Russia targets Poltava military training center with devastating strike – Kiev

The missile attack has resulted in nearly 300 casualties, according to Ukrainian officials

Russian Iskander ballistic missiles have struck a training center in the Ukrainian city of Poltava, according to the government in Kiev, which has estimated the death toll at 50.

The School of Military Communications and Information Technology on the north side of Poltava was home to the 179th Training Center of Ukrainian signalmen, including radar and strike drone operators. It was destroyed by two missiles on Tuesday morning, local authorities have said.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry has put the number of deaths at 49, with 219 injured. Rescue crews managed to save 25 people, of which 11 were pulled from the rubble, according to the military.

Poltava Governor Filip Pronin later updated the casualty toll to 50 dead, more than 235 wounded and 15 missing.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky used the occasion to demand more air defense systems and missiles, as well as permission from his Western backers to launch “long-range strikes” into Russia.

“This is a stunning tragedy for all of Ukraine,” Zelensky’s wife Elena wrote on X, accusing Russia of striking “an educational institution and a hospital,” even though no hospitals are nearby.

According to local media in Poltava, area hospitals are overwhelmed with wounded. Social media posts soliciting blood donations spoke of “190 dead defenders” and many more at risk from their injuries.

Igor Mosiychuk, a former MP and deputy commander of the notorious neo-Nazi Azov regiment, claimed that the attack may have resulted in up to 600 casualties. While blaming Russia for the strike, he also said the military command bears some responsibility for allowing so many high-value soldiers to be in one place without shelter.

The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the strike. In the absence of official information, rumors circulating on Russian social media have alleged the presence of NATO instructors at the school, including some from Sweden.

Poltava is the site of the 1709 battle in which the Russian Army under Peter the Great decisively defeated Swedish invaders under King Charles XII. The Swedes were aided by Cossacks of Ivan Mazepa, who is revered as a hero in modern Ukraine but has long been considered a traitor in Russia.

Many big-name companies this summer have scrapped their diversity, equity and inclusion policies. The manufacturer of Jack Daniel’s whiskey announced it will end its DEI initiatives, saying, “the world has evolved.” Harley-Davidson similarly dropped its DEI policies, saying it will focus on “retaining our loyal riding community.” Tractor Supply said it’s eliminating its DEI roles. “We have heard from customers that we have disappointed them,” the company said.

Companies are also getting pushback from shareholders on their environmental, social and governance policies. A report from shareholder consulting firm Georgeson found that investors submitted more anti-ESG proposals at annual shareholder meetings between July 2023 and May 2024 than in any previous year.

Clinton Judge Ignores Supreme Court’s Presidential Immunity Ruling, Rejects Trump’s Request to Move Bragg’s ‘Hush Money’ Case to a Federal Court

A federal judge ignored the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity and rejected Trump request to move Alvin Bragg’s ‘hush money’ case to a federal court.

Last week President Trump’s lawyers asked a federal court to intervene in Alvin Bragg’s ‘hush money’ case following the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling.

In July the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Trump has absolute immunity for his core Constitutional powers.

The so-called evidence Alvin Bragg used to indict Trump included acts during his time as president.

For example, Alvin Bragg alleged Trump invited National Inquirer CEO David Pecker to the White House in 2017 to thank him for not publishing harmful tabloid stories during the 2016 election.

However, Judge Alvin Hellerstein, a Clinton appointee, rejected Trump’s request to move the case and said “nothing” in the Supreme Court’s ruling affected his previous conclusion that Trump’s payments are considered unofficial acts.

“Nothing in the Supreme Court’s opinion affects my previous conclusion that the hush money payments were private, unofficial acts, outside the bounds of executive authority,” Judge Hellerstein wrote in his decision Tuesday.

“Private schemes with private actors, unconnected to any statutory or constitutional authority or function of the executive, are considered unofficial acts,” Hellerstein wrote.

CNN reported:

A federal judge Tuesday denied Donald Trump’s request to move the New York hush money case to federal court, finding there is nothing in the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling that alters his view of the fact that the payments were “private, unofficial acts.”

Last week, the former president’s attorneys sought to move the state case to federal court, an effort they previously lost, citing the Supreme Court’s decision this summer that granted immunity for some of Trump’s conduct that fell within his official powers. They also urged the judge to postpone Trump’s sentencing, currently set for September 18.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein rejected the long shot bid, saying no facts have changed since he rejected Trump’s attempt to move the case last year. At the time, the judge found that Trump’s reimbursement to Michael Cohen, who facilitated hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, were not official acts he took as president.

Earlier this year Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts after he was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels, AKA, Stephanie Clifford, ‘hush payments’ through his then-attorney Michael Cohen in a scheme to silence her and stop the story about their alleged affair from being published in the National Enquirer.

Yale Divinity Students Forced To Read From Witch's "Spell" At Orientation

The three-day orientation between Aug. 21 to 23 saw a series of talks and activities preparing incoming students for the year ahead, interspersed with small group discussions.

