particularly personal.” Google parent Alphabet owns highly popular devices and data services, including Android, Fitbit, Search and Google Maps. That’s become a greater concern since the Supreme Court ruling, because of uncertainty surrounding whether sensitive data could be used to target what is now potentially criminal activity.

Google’s post says, “Fitbit users who have chosen to track their menstrual cycles in the app can currently delete menstruation logs one at a time, and we will be rolling out updates that let users delete multiple logs at once.”

This building on Sloane Avenue, between Ixworth Place and the Marlborough Primary School, was once a Harrods depository. It was built in 1911 and clad in terracotta and granite. The terracotta and Edwardian Baroque style giving it the same appearance as the main Harrods store in Knightsbridge.

In 1994 Stanton Williams were given a brief to, "create 140,000 square feet of speculative new office space, shops and a restaurant while retaining the partial existing terracotta elevations of the existing building." To do that they used glass, metal and stone to, "... extend and complement the terracotta facades to produce a sensitive contemporary design that gained support from the planners. Two interlocking L-shaped forms were created, one solid in appearance and the other glazed and transparent. Natural light was captured with a 30 metre long glass-roofed atrium built between the two forms, to create an inspiring work space. A solid projecting canopy created a roof terrace and reduced midday glare in the atrium. Delicate steel and glass bridges and spiral stairs were introduced to animate the space."

On June 7, 2012, an article was posted on the "CoStar Group" website claiming that the owners of the building were about to sell the building for £115m. At the time they said that, " ... The property comprises 89,112 sq ft of offices arranged over the four upper floors, with floor plates of around 22,000 sq ft. What was it that could’ve upset this man so much that he’d fly across the country with the intent to assassinate a sitting Supreme Court justice? Ah, that’s right: He told police he intended to break into Kavanaugh’s house and kill him because he was upset about the leaked abortion opinion and the Uvalde school shooting.

Joe Biden never once addressed this attempted assassination directly. Oh, he released an anodyne statement written by some staffer and parroted by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, but not a word otherwise. That in itself is disgraceful.

And here he was yesterday, on the world stage, just a week removed from the most meaningful (and, for Democrats, maddening) Supreme Court decision in half a century, and he denounces that co-equal branch of American government as “destabilizing” and decries its “outrageous behavior.”

Setting aside the unprecedented nature of a U.S. president attacking the Supreme Court on foreign soil, and setting aside the utter lack of decorum and decency that attends to such an attack, what are deranged leftists to make of Biden’s language? Is it a call to arms from their president? Are there any other would-be assassins out there, or was this sick young man a one-off in a country of 330 million?

And where is Attorney General Merrick Garland in all this? Intimidating judges is against the law in this country. And if Joe Biden’s words weren’t meant to intimidate the justices and rile up his Mob, then what exactly was their purpose?

A few weeks ago, amid all the picketing in front of the Supreme Court justices’ suburban homes, two concerned governors — Virginia’s Glenn Youngkin and Maryland’s Larry Hogan — sent a letter to Garland to remind him that there are laws against trying to influence or intimidate federal judges by picketing “near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge.”

The letter was to no avail. But Biden’s words are even more disgraceful. He’s the president, after all. During fraught times, he’s supposed to be the Consoler-in-Chief, not the Arsonist-in-Chief.

Language like this is unlawful because it “endeavors to influence, intimidate, or impede.” This is spelled out in Title 18, Section 1503 of the U.S. Code.

As National Review’s Andrew McCarthy wrote about the leftist mobs a few weeks ago: “The threat that protests will corrupt judicial proceedings — causing decisions to be made out of fear rather than faithful application of the law — is too great. Political pressure is for policy debates. It can have no place in judicial proceedings if we are to have the rule of law.”

Why does Joe Biden get a pass? What were his words if not “political pressure”? Or, now that the Court has rendered its decision, is it open season on intimidating justices?

