The Atlantic Tries to Guilt Christians into Not Supporting Trump

The level of utter bullshit and outright racism displayed in this article is astounding even by FAKE NEWS standards. For example, according to Pew research, black (79%) and Latino (77%) Americans identify themselves as “Christian” more than do white (70%) Americans. Yet, the first 3 words in the article, “White conservative Christians” implies that only “Whites” are Christian who hold basic conservative values such as the importance of family, personal responsibility, and the sanctity of human life.

I also find it ironic that the author is attempting to use guilt and shame to manipulate evangelical readers into not supporting Trump for a second term because he didn’t “legislate” their religious beliefs as if that was ever the intent of Christ’s teachings. After all, where in the Gospel does it specify that we legislate Christ’s teaching, or create institutions that will guarantee it, insure it, and protect it by criminalizing its opposite?

Another irony is that the very same author would be condemning evangelicals as religious zealots if Trump had used the executive branch to mandate their particular moral beliefs across the land with new legislation.

It’s true that Trump is no “bible thumper”, but that's a good thing. While Trump never said that he was a saint, as POTUS, he has upheld core Christian values and principles that most Americans hold dear to their heart. For example:

1) That we have faith in God and humanity, not the typical corruption of the State.

2) That our rights are given to us at birth by God, not granted to us by the State.

3) That the role of the State is to protect these inalienable rights, not to take them away in order to protect itself.

And these 3 alone are far more than any Christian could ever hope to get from Joe Biden.

San Francisco Police Commission votes to install ‘Black lives matter’ posters in every station

San Francisco’s Police Commission voted Wednesday evening to display a “Black lives matter” poster in every station throughout the city, despite objections from the rank-and-file’s union.

The resolution, which was unanimously approved, ordered the Police Department to install a poster of at least 32 by 24 inches in each district station within 30 days. The poster must “prominently and exclusively” feature the phrase “Black lives matter” and it must be displayed in a place visible to station visitors.

The Black Lives Matter movement has gained greater support after Minneapolis police were captured on video killing George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, on Memorial Day. Protests and demonstrations calling for the officers’ arrest, as well as localized police reforms, were held across the nation, leading to louder calls to address systemic inequalities and bias in policing.

Police Chief Bill Scott, a Black man, said during Wednesday’s meeting the department is “fully committed” to the resolution.

"As I have said before, people are talking to us and we have to listen,” Scott said. “Yeah, we’re listening. Yes, we will support. Yes, we are fully committed to implementing this resolution, and as the person who is charged with speaking on behalf of the department — and I can speak for the command staff and members of this department — Black lives do matter, and they matter to this Police Department.”

Commissioner Dion-Jay Brookter, who co-wrote the resolution, said the idea started over the past month as he met with members of the community who said they wanted to see the department express its support for Black lives.

“This came directly from the community,” Brookter said. “We needed to show unity and solidarity and say that Black lives do matter. My life matters. My 5-year-old niece’s life matters.”

The commissioner noted that the posters will simply say Black lives matter, without a capital “L” or “M” like the movement.

“This is just one small step to the reforms that we know need to happen,” Brookter said. “This is by no means to undermine or take the place of reforms we need to push forward.”

Not everyone in the department, however, supported the measure ahead of Wednesday’s vote.

The San Francisco Police Officers Association sent the commission a letter saying the union supported the notion that Black and brown lives matter, but a directive to install the posters “establishes a new precedent that raises concerns about introducing political agendas and wedge issues into the safe harbor of police stations.”

An unspecified number of officers contacted the union with concerns about the resolution, according to the letter.

“Police stations are places for the citizens of San Francisco to seek help and assistance when they have become victims of crimes,” Rockne A. Lucia, a lawyer for the police union, wrote in the letter. “They are not places for political endorsements or alignment with political organizations.”

On Thursday, police union President Tony Montoya issued a statement saying the commissioners “should put away their soapboxes and stop their political grandstanding.” He noted that the department recorded a 31% increase in homicides at the end of last month compared to last year, and car break-ins are “rampant.”

“It’s time for the commissioners to get beyond hashtags, posters and politics because our community is depending on them and all of us to make San Francisco a safer place for everyone,” Montoya said.

Commissioner John Hamasaki said people who have asked what the point of a poster is raise a fair question. It’s symbolic, he said, and symbols have meaning.

“A sign is not the answer, but it’s a step — and it’s a step of recognizing the harm that we’ve caused and acknowledging that Black lives are equal, that Black people should be respected, treated fairly,” Hamasaki said.

The US House Committee on Appropriations has denied a funding request from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for fiscal 2021 for establishing a uranium stockpile. The committee requested further information from the department on the justification for the reserve and how it will be implemented.

However, in a 13 July report accompanying the House energy and water development appropriations bill for fiscal 2021, which begins on 1 October, the committee said the DOE "has been unable to provide specific information about how it would implement the programme, including in congressional justifications, briefings, and in responses to questions from the committee about how the funds would be spent, including the process for the purchase, conversion, or sale of uranium in a reserve".

The committee said it is concerned about "the lack of justification for a reserve and potential market implications of establishing a reserve for commercial purposes". It also noted the DOE "will require a domestic source of uranium for defence purposes in the coming decades".

The committee requested DOE submit a plan for the proposed establishment of a uranium reserve within 180 days. The plan, it said, shall include the legal authorities in place or needed to establish and operate a uranium reserve, including the purchase, conversion, and sale of uranium; a ten-year implementation plan of the activities for establishment and operations of a uranium reserve; and a ten-year cost estimate.

"A Chinese hydrologist who helped do the feasibility study on 3 Gorges has several issues with the dam and its possibility of collapse. The left bank was examined by westerm experts who said the dam wasn’t up to standards. Not enough rebar, substandard concrete. It’s important to realized that this dam was designed in the 1980s and built from 1992 to 2009, a time when China's technical prowess was not yet developed. The containment reservoir isn’t large enough. Initially they claimed the dam was built for a 10000 year flood, then a 1000 year flood, then a 100 and finally said that the dam couldn’t be relied upon to control flooding. In addition, the spillways are improperly designed to that when they’re open they cause flooding down river at least 5 times faster than before there was a dam. In addition, the dam had never run all the turbine at once probably because of the fear of massive flooding down river. Yesterday was the first time they all ran at once. Also yesterday there was a 4.5 earthquake near the dam, which raised the risk of landslides. And we’ve still got another month of this to go.