One of these small group periods was the first activity of orientation. Participating as an incoming student in one of these circles, I saw how the discussion opened with a set of “Restorative Circle Rules.” These rules boiled down to a warning to be open minded: all viewpoints were expected to be heard, that you only have to take what you want from the circle and participate as wanted – at least nominally.

After this show of inclusion, we as students were led to read aloud, line by line and one by one, from Adrienne Brown’s “Radical Gratitude Spell.”

Brown (pictured) has been described by Meeting of Minds as a “mixed-race Black queer American writer, community organizer, facilitator, witch and- may I say- goddess.”

Brown herself ascribes to witchcraft, and it informs her public work. Her website describes her as someone who “grows healing ideas in public” through “her writing, which includes short- and long-form fiction, nonfiction, spells, tarot” and “her music, which includes songwriting, singing and immersive musical rituals.”

This context of Brown, her work, and her particular spiritual inclinations was not given to students before participating in the reading. As such, the group reading of the spell took on an undeniable coven-like feeling, with students unable to fully consent to the pseudo-ritual knowingly, despite the Circle Rules.

A second-year student, who requested to remain anonymous, expressed to me a deep concern over this act by the orientation staff. The student called the provided spell “bizarre,” and “gross,” especially for students to not be told of the author or intentions behind the spell before being led to participate.

The Biden-Harris Pentagon is refusing to answer questions from Congress and the media regarding Democrat vice-presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz’s (D-MN) frequent travel to China. The lack of transparency has raised concerns about potential risks to U.S. military members and whether Walz properly disclosed these trips to the Army National Guard during his service.

Typically, U.S. military members, especially those holding a security clearance, are required to report or request permission from their command before traveling overseas—particularly to countries considered adversarial to U.S. interests, such as China. These precautions are necessary as military personnel are prime targets for foreign espionage and exploitation. They often receive briefings on what to watch for before traveling and may be required to debrief upon their return, Breitbart News reports.

In a statement to Breitbart, Banks criticized the Pentagon’s lack of transparency: "The Biden-Harris DOD is once again putting politics ahead of our national security. Tim Walz is bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party and doesn’t belong anywhere near the White House."

Breitbart News also reached out to the Minnesota National Guard for answers on whether Walz requested permission for his China trips or if he held a security clearance during his service. The Guard has not responded, nor has Walz’s spokesperson, Teddy Tschann.

A retired senior non-commissioned officer (NCO) with the Army National Guard told Breitbart News that most staff sergeants or higher in the Army National Guard would typically hold at least an interim security clearance and thus be required to report such trips. Walz traveled annually to China between 1993 and 2003 and was at least a master sergeant by 2004. This suggests he would have needed to report his trips under standard military procedures.

The retired NCO also pointed out that when Walz was promoted to sergeant major (E-9) in 2004, he would have been required to update his SF-86—a government form used for background checks and security clearances—if he was attending the Sergeant Majors Academy. Reports suggest that Walz began the academy but did not complete it, instead opting to retire from the military in 2005, a decision some speculate may have been influenced by potential security clearance issues.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized a new COVID-19 vaccine from Novavax, giving Americans an alternative to shots from Moderna and Pfizer.

Novavax’s protein-based vaccine will be available soon after regulators granted emergency authorization to the Maryland-based company for the product.

FDA officials said that animal testing data supported the decision.

“Today’s authorization provides an additional COVID-19 vaccine option that meets the FDA’s standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization,” Dr. Peter Marks, who directs the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, said in an Aug. 30 statement.

The FDA cleared vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer that are built on messenger ribonucleic acid technology (mRNA) earlier in the month.

Critics say that the agency should not be making an assertion about safety and effectiveness in the absence of clinical trial data.

“The assertion rings hollow when FDA has not required manufacturers of the mRNA biological [products] to provide scientific evidence to the public that safety and effectiveness has been demonstrated,” Barbara Loe Fisher, co-founder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center, told The Epoch Times previously via email.

Novavax President and CEO John C. Jacobs said in a statement that the company’s vaccine showed “robust cross-reactivity against JN.1 lineage viruses” in animals.

JN.1 was displaced in the spring by KP.3 and other variants, according to sequencing performed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The CDC estimates that KP.3 and the closely related KP.3.1.1 caused about four in 10 cases in the two weeks ending Aug. 3. The agency estimated that KP.3.1.1 became the dominant strain by the end of August.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines target KP.3.

On Tuesday, a federal judge rejected Donald Trump’s request to intervene in his New York hush money criminal case.

The case is corrupt, but the New York courts are more corrupt.

Donald Trump tried to delay sentencing [and potential imprisonment] until after the election, which takes place during early voting.

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein ruled that Trump had not satisfied the burden of proof needed for a federal court to take over.

Manhattan prosecutors objected to Trump‘s effort to delay post–trial decisions in the case while he sought to have the federal court step in.

In a letter, they argued that the state had no obligation to postpone the post-trial decisions until after the Hellerstein ruling.