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said it well:

Attacking a core American institution like the Supreme Court from the world stage is below the dignity of the President. Beyond that, President Biden’s attacks on the Court are unmerited and dangerous. He’s upset that the Court said the people, through their elected representatives, will have a say on abortion policy. That does not destabilize democracy — it affirms it. By contrast, it is behavior like the President’s that undermines equal justice and the rule of law.

Again: Where is Merrick Garland? And where are the adults in the Democrat Party?

Thanks to Bidenflation, Americans can expect to pay significantly more this Independence Day on cookouts, travel, and even fireworks.

With inflation reaching a new 40-year high, Fourth of July barbeques will cost a whopping 17 percent more this year according to the American Farm Bureau.

Fourth of July staples are all up in price, with ground beef up 36 percent, chicken breasts up 33 percent, pork chops up 31 percent, pork and beans up 33 percent, lemonade up 22 percent, potato salad up 19 percent, and ice cream up 10 percent.

After the Biden White House attempted to brag about the price of an Independence Day barbeque going down by $0.16 last year, the same meal will now cost $10.18 more this year.

It’s not just cookouts that will cost more – Americans who plan to purchase fireworks this year must brace for higher prices as firework prices are set to increase by up to 30 percent.

Woonsocket, Rhode Island fireworks salesman Michael O'Neil: “A container of fireworks is typically around $8,500, this year the same shipment is around $60,000.”

GAS PRICES AND TRAVEL COSTS SKYROCKET UNDER BIDEN

On top of rising food prices, experts warn “drivers will be facing the most expensive July 4th at the pump ever this year.”

Average U.S. gas prices recently reached over $5.00 a gallon, more than doubling since Biden took office.

In just one year, gas prices under Biden have increased by nearly $2.00 per gallon while diesel has gone up by over $2.50 per gallon.

Americans looking to get away this summer will face rising prices across the board, with airfare costs increasing by more than $130 and rental car prices nearly $150 more than when Biden took office.

Americans will also be facing rising hotel costs, with resort prices up 33 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Biden’s price hike has led to the lowest share of people traveling by air in more than a decade.

According to AAA, prices for air travel, car rentals, cruises, hotels, and tours this holiday weekend have soared 60 percent since 2021.

53 percent of Americans expect Bidenflation to have a “significant or moderate” impact on their holiday plans.

The Gateway Pundit reported on RINO comments made by Blackman during an interview.

Blackman claimed that there was nothing we could do about the stolen 2020 election. “We have to look forward” and move on from the stolen 2020 election, he said.

Within minutes, Blackman contacted TGP’s Jordan Conradson attempting to walk back what he said and claiming he has been on the front lines for decertification, despite his near silence through the process.

He pointed to his voting record as proof that he isn’t a RINO but that doesn’t change what he said.

Blackman pledged to Conradson that he would post a Facebook live video to clarify his stance on decertification or nullification of the fraudulent 2020 election. The video now appears to have been deleted but the gesture was nice.

Just a few minutes later, Walt’s wife, Kristi Blackman began repeatedly texting Conradson and continued for several hours with no response.

Kristi accused TGP of not reporting the truth, then sent screenshots of Walt Blackman’s letters to the Arizona Attorney General and a letter to Arizona Senate President Karen Fann. Both letters were sent in 2020

These letters were good for election integrity and the Arizona audit, but since 2020 we haven’t seen Blackman on the frontlines like Rep. Mark Finchem, Senator Wendy Rogers, Senator Sonny Borrelli and other election integrity heros.

California has repealed an anti-loitering law designed to combat prostitution but that LGBTQ advocates say resulted in law enforcement targeting transgender women and women of color.

On Friday, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed SB357 by state Sen. The billionaire — who is the brand-new owner of more than 2,000 acres of prime farmland in northeastern North Dakota — is adding something more luxe to his burgeoning real estate portfolio: the Palazzo Marini in Rome. Reports say Gates plans to convert the 17th-century structure, located near the fabled Spanish Steps, into a six-star hotel.

The building is very close to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna and Via Condotti, and not far from the Piazza Navona and Via Veneto.

