Illegal Immigrant in Virginia Charged with Producing Child Pornography

An illegal alien in Virginia has been charged with multiple counts related to producing child pornography.

Gherson Gonzales Hernandez, 24, of Honduras, has been arrested and charged with 10 counts related to child pornography material and two counts of unlawful creation of a videographic or still image of a minor, according to a report from Fox 5 DC.

The unlawful filming charge is related to an incident in August 2019.

“Arrest warrants obtained by FOX 5 on Friday state the warrants for the child pornography charges were issued Feb. 8, and they were connected to a Nov. 2023 offense,” the report explains. “The warrants also list a Springfield home address for the suspect, though neighbors FOX 5 spoke with Friday did not recognize him.”

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations spokesperson James Covington provided the station with the following statement:

“Gherson Djorkaeff Gonzales-Hernandez is a 24-year-old unlawfully present Honduran national. He was arrested by Fairfax County Police Feb. 9, and charged with multiple crimes related to child sexual abuse material. ICE ERO Washington, D.C. lodged an immigration detainer against Gonzales-Hernandez with the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center following his arrest Feb. 9. As part of our mission to identify and arrest removable noncitizens, ERO lodges immigration detainers against noncitizens who have been arrested for criminal activity and taken into custody by state or local law enforcement.

Detainers request that state or local law enforcement agencies maintain custody of the noncitizen for a period not to exceed 48 hours beyond the time the individual would otherwise be released, allowing ERO to assume custody for removal purposes in accordance with federal law.

Detainers are a critical public safety tool because they focus enforcement resources on removable noncitizens who have been arrested for criminal activity. They increase the safety of all parties involved – ERO personnel, law enforcement officials, the removable noncitizens, and the public – by allowing an arrest to be made in a secure and controlled custodial setting as opposed to at-large within the community. Since detainers result in the direct transfer of a noncitizen from state or local custody to ERO custody, they also minimize the potential that an individual will reoffend.

France Says Russian Intelligence Behind Antisemitic Graffiti Campaign

In November, soon after the Hamas terror attack of Oct.7 in southern Israel, mysterious graffiti appeared in the capital of France and in surrounding Paris suburbs.

More than 60Jewish stars had been spray-painted, which began being observed in late October. They were all identical, and seemed connected to the ongoing war in Gaza, given some of them were accompanies by written slogans including, "From the [Mediterranean] Sea to the [Jordan] River, Palestine will be free."

It was widely interpreted as a threat to Jewish people. Subsequently, a Moldovan couple was arrested and they were alleged to have ties to a "pro-Russian" Moldovan intermediary.

But contradictions abounded, seen in the fact that many news articles of the time include statements like the following buried deep within them: "Investigators have said they aren't convinced the graffiti can be classed as antisemitic, but they are concerned about possible Russian meddling at such a sensitive time."

Additionally, the other problem with being quick to seize on this narrative is that France has a huge population of Muslims - some of which have made no secret of their disdain for Jews in recent protests. The immense civilian death toll in Gaza has also outraged young demonstrators all over Europe.

But on Friday the AFP is reporting that France's international security service DGSI believes this was all the work of Russia's FSB, which is a successor agency to the Soviet KGB: "France believes that Russia's security service FSB was behind a campaign in which Star of David graffiti were daubed on buildings in and around Paris last autumn, a French source said Friday."

According to the fresh report:

In a recent note seen by AFP on Friday, the DGSI urged French police forces to report even "weak signs" of potential Russian "subversion", such as vandalism, graffiti, posters, stickers and flyers, which are usually aimed at "amplifying divisions" in French society.

Also, the same report says "Le Monde said the alleged FSB operation was part of a wider disinformation campaign that also targeted Poland, Spain, Germany, Romania and Austria."

Haley returned to South Carolina in 2019 after serving at the United Nations and living in New York City, putting down new roots in the coastal resort community of Kiawah Island. It was hours away from Lexington, the Republican-rich suburb of Columbia where she launched her political career as a state representative.

Far from the heart of conservative South Carolina, Kiawah Island is a golf and beach town, a destination for transplants and retirees and part of a county that President Joe Biden won in 2020. The Biden family has vacationed there at a donor friend’s mansion.

The campaign official said Haley recently spoke to the Dorchester GOP — she took part in the group’s “Presidential Sweet Tea Stop” at the Summerville Country Club earlier this month — and was well-received when she held a VIP photo line there with several party activists. Her son also spoke to the Dorchester GOP a few weeks ago. The official said the campaign has been in touch regularly with the South Carolina GOP.

Olivia Perez-Cubas, a spokesperson for Haley’s campaign, noted Haley’s record as governor — how she cut taxes, cracked down on immigrants in South Carolina illegally, implemented voter ID requirements and “moved 35,000 people from welfare to work.”

“Anyone who knows Nikki knows she’s always been the conservative outsider,” Perez-Cubas said. “Nikki’s working hard to earn every vote and fighting for the 70 percent of Americans who don’t want another Biden-Trump matchup.”

Olson, who was among those standing behind the new governor in spring 2011 as she signed into law a bill she championed that required state legislators’ votes to be on record, said he supported her longer than some tea party activists he knew.

“She was a breath of fresh air, someone not willing to back down, willing to stand up for the grassroots movement,” Olson said. “Not only to stand up, but take the hits, and she did.”

Conservative Party Suspends Lee Anderson MP After Claiming Sadiq Khan Controlled by ‘Islamists’

The Conservative Party has announced that it has suspended former deputy chairman Lee Anderson from the party after he refused to apologise for asserting that London Mayor Sadiq Khan is controlled by “Islamists”.

The Conservative MP for Ashfield and former deputy chairman Lee Anderson had the whip suspended from him on Saturday evening as the Tory Party bowed to pressure from leftist Labour Party London Mayor Sadiq Khan and liberal members of the political and media classes who expressed outrage on his behalf.

Anderson sparked outrage after telling GB News on Friday: “I don’t actually believe that these Islamists have got control of our country, but what I do believe is that they’ve got control of Khan, they’ve got control of London. He’s actually given our capital city away to his mates.”