The left remains relentless in its quest to throw as many obstacles in former President Donald Trump’s path as possible — and as Election Day nears, leftists are working overtime.

Special counsel Jack Smith is no exception, reviving his classified documents case against Trump in an effort to put the Republican presidential candidate behind bars.

“New indictment, meet the old indictment,” former U.S. DOJ Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark tells Glenn Beck. “It’s just the same as that old indictment. He’s just reformulated it to try to make it consistent with and fit everything into the third box.”

“The box of everything President Trump did that he had indicted him for the first time, is actually a set of private acts as opposed to a set of official acts, and, therefore, Jack Smith argues he’s not immune,” Clark explains.

“Are they doing this to smear him yet again, so late in the campaign? Or is this a plan just in case he wins, they think this will keep him out of office?” Glenn asks.

“They’re doing it for all of those reasons,” Clark says. “They absolutely want to block him anyway they can, so this is election interference. There’s no way that you should be issuing a new indictment like this using a new grand jury this close to a major presidential election.”

Glenn doesn’t like where this is going.

“I think they’re going to put him in jail in September,” he tells Clark.

Clark, who is preparing to be in Judge Merchan’s court in Manhattan on September 18 if the sentencing goes forward, is concerned as well.

“I bet Judge Merchan is going to go ahead and deny the immunity-based motion for a new trial, and then he’s going to do the sentencing, and I actually would not be surprised if he sentenced President Trump to prison,” Clark says.

However, if Trump is sentenced, there’s still a chance he could win the election.

“In the period after he’s inaugurated,” Clark explains, “any kind of imprisonment would have to be ended or suspended. It would be what lawyers call pre-empted by the Constitution since he would be the duly elected and inaugurated president of the United States.”

“He can’t be kept from exercising those functions by a state conviction,” he adds.

A motion filed by Trump's attorneys on Tuesday revealed that 2024 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump plans to plead not guilty to the charges laid out in the superseding indictment filed on August 27 by special counsel Jack Smith. The motion also stated that Trump waived his right to be present at the arraignment.

"I, President Donald J. Trump, the above-named defendant, in accordance with Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 10(b)(2), do hereby waive my right to be present at Arraignment and I authorize my attorneys to enter a plea of not guilty on my behalf to each and every count of the superseding indictment, Doc. 226. I further state that I have received a copy of the superseding indictment and reviewed it with my counsel," the one-page filing stated.

The 36-page superseding indictment charges Trump with the same counts that were present in the initial August 2023 indictment: Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, and Conspiracy Against Rights.

In a court filing, Smith’s office wrote that the superseding indictment "was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case" and "reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions in Trump v. United States." The Supreme Court ruled on July 1 that a president does have absolute immunity for his core constitutional powers, though not for unofficial acts. The case was handed back down to the lower court to determine whether the actions Trump is being prosecuted are official or unofficial acts. The superseding indictment removed references to the Justice Department after the Supreme Court ruled that "Trump is absolutely immune from prosecution for the alleged conduct involving his discussions with Justice Department officials."

Barry Obama took to X, where he published a pro-Kamala post that grabbed a lot of attention, but mostly for all the wrong reasons.Obama, who absolutely loves “identity politics,” sent out a dog whistle for his latest underwhelming DEI candidate. He posted a “how it started/how it’s going” tweet, featuring a photo of himself from 10 years ago alongside a photo of Kamala, not-so-subtly suggesting that it’s still “fashionable” to elect someone based on race. Yawn.

Once again, the Democrats are focused on gender and skin color, not substance, qualifications, or policy. This is the cornerstone of their failed DEI agenda that is destroying companies all over the nation. Why on earth would we allow it to continue to destroy our country?

This time, however, those positive comments are either far less or buried under a wave of negativity. This seems to signal a shift in public reaction and opinion toward an Obama post. Has he lost his luster? It may be that the American people are starting to see that the only reason the Dems push these mentally soft DEI candidates is because there are much smarter and more power-hungry people standing behind them, pulling the strings and calling the shots. A Pennsylvania court Friday sided with left-wing special interests, blocking the state from enforcing part of a law that required mail ballots to be properly dated in order to be counted

In a 4-1 ruling, which saw President Judge Renée Cohn Jubelirer — elected as a Republican — side with three elected Democrat judges, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania majority sided with the left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union and the Black Political Empowerment Project, among others, declaring the “strict enforcement” of state law (Act 77) requiring election officials to reject improperly dated or undated mail-in ballots “unconstitutional.”

Calling the decision a “wholesale abandonment of common sense” made in an “untethered and unprecedented fashion,” Judge Patricia A. McCullough described in a scathing dissent how the court majority bent over backward to ensure Pennsylvania voters did not have to date their mail-in ballots:

“[T]o reach its desired end, the Majority today (1) finds jurisdiction where it does not exist, (2) ignores more than a century of sound Pennsylvania Supreme Court precedent interpreting the Free and Equal Elections Clause, (3) applies strict scrutiny without any authority for doing so, (4) accepts Petitioners’ invitation to usurp the role of the General Assembly and re-write Act 77 of 2019 (Act 77), and, in a twist of tragic irony, (5) voids altogether absentee and mail-in voting in Pennsylvania.”

