The TFR close to San Angelo comes and goes quite a bit and I have been checking it regularly for about 3 years.

2 years ago I took a drive to the area and couldn't see anything that would warrant a TFR. The airstrips in the area are dirt strips and private.

I am intrigued by the "Keystone Ranch" is of particular interest because of the name. Not much is there but maybe some clues can be grabbed by digging on the owner Gerald F. Hatch.

Dozens of Chicago high schools that continue to employ school-resource officers to protect students and staff from violence will no longer be allowed to do so under a plan coming before the far-left city’s education board this week. The “Resolution to Create a Comprehensive Whole School Safety Policy,” which is on the board’s Thursday meeting agenda, would prohibit the 39 city schools that continue to utilize school-resource officers from continuing to do so next school year. ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - St. Joseph County is launching an investigation into the DuComb Center, a facility dedicated to helping former inmates return to society.

The county commission alleges issues there include inadequate staffing, no-show jobs, overtime abuse, and more.

This investigation centers around South Bend Councilwoman, Sharon Mcbride.

She's the Director of the DuComb Center, where her mother works and made six figures, earning more than $45,000 in overtime pay.

The St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners released a statement today saying they are investigating this along with other issues like short staffing, ghost employment, lack of training, failure to follow county policies, failure to follow chain of command, and failure to follow workers compensation.

Commissioners questioned McBride about these concerns at a Tuesday meeting.

She says she wasn't given enough time to review the accusations.

“This is unfair, and this is a public shaming that I am a black female woman, one of four in the state of Indiana and only one in the county, and to have this type of meeting in a public setting and it's very embarrassing," said McBride.

The board of commissioners is now urging anyone with any information to come forward.

International sanctions bar the transfer of vehicles to North Korea, a senior US spokesman said

The US State Department has argued thatRussia violated international sanctions on North Korea when President Vladimir Putin gifted a luxury car to DPRK leader Kim Jong-un.

Asked about the move during a Wednesday press briefing, State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said Putin’s transfer of a Russian-made Aurus to Kim likely ran afoul of UN penalties on Pyongyang.

”UN Security Council resolutions do require all UN member states to prohibit both the supply of transportation vehicles and the supply of luxury automobiles to the DPRK. And if this is true, it would appear to be once again Russia violating UN Security Council resolutions that it itself supported,” he said.

Miller went on to joke that Kim should have gotten “the extended warranty.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has dismissed any suggestion that Moscow violated sanctions, however, responding to similar allegations from South Korean officials on Tuesday.

”If Seoul has questions about ‘compliance with UN sanctions’ against the DPRK, then instead of running to the microphones they should to contact the UN Security Council sanctions committee,” she wrote in a Telegram post, adding “It would be interesting to know what kind of pressure Washington is exerting on Seoul to disrupt legitimate trade relations with other countries.”

Putin’s gift was first reported on Tuesday in North Korean state media, which said the vehicle was transferred to DPRK authorities last weekend.Kim Yo-jong, Kim’s younger sister and a senior North Korean official, called the episode “a clear demonstration of the special personal relationship” between Putin and her brother.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov later confirmed the reports, and said the car given to Kim was indeed an Aurus, though did not specify which model.

Putin met with Kim last September in Russia’s Far East, where the North Korean leader toured various military and civilian facilities. The two heads of state visited the Vostochny cosmodrome, where Putin showcased two Aurus state vehicles.

Guinea's military junta, which seized power in a coup in September 2021, has dissolved the government.

The announcement was made through a presidential decree read on state TV on Monday by the presidency's Secretary General, Brig Gen Amara Camara.

Mr Camara did not disclose the reason for the dissolution or say when a new government will be put in place.

Ministers in the dissolved government were ordered to surrender their passports and official vehicles.

Their bank accounts have additionally been frozen.

The junta also instructed security agencies to "seal" all the country's borders until government ministries have been fully handed over to the junta.

Lower-level officials will temporarily manage state ministries until a new government is appointed, Mr Camara said.

South Carolina brings back firing squad executions

South Carolina has given the green light for condemned prisoners in the state to be executed by firing squad.

Final approval came Friday after the state Department of Corrections said renovations had been completed on a new death chamber where the executions can take place in the state capital of Columbia.

The electric chair is the state’s primary method of execution, but a May 2021 law now allows prisoners to choose to die by lethal injection or firing squad, the state said in a press release.

The new chamber – which cost $53,600 to build — consists of a metal chair with restraints that faces a wall. The wall has a rectangular opening where three shooters can carry out the sentence. Witnesses can watch the action behind bullet-proof glass. Inmates will receive a hood and be allowed to make a final statement.

Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Utah also allow death by firing squad. Only three prisoners in the United States have been executed using the method since 1976, all in Utah, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.

America no longer has representative government—it has a corrupt oligarchy.

These may seem like extreme statements. But they are provably true. Evidence continues to mount that the nation is being led by paid-off politicians, unelected bureaucrats, woke generals, spymasters, media moguls, tech giants, elite financiers and criminals. Its highest office is occupied by a pretender to the throne who is controlled by a shadow president.

Finally members of Congress are investigating the criminal activity of Joe Biden. They still will not touch the crime of stealing the presidency, but they are finally officially probing the gigabytes of evidence out there showing that, in addition to the ongoing coup, the Bidens have committed numerous other serious crimes.

Most of the “Biden crime” headlines focus on Joe’s son, Hunter, using cocaine, driving recklessly, having sex with prostitutes, making payments to people who control and enslave prostitutes, and dozens of similar violations. The conservative research group Marco Polo has documented from his own laptop his participation in 459 crimes. Yet Hunter Biden continues to walk free, a defiant symbol of the power that radical-leftist elites wield right now to reward and punish as they please (“A Record of Corruption,” page 18).

But alongside the evidence of those more salacious crimes is extensive documentation of what looks like bribery from foreign sources. This includes unexplained trips to China under Secret Service protection and millions of dollars accepted from corrupt elites in Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, all while his father was vice president of the United States—and Barack Obama was president.