Gates, 66, the former CEO of Microsoft and its largest shareholder, and his frequent investment partner, Saudi Arabian Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, 67, are paying about $170 million for the property, Corriere della Sera reported.

The palazzo is reportedly a “real fixer upper” that’s been used as a pop-up Ikea shop selling kitchenware and as a canteen for legislators in the country’s lower house of Parliament in recent years.

Gates and the prince likely will shell out big bucks to turn the building, which spans four city blocks in the heart of Rome, into a luxury hotel that reportedly will include about 100 rooms and possibly space for a conference center, gym and spa.

It’s planned as a “six star” hotel, even though such a ranking doesn’t officially exist. According to at least one travel writer, other extremely high-end hotels worthy of six stars include the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, the Baur au Lac in Zurich, Le Bristol in Paris, the Mandarin Oriental in Thailand and the Taj Falaknuma Palace in south India.

A spokesperson for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts disputed the characterization of Palazzo Marini being purchased by Gates and the prince. He said it was more accurate to say the Rome property was bought by Fort Partners, a Puerto Rican company, and will be managed by the Four Seasons.

Gates and Prince Alwaweed were stymied in their efforts to buy the venerable Danieli Hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal earlier this year because Venetians didn’t want foreign investors taking control of the property."

The invasive giant African land snail, which can grow to be 8 inches long, decimate agriculture, and carry parasites, has been spotted in FloridaThe giant African land snail may look friendly, but the state of Florida has gone to great lengths to eradicate it — twice.

Now, the slimy creatures are back again.

Officials confirmed on June 23 that a giant African land snail was detected in New Port Richey in Pasco County, located north of Tampa on Florida's west coast, launching another wave of efforts to rid the state of the snail.

The giant African land snail, Lissachatina fulica, can grow up to 8 inches long and procreate in large quantities, laying thousands of eggs at a time that can go on to hatch and wreak additional havoc.

"The giant African land snail is one of the most damaging snails in the world and consumes at least 500 different types of plants," the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said in a statement announcing the discovery."These snails could be devastating to Florida agriculture and natural areas as they cause extensive damage to tropical and subtropical environments."

In addition to its diverse plant diet, the snail is known to feed on paint and stucco for calcium, posing a threat to infrastructure.

Thesnails can also carry the parasite known as rat lungworm, which can cause meningitisin humans, leading officials to warn the public: "DO NOT HANDLE SNAILS WITHOUT WEARING GLOVES!"

The giant African land snail was first detected in Florida in 1969 and eradicated in 1975. It was detected again in 2011 in Miami-Dade County, and again declared eradicated last year. Prior to the recent discovery, a snail had not been detected in the state since 2017.

More than 10 million bees released when semi-truck crashes on Utah highwayThe truck, driven by a commercial beekeeper traveling from California to North Dakota, tipped over on Interstate 80 at around 10:40 a.m. local time Monday, Cameron Roden, public information officer for the Utah Highway Patrol, told CNN. The crash occurred because the driver was driving too fast on a curve, Roden added.

Eastbound I-80's right lane was closed for about four hours to clean up the crash site and the driver was taken to the hospital due to numerous bee stings and minor injuries from the crash, Roden reported. Several troopers on the scene also received bee stings.

Julie Arthur, president of the Wasatch Beekeepers' Association, told CNN the truck was transporting 416 boxes,each of which carried between 50,000-100,000 honeybees used to pollinate crops across the country.

"At least 10 million bees were in the air," Arthur noted. She put out a call to her team to help capture the huge swarm,but the beekeeper told authorities on site it was not worthwhile to attempt to save the bees.

It wasn't until Tuesday morning Arthur received a call saying she and her team could stag e a rescue mission.

The scene was "a gigantic mess," Arthur recounted, with honey and honeycomb wax melting in the sun and boxes scattered everywhere, covered in the fire foam fighters had used to spray down some of the bees.

