Poland Says Its Fighter Jets Won’t Fight in Ukraine: Official

Poland’s military has not and won’t send its fighter jets to Ukraine to support the country’s military against Russia, said a deputy foreign minister.

Marcin Przydacz, the deputy minister, told Radio Zet that “we will not open our airports and Polish planes will not fight over Ukraine … Polish planes will not fight over Ukraine.” Another government spokesman, Piotr Mueller, said that the move to provide planes was still being discussed within NATO, but added that “at this stage it doesn’t look like such a decision will be made,” according to a translation of his statement, reported by Polish media.

On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Poland, a member of NATO, has been given the “green light” to send fighter planes to Ukrainian forces.

“In fact, we’re talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to backfill their needs if, in fact, they choose to provide these fighter jets to the Ukrainians. What can we do? How can we help to make sure that they get something to backfill the planes that they are handing over to the Ukrainians?” Blinken told CBS News.

Since the conflict started on Feb. 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government have repeatedly asked the United States and NATO to send weapons, including fighter planes to defend the country’s airspace against Russia.

“We are working with our American, especially, friends and allies, on the steady supply of all the ammunition and anti-air, anti-tank, and planes to be able to effectively defend our country,” Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, said on Sunday.

Russia makes new claims on US-financed biolabs in Ukraine

The US has “covered” Ukraine with a network of biolaboratories linked to the Pentagon, the Russian Defense Ministry says

The Ukrainian authorities have been urgently destroying pathogens studied at its laboratories linked to the US Department of Defense, the Russian military claimed on Monday, adding that such activities hint at the military purposes of these studies.

As many as 30 biological laboratories have been established in Ukraine that are actively cooperating with the US military, the commander of the Russian radiological, chemical and biological defense force, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said at a news briefing on Monday.

The list of these laboratories’ partners includes the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) – the largest biomedical research facility administered by the US military; the general added.

Many of these laboratories have been active since the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine and their emergence in the country has coincided with a spike in infectious diseases in the region, including German measles, diphtheria and tuberculosis, the Russian military said.

After the Russian forces launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, these laboratories started hastily destroying the materials they had been working on, including the highly pathogenic bacterial and viral agents, Kirillov has said, adding that Moscow has obtained documents related to that process.

Analysis of the documents shows that the laboratories had been working with dangerous infections such as anthrax and the plague. “Assortment and the excessive quantity of the biological agents suggest that the work done in these laboratories had been part of some military biological programs,” the general has said, adding that just one such laboratory in the western Ukrainian city of Lvov had destroyed as many as 320 containers with pathogens causing plague, swamp fever and Malta fever among others.

“If these collections fall into the hands of the Russian experts, they will highly likely prove Ukraine and the US have been in violation of the Biological Weapons Convention,” Kirillov has said, adding that “this is the only reason that can explain the hasty destruction” of those materials.

The general has also expressed his concerns that all the biological materials needed for the alleged military biological program to continue had been already transported to the US.

Kiev has denied developing bioweapons, and Washington has not commented on the Russian military statements so far.

Moscow has been raising alarm about the activities of the US-financed biological laboratories located in the former Soviet states for quite some time. Earlier, it pointed to the Lugar Research Center – a US-funded laboratory in Georgia – as a place where some dangerous experiments are being conducted.

The Pentagon brushed off such accusations as a “Russian disinformation campaign” at that time.

Underage relationship investigation leads to 9 arrests in Vidalia

According to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page, authorities arrested nine people for child endangerment and drug charges in Vidalia. On Monday, February 28, 2022, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Cybercrime Unit started investigating what authorities alleged was an inappropriate relationship between a 57-year-old male and a 15-year-old female.

Authorities reported the relationship happened at a Vidalia home, where police arrested a subject on multiple counts of pornography involving juveniles in 2021. During the investigation, authorities learned that the child in question had missed an excessive amount of school, all of which were unexcused absences.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for both parents of the child in question, along with a search warrant for the home. On Thursday, March 3, 2022, investigators executed the warrant, with help from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Units.

Detectives discovered the home to be in unlivable conditions, with a total of 13 people inside, one of which was a convicted sex predator. They also found and seized multiple types of narcotics and rescued four juveniles. According to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, further charges related to the sex trafficking of juveniles are expected to happen.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Detective Lipscomb at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip online through the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office smart phone app.

The all-cash deal of $5.8 billion, which includes absorption of Cornerstone debt, was announced early Monday.

The buyer is the international private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice which already owned nearly half Cornerstone’s (NYSE: CNR) stock.

Pentagon extends National Guard presence in nation's capital as trucker convoy arrives in the area

The truckers slowed some traffic patterns outside the Beltway over the weekend.