Act 77 was passed in 2019 as part of Pennsylvania’s mail-in voting law. State statute includes the requirement that “an absentee ‘elector shall. . .fill out, date and sign the declaration printed on’ the second, or outer, envelope ‘on which is printed the form of declaration of the elector,'” as cited in the majority opinion.

Arguing that the date requirement is a simple standard that does not deny voters franchise, as the majority claimed, McCullough concluded, “I must wonder whether walking into a polling place, signing your name, licking an envelope, or going to the mailbox can now withstand the Majority’s newly minted standard.”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania — which intervened in the case in favor of upholding the law — argued that the date requirement advanced state interest in “preventing fraud,” pointing to a 2022 incident where the use of the requirement unearthed fraud committed by the daughter of a deceased Pennsylvanian.

The majority opinion, however, while citing “prior litigation,” stated that “the date on the outer mail-in ballot envelopes is not used to determine the timeliness of a ballot, a voter’s qualifications/eligibility to vote, or fraud. Therefore, the dating provisions serve no compelling government interest.”

Fire raging in California's Tahoe National Forest threatens community

A wind-whipped wildfire in the Tahoe National Forest, 20 miles north of Truckee, has forced more than 500 people to leave their homes in a small Sierra Nevada community, officials said. The Bear Fire spread rapidly Monday afternoon amid blustery weather and calmed overnight with winds easing and temperatures lowering, the U.S. Forest Service said.

The Bear Fire was first reported at 2 p.m. Monday off Bear Valley Road on the east side of the Tahoe National Forest south of Sierra Brooks in Sierra County. By Tuesday morning, it had grown to 1,391 acres and was zero percent contained, according to the Forest Service.

“The fire is threatening Sierra Brooks with 286 structures and 536 residents under mandatory evacuation orders issued by Sierra County Sheriff’s Office,” the Forest Service said. Get updates on evacuations from the sheriff’s office’s Facebook page. There are 760 residences and businesses in the area without power.

The fire exploded on Monday with winds ranging from 30 mph to 40 mph in the afternoon, said Brittany Whitlam, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Amid high-risk wildfire conditions, the weather service issued a red-flag warning that was in effect through 8 p.m. Monday.

“We had gusty conditions and low relative humidity, which can lead to what we saw yesterday with the wildfire spreading out of control,” Whitlam said. “We had a weather system come through yesterday, so that was the cause of the wind. We’re now on the back side of that system, so we’re expecting lighter winds, more typical breezes this afternoon and more dry conditions.”

Whitlam said winds of 10 mph to 15 mph are expected Tuesday.

Overnight firefighters started to build fire lines, creating breaks in the vegetation to slow the fire's spread. The work is challenging the Forest Service said, as some areas of the fire are in steep, rocky terrain and difficult to access.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Despite these legal challenges, Abbott remains steadfast in his goal of stopping illegal immigration. “Let’s assume Texas does succeed in reducing illegal immigration to zero percent into our state, which is our goal,” Abbott stated. “All those terrorists, all those murderers, all those rapists, they’re just going to go through New Mexico and Arizona and California.” Abbott’s stance underscores his belief that illegal immigration is a nationwide problem that cannot be solved by state efforts alone.

Far-left New Mexico Congressman Gabe Vasquez, a close ally of Harris and in a difficult reelection battle to keep his seat, which stretches across New Mexico’s entire southern border with Mexico, has attempted to come off strong on the border in recent months. However, he has previously called the border barrier “racist,” racist,” urged the Biden-Harris administration to “tear what’s left of it down,” and called it a “vanity project.”

“Gabe Vasquez and many of his fellow progressives just had the rug pulled out from under them by Kamala Harris after her abrupt flip-flop on the border. As a politician unable to think for himself, it won’t be surprising if he, too tries to change his anti-border security position. Even if he tries, Vasquez won’t be able to hide his lengthy pro-illegal immigration record from voters,” said the Congressional Leadership Fund’s Regional Press Secretary Maureen O’Toole.

Sen. Martin Heinrich is also taking the heat for his open-borders stance, being extremely critical of the border wall, calling it a “symbol of hatred, fear, and intolerance.” He is polling within single digits of Republican U.S. Senate nominee Nella Domenici.

It slopes up a mountain and then stops near the top. Border Patrol loves it (it's paved on the US side. (I went to the ribbon cutting.)

Iowa Lieutenant Gov. Adam Gregg resigned his position effective immediately Tuesday to take a job leading the Iowa Bankers Association, he said in a surprise announcement.

BEIJING, Sept 3 (Reuters) - U.S. climate envoy John Podesta will visit China for three days from Wednesday to discuss climate change issues, the environment ministry said, as the world's two biggest emitters of greenhouse gas look to bridge gaps on issues such as finance.