"Little of the equipment was salvageable," Arthur observed. "But we found a huge pile of bees on the back of the hillside." She described seeing "a wall of bees" 8 feet long, 4 feet deep, and 5 feet high. "We just started piling bees into boxes as fast as we could. They were not nice. They had just been dumped off a truck and most of them had lost their queen."

Altogether, Arthur and a group of five volunteers rescued about 10% of the wayward bees.

Whereas the rescued bees were previously destined to travel the country pollinating crops for farmers, now they're going to be used as teaching aids for burgeoning beekeepers.

Utah is known as the "Beehive State" and images of beehives are found across the state's signs and monuments, according to the Utah State Capitol.

If you’ve ever had the desire to taste human flesh, you’ve now got a chance to give it a whirl between buns.

Swedish plant-based food brand Oumph! created the unusual flesh-flavored burger, which won a Silver Brand Experience and Activation Lion at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity last week.

If you’re concerned the special-edition bizarre “meat” may not be realistic enough, do not fear — a spokesperson said they’ve done their best to make sure it’s as lifelike as possible, crafting it from soya, mushrooms and wheat protein as well as plant-based fats and “a mysterious spice mix.”

Despite the apparently eerie similarity to human flesh, the spokesperson assures “no humans were injured in the development of this product.”

The advertisement — released on Halloween eve in 2021 — shows a dimly lit hallway with a figure walking towards a doorway, cutting between clips of a cook preparing some meat and rows of knives before “plant-based human flesh” flashes up on the screen, as well as “be scared” and “relax” before daring viewers to taste it.

“I am incredibly proud of this award and the great teamwork behind it. Our mission is to change how people eat, and it is our duty to use creativity as a tool to make this change happen,” said Henrik Åkerman, global brand leader at Oumph!.

“As a small brand we need to be bold and ready to push some boundaries to breakthrough, and I think this campaign is a good example of us doing just that,” he said.

Tomás Ostiglia, executive creative director at creative agency LOLA MullenLowe, said a problem with selling plant-based products was people often said they don’t replicate the taste of meat very well.

“A claim most are tired of hearing and even more tired of being disappointed by,” he said. “And of course, a solution was to make a tasty plant-based human meat burger.

“The bravery of launching a risky idea that is 100% on-brand is always rewarded,” Ostiglia added.

Oumph! co-founder, corporate chef and head of innovation Anders Linden said developing a plant-based burger that tastes of human meat was “exciting, and a little bit scary.”

“We developed this burger in no time as soon as we knew what taste and texture we were after,” Linden explained.

“This is our ultimate and weird way of showing that it’s possible to create any type of food by using just plants.”

The studies may solve the mystery of how North Korea began succeeding so suddenly after a string of fiery missile failures, some of which may have been caused by American sabotage of its supply chains and cyberattacks on its launches. After those failures, the North changed designs and suppliers in the past two years, according to a new study by Michael Elleman, a missile expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Such a degree of aid to North Korea from afar would be notable because President Trump has singled out only China as the North’s main source of economic and technological support. He has never blamed Ukraine or Russia, though his secretary of state, Rex W. Tillerson, made an oblique reference to both China and Russia as the nation’s “principal economic enablers” after the North’s most recent ICBM launch last month.

Analysts who studied photographs of the North’s leader, Kim Jong-un, inspecting the new rocket motors concluded that they derive from designs that once powered the Soviet Union’s missile fleet. The engines were so powerful that a single missile could hurl 10 thermonuclear warheads between continents.

Those engines were linked to only a few former Soviet sites. Government investigators and experts have focused their inquiries on a missile factory in Dnipro, Ukraine, on the edge of the territory where Russia is fighting a low-level war to break off part of Ukraine. During the Cold War, the factory made the deadliest missiles in the Soviet arsenal, including the giant SS-18. It remained one of Russia’s primary producers of missiles even after Ukraine gained independence.