How much did Barack Obama know and have power over Joe Biden’s long-term, multimillion-dollar political-criminal enterprise? How much did he use that power? And how much is he using it now?

Evidence of Joe Biden’s corruption has been public for years now and has surely been known to Washington, D.C., elites even longer. Yet it was not until January 2023 that the House of Representatives Oversight and Accountability Committee opened an investigation into the financial enrichment that members of his family have received since he became vice president in 2009. And it was not until December 2023 that the Republican-led House of Representatives passed an official impeachment inquiry resolution against Biden.

You would think lawmakers would be more curious. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich stated the obvious in a September 2023 podcast with journalist John Solomon: “All of this is occurring while Obama’s president. None of this could have happened without his active knowledge. It’s just not possible.”

Bank records reveal at least $20 million in overseas payments made to the Biden family and their partners, some of which triggered Suspicious Activity Reports from the banks to the U.S. Treasury. This was clearly the Biden family finding numerous ways to sell political influence. But closer scrutiny shows that these bribes stayed within a certain limit. They advanced the policies of the Obama administration, promoting self-destructive “green energy” investments in the U.S. and actively diminishing U.S. power abroad.

Second suspect arrested after children’s bodies found in concrete, car trunk in Pueblo

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after the remains of two children were found encased in concrete in a storage unit and inside a suitcase in the trunk of an abandoned vehicle, according to the Pueblo Police Department.

Police arrested Corena Rose Minjarez, 36, on Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the deaths of Yesenia Dominguez and Jesus Dominguez Jr., the department said in a news release Friday.

Officers arrested Jesus Dominguez, 35, two days later on suspicion of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, according to a Saturday update from the police department.

Pueblo police began investigating the case Jan. 20 after receiving a call about a suspicious-looking metal container filled with hardened concrete in a storage unit in the 600 block of West Sixth Street.

Investigators determined the remains of a young girl were encased in the container and interviewed Minjarez and Dominguez on Jan. 31. They told investigators it was possible the children were in Phoenix. Jesus Dominguez was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

On Feb. 6, investigators obtained a search warrant for a car belonging to Minjarez at a local scrap yard and found a suitcase with the remains of a young boy in the trunk.

DNA test results confirmed Thursday that the remains belonged to the two children, according to the department.

The children were last seen in summer 2018, when Yesenia was 3 years old and Jesus was 5 years old. No missing persons reports were ever filed for the children, according to the department.

Mijarez is in custody at the Pueblo Detention Center on $2 million bail.

CBS faces uproar after seizing investigative journalist’s files

“Anyone who isn’t confused really doesn’t understand the situation.” Those words, from CBS icon Edward R. Murrow, came to mind this week after I spoke with journalists at the network.

There is trouble brewing at Black Rock, the headquarters of CBS, after the firing of Catherine Herridge, an acclaimed investigative reporter. Many of us were shocked after Herridge was included in layoffs this month, but those concerns have increased after CBS officials took the unusual step of seizing her files, computers and records, including information on privileged sources.

The position of CBS has alarmed many, including the union, as an attack on free press principles by one of the nation’s most esteemed press organizations.

I have spoken confidentially with current and former CBS employees who have stated that they could not recall the company ever taking such a step before. One former CBS journalist said that many employees “are confused why [Herridge] was laid off, as one of the correspondents who broke news regularly and did a lot of original reporting.”

That has led to concerns about the source of the pressure. He added that he had never seen a seizure of records from a departing journalist, and that the move had sent a “chilling signal” in the ranks of CBS.

A former CBS manager, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said that he had “never heard of anything like this.” He attested to the fact that, in past departures, journalists took all of their files and office contents. Indeed, the company would box up everything from cups to post-its for departing reporters. He said the holding of the material was “outrageous” and clearly endangered confidential sources.

Herridge declined to make any public comments on her departure. CBS also did not respond to my inquiries about this.

A source within the the union, SAG-AFTRA, confirmed that it has raised this controversy with CBS and remains extremely concerned about the effect of this action on journalistic practices and source confidentiality. The union believes this is “very unusual” and goes far beyond this individual case. “It is a matter of principle,” a union spokesperson added. “It is a matter of serious concern. We are considering all of our options.”

For full disclosure, I was under contract twice with CBS as a legal analyst. I cherished my time at the network. I have also known Herridge for years in both legal and journalistic capacities.

CBS is one of the world’s premier news organizations, with a legendary history that includes figures from Murrow to Walter Cronkite to Roger Mudd. That is why the hiring of Herridge was so welcomed by many of us. The network was at risk of becoming part of the journalistic herd, an echo-chamber for Democratic and liberal narratives. It had been mired in third place for ages, and it was moving in the wrong direction by alienating half of the country.

Herridge had been a celebrated investigative reporter at Fox News. An old-school investigative journalist, she is viewed as a hard-driving, middle-of-the-road reporter cut from the same cloth as the network’s legendary figures.

The timing of Herridge’s termination immediately raised suspicions in Washington. She was pursuing stories that were unwelcomed by the Biden White House and many Democratic powerhouses, including the Hur report on Joe Biden’s diminished mental capacity, the Biden corruption scandal and the Hunter Biden laptop. She continued to pursue these stories despite reports of pushback from CBS executives, including CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews.

Given the other layoffs and declining revenues, the inclusion of Herridge was defended by the network as a painful but necessary measure. But then something strange happened. The network grabbed Herridge’s notes and files and informed her that it would decide what, if anything, would be turned over to her. The files likely contain confidential material from both her stints at Fox and CBS. Those records, it suggests, are presumptively the property of CBS News.

For many of us who have worked in the media for decades, this action is nothing short of shocking. Journalists are generally allowed to leave with their files. Under the standard contract, including the one at CBS, journalists agree that they will make files available to the network if needed in future litigation. That presupposes that they will retain control of their files. Such files are crucial for reporters, who use past contacts and work in pursuing new stories with other outlets or who cap their careers with personal memoirs.