The Pentagon on Monday extended the National Guard support that was dispatched to Washington, D.C., over the weekend as part of an emergency declaration related to the hundreds of truck drivers and other motorists protesting COVID-19 restrictions.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved requests from the U.S. Capitol Police and the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency extending "previously approved National Guard support in the District, including around the U.S. Capitol area," agency spokesman John Kirby says.

About 1,000 people associated with the so-called "Freedom Convoy – patterned after a recent one in Canada – have camped about 70 miles northwest of the District since Friday but so far have only circled the city on its Beltway.

The Guardsmen will remain in the area through Wednesday, providing support at traffic control points. This past weekend guards could be seen in the District, including on Capitol Hill. The convoy on Sunday caused minor traffic disruptions on the Beltway, bu they've yet to come into the city.

Last month, the secretary approved 700 unarmed National Guard troops to be deployed to D.C. to assist with traffic patterns ahead of the convoy.

The convoy is expected to last several more days, prompting the extension of the Guardsmen's presence.

China Agriculture Minister Says Winter Wheat Condition Could Be Worst in History

BEIJING—The condition of China’s winter wheat crop could be the “worst in history,” the agriculture minister said on Saturday, raising concerns about grain supplies in the world’s biggest wheat consumer.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Chinese regime’s annual political meetings, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Tang Renjian said that heavy rainfall last year delayed the planting of about one-third of the normal wheat acreage.

A survey of the winter wheat crop taken before the start of winter found that the amount of first- and second-grade crop was down by more than 20 percentage points, Tang said.

“Not long ago we went to the grassroots to do a survey and many farming experts and technicians told us that crop conditions this year could be the worst in history,” he said. “This year’s grain production indeed faces huge difficulties.”

The minister’s comments underscore concerns about China’s grain supply at the same time as the war between Russia and Ukraine, which together account for about 29 percent of global wheat exports, has disrupted supplies causing wheat prices to surge to 14-year highs.

Fueled by the Ukraine crisis, wheat prices in China soared to a record this week on existing domestic supply worries.

The Sea Island summit has always been the DeceptiCon gathering of Wall Street elites to cloister themselves and plan a strategy to protect their interests from the base of republican voters.

The only people invited to the gathering are the self-described UniParty elites who view their power as a position to rule the proles. The Tea Party and MAGA community have long been the pebble in the shoe of the Sea Island group.

Heck, this very website and discussion group exists as an outcome of accepting the intent of the DeceptiCon class and making a purposeful self-respecting decision to stop being a victim of their UniParty assembly. Battered conservative, no more.

The American Enterprise Institute’s annual World Forum is hosted at Sea Island specifically for the purposes of planning how to manipulate registered republican voters into supporting their agenda.

This year is no different. Attendees include the customary cocktail class donors, Mitch McConnell DeceptiCons, Never Trumpers, child traffickers and sexploitation enablers like the Lincoln Project and many more corporate types.

The goal is always the same, protect the business operations in Washington DC at all costs. With the 2022 election year upon us, and with the primary season starting soon, the GOPe wing of the UniParty must share and discuss their strategic defense initiatives.

People used to call this the “establishment” republicans, but really that’s too generic a word for what they do. These are the deceptive elites; the lying, conniving, scheming bastards. They represent the vile pus at the bottom of a lanced boil from a rotting blue whale carcass that can stink an entire city. They call themselves conservatives, hence “DeceptiCons” gets the specificity of their intent.

As noted in a CBS outline of attendees, the gathering is being led by Robert Doar, a vile-mannered Republican and beneficiary of Michael Bloomberg’s money. From the Senate, Mitch McConnell will be joined by Senator Tim Scott (SC) a familiar attendee, Senator Susan Collins of Maine, and retiring Senator Rob Portman of Ohio.

The pontificating Jonah Goldberg will also be there to share his sanctimonious hatred of the unwashed masses, along with Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. The very worst of GOP politicians or more aptly, walking piles of toxic excrement unworthy of elevated status to useful manure status, will be in attendance. Florida Senator Rick Scott and New York Congresswoman Elise Stephanik will also attend, likely to capture the open checkbook lunches.

Not a single republican who has ever attended these Sea Island summits has ever held a position of value to the working-class of the republican party. Not one. A few of the stealthier characters, those who duck down in the seats before they reach the security gates, have fooled the voters; however, as with all things conniving, their true nature always surfaces, eventually.

Mike Pence will likely attend (though he is not in the scant CBS outline), and you can bet the 2024 DeceptiCon approved candidate will be in the mix somewhere. AEI tries to hide the political guest list because of websites like us who have caught on to the schemes (think splitter strategy). However, if I were betting, I’d say names like Nikki Haley, Liz Cheney, John Thune, Joni Ernst and Kristi Noem will likely be behind the windows of the dark tinted SUV’s arriving late in the evening.