But since Ukraine’s pro-Russian president, Viktor Yanukovych, was removed from power in 2014, the state-owned factory, known as Yuzhmash, has fallen on hard times. The Russians canceled upgrades of their nuclear fleet. The factory is underused, awash in unpaid bills and low morale. Experts believe it is the most likely source of the engines that in July powered the two ICBM tests, which were the first to suggest that North Korea has the range, if not necessarily the accuracy or warhead technology, to threaten American cities.

“It’s likely that these engines came from Ukraine — probably illicitly,” Mr. Elleman said in an interview. “The big question is how many they have and whether the Ukrainians are helping them now. I’m very worried.”

Bolstering his conclusion, he added, was a finding by United Nations investigators that North Korea tried six years ago to steal missile secrets from the Ukrainian complex. Two North Koreans were caught, and a U.N. report said the information they tried to steal was focused on advanced “missile systems, liquid-propellant engines, spacecraft and missile fuel supply systems.”

Investigators now believe that, amid the chaos of post-revolutionary Ukraine, Pyongyang tried again.

In a very weird economic scenario, the Biden administration actually benefits from a port stoppage as imports are a deduction to GDP and the U.S. economy is presumably on the “zero” growth bubble. If the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) calculates a negative GDP in the second quarter (not likely for political reasons), the Biden administration would officially be responsible for a recession. [Any delay in import quantification helps shape the economic statistics; however, Q2 ended yesterday.]

Additionally, port infrastructure specialist, John D. Porcari, is part of the Biden administration economic team. Porcari shaped the response to the import and supply chain crisis in 2021 that formed the hilarious ‘hide the ships’ strategy. Porcari works to prop-up the insufferable Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg who has no idea what he’s doing.

CALIFORNIA – LOS ANGELES, July 1 (Reuters) – The contract covering more than 22,000 workers at 29 U.S. West Coast ports expires late on Friday, dialing up worries that labor disruption could roil the nation’s battered supply chains, stoke inflation and threaten a weakening economy.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) employer group, which declined comment for this report, said in a rare joint statement on June 14 that they were not planning any work stoppages or lockouts that would worsen supply chain logjams.

That matters because when the contract expires at 5 p.m. PDT(0000 GMT Saturday), so does its “no strike” clause, said Peter Tirschwell, vice president of maritime, trade & supply chain at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

History suggests a last-minute extension is not likely. The union in November rejected a one-year contract extension, saying its members had already granted a three-year extension to the current contract.

They are routing cargo away from the West Coast to avoid potential labor-related slowdowns, particularly at the nation’s busiest seaport complex at Los Angeles/Long Beach that handle nearly $500 billion in cargo annually. The last West Coast port labor contract negotiation broke down in 2015 after nine months of talks. Dockworkers stopped work for eight days, a move that gummed up U.S. supply chains and siphoned an estimated $8 billion from the Southern California economy.

U.S. President Joe Biden met with the ILWU and the PMA in Los Angeles on June 10.

Any disruptions at Pacific Coast ports that handle almost 40% of imports to the United States could send transportation costs even higher, exacerbating pressure on a softening economy that is sinking Biden’s approval ratings.

“We’ve never had a White House that is all over these negotiations the way they are now,” Tirschwell said. (read more)

A French peer-reviewed study concluded that for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the risk of myocarditis skyrockets a week after vaccination.

The risk of myocarditis after mRNA vaccination was 8 times and 30 times greater than unvaccinated control groups for BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) and mRNA-1273 (Moderna), respectively.

The largest association for myocarditis following the Moderna jab was 44 times higher risk for persons aged 18 to 24 years.

As for the Pfizer shot, in relation to the same age group, the risk was 13 times higher.

Infection with the Chinese Communist Party virus yielded, by comparison, a 9 times greater risk of the same condition.

Myocarditis refers to the inflammation of the heart muscle—a life-threatening condition. There are many established causes for this heart condition. The leading cause—according to modern science’s most recent discoveries—is viruses; but during the pandemic, COVID mRNA vaccines have earned a place as a top suspect for myocarditis.

The new study’s goal was to provide an assessment of association with vaccines across sex and age groups.

