AG Paxton Sues Battleground States for Unconstitutional Changes to 2020 Election Laws
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton today filed a lawsuit against Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in the United States Supreme Court. The four states exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws and unlawfully enacting last-minute changes, thus skewing the results of the 2020 General Election. The battleground states flooded their people with unlawful ballot applications and ballots while ignoring statutory requirements as to how they were received, evaluated and counted.
“Trust in the integrity of our election processes is sacrosanct and binds our citizenry and the States in this Union together. Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin destroyed that trust and compromised the security and integrity of the 2020 election. The states violated statutes enacted by their duly elected legislatures, thereby violating the Constitution. By ignoring both state and federal law, these states have not only tainted the integrity of their own citizens’ vote, but of Texas and every other state that held lawful elections,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Their failure to abide by the rule of law casts a dark shadow of doubt over the outcome of the entire election. We now ask that the Supreme Court step in to correct this egregious error.”
Elections for federal office must comport with federal constitutional standards. For presidential elections, each state must appoint its electors to the electoral college in a manner that complies with the Constitution. The Electors Clause requirement that only state legislatures may set the rules governing the appointment of electors and elections and cannot be delegated to local officials. The majority of the rushed decisions, made by local officials, were not approved by the state legislatures, thereby circumventing the Constitution.

Japan compiles fresh $700 bil. stimulus package
Japan's Prime Minister says the government has compiled an additional stimulus package worth over 700 billion dollars to tackle the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the economy.
Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide spoke at a meeting with senior officials on Tuesday. Suga said, "This economic package is to maintain employment, keep business going, revive the economy and open a path to growth including through green and digital technology."
Measures will include support for hospitals and nursing homes, as well as financial aid for businesses. The package ramps up investment in green technologies as Japan tries to shift to a net zero carbon footprint by 2050.
Plans to extend a program promoting domestic travel will be funded by the stimulus. The government will also help companies as they try to avoid cutting staff. The cabinet is to expected to approve the package on Tuesday evening.

America's Highest Paid Hooker Sues Nevada To Reopen Brothels

Alice Little, a legal sex worker in Nevada and quite possibly the highest-paid one in the US, is suing the state of Nevada to reopen itsbrothels, according to Yahoo Life.
Little is an employee at the BunnyRanch Legal NevadaBrothelin Mound House, Nevada. Thebrothelhas been closed since Mar. 17, despite other "close contact" businesses reopening.
Littlerecently filed a complaint and motion for a preliminary injunction against Nevada's Gov. Steve Sisolak in the Third Judicial District Court in Lyon County to reopenbrothels. She cites unstated damages for her lost wages and seeks the right for her and other licensed sex workers to "ply their legal trade" at private locations.
The lawsuit said Sisolak has "without any rational basis, decided to single outbrothels."
Last month, a Nevada court ordered the state's attorney general to respond toLittle'slegal action within 30 days.
"It would be understandable if the governor kept all close-contact businesses closed. But the fact that massage parlors, estheticians, salons, escort services and other non-essential businesses have been allowed to reopen lead me to believe that the governor's decision to keepbrothelsclosed is just blatant discrimination against Nevada's legal sex workers,"Littlesaid in a press release.
"I just can't let the governor arbitrarily decimate the livelihoods of an entire class of hard-working women. That's why I decided to take legal action."

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has new powers to veto or scrap agreements that state governments reach with foreign powers under laws that could stymie China’s Belt and Road Initiative in Australia and further inflame tensions between the trading partners.
The laws passed by Parliament on Tuesday will give the foreign minister the ability to stop new and previously signed agreements between overseas governments and Australia’s eight states and territories, and with bodies such as local authorities and universities.