The concrete is shifting accord to Weinlow because the large concrete blocks are not anchored to the bedrock. Shortly after the dam was opened in 2009 cracks started forming in the concrete. A concrete expert was brought in and said they were minor superficial cracks.

Many YouTube videos have been pulled down, when their Chinese masters snap their fingers, American social media and mainstream media jump to their feet. Ask why the issue of the 3 Gorges structural integrity is not being addressed by any western media. If this dam collapses it will be the single greatest disaster in recorded history. There are 66 nuclear powers down stream from the dam and there 400-600 million people there as well as a number of major cities. Think about that.

"Resurfaced video shows that a Trump campaign official appeared on a streaming internet show linked to the "QAnon" conspiracy theory.

Erin Perrine, the campaign's director of press communications, appeared by audio as a guest on streaming program The Common Sense Show last October. The show promotes the QAnon theory, according to liberal media watchdog group Media Matters—a theory which claims that unsourced, anonymous and evidence-free posts online reveal that President Donald Trump is secretly fighting a "deep state" of Satan-worshipping pedophiles bent on destroying him.

Prior to the discussion, one of the show's hosts said he had previously taken part in "numerous conversations" with Perrine. Perrine's appearance on the show did not discuss the conspiracy theory, with her comments instead focused on repeating campaign talking points and recruiting the show's viewers to promote and support Trump's campaign.

During the interview, a host mentioned comments alluding to a conspiracy from former General Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser. Flynn posted a video of himself earlier this month that featured his recitation of a QAnon slogan, although his attorney later denied that he had intentionally repeated the slogan."

Fewer ICU Patients Dying From COVID-19, Study Suggests

As cases of the CCP virus continue to surge around the world, new data suggests that fewer intensive care patients are dying from COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.

The study, published Wednesday in the journal Anaesthesia, suggests that the increase in survival rate for ICU patients could be due at least in part to improvements being made in the healthcare response as medical professionals continue to learn more about how to best treat the virus.

Overall, the average mortality rates for COVID-19 intensive care patients followed in the study fell to just under 42 percent at the end of May from almost 60 percent since the end of March.

Study authors also suggest that hospital ICUs might have been under greater pressure early in the pandemic. The rapid spread of the CCP virus, coupled with the large volume of patients requiring breathing support, placed “unprecedented demand” on ICU services, researchers wrote.

Authors of the study also suggest that there is a possibility that mortality rates were overestimated in earlier, smaller studies.

“The important message, however, is that early reports of in‐ICU mortality appear to have over‐estimated mortality as now calculated,” they said.

"Plans put forward by Donald Trump and his education secretary to reopen America’s schools in the fall are “reckless” and could result in many teachers leaving the profession, the president of one of the country’s biggest teaching unions has warned.

The new school year is just weeks away in the “sun belt”, the region which stretches from southern California to Florida, as coronavirus spreads like wildfire. But the Trump administration has pushed ahead with calls for schools across the country to reopen fully, despite widespread safety concerns.

Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, told the Guardian she watched Betsy DeVos, the education secretary, with disbelief that turned to anger when she appeared on TV this week to call on schools to be “fully operational” this fall.

“It’s as if Trump and DeVos want to create chaos and want to jeopardize reopening,” Weingarten said in an interview. “There’s no other reason why they would be this reckless, this callous, this cruel.”

Florida is setting new infection and death records almost daily. California is returning to lockdown, with bars, restaurants and even offices shuttered. Texas and Arizona are requesting refrigerator trucks as cases increase and morgues are expected to fill to capacity.

The Trump administration has made school reopenings one of its main priorities as it attempts to deal with the coronavirus crisis, with less that four months to go until the November election. Trump has tweeted multiple times that schools “must” reopen in the fall, and berated the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines on reopening schools as too “tough” and “expensive”.

Trump has also threatened to withhold federal funding from schools that do not reopen because of coronavirus concerns. Although that is not within his power, Republicans in Congress are now looking to try to attach conditions to emergency school funding in the forthcoming coronavirus relief package.

In her television appearance, DeVos excoriated those schools that have opted for online learning or part-time returns.

This has foiled months of work from Weingarten’s union, which has been conducting its own surveys on how to help teachers back to work. In June, two-thirds of the AFT’s 1.7 million members said they would prefer to teach in person at least part-time – on the condition there were safeguards such as masks, physical distancing, ventilation and sanitation."

People are never truly recovered from the disease, according to the way PHE collects data, and any deaths are blamed on the coronavirus regardless of their real cause.

Dr Yoon Loke, a pharmacologist at the University of East Anglia, told MailOnline his 'best guess' was that more than 1,000 people have had their deaths wrongly recorded as caused by Covid-19.

He warned that it is 'not a good way of collecting data', has had a significant impact in the past two months and is happening because PHE 'chose a quick and easy technique'.

The statistical flaw is likely why the daily death tolls hardly seem to be going down in England, he added in a blog post with Oxford University's Professor Carl Heneghan.

And they may not hit zero 'for months to come' because of a long tail of elderly people who beat Covid-19 but will die of other causes, Dr Loke added.

Researchers have raised concerns regularly about the way the Government is counting Covid-19 victims and say the figures 'vary substantially from day to day'.

The way PHE counts victims on a daily basis works by it combing through records of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past to see if they have died.

Some of the biggest investors in the world would see their holdings "go dark" if the SEC implements a new rule concerning Form 13F disclosures that it has recently proposed.

Names like Paulson, Einhorn, Druckenmiller, Bacon, Tudor Jones and Soros could all see an added layer of opacity to their holdings as a result of the SEC's proposal to limit Form 13F filers to those who hold stakes of $3.5 billion or more. Even Ray Dalio, who manages $138 billion, could see added opacity to his holdings as a result of the rule. His firm holds only $5 billion in stocks.

The current threshold for Form 13F filers is $100 million and the value of most of these firms' holdings in the U.S. is less than the proposed $3.5 billion threshold requirement.

Even Paul Singer's Elliot Management could wind up going dark, as his firm has only about $3.4 billion in stocks and and convertible bonds and another $2 billion in equities, according to Bloomberg. Managers like Leon Cooperman have said that it would be nice to reduce the regulatory burden required for the current threshold.