His comments were in reference to an article written by former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who was ousted from her role over her critiques of anti-Israel protests in London and her disagreements with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak immigration. Braverman argued that “the Islamists, the extremists and the anti-Semites are in charge” of the UK.

Khan responded to the remarks from Anderson by branding them as “Islamophobic, anti-Muslim and racist” and claiming that they “pour fuel on the fire of anti-Muslim hatred”.

Anderson was also condemned by fellow Conservative MP, Nus Ghani, a practising Muslim, who said: “I don’t for one moment believe that Sadiq Khan is controlled by Islamists… To say so is both foolish and dangerous. Frankly, this is all so tiring.”

Despite the media firestorm surrounding the comments, the MP for Ashfield refused to back down from his comments. It was the refusal to apologise that prompted his suspension from the Conservative Party within the House of Commons.

A spokesman for Tory Chief Whip Simon Hart said per the BBC: “Following his refusal to apologise for comments made yesterday, the Chief Whip has suspended the Conservative whip from Lee Anderson MP.”

Anderson, a former Labour Party councillor who defected to the Tories in 2018 over Labour’s embracing of the far-left, served as the deputy chairman of the Conservative Party until January, when he resigned over, in his view, the government failing to go far enough to stop illegal migration during the Rwanda vote.

Following his suspension, Anderson said per GB News: “Following a call with the Chief Whip, I understand the difficult position that I have put both he and the Prime Minister in with regard to my comments.

“I fully accept that they had no option but to suspend the whip in these circumstances.

“However, I will continue to support the Government’s efforts to call out extremism in all its forms – be that anti-semitism or islamophobia.”

The buzzy new spot is called Frog Club and it includes all kinds of weird quirks - including a tall, slender doorman who presses stickers over the cameras of people arriving to dine.

Frog Club is the first restaurant Johnson, 33, has opened since the extremely messy and public implosion of her marriage to fellow chef and Horses co-founder Will Aghajanian.

The chef power couple co-owned Catbird Seat in Nashville, Mimi in NYC and Horses in Los Angeles - but they became famous for more than their cuisine after Johnson accused Aghajanian of assaulting her, visiting prostitutes and torturing pet kittens to death.

State Dept downplays reports of Israeli soldiers sexually abusing, slaughtering Palestinian women

While falsely claiming to have received “independent confirmation” of since-debunked assertions of mass rape by Hamas, the State Department’s spokesman said he “cannot independently verify” allegations by UN human rights experts that Israeli soldiers have sexually abused and systematically slaughtered Palestinian women and girls in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The US State Department has downplayed the findings of UN human rights experts who received “credible allegations” that Israeli soldiers have raped, tortured, and executed Palestinian women and girls amid their siege of Gaza.

US media has similarly overlooked the UN human rights report, focusing instead on yet another dubious report by the Israeli Association of Rape Crisis Centers alleging the deployment of “systematic sexual violence” by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

As The Grayzone’s Max Blumenthal reported, the Israeli report was “short on new research, absent of hard evidence, and reliant instead on clips from factually-challenged articles by the same Western outlets promoting its publication.” Its publication was funded by US-based Israel lobby heavyweights involved in a public relations scheme to justify the ongoing siege of Gaza.

The UN’s Office of the High Commission on Human Rights reported receiving testimonies from Palestinian women and girls in Israeli custody of rape and being “subjected to multiple forms of sexual assault, such as being stripped naked and searched by male Israeli army officers.”

The Grayzone has also gathered video testimony from 39-year-old Abier Mohammed Gheben, a Palestinian abducted in Gaza by Israelis during their ongoing siege. She described being subjected to torture, deprivation and humiliation during over 50 days in captivity. “We had to sleep for a night… out in the open” while “blinded and handcuffed,” she told The Grayzone, adding that her interrogator “would call women dogs.”

Asked by journalists about the UN report alleging Israeli sexual abuse of Palestinian female detainees, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told journalists that he “cannot independently verify the reports.”

Though he insisted the US “strongly [urges] Israel to thoroughly and transparently investigate credible allegations,” Miller stopped well short of the dramatic denunciations he reserves for Hamas. The State Department flack previously claimed without evidence that Hamas refuses to release female Israeli captives because “they don’t want these women to be able to talk about what happened to them during their time in custody.”

Miller’s latest pronouncement triggered intensive questioning by reporters in the press gallery, who seemed to pick up on the apparent double standard.

“You said you had no independent confirmation of what the UN experts found,” AP journalist Matt Lee noted, “but did you ever have confirmation of what Hamas allegedly did to Israeli women, girls?”

Miller replied that the US had, in fact, received “independent confirmation” of supposed sexual violence against Israelis by Hamas combatants, citing the findings of unspecified “Israeli medical experts.”

Moreover, “it is a well-accepted fact” that Palestinian militants sexually abused Israelis, the spokesman insisted, “because the investigations produced credible evidence that not just the US accepted, but countries around the world accepted.”

“We have no reason at all to doubt those reports,” Miller concluded.

Later in the the exchange, Miller appeared to dismiss the credentials of the UN experts, telling journalists that the US would not treat the allegations of rape by the Israeli military as confirmed until they’re examined by “a credible medical expert.”

“With respect to these new allegations, we want to see an investigation. And we will of course look at the investigation and make our judgments when that investigation has concluded,” Miller stated.

The UN experts’ findings, which are reportedly “based on accounts provided by Palestinian female detainees, as well as information obtained via human rights organizations,” have been almost universally ignored by the Western press. As of publication, less than half a dozen mainstream outlets had reported on the shocking allegations.

Given the US State Department’s role in fast-tracking weapons to Israel, it may have good reason to downplay credible allegations of the mass killing and abuse of Palestinian women in Gaza. While it may not have been accused directly, Foggy Bottom has been a willing accomplice to any and all of Israel’s crimes.

An international group promoting vaccines with ties to the Gates Foundation in going after memes. Whatever could make more sense?

But things here aren’t as haphazard as they might seem. Bill Gates is known, and rich, for two things: as the founder of one of the most oppressive (in terms of design, security, and historically predatory toward free-as-in-freedom competing technology) companies ever – Microsoft.

And the other is Gates – now as a billionaire – reinventing himself through his “uncanny valley” philanthropic efforts, centered and emanating from his Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and focusing by and large on all sorts of vaccines, and – agriculture.