Pacts between the two have been key to building global consensus in the fight on climate change, but few analysts expect this week's talks to deliver much progress.

Podesta is set to meet Chinese counterpart Liu Zhenmin in the second round of formal climate talks between China and the United States since he replaced John Kerry as senior envoy at the start of the year.

In a summary of remarks last week between U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the State Department said, "They underscored the importance of concrete steps to tackle the climate crisis and welcomed further discussions," in a reference to Podesta's visit.

The United States is also trying to push China to set more ambitious climate targets as a deadline approaches by the beginning of next year for countries to submit new "nationally determined" contributions to the United Nations.

Washington wants China to contribute to a new climate finance programme called the New Collective Quantified Goal that aims to deliver billions of dollars to help developing countries boost climate ambitions.

But calls to broaden the fund's contributor base were an attempt by rich nations to "dilute" their obligations, the BASIC bloc of countries, which groups Brazil, China, India and South Africa, said last month.

"China has chafed at pressure from the United States, European Union and other advanced economies to require contributions from emerging economies," Kate Logan, a climate expert at the Asia Society Policy Institute, said in an email.

Beijing's emissions are expected to peak much earlier than its pledged date "before 2030", giving it space to commit to substantial cuts by 2035.

China needs to cut emissions by at least 30% by 2035 to align with the Paris Agreement goal to keep temperature rises within 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit),research shows.

During a podcast interview, Monica Crowley asked Donald Trump, "Does it look increasingly to you like this was a suspicious, maybe even inside job?"

The GOP nominee asserted, without providing evidence, that Democrats are covering the legal costs of the father of the gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Despite the fact that the FBI had little trouble unlocking Crooks' phone following the July 13 assassination attempt, Trump said it was "suspicious" that the FBI was unable to open the apps.

This added credence to the dubious speculations regarding the gunman's contacts before the Butler rally shooting.

Trump further suggested that there might be more going on as FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed early on that the organization wasn't sure if a bullet or shrapnel had struck the former president. Later on, the FBI verified that it was a bullet.

"There’s so many things going on here, that you do have to wonder," said the MAGA spearhead, before adding, "I wasn’t thinking this way three weeks ago, but the more you see it, the more you start to say there could be something else and that’s really dangerous for the country," as per HuffPost.

Donald Trump compared the attempt on his life to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy, which has long given rise to conspiracy theories. He promised to launch an investigation into JFK's 1963 assassination during his first week back in office if re-elected, saying, "It’s harder to get the facts as time goes by."

Crowley claimed the "imperial media" and "regime" have "buried" the story, which "lends credence to this idea that this is very suspicious and could have been an inside job."

Trump replied, "They don’t wanna talk about it. They didn’t want to talk about the election of 2020 either."

A bombshell congressional report claims would-be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks was incapacitated by a local cop before he was killed by a Secret Service sniper.

Two months after Crooks shot the former president's ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a preliminary report from Rep. Clay Higgins offered a differing narrative to the official one pushed by the FBI.

While it was initially claimed that Crooks was shot in the head within seconds by a Secret Service sniper, Higgins' report claimed it was actually a local SWAT operator who stopped the gunman's hail of bullets.

The congressman said the local cop's shot 'hit Crooks' rifle and fragged his face/ neck/ right shoulder area from the (gun) stock breaking up', which meant Crooks was unable to keep firing before he was killed.

It comes amid mounting scrutiny on the FBI and Secret Service's investigations into the shooting, weeks after Higgins also revealed Crooks' body was mysteriously cremated with approval from the FBI after just 10 days. The revelations from Higgins' bombshell report were raised last night by Fox News pundit Jesse Watters, who shared his shock over the response to the assassination attempt with Missouri Senator Josh Hawley.

Watters said the FBI and Secret Service have been offering only a frustrating 'drip drip, drip' of information from their investigations, and noted that 'the real investigative work is being done by Congress.'

He drew parallels between the agencies' official narrative of the shooting - that Crooks was quickly killed by a Secret Service sniper - and Higgins' claim that a local SWAT operator actually hit the gunman first.

'I didn't know that,' Watters said, pointing to Congressional testimony from acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe that made 'no mention' of the local cop's heroics.

'He gave his agency total credit for bringing down Crooks,' he said.

Newly released images of Crooks' AR-style rifle show the stock end of the firearm with a large hole where the bullet purportedly struck near the shooter's shoulder.

The incident involving Donald Trump's campaign staff at Arlington National Cemetery was the last straw for Jimmy McCain, the youngest son of the late Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

In an interview Tuesday on CNN, McCain said that after last week's events at the cemetery he registered as a Democrat and decided to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris this fall.

McCain, who recently returned from deployment at a military base in Jordan where three Army Reserve soldiers were killed in January, said he changed his party affiliation to honor his father and put "country first."

"I care about my family. I care about equal rights of everyone in this country. I care about all this," McCain said. "As much as I stayed as an independent, I decided that, you know, it was time to move on and do what I believe in."