Morrison’s government will be able to block or curtail foreign involvement in a broad range of sectors such as infrastructure, trade cooperation, tourism, cultural collaboration, science, health and education, including university research partnerships. An early target is likely to be an agreement the Victoria state government signed in 2018 to join President Xi Jinping’s signature infrastructure-building BRI.
The laws could further worsen ties between Australia and its largest trading partner, which have been in free fall since April, when the prime minister called for an independent probe into the origins of the coronavirus. Beijing has since inflicted a range of trade reprisals, including imposing crippling tariffs on Australian barley and wine while blocking coal shipments.
Relations hit a fresh low last week when a Chinese diplomat tweeted an image purporting to show an Australian soldier holding a knife to the throat of an Afghan child. After Morrison called for an apology for the “repugnant” post, a senior Chinese Foreign Ministry official dismissed the demand, questioning whether the Australian leader “lacks a sense of right and wrong.”
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs late Tuesday urged Canberra to take “an objective and logical view on the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative and refrain from creating obstacles that prevent normal communication between China and Australia.”
Mounting Concerns
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews told reporters last week his government wasn’t considering withdrawing from its BRI agreement due to the worsening ties, the Australian Associated Press reported.
China’s cooperation with Victoria on BRI has brought benefits to both sides, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said in August. “Australia should have an objective view of such cooperation and BRI, and not set up impediments for China-Australia cooperation.”
Beyond the BRI deal signed by Victoria, which aims to increase Chinese participation in new infrastructure projects, the law may allow the federal government to review and overturn memorandums of understanding between Beijing and the governments of Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania in sectors ranging from investment, science cooperation and access to the Antarctic.
The states and territories have at least 130 agreements across 30 nations that could be affected by the new law, according to Morrison. The law will establish a public register to provide transparency to the foreign minister’s decisions and states and territories will be given three months to deliver a stock-take of their existing agreements.
Partnerships between Australian universities and Beijing-sponsored bodies could be scrapped. There is mounting concern in intelligence circles about China’s influence in universities, and a program under which academics sign over intellectual property rights to their work in return for research grants, the Australian newspaper reported in April.
Under the law, Morrison won’t be able to scrap deals between state governments and commercial companies or state-owned enterprises. That means the lease of a strategic port in Darwin, used by the U.S. military, to a Chinese company by the Northern Territory government in 2015 could not be overturned.
It’s the latest move by the government to safeguard national interests. Morrison also plans to toughen foreign investment screening, regardless of the size of the deal, for sectors such as telecommunications, energy and technology.https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2020/12/9/australia-2

Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell Screamed About Russia for Four Years - But He Was Cozy With a Chinese Spy

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) spent the entire (first?) Trump term screaming that the president was cozy with, even a puppet of, Russia and Vladimir Putin. Swalwell practically based his entire presidential run on the tale, even after the Mueller report cleared the president of any alleged collusion.
But as my colleague Stacey Lennox reported earlier today, Rep. Swalwell has a compromising Chinese connection.
Accused Chinese spy Christine Fang successfully targeted several Bay Area Democrats including Swalwell for several years. Her connection to him was deeper than most; according to Axios, which broke the story, Fang engaged in fundraising for Swalwell.
The spy case became so serious and widespread — Fang reportedly slept with more than one of her targets — the FBI stepped in to stop her. She fled the country in 2015 and cut off contact with her dupes.
Donald Trump Jr. has been hammering Swalwell for swallowing Fang’s duplicitous help while later blaming Russia — not China, which actually inserted a spy into his campaign operation — of all manner of evil.
Swalwell (D-Calif.), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, has been a fierce critic of Trump’s during the Russia probe and beyond, and Donald Trump Jr. tweeted about the story repeatedly Tuesday.
He even said, without providing evidence, that Swalwell was ‘sleeping’ with the alleged spy.
‘So Rep Swalwell who spent years saying I was an agent of Russia was literally sleeping with a Chinese spy at the time. You can’t make this stuff up. How can this compromised individual/moron continue to sit on an intelligence committee?’ he asked.
The Axios report doesn’t allege that Swalwell actually slept with Fang, and Swalwell, who was single at the time, denies he did. She did allegedly sleep with at least two mayors, according to the report. One elderly mayor claimed he was teaching her English.
The Mueller report doesn’t allege that any of the Trumps colluded with Russia. In fact, Mueller’s findings include the key conclusion that neither Donald Trump nor any other American colluded with any Russians or agents of Russia to manipulate the 2016 election.
That hasn’t stopped Swalwell from accusing Trump of collusion anyway, nor has it slowed him down from casting Russia — but not China — as a dangerous foe.
Swalwell sits on the House Intelligence Committee. He is in a position to know that by intention, by skill level, and by sheer economic might, China is a far more dangerous foe than Russia could even hope to be. He is in a position to know, for instance, about China’s insidious Thousand Talents Plan, which has successfully recruited some 7,000 American and other Western scientists to work in some capacity to advance China’s military technology. Russia has no such program, and could not afford one. China has reportedly spent about $2 trillion on the TTP.
Has Swalwell deliberately deflected attention away from China, and toward Russia, because of his past association with an accused Chinese spy? It’s a serious question that demands a serious investigation to obtain a serious answer.