Seated in the Corinthian chairs will be the McConnell’s, Portman’s, Thune’s, Barrasso’s, Blunt’s, Bush’s, Cheney’s and more. The GOP donors will be the typical who’s who of Wall Street with some tech and war industry folks blended in.

This year the White House is sending a team including Director of the National Economic Council, Brian Deese. It’s bipartisan, they say; but the underlying reality is one we have always noted. There is only one UniParty bird in Washington DC; an always hungry vulture with two wings, Democrats and Republicans.

The Sea Island summit 2022 will have the exact same purpose as Sea Island 2016. Stop the influence of Donald Trump and do whatever it takes to crush those pesky working class Tea Party and MAGA people.

The people who attend Sea Island don’t give a rats’ ass if it is their democrats or their republicans who retain power, what they cannot and will not tolerate, is a rise of power to benefit middle-America, the working class. It has always been thus.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has criticized the "shocking behavior" of Russian athlete Ivan Kuliak at a gymnastics World Cup event in Doha, Qatar.

The FIG did not give details about the behavior they condemned, but the statement came after the 20-year-old ​gymnast wore a 'Z' symbol taped to his leotard while standing next to Ukrainian athlete ​Illia Kovtun on the podium – Kovtun won gold and Kuliak picked up bronze in the parallel bars on Saturday.

The organization that oversees Russian gymnasts acknowledged in a statement that Kuliak's display violated FIG rules, but expressed the organization's support for his actions.

The 'Z' insignia has been displayed on tanks and vehicles used by the Russian military in its Ukraine operations and has since become a symbol of support for the invasion of Ukraine.

Propaganda videos on social media appear to show supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin ​wearing clothing featuring the 'Z' symbol, waving Russian flags and chanting pro-Russia slogans.​

"The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) confirms that it will ask the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation to open disciplinary proceedings against Ivan Kuliak following his shocking behavior at the Apparatus World Cup in Doha, Qatar," a ​Sunday statement from the gymnastics governing body read.

​On Monday, Head of the Artistic Gymnastics Federation of Russia (FSGR) Vasily Titov told Russian publication MK that Kuliak has the governing body's full support. FSGR quoted the article on its official website.

"I don't think that Ivan wanted to make a special demonstration, but we will support him in any case," he said.

"It was a violation of the uniform approved by the FIG. I think that they can punish, they can also remove us from participation. But we were already removed."

CNN has reached out to the FSGR but has yet to receive a response.

CNN has also reached out to the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation but has not received a response.

Trucker convoy leader Tamara Lich granted bail

Tamara Lich one of the principal organizers of the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protest, has been released on bail. Lich has been in custody since her arrest on Feb. 17, when police shut down the three-week anti-COVID mandate and anti-government protest.

The conditions of her bail include a $25 thousand bond and she must leave Ottawa in 24 hours and Ontario in 72, only returning for court matters.

Lich must keep in contact with police, and she cannot contact any fellow convoy organizers or take part in protests over COVID mandates. Her social media activity will also be limited in an effort to prevent contact with protestors and organizers.

On Feb. 22, Lich was denied bail, with the judge saying she believed there was a substantial risk Lich would either engage in illegal activity around the protests or counsel others to do so. There were also suspicions around the source of Lich’s finances and the money to put up a bond for her bail.

Last week, she argued for a review with a new surety. She also accused the judge who denied her bail of bias, citing her unsuccessful run as a federal Liberal candidate in 2011.

Lich is charged with counselling to commit mischief.

'Freedom Convoy' leader Tamara Lich to be released from custody

An Ontario judge has ruled that Tamara Lich, a high-profile organizer of the "Freedom Convoy" protest, be released from jail following a bail review.

The judge found that the previous judge who denied Lich bail made errors in law. The Alberta resident is being released on $25,000 in bonds and must leave Ottawa within 24 hours and Ontario within 72 hours.

Lich was arrested Feb. 17 and has remained in custody after initially being denied bail. Lich spearheaded a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the convoy, which was shut down after raising more than $10 million. The Medicine Hat, Alta. native is charged with counselling to commit mischief.

Justice John Johnston said in his decision that in denying Lich bail two weeks ago, Justice Julie Bourgeous erred when weighing the seriousness of Lich's charges by comparing them to the seriousness of the impact of the "Freedom Convoy" and not to other criminal code offences.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered a general military mobilization.

In a declaration signed late Thursday, Zelensky said that "in order to ensure the defense of the state, maintaining combat and mobilization readiness of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations," a broad-based mobilization was ordered, including in the capital, Kyiv and all Ukraine's major cities.

"Mobilization shall be carried out within 90 days from the date of entry into force of this Decree," the announcement said.

The mobilization also instructed "the Security Service of Ukraine to take counterintelligence measures during the general mobilization."