McCain called Arlington National Cemetery “sacred” and said three generations of his family are buried there. He called Trump’s incident at Arlington a “violation.”

Trump visited the cemetery last week with relatives of victims who died in the Abbey Gate attack on Kabul airport during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago. According to the Army, a member of Trump’s team “abruptly pushed aside” a cemetery official so that campaign staff could take photos and videos in an area where they are normally prohibited. Trump’s team has disputed the Army’s account.

“Arlington Cemetery is to go and show respect for the men and women who have given their lives to this country,” McCain said. “When you make it political, you take away the respect of the people who are there.”

McCain also said that he has never forgiven Trump for calling his dad a "dummy" and that he was "not a war hero" because he had been held captive.

"He’s not a war hero," Trump said in 2015 comments. "He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured."

Trump, who never served in the military, then said: "He's a war hero because he was captured. OK, I believe — perhaps he's a war hero."

I ran the numbers for a typical pediatrics practice and can confirm a least 50% of their revenue comes from vaccines. What's not mentioned here is that their overhead is 50%, so without vaccines they can't even stay in business.

A single vaccine administration fee for the pediatrician is only $35, but they do so many of them that it really adds up:

An average pediatrics practice has 1500 patients per provider (some have twice as much or more).

Those 1500 patients get 60 shots over the course of birth to 18 years, which is 1,620,000 total shots administered in 18 years, or an average of 5,000 vaccines administered per year. That’s $175,000 in vaccine administration fees alone at $35 a pop.

This is essentially the median salary of a pediatrician. Of course most practices bring in about double to account for their overhead expenses, which run 50-60%. But without the $35 payments there would be basically nothing left over. Pediatrics is not economic for the most part without vaccines.

And this doesn't even count the bonus payments they get for vaccinating 85%+ of their practice.

The latest media narrative surrounding Vice-President Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ newly-anointed presidential nominee, is that she’s a “moderate.” She was never for open borders, defunding the police, or free healthcare for illegal aliens.

Of course, since the internet is forever, we know that’s just gaslighting. She supported all those far-left policies and more. That’s because she’s not a moderate—she’s a stone-cold Marxist.

I’m not suggesting Harris is some sort of deep-thinking, doctrinaire disciple of Das Kapital. I don’t believe she’s a deep thinker at all.She’s more like one of von Mises’s “useful idiots,” who helped the communists take over their country—to its ultimate ruin as well as their own.

In short, she is aclassic mid-wit,mindlessly spouting left-wing platitudes and Marxist slogans. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t believe them. She absolutely does. And that makes her a danger to freedom and our democratic republic.

Because Marxism, as we know from history, is utterly antithetical to both. For all the revolutionaries’ talk about “freedom,” what actually happens following a Marxist takeover is that most people essentially become serfs. Just ask the Russian peasants in 1918. Or today’s Venezuelans.

Such a system can be maintained only by a brutal dictatorship.

How do we know Harris is a Marxist?Well, for starters, her father, Donald J. Harris (yes, Donald J.) was a well-known Marxist economist. Of course, that in itself doesn’t necessarily prove anything. By all accounts, Harris lived mostly with her mother after her parents’ divorce.

Still, it seemsthe coconut didn’t fall far from the tree.

As Campus Reform and other outlets have reported, Harris has endorsed a plethora of “progressive” policies, including free college, “diversity, equity, and inclusion” (DEI), and abortion up to birth. She also famously said that pro-Hamas protestors are “showing exactly what the human emotion should be.”

But perhaps even more telling is her routine rhetoric, which has been consistently Marxist to its core.

For example, here she is explainingthe difference between “equality” and “equity”: “Equality suggests ‘everyone should get the same amount’….Equitable treatment means we all end up at the same place.

There are two problems with that statement.First, even though she’s supposedly defining “equality,” she clearly doesn’t understand it herself.

When Jefferson wrote that “all men are created equal,” he meant equal before God and before the law. The idea that “everyone should get the same amount”—especially the implication that we “get” this “amount” from the public coffers—would have been anathema to the Founders.

Second,her conception of “equitable treatment” is indistinguishable from communism—no doubt because our modern notion of “equity” is itself simply a rebranding of Marxism. The only way everyone “ends up in the same place” is through forced redistribution.

Another example of Harris’s casually Marxist rhetoric is her signature platitude, which she seemingly wastes no opportunity to inflict upon the world: “What can be, unburdened by what has been.” That sounds like meaningless fluff, verging—like so many of her pronouncements—on gobbledygook.

Unfortunately, as scholar James Lindsay points out,it’s worse than that: It’s a far-left dog-whistle, “an esoteric incantation of societal and human rebirth…that has manifested in such human paroxysms as the French Revolution [and] all communist revolutions.”

Every such revolution, he argues, “is a revolt against what has been in the hopes of achieving a utopia only the [enlightened] can ‘see.’…The Bolsheviks, Pol Pot, Mao, and the rest were all leading people to see ‘what can be, unburdened by what has been.’ The death and rebirth of…society is precisely the goal.”