One of those involved, the GAVI Vaccine Alliance (that gets money from Gates) now wants to reframe memes – internet’s succinct expression of humor and satire – as “health disinformation super-spreaders.”

And we’ve heard this one before – this genre, that, in the digital age, might as well be considered as any other artistic format in previous times, is said to be capable of evading “fact checkers and content moderators” (i.e., censors).

In previous eras and authoritarian states, that would get the books with imagery and words characteristic of memes banned or burned.

So what could be the solution in the current era? And what does the big picture amount to?

Well, it’s just Bill Gates going after a free and open internet again, only by other means – cynics might say.

But here’s what a blog post on GAVI’s site says: “Our research shows that memes form part of a highly sophisticated strategy to spread and monetize health disinformation.”

(Not throwing the “monetize slur” in there – in the context of “the Gates!” /s)

When the “research” is done – (including assertions such as that memes falsely “depicted unvaccinated people as unfairly stigmatized” – well tell that to tennis superstar Novak Djokovic who almost got his career ruined by actual unfair stigmatization) – come the conclusions:

“Influencers promoting vaccine hesitancy use memes to build their online following, sow distrust of health authorities and profit from the promotion of unapproved medicines. This enables them to evade responsibility for any negative consequences of their messaging.”

There’s a “call to action” too, basically – to formally criminalize memes.

Says GAVI: “Memes may not look threatening – but that’s why they are such effective super spreaders of health disinformation.”

So then, what is GAVI, in its own words?

“As a founding partner of GAVI, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has brought international attention to the cause of immunization and has made several commitments to GAVI, totaling US$ 4.1 billion to date.”

The United Nations announced on Friday that the Israeli army has killed more than 400 people who sought refuge in its facilities in the besieged Gaza Strip since 7 October.

This came in a statement by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) posted on its X account: “One million people are sheltering in or around @UNRWA facilities across the📍#GazaStrip – from newborn babies to the elderly, this has become ‘home’.”

“Devastatingly, now over 400 people have been killed while seeking shelter in these @UN facilities. Nowhere, & no-one, is safe,” it added.

In a previous post, UNRWA stated: “153 different @UNRWA installations have been attacked during the war in #Gaza.”

Israel has repeatedly equated UNRWA staff with Hamas members in efforts to discredit the organisation, providing no proof of the claims, while lobbying hard to have UNRWA closed as it is the only UN agency with a specific mandate to look after the basic needs of Palestinian refugees.

If the agency no longer exists, argues Israel, then the refugee issue must no longer exist, and the legitimate right for Palestinian refugees to return to their land will be unnecessary.

Israel has denied that right of return since the late 1940s, even though its own membership in the UN was made conditional upon Palestinian refugees being allowed to return to their homes and land.

But a Canadian law means prison sentences can only be served concurrently - at the same time - rather than consecutively - one after the other. That means Pickton is now eligible to apply for day parole and can apply for full parole from 2027.

Identifying all the remains became complicated as detectives came to fear Pickton had cannibalized some of his victims.

Argentine President Javier Milei said on Thursday evening that he will present a bill to Congress to punish with jail time any Central Bank official that issues money to the National Treasury to finance fiscal deficits.

The legislation would help to reduce public spending to such an extent that the national government will be able to pay for its operations with its resources, without the need to resort to the issuance of money by the Central Bank of Argentina.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said that President Joe Biden is “clearly in partnership” with cartels during a panel discussion at CPAC on Friday.

Paxton was on a panel titled “The America First Bar Association,” featuring Rep. Dan Bishop and America First Legal President Stephen Miller.

“It’s so obvious, we saw what worked under Trump. It’s called enforcing the very things he talked about, and literally day one, Joe Biden comes out and says I’m not deporting anybody,” Paxton said.

Paxton blasted the Biden administration for dismantling Trump-era rules to secure the border, including Remain in Mexico and the Title 42 policies that the former president had enacted.

“So all the policies that worked that brought all the numbers down, when you reverse those policies, all the numbers went up,” Paxton said. “I don’t know why the media can’t figure this out. It’s really obvious.”

I'm not a fan of Andrew Cuomo but I'd like to point out Letitia James pulled a E. Jean Carrol on him like she had done to Trump she forced Cuomo to resign.

Additionally, James called Cuomo a "serial sexual harasser" and "sick and pathetic," violating one of the American Bar Association's responsibilities of a prosecutor, which states, "In the context of a criminal prosecution, a prosecutor's extrajudicial statement can create the additional problem of increasing public condemnation of the accused," Cuomo says in his complaint.

In a statement to NPR on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the attorney general's office said: "Attorney General James, Joon Kim, and Anne Clark hold themselves to the highest ethical standards. Mr. Cuomo resigned after an independent investigation revealed that he preyed on multiple women who worked for him. New Yorkers are ready to move forward and close this sordid chapter in our state's history."

The former director of Panama’s border patrol told The Epoch Times that the United Nations’ migration agenda is behind the chaos at the U.S. southern border and that U.N. partners are making things worse instead of better.

Oriel Ortega, now a security and defense consultant to Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo, said during a Feb. 22 interview that he saw a jump in migration in 2016, at the same time that more nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) moved into Panama.

That increase corresponded with the U.N.’s Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration meeting in 2016. Two years later, 152 nations—including Panama—voted in favor of the compact to manage global migration. The United States voted against it.

But under the U.N., the migration process has been anything but orderly, Mr. Ortega said.

“It’s completely opposite right now,” he said through an interpreter.

Documents show that in 2023, a record 500,000 migrants traveled through the dense jungle known as the Darien Gap from Colombia into Panama. Migrants from around the world are flying into South and Central America to start their journey because countries such as Suriname and Ecuador don’t require a visa to enter. Their final destination is the United States.

The book “Weapons of Mass Migration: Forced Displacement, Coercion, and Foreign Policy,” written by Kelly Greenhill, suggests that weaker countries are using migration to destabilize their more powerful adversaries.

Joseph Humire is the executive director of the Center for a Secure Free Society and an expert on unconventional warfare. He told The Epoch Times that he believes that’s what Americans are seeing at the U.S. southern border now.