“Both SARS-CoV2 infection and COVID mRNA vaccines have been associated with myocarditis. Knowing the spike protein’s affinity to ACE2 receptors in the heart and spike protein’s injury to cardiomyocytes (cells of the heart), the association of myocarditis with SARS-CoV2 virus or spike protein-based mRNA vaccination was not entirely unexpected,” Dr. Sanjay Verma, a cardiologist, told The Epoch Times via email.

Verma also thinks the CDC’s analysis “erroneously suggests” that risk of myocarditis after SARS-CoV2 infection is greater than after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination.

“For the cases of myocarditis after SARS-CoV2, CDC uses officially confirmed PCR+ ‘cases,’ even though their own seroprevalence data demonstrates that far more people have been infected than officially conformed PCR+ ‘cases.’ For example, seroprevalence data as of Feb 21, 2022, reveals 75 percent (about 54 million) of all children have been infected compared to 12 million officially confirmed PCR+ ‘cases’ (i.e., the actual number of kids infected is 4.5 times greater than PCR+ ‘cases’). Therefore, calculating the risk of myocarditis after SARS-CoV2 infection, the rate noted by CDC would therefore need to be reduced by 4.5 times. Thus far, CDC has not adjusted its COVID-19 morbidity and mortality data accordingly,” said the cardiologist, who practices in Coachella Valley, California.

The study analyzed 1,612 cases of myocarditis and 1,613 cases of pericarditis in France from May 12, 2021, to Oct. 31, 2021, involving 32 million people aged 12 to 50 years who received 46 million doses of mRNA vaccines.

It is limited by using solely hospital discharge diagnoses. Therefore, it does not include those who may have died before being hospitalized or those whose symptoms were not severe enough to be hospitalized.

“There have been reports (pdf) of autopsy-proven myocarditis after vaccination and anecdotal evidence of patients being dismissed by ER and never being hospitalized. Adjusting for these excluded subsets may yield even higher risk than reported in this study. Follow-up of the patients in this study was limited to one month after discharge. However, a previous cardiac MRI study found about 75 percent of patients with vaccine-associated myocarditis can have persistent MRI abnormalities 3–8 months after initial diagnosis,” Verma said.

The authors of the study didn’t analyze the effect of booster vaccination since it is not yet recommended for young adults in France.

In the United States, however, booster injections are mandated by colleges and universities, employers, and even some state public health departments irrespective of age or prior infection.

“In a preprint follow-up to their peer-reviewed study of myocarditis after vaccination, analysis found continued incremental risk of myocarditis after booster vaccination. In fact, while many countries have refrained from recommending COVID vaccination in very young children because the risks do not justify the benefits, the U.S. stands alone in recommending it in the youngest of kids,” Verma said.

A research paper published on May 18 studied the pandemic control measures—which included vaccine and mask mandates, as well as isolation and contact tracing—of Cornell University, which was almost completely vaccinated, and found these policies were “not a match” for the Omicron variant and its rapid spread.

Age and sex-specific risks of myocarditis and pericarditis following Covid-19 messenger RNA vaccines

Abstract

Cases of myocarditis and pericarditis have been reported following the receipt of Covid-19 mRNA vaccines. As vaccination campaigns are still to be extended, we aimed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the association, by vaccine and across sex and age groups. Using nationwide hospital discharge and vaccine data, we analysed all 1612 cases of myocarditis and 1613 cases of pericarditis that occurred in France in the period from May 12, 2021 to October 31, 2021. We perform matched case-control studies and find increased risks of myocarditis and pericarditis during the first week following vaccination, and particularly after the second dose, with adjusted odds ratios of myocarditis of 8.1 (95% confidence interval [CI], 6.7 to 9.9) for the BNT162b2 and 30 (95% CI, 21 to 43) for the mRNA-1273 vaccine.The largest associations are observed for myocarditis following mRNA-1273 vaccination in persons aged 18 to 24 years.Estimates of excess cases attributable to vaccination also reveal a substantial burden of both myocarditis and pericarditis across other age groups and in both males and females.