It ordered the "conscription of conscripts, reservists for military service, their delivery to military units and institutions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and other state security services.

At the same time,Ukraine has banned all-male citizens 18-60 years old from leaving the country, according to the State Border Guard Service

The statement said that following the introduction ofmartial lawin Ukraine, a temporary restriction had been imposed.

"In particular, it is forbidden for men aged 18-60, Ukraine citizens, to leave the borders of Ukraine," the statement said. "This regulation will remain in effect for the period of the legal regime of martial law. We ask the citizens to take this information into consideration."

HOUSTON, March 7 (Reuters) – At least three tankers controlled by Russian maritime powerhouse Sovcomflot that have been unable to deliver their cargoes due to Western sanctions have re-routed to the Bahamas, vessel tracking data showed on Monday.

Russian state-owned Sovcomflot was blacklisted by the United States last month over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Britain and Canada also banned vessels flagged, operated or owned by Russia from docking at their ports.

Sovcomflot oil and refined products tankers SCF Don, SCF Neva and SCF Ussuri since the weekend signaled the Bahamas as their destination, after rerouting from other nations, according to Refinitiv Eikon tracking data.

It showed that some of the vessels have begun discharging off the Caribbean nation through ship-to-ship transfers – a move by some receiving companies to avoid direct dealings with Russia-related assets at terminals, an insurance industry source said.

Bahamian Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell on Monday said the country has not made a formal decision over sanctions.

“It’s an evolving story. I will brief the parliamentary group this evening and will brief the Cabinet in the morning,” he said on the sidelines of an event in Nassau.

Bahamian Attorney General Ryan Pinder declined to comment.

The United States has not yet imposed a wider ban on other Russian tanker operators, but has said it is considering energy sanctions as it continues putting pressure on Russia’s economy.

In October, Governor DeSantis visited JAXPORT to invite companies who were experiencing supply chain disruptions at other ports to bring their business to Florida’s ports which are open, ready for business, and able to free up backlogs at other ports. Since then, several companies have contacted JAXPORT about shifting their business to Florida, many specifically citing Governor DeSantis’ announcement as their reason for reaching out. Additionally, Florida’s ports have seen tremendous growth in cargo. Florida’s seaports have been working aggressively to expand cargo operations:

Port Miami recorded its busiest cargo year in its history, up almost 18% over last year with most of the additional cargo attributed to imports coming from Asia which would normally go into California.

Port Tampa container tonnage increased by 14% in the first quarter of 2022, with huge jumps in building material specifically. Steel is up 122% and lumber is up 160%.

Port Everglades saw 11% growth year over year, and they are up more than 25% year to date.

At Port Manatee, the first quarter of 2022 showed a 15% increase in short tons. Wood products which normally go into California have been coming to Port Manatee instead.

Since 2019, Florida has invested nearly $1 billion into its seaports to ensure that they have the capacity to serve as much cargo as possible. The state has also prioritized infrastructure investments in roadways to ensure the capability of handling freight movements. Governor DeSantis proposed $10.4 billion in his Freedom First budget for Florida’s transportation infrastructure.

Sea-Lead is a privately owned global shipping line, headquartered in Singapore, with a presence in 18 countries. The company has been considering South Atlantic ports for their new vessel service to avoid congestion at the Port of Long Beach.

Sea-Lead has been in communication with SSA Marine, the terminal operator at JAXPORT, and will call JAXPORT’s Blount Island Terminal every two weeks, beginning in May 2022.

Sea-Lead’s move to JAXPORT can be attributed to berth availability, strong labor force available in Jacksonville, and strong infrastructure connecting freight to consumers. JAXPORT has same-day truck access to 98 million US consumers. Sea-Lead’s new service is initially expected to bring 400-500 loaded containers to be discharged at JAXPORT and will bring in $400,000 in new revenue.

The Supreme Court on Monday shot down emergency appeals from Republicans in North Carolina and Pennsylvania who sought to block redistricting maps selected by state courts. Legislators in both states typically draw the congressional maps, but lawsuits challenging them prompted state courts to intervene and establish new district boundaries that are considered wins for Democrats. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court chose a map submitted to the state court by Democratic voters, after voters sued over the Republican-controlled legislature and the Democratic governor’s inability to agree on a map. In North Carolina, the state Supreme Court let a nonpartisan panel of experts draw a new map after concluding the Republican state legislature’s map violated the state Constitution by favoring Republican voters. The new maps are expected to benefit Democrats more than those proposed by the Republican-controlled state legislatures. In the Pennsylvania case, the Supreme Court declined to issue an injunction in an order published without any opinions, allowing the case to continue in federal court. In the North Carolina case, Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch said in a dissenting opinion Monday that they wanted to take the case. “This case presents an exceptionally important and recurring question of constitutional law, namely, the extent of a state court’s authority to reject rules adopted by a state legislature for use in conducting federal elections,” Alito said, writing for the three justices. “We will have to resolve this question sooner or later, and the sooner we do so, the better. This case presented a good opportunity to consider the issue, but unfortunately the Court has again found the occasion inopportune.” Justice Brett Kavanaugh signaled an openness to addressing the issue in North Carolina, but said it was too close to the election to force the state to redraw its maps.