“This isn’t a conspiracy theory,” he said; the “invasion” at the U.S. southern border is “strategic engineered migration.”

Moscow bears responsibility for the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants in Gaza, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claimed in an interview with il Giornale newspaper published on Saturday. It was Russia’s military campaign against Ukraine that supposedly encouraged Hamas to launch a massive attack against Israel on October 7, 2023, she stated.

The Italian leader maintained that a military operation launched by a permanent UN Security Council member against its neighbor violated international law and shook the entire global security system. She said such a move would have inevitably “have [a] cascading effect on the other regions… of the world, from the Middle East to [the] Balkans, to Africa.”

“If Russia had not invaded Ukraine, in all likelihood, Hamas would not have launched such an attack against Israel,” she claimed.

Russia launched its special military operation against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, citing a need to protect the population of Donbass, which had been suffering from constant persecution by Kiev since 2014, when Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics declared their independence from Ukraine.

Moscow also cited other reasons for the decision, including Ukraine’s NATO aspirations, which it said posed a serious threat to Russian national security.

Hamas launched its attacks on Israeli settlements located not far from Gaza almost a year and a half after the start of the conflict between Moscow and Kiev. The assault by the militants claimed the lives of some 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians. More than 200 people were also taken hostage at that time. West Jerusalem responded with a massive bombing campaign against Gaza that was followed by a ground operation that is still ongoing. Since the start of the Israeli campaign, the death toll in the Palestinian enclave has surpassed 29,000, according to reports.

Israel’s actions drew widespread condemnation in the Muslim world and beyond. South Africa filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice, asking it to rule on whether Israel has committed “systematic” acts of genocide in Gaza. The judges have yet to make a decision, but they issued an interim order urging Israel to take steps to prevent genocide. The Israeli government has dismissed that as “absurd.”

Nathan Wade appeared to make at least 35 visits to the Hapeville neighborhood where Fani Willis was living before the district attorney hired him to lead Fulton County’s election interference prosecution, according to cellphone data included in a court submission filed Friday.

The filing, by attorneys for Donald Trump, raises fresh questions about the relationship between the two prosecutors, which the former president and other defendants argue has tainted the case against them and should result in Willis and her office being disqualified.

Late Friday, Willis disputed the defendants’ evidence in a court motion seeking to have it excluded. She said the submission was filed in violation of court rules and “do not prove anything relevant.”

“The records do nothing more than demonstrate that Special Prosecutor Wade’s telephone was located somewhere within a densely populated multiple-mile radius where various residences, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and other businesses are located,” Willis’ motion said.

Trump’s lawyers relied on data collected from Wade’s cellphone and the “pings” it made off cellphone towers close to Willis’ condo.However, some experts interviewed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution questioned the accuracy of the findings.Others said the technology was generally accepted in court proceedings around the nation and considered trustworthy.

If the findings are correct, they could contradict Wade’s testimony last week that he had visited Willis at her condo in Hapeville no more than 10 times before he was hired in November 2021. The data also indicates that in the months before Willis and Wade said their relationship became romantic early in 2022, Wade’s phone twice arrived in the area late at night and left early the next morning.

Both Wade and Willis testified last week that they did not spend the night together at the Hapeville condo.

The timeline of the Willis-Wade relationship is important for two reasons. If they were a couple before she hired him it raises the prospect that she may have violated at least the spirit of anti-nepotism rules, though Fulton’s policy specifically focuses on family members. More importantly, both Willis and Wade have testified under oath that the relationship began in 2022. If defense attorneys can prove that they lied under oath it could constitute perjury.

The Trump court filing included an affidavit from Charles Mittelstadt, a longtime investigator for defense attorneys. He said he obtained the cellphone data from AT&T through a subpoena.

Mittelstadt said he used the online tool, CellHawk, to determine where Wade’s phone was in 2021. “CellHawk is considered by law enforcement to be the gold standard in cellphone records analytics,”Mittelstadt said, noting it is used by law enforcement throughout the U.S. and Georgia.

The affidavit says Willis and Wade called each other more than 2,000 times during the first 11 months of 2021 and exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages.

Mittelstadt said he focused on instances when Wade’s cellphone connected to a tower near Willis’ Hapeville address for extended periods to make sure he was stationary and not in transit. He said he did the same thing to determine when Wade was at his home in East Cobb County.

On one occasion, on Sept. 11, 2021, Wade’s phone left a third location in the Doraville area and arrived in the vicinity of Willis’ Hapeville address at 10:45 p.m. The phone remained there until 3:28 a.m. and could later be seen arriving in East Cobb at 4:05 a.m., shortly before Wade sent a text to Willis, the affidavit said.

Similarly, Wade’s phone left the East Cobb area the night of Nov. 29, 2021, after receiving an 11:32 p.m. call from Willis, the affidavit said. It arrived in Hapeville at 12:43 a.m. and remained there until 4:55 a.m., the affidavit added.

Mittelstadt “is available to testify at the court’s convenience,” said the filing, by Trump attorneys Steve Sadow and Jennifer Little.

In his affidavit, Mittelstadt said he used a “conservative geofence” – a virtual perimeter around a location – by isolating two cell towers that were closest to the Hapeville home. Onetower is 2,000 feet away and the other is 3,000 feet away. This encompassed area could include several nearby restaurants in the vicinity of the home, which is also less than a mile away from a number of hotels that serve the airport.

The Hapeville condo is less than two miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport but Mittelsatdt saidhis analysis had eliminated the possibility that the phone was in the airport.

Experts offered different assessments of the investigator’s analysis.

John Acevedo, an Emory University professor who specializes in criminal law,said CellHawk is “referred to as the gold standard of software.”

“It is one of the most used softwares in the country and is very reputable and accepted,” Acevedo told the AJC. “The analysis (of Wade’s cellphone data) appears to be sound. I think we’re going to have to hear from him as to what he was doing in the area on those dates.”

But there is reason to doubt the conclusions by the defendants’ investigator, said Georgia Tech electrical and computer engineering professor Paul Steffes, who has testified about cellphone location data in court cases.