In other words, what appears to be little more than a mindless trope is really a reformulation of Marx’s infamous dictum: “The ruthless criticism of all that exists.”

Whether or not Harris actually understands what she’s saying—and I suspect she does—the mantra-like repetition suggests that she is fully invested and, given the chance, will make “unburdening” a central feature of her administration.

That is, she will happily unburden us from what we have been—the freest, most prosperous nation in history—so that we might see what we can become: a repressive, impoverished, communist hellhole.

Hotel Workers In Many American Cities Now On Strike, Can't Earn Decent Living

Some 10,000 hotel workers began on Sunday a Labor Day weekend strike after contract negotiations with hotel operators Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott broke down, the Unite Here union announced.

Hotel workers in more cities were expected in the coming days to join the strikes that affected some 24 hotels in eight cities on Sunday, as workers push for higher wages and against "COVID-era staffing and service cuts," per a union statement.

Cities affected by the strikes that are expected to last two or three days include: Boston, Greenwich, Honolulu, Kauai, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Seattle.

"Strikes have also been authorized and could begin at any time in Baltimore, New Haven, Oakland, and Providence," per Unite Here.

Workers say their wages "aren't enough to cover the cost of living, and many have to work two jobs to make ends meet," according to Unite Here.

"I have to work a second job because my job at the hotel is not enough to support my kids as a single mom," said Mary Taboniar, a housekeeper at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu for six years, in a statement carried by the union.

"I'm living on the edge where I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay our rent and groceries or provide my family with health care. It's so stressful. One job should be enough."

Elena Duran, a server at Marriott's Palace Hotel in San Francisco for 33 years, said since the pandemic began, "they're expecting us to give five-star service with three-star staff."

Over 40,000 hotel workers with the UNITE HERE union have contracts up for renegotiation this year in more than 20 cities across the U.S. and Canada, and additional strike votes may be announced.

According to the State-run media, and the US government, the economy remains stable as ever. No problems they say.

Borough Council designates Penn State University town as transgender 'sanctuary city'

Transgender individuals who flee states seeking “gender-affirming care” can find refuge in the town of Penn State University.

The resolution was introduced by Democratic Socialists of America to “protect” trans adults and youth and provide them with a “welcoming haven."

The borough home to Penn State University (PSU) was designated as a “sanctuary city” for transgender individuals.The resolution, proposed by the local Democratic Socialists of America chapter, aims to “protect” and offer “gender-affirming healthcare” to trans adults and youth fleeing less accommodating states.

The State College Borough Council voted unanimously Aug 19 to adopt the statutes listed in Resolution No. 1394; “to protect and grant refuge to transgender and non-bianry youth and their parents fleeing states with anti-transgender laws”.

The Borough of State College has officially been declared a “safe haven” for transgender individuals. The area has also endorsed “gender-affirming healthcare” and introduced several new healthcare-related policies to support this commitment.

The resolution cites concerns over other states’ laws that do not necessarily prioritize transgender individuals including banning gender-neutral bathrooms and limiting minor access to sex change surgeries.

The council aimed to address concerns over LGBT acceptance in State College in response to the “increasing, unprecedented wave of legislation denying respect and dignity”. They have expressed that they see “no end in sight” for policies that do not advance progressive ideals related to the LGBT community.

“The Resolution passed by the Borough is a waste of resources, time, and energy. It does nothing to actually help those in need in our community and the surrounding areas,” Orlando Clark, a Senior at PSU, told Campus Reform.

“By focusing on far left positions and agendas this resolution creates a fake sense of security for those who claim to be ‘oppressed’. Clark argues that these initiatives actually deepen the divide within the State College community, contrary to the council’s intended goals.

“Inclusion really means constantly evaluating who’s left out, what more we can do,” councilwoman Nalini Krishnankutty commented on her vote in favor of the resolution. “I think this is a first step I am very proud of at this moment in time as anti-trans legislation is gaining momentum.”

Campus Reform has contacted the State College Borough Council, PSU, and DSA for comment. This article will be updated accordingly.

NGC 6995: The Bat Nebula

Can you see the bat? It haunts this cosmic close-up of the eastern Veil Nebula. The Veil Nebula itself is a large supernova remnant, the expanding debris cloud from the death explosion of a massive star. While the Veil is roughly circular in shape and covers nearly 3 degrees on the sky toward the constellation of the Swan (Cygnus), NGC 6995, known informally as the Bat Nebula, spans only 1/2 degree, about the apparent size of the Moon. That translates to 12 light-years at the Veil's estimated distance, a reassuring 1,400 light-years from planet Earth. In the composite of image data recorded through narrow band filters, emission from hydrogen atoms in the remnant is shown in red with strong emission from oxygen atoms shown in hues of blue. Of course, in the western part of the Veil lies another seasonal apparition: the Witch's Broom Nebula.

The daughter of Donald Trump nemesis Fani Willis poses glumly for her jail mugshot after being locked up for allegedly driving with a suspended license.