Olympia, WA (March 4th, 2022) process servers and members of the Washington State Tea Room attempted to serve Governor Jay Inslee, Lt. Days prior to the process servers made the necessary arrangements to request service and were informed by each state-level elected public servants’ office that their offices would be open and would take service of the documents. AG Ferguson’s Office refused to sign for the documents and instructed the servers to leave the boxes of documents for the Governor and the AG in the foyer. Murray and Cantwell’s offices refused to open the doors. Jinkins’ office refused to sign for the documents and instructed the boxes be taken to the mail center to be scanned for bombs and stated the boxes would be delivered by the mail center after they were scanned. Lt. Governor Heck’s office signed for the documents and took service.

“They didn’t even respect us enough to come out and speak to us directly,” Brianna Mattes stated after being met by clerks and security guards at the offices which refused service. Each attempt to serve was recorded live.

The generic drugmaker Mallinckrodt has a tentative $1.6 billion deal to settle lawsuits over its role in the U.S. opioid crisis, it announced Tuesday.

The deal is intended to end hundreds of lawsuits faced by the company over opioids.

The company said that it had an agreement with a key committee of lawyers representing thousands of local governments suing various drug industry players over opioids — and that the deal has the support of the attorneys general of 47 states and territories.

The company, based in Staines-Upon-Thames, England, was one of the highest-volume opioid producers in the U.S. at the height of the nation’s prescription drug crisis, shipping 2.3 billion pills from 2006 to 2014, according to federal data.

In 2010 alone, Mallinckrodt’s SpecGX subsidiary, shipped 210 million doses of oxycodone to Florida, then the epicenter of the black market opioid trade. The company’s potent 30 milligram pills were especially sought after by people with addiction.

Documents gathered as the company prepared for trial showed that a Mallinckrodt sales manager told a distributor in 2009 of the pills: “Just like Doritos; keep eating, we’ll make more.” A company spokesman later called the statement “outrageously callous.”

The company argued in court filings that unlike makers of brand-name drugs, it did not promote opioids to doctors or understate the addiction risks. But plaintiffs in the cases said Mallinckrodt continued to ship suspicious orders without making sure the drugs weren’t going to be diverted to the black market.

China Warns Shipping Of South China Sea Naval Drills

by Ben Blanchard (Reuters) China is carrying out more than a week of military drills in the South China Sea in an area between its southern province of Hainan and Vietnam, the government announced, warning shipping to stay away.

China claims a large part of the disputed waterway, on which major shipping lanes lie, and has built artificial islands and airfields on some of its reefs and islets, to widespread concern in the region and in the United States.

In a statement late on Friday, the Hainan Maritime Safety Administration said the drills would start from the same day and last until March 15.

It provided coordinates for an area roughly halfway between Hainan’s Sanya and the Vietnamese city of Hue. Sanya is home to a major Chinese naval base.

“Entering prohibited,” it said in a Chinese and English language statement on its website.

Part of the area is well within Vietnam’s 200 nautical mile exclusive economic zone and Vietnam has previously criticised China for what it calls infringements on its sovereignty.

China’s Defence Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and neither did Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry.

In 2014, tension between Vietnam and China rose to its highest levels in decades when a Chinese oil rig started drilling in Vietnamese waters. The incident triggered boat rammings by both sides and anti-China riots in Vietnam.

China routinely carries out military exercises in the South China Sea.

Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Brunei all also have competing claims.

National Laboratory Pays Nearly $4.8 Million to Settle Allegations it Overcharged Connecticut Medicaid

U.S. Attorney Leonard C Boyle, Special Agent in Charge Phillip Coyne of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, and Connecticut Attorney General William Tong today announced that REDWOOD TOXICOLOGY LABORATORY, INC. has entered into a civil settlement agreement with the federal and state governments and has paid nearly $4.8 million to resolve allegations it overcharged the Connecticut Medicaid program for certain laboratory services.

Redwood Toxicology Laboratory (“RTL”), with a headquarters located in Santa Rosa, California, provides laboratory-testing services, specifically urine drug testing services, for substance abuse patients enrolled in the Connecticut Medicaid program. The government alleges that RTL violated Connecticut’s so-called “Most Favored Nation” regulation (Conn. Agencies Regs. § 17b-262-649), which provides, in essence, that clinical laboratories should not seek payment from Connecticut Medicaid for services at a price that is higher than the lowest price the laboratory charges for the same or similar services from other third parties. Specifically, the government alleges that RTL regularly accepted payments from Connecticut Medicaid for certain urine drug tests at the rate of $38 per test, while at the same time charging other third parties from $2 to $10.50 for the same or substantially similar urine drug tests.