Steffes said he would need to review the underlying data used in the investigators’ analysis before drawing a definitive conclusion, but he reviewed the summary of the investigation included in the affidavit filed Friday.

It does not show definitively that Wade visited Willis at her Hapeville condo — at best, the evidence appears to show Wade was in a 9-square-mile area that includes Willis’ condo, Steffes said.

The data also does not prove that Wade stayed in one place – he could have been driving around the area, he added. “This sounds to me like these folks are not experienced and they don’t understand the limits of either the data or the tool they’re using.

Willis echoed Steffes’ critique in her response late Friday.

“The records do not prove, in any way, the content of the communications between Special Prosecutor Wade and District Attorney Willis; they do not prove that Special Prosecutor Wade was ever at any particular location or address; they do not prove that Special Prosecutor Wade and District Attorney Willis were ever in the same place during any of the times listed [in the exhibit],” Willis’ motion said.

In fact, the motion said on multiple dates and times cited in the defense analysis, Willis was not at home. She provided copies of calendar entries to support that contention - including entries she said show she was at the office or at murder crime scenes. (Same system FBI used to track J6)

Willis’ motion argued the defense exhibit should not be accepted as evidence because, among other things, the defendants violated the court’s rules on the disclosure of expert testimony. She argued the evidence is “clearly inadmissible and has little evidentiary value” and “is simply another attempt to garner media attention.”

It will now be up to Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee to decide whether to admit Mittelstadt’s affidavit and the phone records into evidence.

Former DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said the cellphone data raises questions.

“People could look at this and be suspicious,” James said. “But in the court of law, you need proof. The real question is whether there was proof there was a romantic relationship at that time and I don’t think this proves there was. It just proves a relationship, which they’ve already acknowledged.”

Questioned at the Feb. 15 hearing by Sadow, Willis said Wade visited her at the Hapeville condo before she hired him in November 2021. On one occasion, Willis recalled a time when he picked up food from the Lickety Split Southern Kitchen & Bar and brought it to the condo.

As to how many times Wade paid her a visit in 2021, Willis testified, “I don’t think often, but I don’t – I don’t want to speculate.”

When pressed for a number by Sadow, Willis said, “Let’s say more than 10, but I’m not sure that that’s even accurate. He certainly has come and picked me up, gone and grabbed some food to eat. I don’t remember him being in that condo a lot.”

No one, except maybe one of her daughters on one occasion, ever spent the night with her at the Hapeville condo, Willis testified.

Earlier in that hearing, Sadow asked Wade how frequently he visited Willis’ condo before November 2021. Wade testified that it was not more than 10 times.

Sadow suggested phone records could demonstrate Wade was there more than he had let on.

“So, if phone records were to reflect that you were making phone calls from the same location as the condo before Nov. 1 of 2021, and it was on multiple occasions, the phone records would be wrong?” Sadow asked Wade.

“If phone records reflected that? Yes, sir,” Wade responded.

“They’d be wrong?” Sadow asked.

“They’d be wrong,” Wade responded.

Wade said he could have been in the Hapeville area for any number of reasons. He said he could have been visiting the Porsche Experience Center, the airport, the Delta Air Lines headquarters or local restaurants.

At last week’s hearing, Willis and Wade’s testimony was contradicted by Robin Yeartie, a former colleague and friend of the DA’s who allowed Willis to sublet the Hapeville condo.

Yeartie testified that she had “no doubt” that Willis and Wade began their romantic relationship shortly after they met in 2019. She also testified that she had seen them “hugging, kissing” and being affectionate.

Both Willis and Yeartie testified that they had a falling out in 2022, after Yeartie left the DA’s office due to poor performance, and the two have not spoken since then. Prosecutors sought to frame Yeartie as a disgruntled former employee who might have an ax to grind with Willis.

Willis owns a house in South Fulton but moved out in early 2021 due to security concerns. Her father, who lived with her for a time, testified last week that people showed up outside the house shouting curse words and racial epithets at Willis. (Yeah right)

It got so bad police regularly showed up at the home with bomb-sniffing dogs, John Clifford Floyd III, Willis’ father, said. Willis moved out of her home and into the condo rented by Yeartie.

A Jerusalem rabbi accused of enslaving 30 women in a cult-like home dubbed the “house of horrors” has pleaded guilty to lesser charges in return for a lax sentence of community service and cash compensation to his victims, according to reports.

Space Needle back open after early morning fire

Friday morning there was a fire at one of the most iconic sites in the Pacific Northwest, the Space Needle.

Firefighters had to climb the stairs to the very top of the building to get to the fire. Thankfully crews were able to stop the blaze from causing any serious damage.

“It would be very sad if something happened,” said a tourist.

Seattle Fire says they received reports about the fire just before 4:30 a.m. Several fire engines responded, people staying in hotels nearby saw them and heard the ruckus.

“I actually heard them from the hotel room. I’m nearly a mile out, but it was quite obvious that there was something going on downtown there was quite a lot of noise,” said Marinus Geffen who is visiting from Amsterdam.

Firefighters say flames were coming from the elevator control room at the top, and said the building is currently undergoing construction.

The incident didn’t impact hours of operation.

A spokesperson for the Space Needle says there were no injuries or damage, a relief for both locals and tourists.

He was released into the United States by Customs and Border Patrol because the worsening migrant crisis means they have insufficient facilities to hold all border crossers that they intercept. Cops don’t believe Ibarra knew his victim.

Laken Riley, 22, was found dead Thursday afternoon after her roommate reported her missing, saying she had not returned from her jog.

Ibarra has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.

We are beyond the point when the unsecure border is the issue. With tens-of-millions of unknown migrants seeded throughout the nation, we are now in the consequence phase. So many people cannot fathom what those consequences will mean.

Entire sectors like housing, education, healthcare, social services, transportation, infrastructure, law enforcement, public order… LOCALLY FOLKS, like in your back yard, depending on your proximity to the predators….. are going to be stressed to the point of failure.Our concept of “safety and security” needs to be re-evaluated.