The heavy-handed approach to the files left many wondering if it was the result of the past reported tension over stories.

Regardless of motive, the company is dead wrong.

These files may contain sources who were given confidentiality by Herridge. The company is suggesting that the privilege of confidentiality (and the material) rest ultimately with CBS. As a threshold matter, that cannot be the case with regard to files that were generated during Herridge’s long stint with Fox News. Yet CBS appears to be retaining those files, too.

When sources accept confidentiality assurances, it is an understanding that rests with the reporter. It is a matter of trust that can take a long time to establish on a personal level between a reporter and a source.

It is certainly understood that the network stands behind that pledge. However, most sources understand that their identity and information will be kept protected by the reporter and only disclosed to a select group of editors or colleagues when necessary. It is the reporter who implicitly promises to go to jail to protect confidentiality — and many have done so. Such agreements are less likely to occur if sources are told that any number of unnamed individuals, including non-journalists, could have access or custody of these files.

When “Deep Throat” agreed to disclose his identity to Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, he was assured that they would protect it until his death. He would not have been so inclined if he had been told that this was a type of privilege by committee with potential disclosures to corporate, legal and HR personnel. Reporters like Herridge have long served as the primary defenders of privileged sources. Indeed, Herridge is still in court defending confidentiality over a series of stories at Fox News in 2017, even at the risk of being held in contempt.

CBS is suggesting that it will allow unnamed individuals to rifle through Herridge’s files to determine what will remain with the network and what will be returned to the reporter. That could fundamentally alter how reporters operate and how willing sources are to trust assurances that they will be protected.

In criminal cases involving privileged information, the government has an elaborate “filter team” system to wall off access to information under review. In the court system, judges use in camera and ex parte reviews to protect such information. Ironically, the media itself seems to take a more ad hoc approach. Indeed, CBS seems to have adopted a “Trust us, we’re the media” approach. CBS should reconsider this move before it does real harm to itself or its reporters. Ironically, it should not want to be the custodian of such records, which can expose the company to production demands in litigation, such as the ongoing fight over the confidentiality of the Fox sources. To store such documents is to invite a storm of subpoenas.

CBS could be forcing a showdown with the union, which must protect not only this journalist but all journalists seeking to maintain control and confidentiality of their files.

The union may have no choice but to go to court to force CBS to protect journalistic values, including a demand for an injunction to force the company to secure these files and bar review until a court has had a chance to consider these questions of confidential and proprietary claims to the files.

Famed CBS anchor Walter Cronkite once said “our job is only to hold up the mirror — to tell and show the public what has happened.” It now appears that CBS itself will have to look into that mirror and answer some questions of what happened to the confidential records of Catherine Herridge.

The Florida Senate gave final approval to a bill that would permit the release of documents relating to convicted sex offender and now-deceased Jeffrey Epstein as part of a 2006 Florida grand jury investigation.

The bill expands the rules for allowing the release of evidence and/or testimony from a grand jury.

Sen. Tina Polsky, D-Boca Raton, filed the legislation. It passed the floor unanimously, 37-0.

At the time, Epstein escaped with far less severe punishment relating to allegations regarding his solicitation of minors for sexual activity.

The Florida House of Representatives passed the bill last week unanimously. The House version was filed by Rep. Peggy Gossett-Seidman, R-Highland Beach.

Gossett-Seidman has said that victims of Epstein deserve to know more about testimony against Epstein in the Florida case.

The legislation notably applies when the subject of a grand jury investigation is “deceased.” Epstein passed in 2019.

It also applies when the grand jury investigation was related to “criminal or sexual activity between the subject [and] a minor at the time of the [activity].”

However, it notes that the court can still issue redactions and other restrictions on releasing testimony.

DeSantis followed up this article and tweeted that he will indeed sign the bill:

“All files related to Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activity should be made public. While the federal government continues to stonewall accountability, I’m glad the Legislature has taken action to release the grand jury material from the Florida state case. I will sign the bill into law.”

The Intelligence Community of the United States of America has been weaponized against the incumbent leader’s political opposition, having even turned the spy agencies of our closest allies against the leading Republican candidate.

This is the inescapable conclusion to be drawn if a bombshell report released last week is accurate.

Relying on “multiple credible witnesses,” independent journalists Michael Shellenberger, Matt Taibbi, and Alex Gutentag revealed that in the lead-up to the 2016 election, the CIA enlisted the help of foreign nations to surveil associates of Donald Trump in a plot to frame him as a Russian asset.

Released by Public, the report alleges that, before Trump took office, Obama-appointed CIA Director John Brennan identified 26 of Trump’s contacts and misleadingly presented them as espionage targets to the spy agencies of the U.S., the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand (also known as the “Five Eyes” alliance).

According to the report, the CIA then used the intelligence gathered by its Five Eyes allies to convince the FBI to open its infamous “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation into Donald Trump.

Though since discredited by the Mueller Report and the subsequent Durham Report, Crossfire Hurricane was a thorn in Trump’s side throughout his time in the Oval Office.

Agents working on the investigation leaked key details to a Trump-hostile press, prompting wall-to-wall accusations from the media that Trump had colluded with Russia to win the White House.

When Trump denied these accusations and voiced suspicions that his campaign had been spied on, the corporate press doubled down, framing him as paranoid and dishonest.

But he was right all along.

That Trump’s campaign was spied on was already well known. What Shellenberger, Taibbi and Gutenberg uncovered was the trickery allegedly employed by the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) to circumvent United States law.

“US law prohibits such intelligence gathering unless authorized by a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant,” the authors explain. Moreover, “the weaponization of the IC for political purposes constitutes election interference.”

But if foreign spies could gather dirt on Trump on behalf of the IC, the problem would be solved—and that is apparently just what they did.

“They were making contacts and bumping Trump people going back to March 2016,” one of the sources cited in the report explains.