To resolve the governments’ allegations, RTL agreed to pay $4,797,578, which covers claims submitted to the Connecticut Medicaid program from January 1, 2015, through and including February 24, 2018.

“We are committed to ensuring that public funds used for substance abuse treatment are properly spent, and clinical laboratories that charge government health care programs a higher price than they charge to other providers for the same or similar services will be held accountable,” said U.S. Attorney Boyle.

This matter was investigated by the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard M. Molot, and Assistant Attorney General Gregory O’Connell of the Connecticut Office of the Attorney General.

Coinbase says it shared addresses of the blocked “Russian” accounts with the US government

Cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase has announced it blocked thousands of accounts related to Russians. The site has vowed to support sanctions imposed by the West on Russia.

“Today, Coinbase blocks over 25,000 addresses related to Russian individuals or entities we believe to be engaging in illicit activity, many of which we have identified through our own proactive investigations,” the company announced in a statement on Monday.

While the platform did not specify the type of prohibited activity the accounts had allegedly been involved in, it noted that the sanctioned addresses had been already handed over to the US authorities.

Once we identified these addresses, we shared them with the government to further support sanctions enforcement

Coinbase further claimed the West’s sanctions “play a vital role in promoting national security and deterring unlawful aggression,” and said the company “fully supports these efforts by government authorities.”

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced last week that his company was complying with sanctions against Russia by blocking the accounts of Russian citizens who are clients of several major Russian banks that were hit by the penalties.

At the time, he insisted, however, that the exchange was not “pre-emptively” blacklisting Russians, arguing that “everyone deserves access to basic financial services”

The Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in Oahu, Hawaii, is slated to be de-fueled and permanently closed, Pentagon spokesman John F. Kirby said today.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III issued a statement today that directs the Navy secretary, in coordination with the commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, to take all steps necessary to de-fuel and permanently close the facility, the spokesman said.

This action follows a November 2021 leak and resulting contamination. Leaders from across the Defense Department, the Navy and Indo-Pacom remain very focused on this issue and "the impact that it's had on families and communities and our responsibilities in both national security and being good stewards of our resources in the environment," Kirby said.

Throughout this process, DOD's approach has been guided by a commitment to protect the population, the environment and the security of the country, he noted. As the secretary outlined in his direction to the Department of the Navy, DOD launched a thorough review of the facility's long-term work, which is grounded in analysis and completely aligned with our focus, he added.

As part of the decision and aligned with national security, the facility will refuel and reposition the fuel to land and afloat locations, Kirby said.

"This will meet our national security objectives by better positioning the United States to meet future challenges in the Pacific region, while ensuring environmental stewardship and protecting the population," the spokesman said. "Secondly, [as the] secretary noted, we're going to be able to take care of our people in the community. We are committed to mitigating the impacts of the November incident, and we are restoring safe drinking water to affected residents [by] providing best-in-class sampling and testing to ensure the continued safety of the drinking water." Finally, Kirby added that the effort will complete "environmental mitigation efforts for the Red Hill drinking water well in any other impacted areas and continue to engage the community on land use."

Also, Kirby said, a command investigation into the facility's releases and contamination of the water supply will take place. When that review is complete, the Navy will publicly release and report findings and continue to work closely with the Department of Health and the state of Hawaii about pursuing follow-on actions to ensure work continues, he said.

"[The] secretary's decision is not considered by the department to be some sort of quick fix," Kirby said. "We have work to do. Russia is reportedly announcing a cease-fire that will occur tomorrow in Ukraine.

The Washington Times reported tonight:

Russia’s U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia says Russia will carry out a cease-fire on Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Moscow time and open humanitarian corridors to evacuate citizens from Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy and Mariupol.

He took the floor at the end of a U.N. Security Council meeting on the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine on Monday to make the announcement.

“This proposal doesn’t have any demands about the citizens being sent necessarily to Russia, into Russian territory,” he said.

The Houston Chronicle also reported:

“There’s also evacuation offered towards Ukrainian cities to the west of Kyiv, and ultimately it will be the choice of the people themselves where they want to be evacuated to,” Nebenzia said.

Earlier today Russia offered terms to Ukraine to end the crisis.

Kamala Harris Attacks Truckers for Pollution as ‘People’s Convoy’ Protesters Hit D.C.

Vice President Kamala Harris criticized the levels of pollution caused by heavy trucks on the same day a group of patriotic truckers circled Washington, DC.