NIRI spokesman Ted Allen thinks the new rule is a compromise for managers in exchange for requiring more timely 13F reports and a potential rule change that would require firms to disclose their short positions.

Allen said: “If this rule goes through, you will see more small and mid-sized companies getting ambushed by hedge funds. This will increase activism in all of the mid-cap companies because there will be less transparency.”

Andrew Park, a senior policy analyst at Americans for Financial Reform, has concerns about the new requirement: “I’m certain you could see firms that want to cap at $3.5 billion. There’s a pretty stark difference of having $3.49 billion versus $3.51 billion given these reporting requirements.”

"There have been significant developments in the Twitter hack which saw the takeover of many high-profile accounts, among them Apple, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Mike Bloomberg, Kayne West, Uber, Floyd Mayweather, Warren Buffett and Barack Obama.

Twitter said yesterday that passwords were not compromised, but it subsequently locked all accounts where there was an attempted password change within the past 30 days …

The official Twitter Support account says this is purely precautionary, but it does suggest the company is less confident in its understanding of what may have occurred during the hack.

We have no evidence that attackers accessed passwords. Currently, we don’t believe resetting your password is necessary.

Out of an abundance of caution, and as part of our incident response yesterday to protect people’s security, we took the step to lock any accounts that had attempted to change the account’s password during the past 30 days […]

If your account was locked, this does not necessarily mean we have evidence that the account was compromised or accessed. So far, we believe only a small subset of these locked accounts were compromised, but are still investigating and will inform those who were affected.

We’re working to help people regain access to their accounts ASAP if they were proactively locked. This may take additional time since we’re taking extra steps to confirm that we’re granting access to the rightful owner.

Why Donald Trump’s account wasn’t hacked

Twitter has revealed that a total of 130 accounts were targeted in the attack. It has not stated how many of these accounts were successfully taken over.

With the hacker(s) able to take over so many high-profile accounts, including former president Barack Obama, it seems surprising that Trump’s account wasn’t affected.

However, a New York Times piece says additional safeguards are in place to protect his account."

US Navy Flexes Military Muscle With Renewed Dual Carrier Strike Group Drills in South China Sea

The United States deployed a quarter of its carrier fleet to the Pacific a month ago amid soaring tensions with China over Hong Kong, coronavirus, trade and Beijing’s entrenchment in the South China Sea. Chinese media have warned that the country could deploy “countermeasures” against the US warships, including carrier-killing ballistic missiles.

The USS Ronald Reagan and USS Nimitz aircraft carrier strike groups have begun naval drills in the waters of the South China Sea for the second time in two weeks.

The strike groups, manned by over 12,000 US personnel, and equipped with over 120 aircraft between the two carriers, plus half-a-dozen guided missile cruiser and guided-missile destroyer escorts, are carrying out the drills “to maintain warfighting readiness and proficiency,” according to the US Pacific Fleet.

The crisis has pushed the DoD to accelerate efforts under President Donald Trump's July 2017 executive order to secure supply chains and strengthen the Defense Industrial Base, or DIB, she explained.

"We identified a lot of single-source, offshore supply chain critical items" that could be produced in the U.S., including microelectronics, Lord said.

The DoD "also advanced pharmaceutical ingredients that go into our drugs," she said, adding that much of generic drug production now comes from China.

Most chief executives are well aware of the challenges of doing business in China, Lord said, but there "wasn't really a compelling reason to reshore" and bring the work back to the U.S. until COVID-19 hit.

She stressed her continuing concern about "adversarial capital" taking over U.S. firms through shadow third parties controlled by China.

"We have made amazing inroads in coming back up to prior productivity levels" throughout the Defense Industrial Base despite the pandemic, although shipbuilding and aircraft production have lagged behind, Lord said.

The major concern is for aircraft manufacturers who supply the DoD, as well as the commercial aircraft industry, she explained.

"Those dual-use providers have been particularly hard hit," as air travel has cratered during the pandemic, Lord said.

In addition to defending against inroads by China, Lord said she intends to go on offense by boosting weapons exports.

"In the next six months, I very much hope to open the envelope, particularly on some of the weapons technology that we can export," she said.

Lord said she wants to "beef up what we're doing with" Britain, Canada and Australia.

"There are many others out there that we can work more closely with," she added.

An official statement released on Tuesday reported that the Bolivian senate has given its approval for the use of chlorine dioxide as a treatment for the novel coronavirus disease.

According to a report, Bolivia's lawmakers approved a bill that "authorizes the preparation, marketing, supply and use of the chlorine dioxide solution for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus."

However, it would still need the acceptance and approval of the country's lower house and its President before it can be legally used as a treatment to COVID-19.

Falsely promoted on the internet as a "miracle cure solution" or MMS for years, chlorine dioxide is, in truth, a yellow to reddish-yellow hazardous gas that decomposes rapidly in air. Exposures to large amounts of chlorine dioxide may vary between adults and children. The former would have breathing difficulties as the compound reduces the ability of blood to carry oxygen while the latter's brain development would be significantly delayed.

Despite its harmful effects, its use has become more popular in South American countries including Bolivia as its people fearfully face the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic.

A former employee has been arrested in the grisly murder of tech CEO Fahim Saleh, sources told The Post Friday. Tyrese Devon Haspil, 21, is in custody and expected to be charged with the murder of Saleh — who was found decapitated and dismembered inside his Lower East Side apartment on Tuesday, the sources said. Haspil worked as Saleh’s chief of staff at his venture capital firm Adventure Capital — but acted as his personal assistant. The motive behind Saleh’s slaying allegedly involves stolen cash, sources said. The entrepreneur, 33, learned that Haspil allegedly swiped $100,000 from him — but instead of ratting him out to authorities, he brokered a repayment plan with the younger man. But at some point, Haspil allegedly reneged on the deal.