(In spy talk, “bumping” means to make contact with a target in a way that appears casual or coincidental when the real purpose is to gather intelligence without raising the target’s suspicion).

These revelations stand in stark contrast to persistent claims by the U.S. government that Crossfire Hurricane was triggered by unsolicited intel from an Australian diplomat.

According to the report, the reverse is the case: The Australian diplomat’s allegations were only made possible by the CIA first enlisting help from Australian spy agencies to “bump” Trump’s associates ahead of 2016.

In a subsequent Fox News interview, Michael Shellenberger even suggested that the FBI’s raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in August 2022 was executed in an effort to recover a binder that contained details of the IC’s illegal espionage against Trump from the American pubic.

“There has been widespread speculation that this binder was the reason or a reason for the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago,” he explained.

The nearly two degree wide telescopic field of view looks toward the well-trained constellation Canes Venatici, near the handle of the Big Dipper. Also known as NGC 4258, M106 is about 80,000 light-years across and 23.5 million light-years away, the largest member of the Canes II galaxy group. For a far far away galaxy, the distance to M106 is well-known in part because it can be directly measured by tracking this galaxy's remarkable maser, or microwave laser emission. Very rare but naturally occurring, the maser emission is produced by water molecules in molecular clouds orbiting its active galactic nucleus. Another prominent spiral galaxy on the scene, viewed nearly edge-on, is NGC 4217 below and right of M106. The distance to NGC 4217 is much less well-known, estimated to be about 60 million light-years, but the bright spiky stars are in the foreground, well inside our own Milky Way galaxy.

A transgender killer smirked at her victim's relatives and refused to apologize because her gender identity made her 'vulnerable', as she was sentenced to 22 years behind bars.

Moses Jacob Lopez, 30, brutally stabbed cab driver Reese McDowell Lawhon to death in his car in April 2023 with bladed brass knuckles after suffering a mental health episode while on a night out partying in Portland.

Lawhon had picked her up after a 911 operator suggested she call a cab home. Lopez senselessly stabbed him in the chest without provocation.

At her sentencing on Wednesday, Lopez callously justified the murder by blaming a lack of mental health support and a system she saw as failing her.

'I refuse to apologize for the lack of help I so desperately needed and called and asked for from 911 services,' Lopez said, reports The Oregonian.

She also moaned that her gender identity meant that she felt 'targeted,' and vulnerable to attack the paper reported.

Cops pronounced Lawhon dead at the scene after his cab was found stopped in traffic at around 7pm on April 9, 2023, in an unprovoked attack

Lopez was initially charged with murdering Lawhon, but later accepted a plea deal that will see her serve only 22-years in prison for manslaughter.

Her victim's family reacted with outrage at the reduced charges, telling Lopez at her sentencing that she will 'always be a monster.'

That was the remark that prompted her smirk from the killer, with a spokesman for Lawhon's former employer Radio Cabs branding her behavior in court 'disgraceful.'

On the night of Lawhon killing, Lopez had been out partying in downtown Portland, but suffered a mental health breakdown and called 911 for a ride home.

The 911 operator instead suggested she call a cab and pay for a ride home.

After calling Radio Cab, static on the taxi dispatcher's line led them to enter the wrong address.

'I ended up in a very scary part of town where I was genuinely afraid,' Lopez said at her sentencing, claiming her gender identity leaves her often feeling targeted.

Surveillance footage from inside the cab showed the trip was almost entirely silent, until Lawhon realized the mistake and tried to turn around under a highway overpass.

At that moment, Lopez lunged forward and stabbed Lawhon in the neck 'completely out of the blue', detectives said.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 7pm after motorists reported the cab stopped in the middle of traffic, and officers found the driver slumped over his steering wheel.

He had been stabbed in the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez was quickly apprehended by cops in the nearby area, and paramedics said she was seen exiting the cab covered in blood, and dropped a pair of brass knuckles with an attached blade to the ground.

After her arrest, Lopez said she was having a mental health crisis and that was the reason for calling 911 for help - a narrative she stuck to at her sentencing as she refused to apologize.

However, those that knew Lawhon said he was a 'kind soul', and would have certainly helped her if she had told him she was struggling.

Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus lander has completed lunar orbit insertion successfully and is currently orbiting the Moon. Odysseus continues to be in excellent health and is approximately 60 miles (92km) from the Moon.

The spacecraft will orbit the Moon for approximately one day before beginning its descent toward the lunar surface. The landing opportunity is targeted for Thursday, Feb. 22, at 5:30 p.m. EST.

All powered NASA science instruments on board have completed their transit checkouts, received data, and are operating as expected, including: LN-1 (Lunar Node 1 Navigation Demonstrator), NDL (Navigation Doppler Lidar for Precise Velocity and Range Sensing), RFMG (Radio Frequency Mass Gauge), ROLSES (Radio-wave Observations at the Lunar Surface of the Photoelectron Sheath), SCALPSS (Stereo Cameras for Lunar Plume-Surface Studies). Since the LRA (Laser Retroreflector Array) instrument is a passive experiment designed for the lunar surface, it cannot conduct any operations in transit.

LN-1 has made three successful passes with NASA’s Deep Space Network, establishing real-time communications with ground stations on Earth. Upon lunar touchdown, the LN-1 team will conduct a full systems checkout and begin continuous operations within 24 hours of landing. NASA’s Deep Space Network will receive its transmissions, capturing telemetry, Doppler tracking, and other data and relaying it back to Earth.

A SCALPSS checkout was completed during transit, confirming the cameras are operating as expected and the instrument is in good health. Using four tiny cameras, SCALPSS will collect imagery of how the surface changes from interactions with the spacecraft’s engine plume as the lander descends toward the Moon.

RFMG continues to gauge the cryogenic propellants on Odysseus throughout the mission, including propellant loading, transit, lunar orbit insertion burn, and low lunar orbit. Data collection and analysis will continue through landing on the Moon and could provide insights on how to measure fuel in microgravity.