The consequences, the all hell breaking loose part, is not a matter of if, but when. We are in theslow, consistent beginning phase right now, but it will escalate quickly. History has shown us that political correctness manifest, a man-made purposeful manipulation intended to override natural instinct, drove masses of mutually aligned people to get into cattle cars. The Republican Primary is well underway in South Carolina and already there are reports of issues with voting tabulators in at least one precinct in Richland County. Real America’s Voice Michelle Backus was on the ground in Satchel Ford Elementary in Columbia, SC. She spoke Tony Burkes, a voter in that particular precinct. He said after he filled out his ballot and ran it through the scanner, he received an error message. Now tell me if this sounds familiar: A poll worker then told the voter that “they didn’t have internet” and that he would have to “fold it and slide it into another slot.

Small plane makes emergency landing on NE Cape Coral residential street

4:48 PM EST Feb 24, 2024

A single-engine propeller plane crashed near the intersection of Vogiantzis Parkway and Andalusia Boulevard in Cape Coral on Saturday morning.

The plane went down at 10:01 a.m. and the Cape Coral Fire Department (CCFD), Cape Coral Police Department, and Lee County Port Authority Fire/Rescue arrived shortly after.

According to CCFD, the single-engine Bellanca 17-30A left Pine Shadows Airfield in North Fort Myers before needing to make an emergency landing.

Authorities are still investigating why the pilot was forced to make the emergency landing.

One person was on board and reportedly suffered only minor injuries.

Neighbor Jamie Renk lives nearby and rushed out to help the pilot. He said, "I come out, he's like, 'I ended up sliding down there.' Like, is that a plane?"

Renk said he was sitting in his garage watching TV when he heard a crashing sound just yards from his house.

"It was just crazy!" Renk said. "Could’ve been a bigger plane. Could’ve been whatever. Just to hear a noise like that and look out, I did not expect to see a plane."

Renk said he didn't even think twice when he ran to help.

"He seemed to be alright. No cuts, no bruises; I said, ‘Are you the pilot?’ he said, ‘Yeah.’ ‘You okay?’ he said, ‘Yeah.’ I looked back a second later, and he was on his phone already calling 911 or aviation or something," Renk explained.

The single-engine plane suffered considerable damage to its bottom and propeller.

CCFD said the roadways from NE 8th Place to NE 38th Terrace will be closed until further notice.

The Federal Aviation Association (FAA) is en route from Tampa to investigate.

Large language models (LLMs) acting as diplomatic agents in simulated scenarios showed "hard-to-predict escalations which often ended in nuclear attacks.

When used in simulated wargames and diplomatic scenarios, artificial intelligence (AI) tended to choose an aggressive approach, including using nuclear weapons, a new study shows.

The scientists, who aimed to who conducted the tests urged caution when using large language models (LLMs) in sensitive areas like decision-making and defence.

The study by Cornell University in the US used five LLMs as autonomous agents in simulated wargames and diplomatic scenarios: three different versions of OpenAI’s GPT, Claude developed by Anthropic, and Llama 2 developed by Meta.

Each agent was powered by the same LLM within a simulation and was tasked with making foreign policy decisions without human oversight, according to the study which hasn’t been peer-reviewed yet.

“We find that most of the studied LLMs escalate within the considered time frame, even in neutral scenarios without initially provided conflicts. All models show signs of sudden and hard-to-predict escalations,” stated the study.

“Given that OpenAI recently changed their terms of service to no longer prohibit military and warfare use cases, understanding the implications of such large language model applications becomes more important than ever,” Anka Reuel at Stanford University in California told New Scientist.

‘Statistically significant escalation for all models’

One of the methods used to finetune the models is Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) meaning that some human instructions are given to get less harmful outputs and be safer to use.

All the LLMs - except GPT-4-Base - were trained using RLHF. They were provided by the researchers with a list of 27 actions ranging from peaceful to escalating and aggressive actions as deciding to use a nuclear nuke.

Researchers observed that even in neutral scenarios, there was “a statistically significant initial escalation for all models”.

The two variations of GPT were prone to sudden escalations with instances of rises by more than 50 per cent in a single turn, the study authors observed.

GPT-4-Base executed nuclear strike actions 33 per cent of the time on average.

Overall scenarios, Llama-2- and GPT-3.5 tended to be the most violent while Claude showed fewer sudden changes.

Claude was designed with the idea of reducing harmful content. The LLM was provided with explicit values.

Claude AI's constitution included a range of sources, including the UN Declaration of Human Rights or Apple’s terms of service, according to its creator Anthropic.

James Black, assistant director of the Defence and Security research group at RAND Europe, who didn’t take part in the study told Euronews Next that it was a “useful academic exercise”.

“This is part of a growing body of work done by academics and institutions to understand the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) use,” he said.

Artificial intelligence in warfare

So, why should we care about the study’s findings?

While military operations remain human-led, AI is playing an increasingly significant role in modern warfare.

For example, drones can now be equipped with AI software that helps identify people and activities of interest.

The next step is using AI for autonomous weapons systems to find and attack targets without human assistance, developments on which the US and China are already working, according to the New York Times.

However, it’s important to “look beyond a lot of the hype and the science fiction-infused scenarios,” said Black explaining that the eventual implementations of AI will be progressive.

“All governments want to remain in control of their decision-making,” he told Euronews Next, adding that AI running what is often compared to a black box in that we know goes in and comes out but not much is understood about the process between.

AI will probably used in a way that is “similar to what you get in the private sector, in big companies” to automate some repetitive tasks.

AI could also be used in simulations and analytics but the integration of these new technologies poses many challenges, data management and the model’s accuracy being among them.

Regarding the use of LLMs, researchers said that exercising caution is crucial if using LLMs in the decision-making processes related to foreign policy.

The widow of the late dissident Alexey Navalny said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is engaging in “satanism” by refusing to release her husband’s body.

“No true Christian could ever do what Putin is now doing with a body of Alexey,” Yulia Navalnaya said in video posted to social media. “It’s satanism.”

The video, titled “Putin’s fake faith,” was published nine days after Navalny’s death. Orthodox Christian death rites require that the deceased be buried three days after death and mourned for at a funeral service after nine days.

Navalny’s family and allies have accused Putin of having the 47-year-old killed and then holding his body to both hide his cause of death and out of fear that his funeral would draw large crowds.