“This was an act of charity that turned into an act of murder,” the source said. Saleh’s body was discovered Tuesday by a concerned cousin who hadn’t heard from him in days, sources previously told The Post. He was killed Monday, with Haspil allegedly first zapping him with a Taser and then fatally stabbing him, the New York Times reported. Haspil then allegedly returned the next day to chop up Saleh’s body and clean up the crime scene. Security footage from inside the elevator shows Haspil using a portable vacuum to try and cover his tracks, the Times said. Sources told The Post that investigators linked Haspil to the slaying through forensic evidence left behind on the Taser. Surveillance video from Saleh’s East Houston Street apartment building shows the businessman and a smartly dressed Haspil riding together in the elevator — which opens straight out to his apartment — on Monday afternoon. It was the last time Saleh was seen alive.

The Supreme Court on Thursday declined to reinstate the vote of nearly one million felons in Florida.

The court declined to revisit a lower court ruling that stops felons with outstanding court-imposed debt from registering to vote.

It’s safe to say Democrats believe the felon vote will help their chances in the Sunshine State.

The Supreme Court on Thursday let stand a lower court ruling that could strip voting eligibility from up to 1 million Florida felons who have completed their sentences but have yet to pay outstanding fines, restitution and other fees.

In an unsigned opinion, the conservative-majority court declined to revisit a federal appeals court ruling that permits Florida to stop felons with outstanding court-imposed debt from registering to vote as a July 20 primary election registration deadline approaches.

Three of the court’s more liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan, dissented.

“Under this scheme, nearly a million otherwise-eligible citizens cannot vote unless they pay money,” wrote Sotomayor, who called the policy a “voter paywall.”

The dispute concerns a 2018 amendment to Florida’s constitution that restored voting rights to those with felony convictions who had completed “all terms” of their sentences.

In April 2019 Jared Kushner announced that more ex-felons registered as Republicans as Democrats in Florida.

UK health minister calls for ‘urgent review’ after scientists expose ‘over-exaggeration’ of Covid-19 death toll

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock has ordered an “urgent review” into how Public Health England (PHE) calculates coronavirus death figures. It comes after two UK-based scientists highlighted the serious flaw in PHE’s statistics.

Hancock called for an investigation on Friday after confirmation that Covid-19 fatality figures for England include people who tested positive for the deadly virus months before they died. However, in other UK nations such as Scotland and Northern Ireland, they only include deaths in their daily count if someone died within 28 days of testing positive for the disease.

The critical difference in how deaths are recorded may explain why England’s death toll has remained higher than its neighboring nations.

It follows an astonishing article published on Thursday by University of East Anglia professor Yoon K Loke and Carl Heneghan, a professor of evidence-based medicine at Oxford University.

The analysis conducted by the two scientific statisticians showed that PHE has been recording the deaths of people who have previously tested positive for the disease as a coronavirus death – no matter if they had fully recovered from the virus before they died.

A patient who has tested positive, but successfully treated and discharged from hospital, will still be counted as a Covid death even if they had a heart attack or were run over by a bus three months later.

In their damning assessment, the pair insisted that it was “time to fix this statistical flaw that leads to an over-exaggeration of COVID-associated deaths.”

These Covid-19 fatalities refer specifically to people that have died in a hospital setting. It’s not yet clear how many deaths in the community may have been recorded this way.

It comes as the latest UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures published on Friday show the death toll involving Covid-19 breaking the 50,000 barrier.

Between March 1 and June 30, there were 50,335 deaths involving coronavirus in England and Wales. 46,736 of those deaths had Covid-19 assigned as the underlying cause of death. ONS’s data is not based on the same apparent anomaly as the PHE figures.

BlackRock alert: New malware can steal passwords and card info from over 300 different Android apps

Analysts have uncovered a new strain of malware that hides itself from Android users and poses as Google updates, in yet another example of increased hacking activity during the pandemic.

Discovered by mobile security firm ThreatFabric in May, the new malware, dubbed ‘BlackRock’, shares a common ancestry with previous banking trojan malware LokiBot.

LokiBot, considered a dead malware for some time now, infiltrates systems and harvests their information.

In the same vein, BlackRock, which shares a common source code ancestry with LokiBot and affects Android devices, invades victims’ devices once downloaded onto a system.

One of the key differentiating factors is that, instead of only targeting banking apps like previous trojans, BlackRock targets a variety of social networking, communication and dating applications.

It is thought that the change in target could be down to the fact that, with the world locked up because of Covid-19, hackers have noticed new opportunities for nefarious activity.

“It therefore seems that the actors behind BlackRock are trying to abuse the growth in online socializing that increased rapidly in the last months due to the pandemic situation,” ThreatFabric’s statement states.

The malware works via ‘overlays’, fake windows placed over legitimate apps that collect login and card data.

Users who download a BlackRock-infected app are then asked to grant it access to the phone's Accessibility feature, which allows it to automate and perform its heinous behaviors.

But that’s not all: such access can also allow the malware to intercept SMS messages, spam contacts, log key taps and even sabotage mobile antivirus apps. The full list of actions can be found in the report.

BlackRock currently disguises itself as fake Google update packages offered on third-party sites, and has yet to be seen on the Google Play app store.

It is usually only a matter of time before such malware migrates, however, as has been documented with past threats.

Seattle City Council Member Suggests Firing White Officers In Massive Reduction Of Police Department

The Seattle City Council is facing something of a dilemma in its popular pledge of the Seattle City Council to cut the police budget by 50 percent. To do so would require firing a significant number of police officers, which is also popular. The problem is that the firing would be done by seniority and many of the less senior officers are black.

The solution according to City Council member Lisa Herbold is simple: fire officers based on their race.

While that would be the definition of racial discrimination, Herbold clearly believes that it is discrimination for a good cause. The federal courts are likely to disagree. Most notably, Herbold’s call for racial discrimination against white officers would seek to undue the work of Justice Thurgood Marshall who insisted that racial discrimination unlawful and evil regardless of the race you want to disenfranchise or discriminate against.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best released a video calling the plan of Herbold and others “completely reckless.” She also sent a letter to Mayor Jenny Durkan warning that dramatic cuts would require the layoff of hundreds of officers. The Police Department also warned that the firings would include many minority officers.

‘Sickening, if true’: Ex-NY police chief says 27 cops reportedly assigned to protect BLM mural as violent crime soars

As New York grapples with a wave of deadly shootings and violent lawlessness, Mayor Bill de Blasio has reportedly devoted three shifts of nine police officers to protecting the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Trump Tower.