NDL and ROLSES have been operated, and flight controllers will continue to monitor the instruments and collect data to inform preparations for landing.

Intuitive Machines’ IM-1 mission is the company’s first mission through the agency’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative, which aims to gain new insights into the lunar environment and expand the lunar economy to support future crewed missions under NASA’s Artemis campaign.

US urges UN court not to order Israel out of Palestinian lands

The United States told the UN's top court on Wednesday that Israel should not be legally forced to withdraw from occupied Palestinian territory without security guarantees.

The International Court of Justice is holding a week of hearings after a request from the UN, with an unprecedented 52 countries giving their views on Israel's occupation.

Most speakers have demanded that Israel end its occupation, which came after a six-day Arab-Israeli war in 1967, but Washington came to its ally's defence at the court.

"The court should not find that Israel is legally obligated to immediately and unconditionally withdraw from occupied territory," said Richard Visek, legal advisor at the US State Department.

"Any movement towards Israel withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza requires consideration of Israel's very real security needs," he argued.

"We were all reminded of those security needs on October 7," he said, referring to the Hamas attacks that sparked the current conflict.

The UN has asked the ICJ to hand down an "advisory opinion" on the "legal consequences arising from the policies and practices of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem".

The court will probably deliver its opinion before the end of the year, but it is not binding on anyone.

- 'No peace' -

Israel is not taking part in the oral hearings, but submitted a written contribution in which it described the questions the court had been asked as "prejudicial" and "tendentious".

The October 7 attacks and the ongoing violence in the Gaza Strip "reinforce the United States' resolve to urgently achieve a final peace", said Visek.

Also speaking Wednesday, the representative from Egypt, which has played a key role in talks between Israel and the Palestinians, said the occupation was "a continued violation of international law".

"The consequences of Israel's prolonged occupation are clear and there can be no peace, no stability, no prosperity without upholding the rule of law," said foreign ministry legal advisor Jasmine Moussa.

The hearings kicked off Monday with three hours of testimony from Palestinian officials, who accused the Israeli occupiers of running a system of "colonialism and apartheid".

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki urged the judges to call for an end to the occupation "immediately, totally and unconditionally".

South Africa's ambassador to the Netherlands told the court that Israel's policies were "more extreme" than the apartheid black South Africans suffered before 1994.

The case is separate from a high-profile case brought by Pretoria against Israel for alleged genocide during its current offensive in Gaza.

In that case, the ICJ ruled that Israel should do everything in its power to prevent genocidal acts in Gaza and allow in humanitarian aid.

PARC Successfully Demonstrates Electronics that Disappear on Demand

DARPA-Funded Vanishing Electronics Offers Commercial Promise in Personal Data Protection and Distributed Sensing

PALO ALTO, Calif. —

PARC, A Xerox company, today announced it has extended its multimillion dollar contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop its Disintegration Upon Stress Release Trigger (DUST) technology under DARPA’s Vanishing Programmable Resources (VAPR) program. In September, PARC successfully demonstrated this technology at DARPA’s Wait, What? Forum and received significant positive interest from academia, government, military, and a myriad of commercial organizations.

PARC performed several dozen live demonstrations of the transient technology, where attendees used a standard laser pointer to provide a remote logical signal that triggered a current pulse in a resistive heater which provided the energy needed to initiate a defect and disintegrate PARC’s electronic device within a couple of seconds. While an optical signal was used in this demonstration, PARC’s technology can also be triggered via a radio frequency signal as well as physical or chemical triggers.

DUST is an innovative technology based on stress-engineered glass that allows electronic devices chips, sensors and other electronics to be rapidly and remotely disintegrated on command, leaving small, dispersed particles, invisible to the human eye. DUST builds on PARC’s cutting-edge capabilities in advanced manufacturing, novel electronics, and smart devices.

As commercial sensors and the Internet of Things grow in popularity, vanishing electronics are needed to address the pervasiveness of electronics used over large areas. Over time, the broad distribution of electronic devices will result in significant accumulation in the environment or invasion of personal information.

“This technology can help commercial organizations as well as individuals to protect personal data,” said Gregory Whiting, DUST principal investigator and Manager of the Novel Electronics Area in PARC’s Electronic Materials and Devices Lab. “Our approach is designed to be compatible with off-the-shelf electronic devices and fabrication processes, potentially allowing a wide range of complex transient functionality to be realized.”

The goal of DARPA’s VAPR program is to demonstrate electronic systems capable of physically disappearing in a controlled, trigger-able manner. These transient electronics require performance comparable to commercial-off-the-shelf electronics, with limited device persistence that can be programmed, adjusted in real time, and remotely triggered on demand.

Sophisticated electronics are being developed at PARC with a focus on novel form factors and manufacturing approaches, as well as reduced size and cost. These devices enable wide distribution of functionality and integrate naturally with the DUST approach, enabling transient devices to be used for applications including various objects embedded with sensors to support the fast growing Internet of Things industry and applications to improve personal data security. PARC, with the encouragement of DARPA, is exploring a wide range of commercial uses for DUST.

NASA has selected another five university teams to participate in real-world aviation research challenges that could help transform flight in the skies above our communities.

Research topics range from safeguarding automated aircraft from cyberattacks to finding ways to help aircraft operations across the nation more quickly recover from delays due to major storms or technical problems.

“The idea is to give students, faculty and their partners the chance to conduct research – both physical and digital – that helps us realize our vision for 21st century aviation that is sustainable and offers more diverse air travel options,” said Koushik Datta, University Innovation project manager for NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.

The University Innovation project includes two efforts through which universities are invited to submit research proposals and from which teams are then selected: the University Leadership Initiative (ULI) and the University Student Research Challenge (USRC).

A key ULI goal is for faculty-led student teams to gain experience by participating in aeronautics research on a multidisciplinary team made up of partners from other universities and industry, including faculty and student populations who are underrepresented or have not applied their skills to aviation problems.