“Pollution from heavy-duty trucks and buses has made the air poisonous to breathe and this pollution is also, of course, accelerating the climate crises,” Harris said during a speech near the White House on Monday. “Threatening the future not just of our communities, but of the entire world.”

Harris did not mention the arrival of the “People’s Convoy” protest of American truckers over the weekend. The group of truckers planned to circle Washington, DC on the Capitol beltway on Monday to protest coronavirus restrictions.

During her speech, Harris told the story of a California community she visited when she was the attorney general, blaming heavy freight trucks and public buses for the majority of the pollution hurting the community.

She also shared her dream to get rid of all diesel powered trucks and buses and replace them with electric powered vehicles.

“Imagine a future: The freight trucks that deliver bread and milk to our grocery store shelves and the buses that take children to school and parents to work…. Imagine that they produced zero emissions,” she said.

Harris celebrated the news that the Environmental Protection Agency announced a new rule Monday to cut nitrogen oxide emissions from heavy trucks by up to 90 percent by 2031.

EPA administrator Michael S. Regan defended the new rule as a matter of environmental justice, noting that “people of color and those with lower incomes” were “more likely” to live near trucking freight routes in the United States.

Harris also touted the $1.5 billion in grants to replace diesel-powered buses with electric buses in Biden’s infrastructure bill as a step forward in the Biden administration’s dream.

[W]e have the ability to see what can be, unburdened by what has been, and then to make the possible actually happen,” she said.

Russia unveils new proposal for evacuation routes in Ukraine

Over 2 million people in Ukraine have asked Russia to facilitate their escape from the country, the Russian military says

The Russian military has proposed a new evacuation plan for Ukrainian civilians and foreign nationals aiming to flee major cities amid Moscow’s military offensive in Ukraine.

In a statement late on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that it will ensure safe passage for civilians from Kiev, Chernigov, Mariupol, Kharkov and Sumy all the way to Russian territory. People leaving Kiev and Chernigov, a city northeast of the capital, would first arrive in Belarus, from where they would be flown to Russia. Refugees from the three other cities could cross into Russia directly.

The Ukrainian side, meanwhile, would provide exit routes to civilians seeking to escape Mariupol, Kharkiv and Sumy through Ukrainian territory, according to the proposal.

The Russian military said that the humanitarian corridors would be opened from 0700 GMT Tuesday under a temporary ceasefire. It urged Kiev to accept the proposed evacuation plan until 1200 GMT the same day

Russia registered some 2 million appeals for evacuation assistance in the span of the last two days, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed. It stressed that the scope of the messages prompted it to “prepare and carry out the humanitarian operation.”

“Its results depend solely on the Ukrainian side,” the ministry said, accusing Ukrainian “nationalists” of blocking civilians from leaving areas under Kiev’s control.

Earlier on Monday, Kiev rejected Moscow’s previous proposal to establish humanitarian corridors that would have seen Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Russia through Belarus. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk called the offer “absurd and unacceptable.” She suggested Moscow should instead accept alternative routes put forward by the Ukrainian side.

While both parties have insisted that they were willing to ensure safe passage of civilians through ‘humanitarian corridors,’ multiple attempts to reach such agreements have failed, with Moscow and Kiev pointing fingers at each other for the lack of progress as each side blames the other for violating temporary ceasefire deals.

US-based company says it won't cut all ties with Russia

Procter & Gamble (P&G) says it will still sell health, hygiene, and personal care items to Russians

American consumer goods company Procter & Gamble (P&G) has announced it would reduce the number of products sold in Russia and discontinue all new investments in the country but it would not pull out of the Russian market entirely.

In a letter to employees on Monday, CEO Jon Moeller said P&G would “continue to support” the people of Russia and its employees in the country, but that Russia’s conflict with Ukraine – and the subsequent sanctions against Russia from the West – would require the implementation of “important changes immediately and over time.”

“We have discontinued all new capital investments in Russia and are suspending all media, advertising, and promotional activity,” Moeller revealed, adding that the company would also be “significantly reducing” its Russian product portfolio.

Despite this, Moeller announced that P&G would continue to produce “basic health, hygiene and personal care items needed by the many Russian families who depend on them in their daily lives.”

While many Western companies have pulled out of Russia entirely amid Moscow’s conflict with Ukraine, several large companies have continued to operate, including Coca-Cola, Pepsi, McDonald’s, and Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo.

Tadashi Yanai, the CEO of Uniqlo parent company Fast Retailing Co., defended his company’s decision to continue operation in Russia, arguing that Russians have “the same right to live” as everyone else and that clothing is “a necessity of life.”

9/11 Terrorist, Known as the “20th Hijacker,” Released From Gitmo by Biden Regime – Will Be Transferred to Home Country of Saudi Arabia For “Mental Health Treatment”

A Guantanamo Bay detainee who has been held at the facility since 2002 for his role in the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001 has been released from US custody and sent back to his home country by the Biden regime, according to the Department of Defense (DoD).