Bernard Kerik, who was police commissioner of New York under former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, said he heard Thursday that de Blasio has one sergeant and eight other officers assigned to guarding the Fifth Avenue mural during each of three daily shifts. “Violence, shootings, and murder is up in NYC and this clown has three sergeants and 24 cops guarding a mural! If true, #SICKENING,” Kerik tweeted.

Black conservative Derrick Gibson, who is running for governor of New York, appeared to confirm Kerik’s report, tweeting that he “was just there and spoke to the cops,” who, he claimed, were “not happy” about “getting paid to baby sit paint.”

Kerik is a frequent commentator on policing issues and retains ties to New York law enforcement circles. De Blasio and his wife helped paint the mural on July 9, and after a vandal splashed red paint on the mural on Monday, the mayor responded by saying, “The Black Lives Matter movement is more than words, and it can’t be undone.”

The notion that the city would devote heavy resources to defending the BLM mural after cutting next year’s police budget by $1 billion amid a crime wave struck a nerve with de Blasio’s critics.

“He is spending his reduced police budget on guarding his arts and craft project instead of New York lives,” Houston lawyer Howard Steele tweeted.

Some pointed to the irony in having scores of police officers protect a mural in support of a movement that has backed calls to defund police.

New York has been plagued by a surge in shootings and other violence since anti-racism protests sprang up across the US following the killing of unarmed black man George Floyd in police custody on May 25. On Monday alone, 18 people were shot in 14 separate incidents. On Wednesday, department chief Terence Monahan and six other New York police officers were injured in clashes with protesters on the Brooklyn Bridge.

The daughter of one extremely rich man and the longtime confidante of another, Ghislaine Maxwell has always enjoyed proximity to wealth. But how much money she has herself is a mystery. Maxwell, who has pleaded not guilty to charges she recruited girls for sexual abuse by Jeffrey Epstein, is spending the next year in jail in part because her “opaque” finances led the judge overseeing the case to conclude she was an extraordinary flight risk. “At a basic level, the defense argument is that she cannot remember off the top of her head just how many millions of dollars she has,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Alison Moe said at Maxwell’s bail hearing on Tuesday. The prosecutor said Maxwell’s claims to have less than $1 million in the bank and no monthly income was “implausible.” Evidence of great wealth on Maxwell’s part, especially if the money came from Epstein, could bolster prosecutors’ depiction of her as fully complicit in his crimes. Her lawyers have so far suggested Maxwell, 58, is less wealthy than many believe and sought to distance her from Epstein’s private-jet and private-island lifestyle.

Epstein, who died in jail last August in an apparent suicide after being arrested on sex-trafficking charges, left an estate estimated to be worth around $630 million. Nicholas Biase, a spokesman for Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss, and Mark Cohen, a lawyer for Maxwell, didn’t respond to emails seeking comment about Maxwell’s finances. At the bail hearing, prosecutors said they’d identified more than 15 different bank accounts associated with Maxwell from 2016 to the present with balances ranging from hundreds of thousands of dollars to more than $20 million. She sold a Manhattan townhouse for $15 million in 2016 and still has one in London that she offered as a bail guarantee. It’s also unclear whether Maxwell has access to funds from an unidentified spouse mentioned by prosecutors Tuesday. She previously toured the secluded New Hampshire estate where she was arrested July 2 with a man who said he was her husband. According to prosecutors, the property was actually purchased by Maxwell for $1 million in cash using a limited liability company. After she was arrested, she told authorities she didn’t know the name of the company that owned the house and that she merely had permission to stay there.

The government further said it had information that, between 2007 and 2011, more than $20 million was transferred from offshore accounts associated with Jeffrey Epstein to several associated with Maxwell. Millions were later transferred back. Jordan Waxman, managing partner of New York wealth management firm Nucleus Advisors, said $20 million seemed a low amount for someone using offshore accounts. It was possible that was just the tip of the iceberg, he said. “I would venture to say 20 is probably what they found so far and that the net worth would be substantially more,” said Waxman. “The other thing is Jeffrey Epstein allegedly was worth $570-or-so million. What was she doing as his No. 2 and only with $20 million?” Of course, Epstein’s operation was far from a typical money management business. He made a good part of his fortune advising lingerie titan Les Wexner on his money, real estate and other billionaire problems until the two cut ties in 2007. Epstein invested in hedge funds and advised other super-wealthy people, including Leon Black, on tax and philanthropy. There are no indications that Ghislaine directly helped Epstein with financial matters. Instead, Maxwell, who grew up in British high society and graduated from Oxford University, introduced Epstein to the global elite, including politicians and royalty. After arriving in New York in the wake of her father’s death and ensuing scandal, she grew tight with Epstein in the 1990s. They were initially romantically involved, but remained close, and Epstein called Maxwell his “best friend” in a 2003 Vanity Fair article. A trained helicopter pilot, she even transported him to his private island.

At the hearing, Maxwell’s lawyer Cohen pushed back at the government’s claims about his client’s wealth, particularly allegations that she was “associated” with 15 accounts. “No detail, no explanation to the court, just more dirt,” Cohen said. “Well, she has three bank accounts that she disclosed.” He said it was possible there were other accounts related to a now-defunct non-profit that Maxwell formerly ran that they were willing to track down if the court deemed it important.

A video produced by the district office of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg features a sticker promoting the far-left extremist Antifa group as part of a presentation for an anti-right-wing extremism award.

The video, which promotes the Silvio-Meier Prize, features a sticker that states “Antifa is Love”.

According to the Berlin government website, the prize is awarded to those who take “a clear position against right-wing extremism, racism, exclusion, discrimination, and wants to encourage active, non-violent advocacy for freedom, political and cultural emancipation regardless of origin, religion, social position, or sexual identity, and support and honour appropriate action”.

Named after Silvio Meier, an activist stabbed to death by neo-Nazis in 1992, the prize claims to champion non-violent advocacy. But Antifa, particularly in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, has been known for acts of violence for decades toward police and political opponents.

Last weekend, a mob of around 50 Antifa extremists destroyed 19 cars in the district near the Liebigstrasse 34 and Rigaer Strasse 94 buildings which have been squatted and occupied by Antifa for years.

The violence, which included at least 13 local buildings being damaged, was in response to raids by local police at the “Riga 94” building last week.