Meanwhile, in addition to conducting technical research, student-led USRC teams help them develop skills in entrepreneurship and public communication. Each team of students selected receives a USRC grant from NASA – and the additional challenge of raising funds from the public through student-led crowdfunding.

ULI makes selections once a year, while USRC manages multiple selection cycles each year, with proposals for the next selection cycle due by 5 p.m. EDT on March 21. Visit the NASA Aeronautics Solicitations page for more information.

For ULI, three teams were selected resulting in a total of $18 million in awards during the next three years. For each team, the proposing university will serve as lead. The new ULI selections are:

Impulse Space, a startup focused on space transportation and exploration, announced Feb. 21 that retired Space Force general John “Jay” Raymond has joined its board of directors.

Based in Redondo Beach, California, Impulse Space was founded in 2021 by Tom Mueller, a founding member of SpaceX who helped design the Merlin rocket engine that powers the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles.

Impulse Space develops orbital maneuvering vehicles for last-mile payload delivery in low Earth orbit and beyond.

Raymond was the Space Force’s first chief of space operations from 2019 to 2022. His appointment “comes amid a period of strong momentum for Impulse in the government sector,” the company said in a news release.

Impulse Space recently won two Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) contracts under the SpaceWERX Tactically Responsive Space challenge. About 232 companies submitted 302 proposals for this project. Impulse Space was one of 19 awardees.

As a board member, Raymond will “support and advise the Impulse team in its work with government partners and customers,” the company said.

Raymond in a statement described Impulse Space as “an innovative company led by our nation’s leading propulsion experts, focused on responsive space mobility.”

Impulse Space in November launched Mira, a small transfer vehicle flying a mission called LEO Express-1, which successfully deployed a cubesat. The company earlier this year unveiled a new larger vehicle called Helios, designed to serve as a transfer stage for transporting satellites from low Earth orbit to geostationary orbit in less than a day.

“With the two awards from SpaceWERX and the guidance from General Raymond, Impulse can help bring the government closer to its goal of unlocking a more responsive space profile,” said Mueller.

One of the SBIR contracts is to demonstrate rapid refueling operations with the Mira vehicle. The other focuses on the development of the Helios engine to enable access to high-energy orbits beyond LEO.

“We believe that enabling tactical responsiveness in space — especially in orbits like MEO [medium Earth orbit] and GEO [geostationary Earth orbit] — is the next major frontier for our national space program, which is why we’re thrilled to have General Raymond join our board,” Mueller said.

After retiring from active duty in October 2022, Raymond joined the private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management as senior managing director. He oversees supply chain and strategic opportunities, and provides strategic guidance on investments in the space domain. Cerberus is said to be among the potential buyers interested in acquiring the Boeing-Lockheed joint venture United Launch Alliance.

Hughes Network Systems announced Feb. 21 it will supply modems and other ground-based technology to SES Space & Defense for a military experiment aimed at establishing a multi-vendor mobile communications network.

SES is planning a demonstration under the U.S. Air Force’s DEUCSI (Defense Experimentation Using Commercial Space Internet) program,

SES and Hughes will attempt to establish a hybrid network supported by the SES-15 and SES-17 geostationary satellites, SES’ O3b medium orbit satellites, and SpaceX’s Starlink low Earth orbit satellites.

Mobile network tests in this demonstration will include ground- and air platforms.

Multiple experiments funded by DEUCSI

This experiment is one of several ongoing initiatives under the DEUCSI program. The Air Force Research Laboratory started the project in 2017 to explore the potential of using commercial satellite internet constellations to provide connectivity for military platforms.

Hughes’ network management software for the experiment is based on technology developed under the Air Force’s Enterprise Management and Control (EM&C) program. The military intends to use EM&C software to enable users to switch networks if the system they’re on gets disrupted by electronic jamming or cyber attacks.

Hughes’ modems and network orchestration software “will enable resilient broadband connectivity using both Ku- and Ka-band GEO, MEO and LEO satellite constellations for various communications on-the-move test scenarios,” said Rick Lober, vice president and general manager of Hughes Defense and Government Systems Division.

“Whether users need connectivity on the ground or in the air, resilient communications must be available using the frequency band and satellite system that is most effective for the application and location,” Lober said.

Over 100 alien-looking species discovered in underwater mountains

More than 100 new species of alien-looking marine life have been discovered living amid huge underwater mountains off the coast of Chile.

An international team of scientists visited previously unexplored seamounts - towering at up to 3,530 meters - and found dozens of never-before-seen species.

Experts impressively mapped more than 52,777 square kilometers of the seafloor at depths of up to 4,500 meters, identifying deep-sea corals, sponges, sea urchins, amphipods, squat lobsters and other species they believe to be new to science.

The research team, led by the Schmidt Ocean Institute (SOI), used a remote-controlled underwater robot to explore the marine life at the looming seamounts.

On their ambitious expedition, the team explored the Nazca and Salas y Gómez Ridge, located both inside and outside of Chile's jurisdiction, to collect data that could be used to support the designation of an international high-seas marine protected area.

Countless companies are pining to mine mountain ranges across our planet's oceans for their natural minerals, such as cobalt, they harbor.

However, previous tests have already shown how this mining would desecrate the lively communities of mostly undiscovered marine life the seamounts play host to.

The Salas y Gómez Ridge is a 2,900-kilometre-long underwater mountain chain comprised of more than 200 seamounts that stretch from off the coastline of Chile to the southeastern Pacific Ocean island of Rapa Nui - better known as Easter Island.

The majority of the underwater mountain ridge exists outside any nation's jurisdiction.

The researchers also explored two of Chile’s protected marine areas: the Juan Fernandez and Nazca-Desventuradas marine parks.

During their expedition, the scientists used the underwater robot SuBastian, which is capable of descending to depths of up to 4,500 meters - 14.5 times the height of the London landmark The Shard - to collect data from ten seamounts.