Platinum Equity to buy Ingram Micro from HNA Group in $7.2 billion deal
U.S. private equity firm Platinum Equity said on Wednesday it would buy electronics distributor Ingram Micro Inc from a unit of Chinese aviation and shipping conglomerate HNA Group in a $7.2 billion deal.
The deal comes as the once high-flying HNA Group, which owns the Hainan Airlines, sheds assets under a restructuring program to resolve liquidity risks stemming from years of aggressive acquisitions abroad. In September, the cash-strapped group’s chairman was barred from taking flights and high-speed trains and going on vacations due to its failure to pay a court-ordered $5,300 in a lawsuit.
HNA acquired Ingram, which distributes products ranging from Apple Inc’s iPhones to Cisco’s network equipment, in 2016 in a $6 billion deal.
The sale will help HNA Technology, a listed arm of the group, to repay the principal and interest on M&A loans and related debt, as well as to reduce expenses and ease liquidity pressure, the unit said in a regulatory filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The deal will not cause any changes in the equity structure of HNA Technology, or any changes in its ownership, it added.
Chief Executive Officer Alain Monié will continue to lead Ingram after the sale, which is expected to be completed by the first half of 2021, Platinum said.
Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Platinum has invested in diverse industries including technology, healthcare, entertainment, manufacturing and natural resources. Ingram, which has 35,000 employees and operates in 60 countries, reported over $47 billion in annual sales for its fiscal year 2019.
Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are financial advisers to Platinum Equity, while J.P. Morgan is advising Ingram.

Dollar turns higher as U.S. stocks weaken
The dollar rose in choppy trading on Wednesday for a fourth straight session, as selling momentum eased with stocks under pressure, but positive vaccine news and prospects of more U.S. fiscal stimulus next year should keep pressure on the greenback. In midday trading, the dollar gained 0.2% against a basket of currencies at 91.067. It reached an April 2018 low of 90.47 last Friday.
It hit session highs versus the yen and Swiss franc.
The euro, on the other hand, fell 0.2% to $1.2079, but was still on track for an annual gain of nearly 8%, its largest since 2017.
“This move of dollar weakness is starting to run out of steam in the short run,” said Ranko Berich, head of market analysis at Monex Europe in London. “Euro/dollar is rejecting last week’s highs, for example.”
Riskier currencies, including the Australian and New Zealand dollars as well as the Chinese yuan, led gains against the dollar, but have come off their highs. Both the Aussie unit and Chinese currency hit 2-1/2-year peaks earlier.
The dollar’s downtrend, however, remained the pervasive sentiment. The dollar dropped to 6.5198 yuan in onshore trading, its lowest since June 2018, putting the yuan up by more than 10% from its May lows, boosted by the softer dollar and steady inflows into Chinese stocks and bonds. [CNY/]
Sterling was volatile, up 0.2% against the dollar at $1.3379 before a Wednesday dinner between British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels that is seen as a last-ditch attempt to salvage a Brexit trade deal. Rumblings in the money markets grew with swap markets indicating a growing demand for dollars heading into the end of the year. Three-month euro cross-currency basis swap spreads widened to minus 27 basis points, but were well below a March peak of nearly minus 90 basis points.
The Australian dollar rose to its highest since June 2018 against the greenback and was last up 0.6% at US$0.7451.

Though the US Supreme Court is yet to have its final say on the matter, YouTube has announced it will now remove “any piece of content” claiming that the outcome of last month’s presidential election was fraudulent.
Tuesday marked the ‘safe harbor’ deadline for US states to certify their election results. Beyond this date, recounts, audits and lawsuits are generally required to have been performed or filed. President Donald Trump is still counting on a major Supreme Court lawsuit to overturn Joe Biden’s win, but to YouTube, the outcome is set in stone and dissent will no longer be allowed.
“We will start removing any piece of content uploaded today (or anytime after) that misleads people by alleging that widespread fraud or errors changed the outcome of the 2020 US Presidential election” the video platform said on Wednesday.

CARACAS' VIEW OF SMARTMATIC AND ITS VOTING MACHINES
10. (C) Smartmatic is a riddle. The company came out of
nowhere to snatch a multli-million dollar contract in an
electoral process that ultimately reaffirmed Chavez' mandate
and all-but destroyed his political opposition. The
perspective we have here, after several discussions with

Smartmatic, is that the company is de facto Venezuelan and
operated by Venezuelans. The identity of Smartmatic's true
owners remains a mystery. Our best guess is that there are
probably several well-known Venezuelan businessmen backing
the company who prefer anonymity either because of their
political affiliation or, perhaps, because they manage the
interests of senior Venezuelan government officials.