On Monday, a property manager, construction workers, and a lawyer for the owner of Riga 94 attempted to enter the building but were attacked by Antifa militants. Police later arrived and allegedly used tear gas on the far-left occupiers.

Antifa violence has escalated in Germany in recent years, with a German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) report released last month claiming that it was not unthinkable far-left extremists may engage in targetted killings of political opponents in the near future.

Britain’s defence minister has said that the UK must evolve its defence capabilities to respond to new threats from the skies from hostile actors like Russia and China.

Addressing the Air and Space Power conference on Wednesday on the future of combat air systems, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said that to prepare for modern warfare, defence strategy “requires a rebalancing from Industrial Age to Information Age capabilities – investing in cyber, space, electronic warfare, AI, robotics, and autonomy – coupled with their integration with the best of what already exists”.

“The global picture has changed. Threats are coming from all different angles,” Mr Wallace said, adding that the country will have to prepare for what the “air and space environment of 2030, 2040 or even 2050 will look like” and consider “what will the role of our air and space forces” be.

Cyberwarfare, as well as the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) for intelligence and tactical strikes, pose a threat to national security, as does failure to remain “as nimble as our rivals” in reacting to the “disruptive capability” of the “aggressive application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing”.

In terms of defending the West’s fragile communications system, the defence minister said that “we know, all the while, that Russia and China are developing offensive weapons in space, [which is] a major cause for concern given that satellites don’t just provide our global communications, critical intelligence, and surveillance and navigation, but underpin our critical national infrastructure from mobile phones, to cashpoints, to the stock market.

“That’s why, in the future, what’s above you will be often more important than what’s in front of you.”

Alexandra Stickings, a research fellow for space policy at the Royal United Services Institute, told The Times on Thursday that hostile actors are capable of using lasers to “blind” satellites. Satellites are also vulnerable to hacking and high-power microwave frequencies that can disrupt internal electronics. Russia is reportedly performing tests to determine how close they can get to a satellite to “interfere with it or intercept information”, Ms Stickings said.

A U.S. military commander told TIME magazine in February that a pair of Russian satellites were following an American military satellite. Russia had launched inspection satellites in 2017. In 2007, China had successfully launched a missile from Earth that took out one of its own weather satellites.

The United States’s Space Force also reportedly has the capability to jam enemy satellite transmissions.

The newly-formed Space Force, the sixth branch of the U.S. military, was signed into being in December 2019. President Donald Trump said at the time: “Space is the world’s newest warfighting domain… American superiority in space is absolutely vital.”

The United States and the United Kingdom are not the only Western nations arming themselves for future warfare. France’s Emmanuel Macron announced in July 2019 that he would launch a “high command for space”, calling the new military focus on space a “true national security issue”.

More Than 73K Missing in Mexico

More than 73,200 people in Mexico are now missing without a trace.

This number represents a symbol of escalating violence, according to new data released by the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons.

The data show that disappearances began to escalate during the Felipe Calderon administration (2006-2012) when it pursued cartels with military force. During that time, 37,601 people disappeared and 15,986 are still missing.

During the Enrique Peña Nieto’s years (2012-2018), 34,110 vanished after continuing the Calderon policy on cartels.

In December 2018, President Andres Manuel Obrador (AMLO), halted the strategy and created the National Guard in its place. According to official figures, another 27,871 disappeared under AMLO.

“Ambiguous loss” is a term used to define the experiences of families coping with missing persons. It is enhanced by the dearth of information even years later.

Mexican cartels continue to use effective techniques to dispose of murder victims. One favorite method is “guiso” or “stew.” Corpses are placed in acid until they are broken down to a soupy consistency. When acid is not available, bodies are cut to pieces and burned in metal barrels using diesel. Burning appears to be far more common due to cheap access.

Clandestine graves are the third choice among cartel operatives. More than 3,000 graves containing missing persons have been located across the country, according to the first-ever official tally.

Roughly 4,874 missing persons were at least partially located across the 3,025 sites.

In 2019, the National System of Public Security reported that 35,588 people were victims of homicides, the highest number in one year ever recorded. That includes 1,006 women. Mexico has no clear winning strategy to counter the violence orchestrated by the cartels against innocent civilians.

Given the number of medical personnel using HCQ to ward off COVID illness, I need to get this out there. There is a small (very small long term use) risk to the eyes with chronic use over 5 years

If you are using HCQ, and you are seeing "floaties" in your eyes, be aware that in SOME people (genetically speaking) the drug can cause destruction of the eye retina over time.

"Floaties" would be likely to show up as retina degrades I would think.

—- For non scientist, what you would see is something like a fuzzy out of focus dust particle floating and moving around obstructing your vision. On a gloss of the literature, I think they are reporting that the damage does not reverse?

In the case of COVID most are using HCQ short term, no worries.

However.... floaties....if you have them already?

I'm no doc, but, I would recommend using strong full leaf green tea as your zinc ionopore to defend yourself against the COVID and possibly other viruses instead of HCQ. This is what I would do, personally, after reading the research.

The EGCG molecule in strong green tea like "gunpowder" green tea is a great substitute zinc ionopore, and the tea is packed with antioxidants to boot. Quercetin works about half as well as EGCG as a zinc ionopore, according to the research posted here back sometime in March if I recall.

Just a heads up to our medical community.

HCQ has a good safety record, but, we need to watch the retina of the eyes if medical personnel start using this combination every year to keep the virus attacks down during flu season. There are about 6 research articles covering this I found so far. Risk is small, but, noteworthy if using as preventative for years. Sending link and pic related to one of them. He further compared Israel to apartheid South Africa, and insinuated that Israel had brought Palestinian terror attacks upon itself. The Jewish Labour Movement called for the MP’s resignation, saying on Sunday in comments reported by Jewish News: “Lloyd Russell-Moyle has, in his short time in Parliament, managed to attract constant controversy in relation to antisemitism, which has caused deep upset and distress within the Jewish community in Brighton and Hove.”

“In isolation, each event would have at best pointed to a blind spot on anti-Jewish racism. Taken together they appear to be a pattern of behaviour that is simply not acceptable for a front bench member of the Parliamentary Labour Party,” the statement added.

On Friday, the princess, 31, married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 37, in an extremely scaled down ceremony at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park. Per People, about 20 guests were in attendance to witness the nuptials including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and Beatrice's parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah, the Duchess of York.