All ten of the seamounts are to be used to advance Chile’s marine protection efforts.

The US Marshals transferred J6 political prisoners Ryan Samsel and Jake Lang from the DC Gulag predawn Tuesday morning to an undisclosed location, and no one knows where they are.

Jail guards forced Samsel and Lang to adhere to a temperature check around 7 pm on Monday, a typical indication that within hours, any semblance of normalcy would be torpedoed, and they would be mysteriously transferred to another jail in another state.

At approximately 4 am on Tuesday, Samsel and Lang were chained and shackled in black box cuffs and thrown on a bus and were provided no information about where they would be taken.

The two high-profile January 6 defendants could be transferred to any jail across the United States or even housed in a maximum security prison at the BOP’s discretion.

Samsel was in a battle with his attorney,Stanley Woodward, for weeks leading up to the transfer, begging for his lawyer to file a complaintthat would allow Judge Jia Cobb to grant him life-saving surgery for a blood clot condition.

“They really are trying to kill me,” Samsel told TGP moments before he was shackled and dragged away.

At his Feb. 2 verdict hearing, Samsel approached the bench to speak to the judge after Woodward disregarded Samsel’s critical medical condition for months and throughout the proceeding.

Samsel told Judge Cobb that he only received blood thinners for the first time after three years of pretrial detention following the TGP‘s reports about his inability to walk while suffering from a blood clot in his leg.

“As soon as I was recommended outside [medical] treatment, I get [transferred.] This is what always happens. Every single time I am referred to outside treatment, I get [transferred.] Stopping my meds will make me extremely sick.”Samsel has been brutally assaulted, even tortured, each time he has been transferred, but now on blood thinners, an open wound could cause him to profusely bleed out and take his life.

For months, Samsel and Lang have been housed on the same cell block in solitary confinement in the basement of the Washington DC Correctional Treatment known as “the Hole.”

While incarcerated, Lang, a self-described serial entrepreneur, hosts a podcast on TGP, created the Blessed News TV, and has raised tens of thousands of dollars to assist January 6 defendants with acquiring adequate legal representation through his organization SponsorJ6.com.

Sponsor J6, an endeavor supported by small donations from the American public, has also recruited a team of attorneys and experts, including this reporter, to provide analysis of the thousands of hours of January 6 footage and crafting lawsuits to combat the DOJ’s political persecution of J6 protesters.

Lang’s organization is also sponsoring a booth at CPAC that kicked off Wednesday morning, where his team of investigators is meeting families of J6 defendants across the country to demand answers from their representatives.

Samsel and Lang unapologetically and frequently call attention to the DOJ’s malfeasance surrounding January 6 while held without bond in pretrial detention, stripped of due process legally afforded by the 6th Amendment. It is unclear whether the move is retaliation by the government for speaking out or what prompted their sudden transfer.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, which allows users to track an inmate’s location, Samsel is “not in BOP custody.” Lang’s attorney, Steven Metcalf, called this reporter on Tuesday night,perplexed in angst, after spending the entire day searching for his client’s location, to inquire whether anyone has an update on where either of the political prisoners has been transferred.

“I don’t know where Jake is after he was transferred,” Metcalftold TGP in an exclusive interview. “The message I got was he was taken out of his cell at 5 am this morning. I called every person — US Marshall Supervisor Brown, the DC Jail Warden Secretary, the general counsel for DC Jail — ==I got zero answers and it’s 8 pm tonight.

“I understand safety concerns,but we are talking 14 hours later. As Jake’s attorney, should have some sort of response or understanding as to where he has been transferred. Safety concerns and someone getting transferred ins normal. The 14 hours is what bothers me. It is not a coincidence that these two January 6 defendants — Jake as a pre-trial detainee at this time is being transferred at the same time that Ryan is being transferred. I think there’s more to this story that I’m not getting answers on.”

Metcalf not only fears for these defendants’ safety amid the perilous journey to another correctional facility, butthe constant unwarranted transfers deprive both he and his client of crafting an adequate defense for trial.

“Also, what bothers me is they were asked to get his temperature checked last night. There was obviously aplan to transfer Jake and Ryan — and what bothers me is I don’t understand the reason for the transfer of these two,” Metcalf continued. “I am trying to develop a case with Jake, and every time we can do something, it gets torpedoed. Every single time that I get into a comfortable situation, and Jake gets comfortable, he gets moved, and his legal documents get confiscated. I have to constantly start at ground zero.

“This is a vital time where he should be assisting his defense. Instead, what happens is he keeps getting moved around and losing all the information that I provided him, such as his hard drives, his computer, his computer charger, and printed-out legal documents.

“I don’t believe in coincidences, but it’s very coincidental that I just filed another bond application and supplemented that bond application with regards to his conditions in jail still, to this day. It’s a constant cat-and-mouse game, and it’s unacceptable.

Neither Lang nor Samsel should have ever been held in pretrial detention for the crimes they committed during the Capitol riot, Metcalf contends.

“For three years, Jake has managed to rise above getting tortured,” he said. “But I am always concerned about his safety under these circumstances.If he’s incarcerated with people who are not J6ers, then the guards alert other inmates that he’s a January 6 detainee, and they try to get them to retaliate in a certain way based on politics.”

“If he’s with January 6 detainees, that environment has also become toxic as well. So, I’m constantly in fear for Jake because I don’t know what’s gonna happen.And after 15 transfers, it’s also like, you know, nothing can faze me. There’s always an issue, and it’s always unnecessary. So, the appropriate response from the government would be to let this guy out on a pretrial bond so he can prepare for his defense and go from there — because this is getting to a point where it’s just ridiculous. These sudden transfers jeopardize their safety and make it impossible to obtain his legal file. This is all becoming a very big issue obstructing preparation of his defense.”

Metcalf continues to work around the clock to get to the bottom of what prompted the unnecessary transfer and identify his client’s location.