Kinaya Willis, 25 – whose mom is spearheading a criminal election interference case against former the former president – was arrested in Tyrone, Georgia on August 24.

An incident report obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com reveals Kinaya – who is pregnant – was pulled over because cops spotted her using a cellphone while driving her 2010 Nissan Altima.

She 'stated that the reason for her using her cell phone while operating the vehicle was due to her mother calling her related to her pregnancy,' the report states.

The Texas Southern University student told an officer from the Tyrone Police Department she was 'unaware' her license was revoked on May 13 for the same offense, driving while suspended.

Kinaya was then searched, handcuffed at the side of the highway, and taken to the Fayette County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of driving with a revoked or suspended license.

'Willis's mother later arrived on scene to take possession of her vehicle,' the report adds.

A booking photo obtained by DailyMail.com shows Kinaya looking drained and dejected as she arrived at the 554-bed lockup, 30 minutes south of Atlanta.

She was subsequently released and ordered to attend the Town of Tyrone Municipal Court for an October 24 arraignment, according to public records.

The punishment for driving on a suspended license in Georgia is a minimum of two days in jail, a fine of at least $500 and a six-month extension of the suspension.

If Kinaya is found guilty of a second offense the penalties escalate to at least 10 days in jail and a fine of between $1,000 and $2,500.

Reached for comment about Kinaya's arrest, Willis immediately hung up on a DailyMail.com reporter. Kinaya did not respond to a message asking for comment.

Her arrest will come as a fresh blow to Willis, Fulton County's celebrated Democrat District Attorney who shot to prominence after charging Trump with election interference only to find the case embroiled in controversy.

U.S. seeks to turn Kenya mission in Haiti into U.N. peacekeeping operation

More than two months after the first contingents of Kenyan police officers arrived in Haiti to head a largely U.S.-funded multinational security force, the Biden administration is exploring the possibility of transitioning to a traditional United Nations peacekeeping operation. The State Department, which in the face of funding and equipment shortfalls has been mulling over the possibility of transforming the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support, has notified U.S. lawmakers of its intentions, a source familiar with the matter told the Miami Herald. An official with the White House National Security Council confirmed to McClatchy and the Herald that plans are under consideration to alter the nature of the force. The direction was also confirmed by a third source. “In coordination with partners, the United States is exploring options to bolster the Multinational Security Support mission and ensure the support that the MSS is providing Haitians is sustained long-term and ultimately paves the way to security conditions permitting free and fair elections,” the national security official said. The switch is both an acknowledgment of the administration’s struggle to attract voluntary contributions for the mission, which the administration says roughly costs $200 million every six months to operate, and of its failure to quickly restore order in Haiti despite public pronouncements that there has been progress since the Kenyans’ arrival. A traditional U.N. peacekeeping operation would end the mission’s problems with funding, because it would be paid for through member nations’ traditionally assessed contributions. It would also provide more equipment like helicopters, which the current Kenya-led mission lacks, and possibly a hospital capable of performing surgeries. Also the U.N. would be able to mobilize military forces, rather than just cops, from other nations in a way that the U.S. has been unable to do. A peacekeeping mission would need the approval of the U.N. Security Council, and there are questions about whether its members, especially China and Russia, would support it. Renata Segura, program director for Latin America and the Caribbean for the Crisis Group, said she thinks the move is a demonstration of how difficult it is to mobilize support for this kind of mission outside of the traditional U.N. channels. “The initial lack of support to the MSS from outspoken sectors of Haitian civil society certainly made many potential donors, mission leaders very reluctant to engage. But beyond that, there is a clear Haiti fatigue— with many donors wondering if this most recent experiment would solve what previous interventions couldn’t,” she said. Robert Rae, Canada’s ambassador to the U.N., who visited Haiti last week, said there needs to be a discussion about how to beef up the security mission. “The obvious answer to that is through a peacekeeping mission. But we need to understand the political challenges,” he said in an interview after his visit. “Only the Security Council can approve this peacekeeping mission. And a peacekeeping mission has to be funded, but it also has to be approved by the [Permanent 5 members] and that includes China and Russia. “The reason we have the [Kenya] mission we have is because China and Russia wouldn’t agree to anything else,” said Rae, who was recently elected president of the U.N.’s Economic and Social Council. “We need to understand that’s what needs to come together in order for it to happen.” Rae said the challenge is to make sure that both the Haiti National Police, the Kenya mission and the humanitarian and development agencies working in the troubled Caribbean country have the financial support to confront the worst humanitarian crisis since a devastating 2010 earthquake left more than 300,000 Haitians dead. “That doesn’t depend on a change of heart from Russia or China, that depends on the willingness of the rest of the world to step up and address the problems,” Rae said, referring to the ongoing struggle to raise money for the security mission and a $674 million U.N. humanitarian appeal to help the nearly 600,000 Haitians who have been forced out of their homes by armed gangs over the last three years and the more than five million currently facing hunger.