Senate Republicans are preparing to offer a five-year shield from coronavirus lawsuits as part of a forthcoming relief proposal.

The proposal would be retroactive from December 2019 through 2024, or the end of an emergency declaration issued by the Department of Health and Human Services if that is later, according to a draft summary obtained by The Hill.

The proposal, which is currently being reviewed by the White House, would give federal courts jurisdiction over lawsuits related to personal injuries or medical liability tied to coronavirus infections, preventing lawsuits in state courts, where business groups have warned about uneven laws.

Institutions including businesses, colleges, schools and churches would only be legally liable if they didn't make "reasonable efforts" to follow public health guidelines and "committed an act of gross negligence or intentional misconduct," according to the summary.

Health care facilities and workers would also only be legally liable for "gross negligence and intentional misconduct."

Liability reform is considered a top priority for Senate Republicans, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), in the upcoming negotiations over Congress's fifth coronavirus package.

McConnell is expected to unveil the GOP proposal next week and "socialize" it with members of his conference, who have been scattered across the country during the last two weeks.

McConnell, speaking in Kentucky over the recess, repeatedly warned that coronavirus legislation will not pass without liability protections in it.

"It must have, must, no bill will pass the Senate without liability protection for everyone related to the coronavirus. .... Nobody should have to face an epidemic of lawsuits on the heels of the pandemic that we already have related to the coronavirus," McConnell said during a stop in Kentucky this week.

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a member of GOP leadership, added that the GOP proposal would be "relatively narrow and relatively short."

"It's not just a business protection, it's also school protection, a health care provider protection," Blunt said.

But Democrats have appeared skeptical of the forthcoming GOP proposal, questioning if it would prevent workers from being able to sue over unsafe working conditions as more businesses begin to reopen.

"We think there's a path to talk about protecting businesses and workers and customers who come in, and that is our OSHA provision. But again, let's hear what everybody has to say," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told reporters last week.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) called the GOP proposal, which he noted he had not seen, a "liability shield for CEOs."

The Pentagon has effectively banned the Confederate flag at US military sites around the world, without explicitly saying so, in a new policy unveiled on Friday.

A Department of Defense memo has outlined the flags that are deemed acceptable to display in Department of Defense workplaces and common areas – and the Confederate flag is not among those listed.

The LGBT pride flag and Black Lives Matter banners are also absent from the list of acceptable emblems.

Senate GOP set to ramp up Obama-era probes

Senate Republicans are preparing to ramp up their Obama-era probes, pushing the controversial investigations back into the spotlight as the 2020 elections heat up.

The efforts have sparked high-profile tensions with Senate Democrats and public rebukes from former Vice President Joe Biden’s orbit. They view the efforts as an attempt to meddle in the 2020 elections, where Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee.

But with the Senate coming back to Washington on Monday, and the number of legislative days quickly dwindling, Republicans are preparing to step up their efforts.

"In July we will be having some public hearings. ... There's a lot to be done between now and September,” Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said during a social media Q&A, adding that he would “investigate the investigators.”

Graham specifically singled out former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, saying he wants her to testify about a Jan. 5, 2017, White House meeting, which has been an area of interest for Republicans. At the meeting, then-President Obama and then-FBI Director James Comey discussed sharing national security information related to Russia with incoming national security advisor Michael Flynn.

Yates did not respond to a request for comment about whether Graham, or his staff, had reached out about testifying. Asked if they had reached out to Yates or her representatives, a spokesman for Graham sidestepped the question, saying, “Stay tuned!”

Meanwhile, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, told The Hill that he wants to release an interim report on an investigation linked to Biden's son Hunter Biden by the time the Senate leaves for a four-week break on Aug. 7. His staff is already drafting parts of the report.

“We’ve got a very detailed timeline. ... I’ve told staff I certainly want to get something out before the August recess, as incomplete as it is,” Johnson told The Hill. “At some point in time we’ve got [to say,] ‘OK, here’s what we’ve got. Here’s the remaining questions that need to be answered.’”

The two chairmen, as well as Senate Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), are months into wide-ranging investigations that touch on some of the biggest grievances President Trump and conservative allies have, including the origins of the Russia investigation, the court established by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and Hunter Biden.

The Russian airspace control capabilities detected a Norwegian Air Force P-3C Orion reconnaissance plane on July 17, 2020, the Center said.

"The fighter aircraft of the Northern Fleet’s Air Force and Air Defense Army carried out its shadowing," it said.

Hanban, the parent organization of Chinese Communist Party-funded Confucius Institutes, has rebranded itself as the Ministry of Education Centre for Language Education and Cooperation following an onslaught of bad press for spearheading China’s international propaganda campaign. Hanban ditched its 16-year-old name in hopes to abandon the baggage associated with its Chinese Communist Party (CCP) links. While Confucius Institutes – which operate on over 90 American college campuses and hundreds of K-12 schools – are keen on masquerading as “language and culture” initiatives, Hanban’s status as CCP funded and controlled compelled critics to view them as the party’s international propaganda arm. Confucius Institutes, however, will not change their names, and CCP-run media’s reporting on the matter reveal the shift is in name only, as no substantive changes have been made to address the concerns of those wary of the program’s government ties: “The move will better facilitate Chinese language teaching overseas and disperse the Western misinterpretation that the organization served as China’s ideological marketing machine, analysts said.” In other words, it’s purely a publicity stunt, and a much-needed one in light of a series of exposés divulging the extent of Hanban’s propaganda campaign.

What’s more, the National Pulse unearthed how the program coerced American schoolchildren to participate in a pen pal exchange with Chinese president Xi Jinping and has targetted classrooms even at the kindergarten level for years. The change did not take the form of an official statement, however, and the Hanban website is still accessible. The newly-named Ministry of Education Centre for Language Education and Cooperation circulated the news via Chinese social media and the change was confirmed in light of state-run media’s use of the term while covering the 2020 National Chinese Language Conference. While the CCP can ditch Hanban in favor of the Ministry of Education Centre for Language Education and Cooperation – straight from the pages of George Orwell’s 1984 – it doesn’t change the fact the organization’s raison d’être is to spread Chinese Communist propaganda.