TGP tried reaching Samsel’s attorney multiple times over the months regarding Samsel’s medical deprivation, and repeatedly on Tuesday, for comment surrounding why he did not attempt to stop his client’s transfer as Samsel requested. Woodward has yet to return TGP’s request for comment at the time of this publication.

“I am held in the hole still. Every time I get to see a doctor, they refer me to a special outside doctor, then I get transferred. My lawyer,Mr. Stanely Woodward, is hiding this from the judge,” Samsel continued before he went missing for 2 days at the time of this publication.

“I continue to struggle day to day, not for self-glory but for truth. I have found through this journey who is true to me and not as I was convicted of false crimes because people who I declared to be my friends decided to provide the FBI statements. They sat with the FBI for a few hours and decided to help convict me,” he continued.

“This is my 19th jail and the 23rd transfer. This is why I don’t get medical. We have filed medical complaints with the judge in the past, and she sent me to Jefferson [hospital]. At Jefferson, I was again recommended surgery. We even had the doctor

There are few men and women out there willing to stand for the truth. I had many people accuse me of lies, but truth is always brought to light. Neither defendant has accepted a plea deal despite constant coercion from the government with an ultimatum they would be released if they cooperate. Both Samsel and Lang helped save other protesters’ lives during the Capitol riot as police shot and brutally beat demonstrators.

J6 investigator Tommy Tatum and J6 defendant Phillip Anderson attest if not for Lang dragging their bodies to safety while they were on the ground getting beaten by cops and trampled by crammed protesters.

Samsel rendered Joshua Black aid after police fired a bullet through Black’s left cheek. Police then attempted to arrest Black after he was shot, and Samsel pleaded with the cops to, “Leave him alone.” For intervening when cops attempted to arrest Black on Jan. 6, Samsel was convicted of a felony count of assault on an officer.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Mike Pence's Advancing American Freedom group is in the process of launching a $20 million effort to defeat "unprincipled populism" in the conservative movement."

The American Solutions Project aims to convince those on the right who may have been enticed by populist messages to revert back to true "conservative principles."

"Our nation was founded on conservative principles that have stood the test of time," Pence told RealClearPolitics. "The Constitution and this great American experiment must not be swayed by movements or personalities, but must hold fast to the time-honored principles that have made America strong and prosperous and free."

Without naming names, the former vice president decried the fact that "many in the conservative movement have walked away from these principles, chasing the siren song of populism unmoored to conservative principles."

He promised that his organization would "hold high those principles, staying true to the ideals that have made America the greatest nation on earth," adding that he was sure the American people "will rally to our cause."

The $20 million will go towards expanding Advancing American Freedom's staff, investing in infrastructure, and promoting its work.

A number of prominent figures have joined on, including Heritage Foundation founder and former president Ed Feulner, Catholic University's chairman Victor Smith, and North Carolina retail giant Art Pope.

That Time Judge Engoron Pulled a Fani Willis

Let me pour you some piping hot tea to start your day. The most fascinating little news report has just resurfaced after going unnoticed lo these 22 years.

It seems that a certain New Yorker named Arthur Engoron, then a little remarked upon 50-something law secretary, may have tanked an $11million lawsuit with his unethical dating habits — ultimately forcing the judge who had been presiding in the case to recuse himself.

An ugly divorce boiled over into a defamation suit in Manhattan Supreme Court, with Justice Martin Schoenfeld presiding. But in shades of a Fani Willis-Nathan Wade-style entanglement, Schoenfeld's naughty secretary, Engoron, saw fit to take up with the prosecution's secretary.

The resurfaced report is called "A Judicial Affair" (archived here in case the original gets disappeared by our beneficent tech overlords) and was published by The Jewish Telegraphic Agency in summer of 2002. Let's dig in:

The law secretary of Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Martin Schoenfeld [our hero, Arthur Engoron] may be in hot water for dating the secretary of a plaintiff’s lawyer who had a case pending before the judge. Nathan Lewin, a defense attorney for the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada, said the court’s Jan. 23 ruling against his client in several pre-trial decisions is "suspect" because of that relationship, of which he was not informed until late last month.

What is it about prosecuting their enemies that gets leftists so hot and bothered? It's kind of sick, when you think about it. If that little $11 million spat in 2002 got old Arthur so excited, one can only imagine the state in which he's gone about as he levies multi-hundred-million-dollar penalties against the despised Donald Trump.

On second thought, let's not imagine it.

Let's read on:

Lewin is defending the rabbis in an $11 defamation million suit filed by Helen Chayie Sieger of Borough Park, who claims their decision to allow her husband to remarry without requiring him to grant her a rabbinic divorce in effect labeled her an unfit spouse.

Lewin said in court papers that the law secretary, Arthur Engoron, claims he only began dating the secretary of the opposing counsel, Christopher Sullivan, on May 10. But Lewin said Sullivan’s actions in the case may have been "influenced" by information he received from the woman, identified in the papers only as Sue. And Lewin noted that Engoron "was drafting [later] decisions and communicating" with the judge about this case during the time he was dating Sue.

The judge agreed that Engoron's unprofessional behavior had compromised the case:

Schoenfeld, at the request of the defendants, recused himself from the case July 1 after revealing that he had recently learned of the relationship. He said Engoron’s conduct raised ethical questions that he would report to the appropriate authorities, Lewin noted in his papers. Lewin said actions taken in this case may be criminal in nature and asked the court to conduct a full investigation.

One would think that such an unethical indiscretion would scuttle the ambitious 50-something Engoron's fledgling law career, but come on, people — this is New York! Within a year, Engoron had been elevated to the bench. The AP summed up his meteoric rise to the judiciary hero he has become today:

Engoron joined the bench in 2003 as a judge on the New York City Civil Court, which handles small claims and other lesser-stakes lawsuits. In 2013, he was appointed an acting justice of the state’s trial court and ran unopposed for a permanent post in 2015. His term runs until 2029, though New York requires judges at his level retire when they turn 76.