Mohammad Mani Ahmad al-Qahtani, also known as 9/11’s “20th hijacker,” was repatriated to Saudi Arabia this week, where he will receive mental health treatment at a psychiatric facility.

Al-Qahtani’s lawyers argued that he has suffered from schizophrenia from a young age and has repeatedly attempted to commit suicide while in custody at GITMO. Nevertheless, al-Qahtani was a devoted member of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization that orchestrated the 9/11 attacks, and, if he had not been prevented from entering the US by a thorough customs agent, would have taken his seat alongside four other hijackers on United Airlines flight 93 – the plane that was taken down in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew members attempted to regain control from the terrorists.

After being turned away by US customs, al-Qahtani was eventually captured in Afghanistan as he fought for Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the battle of Tora Bora in December 2001.

He has been held at GITMO ever since, but not anymore, thanks to Biden regime.

Meanwhile, while Biden green-lights terrorists to go home, hundreds of Americans are being politically persecuted and tortured in the DC Gulags for thought crimes and participating on January 6th.

It’s downright shameful.

The DoD announced al-Qahtani’s transfer in a statement on Monday:

“The Department of Defense announced today the repatriation of Mohammad Mani Ahmad al-Qahtani from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On June 9, 2021, the Periodic Review Board process determined that law of war detention of Mohammad Mani Ahmad al-Qahtani was no longer necessary to protect against a continuing significant threat to the national security of the United States. Therefore, the PRB recommended that al-Qahtani be repatriated to his native country of Saudi Arabia, subject to security and humane treatment assurances.

On Feb. 4, 2022, Secretary of Defense Austin notified Congress of his intent to repatriate al-Qahtani to Saudi Arabia. In consultation with our Saudi partners, we completed the requirements for responsible transfers.

The United States appreciates the willingness of Saudi Arabia and other partners to support ongoing U.S. efforts toward a deliberate and thorough process focused on responsibly reducing the detainee population and ultimately closing of the Guantanamo Bay facility.

The PRB process was established by the President’s March 7, 2011 Executive Order 13567. It is consistent with section 1023 of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2012 and affirmed in Executive Order 13823 (January 30, 2018).

The PRB panel consists of one senior career official each from the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, and State, along with the Joint Staff and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.”

After al-Qahtani’s departure, there are now a total of 38 detainees remaining at Guantanamo Bay, almost all of which are being considered for release or transfer. Just two of the prisoners have been convicted in military commissions, while the 36 others are pending review in some form.

Barr said he has been a "dedicated conservative Republican" his entire life.

Former President Donald Trump on Monday evening slammed former Attorney General Bill Barr for his actions after the 2020 election.

"Bill Barr said, and just reiterated, that the Trump campaign was 'spied on,' but did nothing about it," the former president said.

On Monday evening, Fox News host Bret Baier spoke with Barr about his memoir "One Damn Thing After Another" and his time in the Trump administration.

"The president's campaign was spied on," Barr said.

"And is that a crime?" Baier asked.

Barr did not dispute the fact a crime may have been committed but said it was an issue for Special Counsel John Durham to resolve.

"Well, it depends on the motivations of the FBI people involved, and that's obviously one of the things Durham has to look at," Barr said.

"He then said, 'mail-in ballots are prone to fraud,' and then did nothing to catch the fraudsters," Trump wrote in response to Barr.

Barr said he was unable to find any evidence of election fraud.

The former president also accused Barr of switching sides politically.

"He was so afraid of being impeached, that he went to the other side—and they left him alone," Trump said. "Barr was a 'Bushie' who never had the energy or competence to do the job that he was put in place to do."

The Fox host mentioned how Trump had insulted Barr personally.

Barr responded: "This is the usual conduct of the [former] president. When he falls out with someone and someone doesn't agree with him on something, he attacks them personally and it's sort of an infantile attack."

Barr added that he has been a "dedicated conservative Republican" his entire life.

He served as attorney general under George H. W. Bush and said that he supported Trump and called the administration successful overall.

Barr even said that while he would not support Trump in the primary, he would vote for the former president again in the 2024 general election if he becomes the nominee.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that the task of carrying out the special military operation in Ukraine will involve only professional military servicemembers. Conscript soldiers are not participating in the operation and will not be in the future, he said.

In his congratulations on International Women's Day, March 8, Putin addressed the relatives of servicemen who are now participating in the special military operation.

"I would like to address the mothers, wives, sisters, brides and girlfriends of our soldiers and officers who are now… defending Russia during the special military operation. I understand how you worry about your loved and close ones. You can be proud of them just as the entire country is proud of them and worries about them… I would like to stress that soldiers on active duty do not and will not participate in hostilities. And there will be no additional call-up of reservists," he said.