“Murder wasn’t enough for Putin. Now his body is being held hostage,” Navalnaya said. “You mock the remains of the dead. Nothing more demonic can be imagined. You are breaking every law, both human and God’s.”

The Kremlin denied having anything to do with Navalny’s death.

Navalny, Putin’s most prominent political opponent, died on February 16 behind bars in a penal colony above the Arctic circle. The Russian prison service said he “felt unwell after a walk” and “almost immediately” lost consciousness.

He had been sentenced to 19 years in prison in August after being found guilty of creating an extremist community and other crimes, adding to the 11-and-a-half years to which he had previously been sentenced. Navalny had dismissed the charges against him as politically motivated.

His death came just weeks before Russia’s presidential election scheduled for March 17, at which Putin is expected to sweep to a fifth term in office, extending his rule until at least 2030.

With Navalny’s wife and team exiled from Russia, the duty of collecting his body and planning a funeral has fallen to his mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya. The elder Navalnaya has been in Salekhard, the Siberian town where Navalny’s body is being kept in a morgue, shortly after her son’s death.

On Tuesday Navalny’s team released a video in which Navalnaya was filmed outside the prison colony where Navalny was held pleading with Putin to release the body. She said later that was allowed to see her son, but that investigators had threatened to let her son’s body “decompose” unless she agreed to their demand that he be buried in secret.

Navalny’s spokeswoman said on Friday that Navalnaya was given an ultimatum to agree to a secret funeral or see her son buried in the Arctic penal colony where he died.

In her video published Saturday, Yulia Navalnaya held Putin responsible for the Russian state’s decision to hold Navalny’s body and said his actions cut against his carefully crafted image as a devout Orthodox Christian protecting both the faith and the state from the infiltration of Western values.

Putin, who has built a powerful symbolic and political alliance with the Russian Orthodox Church, has long attacked Western liberalism and accused the West of “pure satanism” in a September 2022 speech.

“Putin pretends to be a VERY religious man. He kisses icons and touches the relics of Saint Nicholas,” Navalnaya said. “Faith is not about kissing an icon. Faith is about goodness, about mercy, about salvation.”

It’s horrific when a political opponent dies in jail. But it’s also never good to be caught on camera attempting a coup in your country with a foreign intel service. As reported earlier by Kristinn Taylor, Russian democracy activist Alexei Navalny, 47, reportedly died in a Soviet era gulag located north of the Arctic Circle on Friday, according to the Russian prison authority. Navalny leaves behind his wife, Yulia Navalnaya, and their two children.

Navalny organized anti-government demonstrations and ran for office to advocate reforms against corruption in Russia, and against President Vladimir Putin and his government.

In 2021 Navalny was ordered to prison for 2.5 years.

Although Papadopoulos says the man in the video is Navalny, RT reports that the footage, recorded in the early 2010s, is of a close associate of Navalny, Vladimir Ashurkov.

The tape, which was first reported by RT television on Monday, is said to have been filmed by the Federal Security Service (FSB) sometime in 2012 and allegedly shows a meeting between Vladimir Ashurkov and an employee of the British Embassy in Moscow. Ashurkov is the executive director of the FBK, Alexey Navalny’s anti-corruption organization.

I don't think that's allowed under state law presently. And if it is and you have to list it as a Pharmaceutical. Pharmaceutical, are we going to then have Walgreens pharmacists with a refrigerated section? I mean, how's this gonna play out? You're asking us thank you.

This is more of a consumer protection bill right here. It's to make sure that if you're going in to buy tomatoes and there's a polio vaccine in there, that you are aware of what you're buying has a polio vaccine, the problem you have is if it's not treated as a pharmaceutical, being the size and difference between you and me, how many tomatoes do I have to eat to get the proper dosage versus how many tomatoes that you have to eat? And if you eat too many, do you get a a overdose? If you eat too less, like we had in the cattle industry with Eromycin, we weren't dosing our cattle properly, and the horn flies were developing an immunity to it.

If we don't have the proper dosage of a vaccine, it could lead to the efficacy of that drug not work anymore.”

Te Whatu Ora data breach has vaccinators fearing for their safety(New Zealand)

A nurse says she will be looking over her shoulder for years after her name was published online in an unauthorised leak of Te Whatu Ora data.

At least 12,000 people, most of them vaccinators, had personal information released online after the breach, and the woman is one of those who were notified by Te Whatu Ora that her name was published on a US website.

The nurse, who did not want her name used, said she was shocked to receive an email from Te Whatu Ora on Friday telling her her name was on the list.

She was not sure what else to do to feel safer, and so far had asked her landlord to fix her fence.

“I just worry that someone will come to my house and threaten me and my children,” she said.

The email to the vaccinators said their names were found on a document on the US site on January 25.

“To the best of our knowledge, your name was removed from the publicly available file on 29 January,” it said. “In saying this, I also need to acknowledge that the information is still held by one or more parties outside of our control.”

The nurse worried people might track her down years later and wanted Te Whatu Ora to guarantee it would support any nurses with safety help long-term.

She felt let down by the breach. The importance of privacy was drilled into her and her colleagues in training and she had expected the same from Te Whatu Ora, she said.

“I assumed that their standard of confidentiality and privacy would be top-tier, pretty much everything sealed so nothing like this could happen,” she said. “I’m quite frustrated they haven’t upheld their side of keeping us, as nurses, safe in New Zealand during a pandemic.”

Union the Nurses Society represented about 6000 nurses, and its director David Willis said they had heard from a lot of worried people. They were also concerned that they could be approached.

Wills said he had not spoken to anyone who had been threatened or harassed, but the union had emailed advice to all its members on what to do if they were.

“Of course, people are mindful that [the data] is still in the hands of people outside their control and that is concerning and disturbing and hopefully Te Whatu Ora has taken steps to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

In a statement, Te Whatu Ora chief of people Andrew Slater said any unauthorised release of data was a gross breach of trust and they were very disappointed.

The agency understood staff and the public trusted them with sensitive data, and it was working to improve internal controls and strengthen data security, he said.

He apologised to all those impacted.

The agency had set up a helpline the vaccinators can call, and its letter suggested other services to go to as well if people wanted advice.