Navy Sailor Charged with Giving Classified Information to a Russian

A Navy sailor stationed in Portsmouth is facing charges that he gave classified information to a Russian he knew.

Chief Petty Officer Charles T. Briggs is scheduled to be arraigned next week at a general court-martial. Military court documents don’t say what kind of information he’s accused of giving the Russian or how he knew the person.

Briggs, who works in information and technology at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, is charged with unauthorized distribution of classified information obtained from a government computer, obstructing justice, communicating defense information, possessing child pornography, attempting to view child pornography, two counts of violating a general regulation and three counts of making false official statements.

According to the charge sheet, Briggs used a government computer to get secret information on or around Jan. 9, 2019, and had reason to believe the information could be used to “injure the United States or benefit a foreign national.” He was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska at the time.

He had access to national defense information on multiple occasions from October 2018 to January 2019, according to the document.

The charge sheet says Briggs then gave the classified information to a person who the redacted document identifies as a “Russian national,” not authorized to have the information.

Briggs did not report connections to a Russian national and Italian national, according to the charge sheet. It also says he lied on a security clearance pre-screening questionnaire that asked whether he maintained a “close and continuing relationship” with anyone who was not a U.S. citizen.

The document alleges Briggs failed to report his travel to Serbia. It says he also filed paperwork that falsely said he was staying in Nebraska during leave in 2018.

Additionally, Briggs is facing two charges related to child pornography, according to the charge sheet.

He is being held in pretrial confinement, according to the documents. He’s slated for arraignment Wednesday, but a Navy spokesperson said dates are subject to change.

Well, it’s finally happened.

The global oligarchy has now merged with the global communists, and the only losers, will be the vast majority of the planet’s masses and middle class.

When one sees major American corporate icons such as the NBA kow-towing to Communist China and their sensibilities, or when Communist China starts passing global laws such as their National Security Law § 38 which subjects any and all global citizens to arrest and incarceration for life, merely for speaking out and/or criticizing the state, you know the game is over, and the jig is up.

The same thing happened at the end of the Soviet Union, when that nation state’s leaders and their oligarch minions merged in order to perfect and steal their world’s wealth while being protected by the intelligentsia, military, and police, while rupturing the state like a virus.

The same thing is now happening on a global scale.

The world’s wealthiest simply don’t care about the world’s masses, and they have nothing to fear from the state.

The blame squarely falls on the Anti-Trust Divisions of the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, who for years (mainly under the Obama administration) allowed Big Tech and other massive monopolies to grow so large and uncontrollable, that they can literally depose or challenge any type of governmental activity to curtail their anti-competitive or dangerous monopoly power to completely and totally dominate the masses.

Trump’s Anti-Trust Divisions are no less to blame since we are now 3.5 years into his administration, and he hasn’t done anything about this, either (for him, it seems that swelling the economy with unregulated oligarch wealth/power is better than keeping these oligarchs honest, with a consequently smaller Dow Jones Industrial Average).

The head of the Antitrust Division is an Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust appointed by the President of the United States. Since September 2017, the position of Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust has been held by Makan Delrahim. The heads of the FTC Antitrust Division are also equally useless, ineffective, arrogant, and clueless.

True enough, all of those politicians who promised that they would “take on” various monopolies have all “kissed the ring” and instead taken billions of dollars in lobbying costs, consulting fees, speaker fees, and other mechanisms of legalized bribery of state/government officials, all at the expense of the masses and their children.

Meanwhile they are all in the process of riding off into the sunset, while the rest of the world starves and dies off from coronavirus and other possibly man-made/oligarch made/state made laboratory diseases.

Perhaps this coronavirus was just a “dry run,” and the real plague killing off the majority of the global population is yet to come, while the wealthy oligarchs “stay home” because they can, similar to how bank robbers like to see what the speed of the cops will be by staging a break-in.

Either way, what the American people have to realize, is that their elected officials will not protect them, and neither will their favorite multi-national corporations/oligarchs, either.

They’ve chosen whose side they’re on, and it’s not yours.

Like former President George W. Bush once said while addressing his wealthiest donors, “This is an impressive crowd. The haves and the have mores. Some people call you the elite. I call you my base.”

It seems like global, godless, totalitarian government, is just around the corner (months, not years) unless the masses of the world, and especially America, wake up.

Portland, OR—Governor Kate Brown issued the following statement today, following yesterday’s meeting of the Healthy Schools Reopening Council:

“As COVID-19 continues to spread across Oregon, it has become clear that school this fall will not look like a normal year. Many, if not most Oregon students are in districts that will focus on online distance learning or have a hybrid model of some online education and some in-person classroom time.

“I am pushing school officials to make sure underserved and marginalized students––our kids of color and our low-income kids––get the support and opportunities they need. We cannot allow our response to this pandemic to increase racial disparities in educational outcomes.

"Whether or not kids are in school buildings this fall, we must provide the very best possible education for every single Oregon student, while ensuring that the school experience is as safe as possible for everyone: students, educators, support staff, parents, and the community at large."

Members of the council received an update on public health COVID-19 metrics from representatives of the Oregon Health Authority. Acknowledging that variations exist in COVID-19 spread county-by-county, council members began consideration of what specific metrics should guide local decisions about when and whether to shift from in-person to remote instruction during the school year.

They also discussed the specific needs for those students who do enter school buildings and the educators who serve them, including how to implement health and safety measures to limit the spread of the disease, such as the use of face coverings for students, how many students should be in a classroom at one time, and strategies for transportation with school bus capacity limited by physical distancing.

In addition, the council discussed expanded training and support for educators, ensuring all students have ways to access learning and critical support services under hybrid and comprehensive distance learning models, and providing more flexibility for a longer school year.

Student representatives on the council offered compelling examples of the ways schools and educators are vital to student mental health and well-being, and the difficulty of maintaining those connections and support when school buildings are closed.

The Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday released newly declassified documents that they say “significantly undercut” the “reliability” of the infamous Steele dossier from the Russia probe, as well as the accuracy and reliability of the factual assertions in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

The first document, which the committee said spanned 57 pages, is a summary of a three-day interview with ex-British intelligence officer Christopher Steele’s primary sub-source. Steele authored the unverified anti-Trump dossier of claims about alleged ties between Donald Trump and Russia that served as the basis for FISA warrants obtained against Page.