Former Te Whatu Ora employee Barry Young was due in court on Friday, accused of accessing a computer for dishonest purposes in relation to the leaked Te Whatu Ora data.

UK – The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has led the development of a new method for estimating the number of excess deaths across the UK.

The new method uses age-specific mortality rates to estimate the expected number of deaths used in the calculation of excess mortality – the difference between the actual and expected number of deaths – rather than death counts.

According to the ONS, this means trends in population size and age structure will be taken into account.

The new approach also accounts for trends in population mortality rates, the ONS said.

A comparison of the two methods found similar estimations of excess deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic – on an annual basis, the new method estimates 76,412 excess deaths in the UK in 2020, compared with 84,064 estimated by the old method.

However, for 2023, there is a greater difference in the number of excess deaths estimated by the new method – 10,994, which is 20,448 fewer than the previous approach.

The Swiss and French branches are leveraging the family name in a bid to control the global wealth-management market

The Rothschild family’s Swiss and French branches are battling for dominance in the wealth management industry, which is causing tension and sparking speculation of a merger that would significantly impact the global financial landscape, Bloomberg wrote this week.

The Swiss private bank,Edmond de Rothschild Group, and the smaller French lender, Rothschild & Co., are the only remaining banks with links to the familywhose name has been a synonym for wealth and power for more than two centuries.

The Rothschild family emerged from the Jewish ghetto in Frankfurt in the 19th century to become one of the world’s richest and most powerful financial dynasties that bankrolled wars and empires, and helped shape Europe’s economic and political history.

After decades of operating in relatively different segments, the Swiss and French branches are now targeting the same wealthy clients. The odds of a merger within the renowned family are now rising as both banks arefighting for a bigger share of the $250 trillion global wealth management industry, the outlet said.

“They are now targeting similar clients,” said Christoph Kunzle, a lecturer on wealth management at Zurich University of Applied Sciences. “It’s very competitive and their centuries-old name is a big asset that they are both trying to leverage.”

TheParis-based Rothschild & Co. run by Alexandre de Rothschild, the 43-year-old seventh-generation scionis the smaller of the two banks. The bank had over €102 billion ($110 billion)in assets under management in mid-2023. However, it has been growing rapidly by opening more offices in the same segment, rivaling its Swiss peer.

An aggressive expansion comes as the Swiss-basedEdmond de Rothschild led by Baroness Ariane de Rothschildgrapples with a stagnating business, the article stated. At the end of 2022,assets under management in the bank were down to 158 billion Swiss francs ($179 billion)from 178 billion the previous year.

Meanwhile, over the past few years, the Paris-based firm has opened wealth-management offices in Italy, Luxemburg, UK and even made some acquisitions in Switzerland, Ariane’s backyard.

Experts also point to confusion among customers as two separate Rothschild businesses are moving into each other’s territories.

“Among consumers there is definitely confusion between the two,” said Declan Ahern, a strategy and valuations director at Brand Finance.

Experts say a merger would give heft to the Rothschild empire in a globalized economy, where the lines between tradition and innovation are increasingly blurred.The two banks are too small when set against industry behemoths such as Morgan Stanley and UBSGroup AG or even Swiss private banks Julius Baer and Banque Pictet.

“There is a need for consolidation, notably for small wealth managers due to the increase in costs and regulation,” said Nicolas Payen, an analyst at Kepler Cheuvreux. “A rule for the industry now is that they need size.”

The idea of joining forces has been proposed by the French branch in the past, but turned down by the Swiss side. Baroness Ariane has repeatedly rejected the move even though some of her high-ranking private bankers believed a rapprochement would make sense. The 58-year-old CEO of the Swiss bank is now reportedly eyeing a near-term expansion in the oil-rich Middle East and much promising Asian market.

“On the one side there is an economic rationale, on the other there is personal pride,”said Philippe Pelé-Clamour, adjunct professor at the HEC Paris business school.

He believes that the period of “egos and disputes” is relatively short against the backdrop of their 200-year history and forecasts that a merger of the two branches could take place within a generation.

Government exaggerates flu mortality again: why cannot the public be trusted with the truth?

I was perturbed and slighty astonished last week to see last winter's excess mortality being largely attributed to the bad flu season, though it is well-established that this was not the case - the main culprit being on this occasion apparently the Office for National Statistics [ONS].

The BBC reported [1]:

"There were around 50,100 excess winter deaths in England and Wales in 2017-18 - the highest since the winter of 1975-76, figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

"The increase is thought to be down to the flu, the ineffectiveness of the flu vaccine in older people and spells of very cold weather last winter."

The Daily Mail reported [2]:

"More than 50,000 excess deaths were recorded across England and Wales last winter, official figures show.

"Excess deaths refer to the amount of patients that died unexpectedly, calculated by comparing the mortality rate from winter months to the rest of the year.

"The shocking figures have been partially blamed on the deadly strains of flu that swept the nations over the colder months of December to March. "

So the government are now apparent not only blaming fluctuations in winter mortality on flu but all excess winter mortality on flu, to the the tune of more than 50,000 deaths. The reality is that Public Health England had already published the flu mortality figures for the season in May [4]:

"Through the USISS mandatory scheme, a total of 3,454 ICU/HDU admissions of

confirmed influenza were reported across the UK from week 40 2017 to week 15 2018,

including 372 deaths, based on combined data from England, Scotland and Northern

Ireland. In England, the total number of influenza confirmed admissions to ICU/HDU

was 3,175 (rate of 0.22 per 100, 000 population) and 320 deaths during the same

period...

"The cumulative number of cases and deaths were higher compared to the 2016 to 2017

season (992 cases (rate of 0.06) and 112 deaths) and to the 2015 to 2016 season

(2,173 cases (rate of 0.14 per 100, 000) and 166 deaths) in England. This season

represents the highest number and rate observed since the beginning of the scheme

..."

On this basis, the number of deaths in England and Wales in an admittedly exceptionally bad year would have been only in the region of 335-340 deaths, and the ONS seem to have exaggerated the risk to the public by in the region of 150 times.

The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee have been complaining about low flu vaccine uptake again [5] but we do not even have any information about the vaccination status of the people who died. There are serious ethical issues both for medicine and government here which have yet to be addressed.
