"If you can properly phrase the question, then the answer is the easy part, So, to the degree that we can better understand the universe, then we can better know what questions to ask."

What do you think the right question to life is?

feel shame so yes, what he said is retarded. no matter how perfectly phrased the question is, a lack of understanding logic will always be a hindrance

A more appropriate question would be, what is life to you?

YouTube embed. Click thumbnail to play. To the degree that we can better understand any semblance of objectivity in out universe, properly phrasing the question is much less important than properly framing definitions and terms.
To better understand our personal universe however, phrasing the question is very important.
The question that everyone must ask themselves is what do they really want out of life? Which of course depends on their beliefs and values that make up who they are.

Getting the correct question is usually 90% of the work.
Articulate messages from the pre-verbal brain.
Define the terms correctly and consistently.
Those two are really hard. Do them right, and the answer typically falls right out.

"WHO are you? and what do YOU want?" The great philosopher Iroh
Very clear version of modern pop philosophy.
OP already knows it, and has found it unsatisfying.
Everything since Darwin has been unsatisfying, and that's the main issue with it. We became aware that pre-Darwin answers were satisfying lies. It looks at present that humans want something that does not obtain.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTJfwy_YJyc&t=6364 timestamp should be correct:
Humans want to value things that have value APART from the fact they value them. No such thing exists, or can exist. If no consciousness values a thing, it is valueless, end of story.
At best you can choose to value what everyone else is valuing. This is sheep behaviour, and terribly vulnerable to 100th monkey logic.

Ever prayer I ever made was answered fully, while the prayers of my friends seldom came true. Then after I stopped being a Christian, it was still the case that all of my desires I put strong intention and visualization into still came to fruition. I now study Neoplatonism and Hermeticism, and even the seemingly impossible or unreal can be done without calling on any sort of higher powers. I know that's not the point to you, but I'm going to do me and you can do you.

It was more for knowledge. I can't resist the opportunity to hear a new idea (new to me, anyways) concerning how reality is, and I always test things experientially. It wasn't a desire for power so much as the realization that the power already evident was possible with or without Christ. This left a huge gap in Christian philosophy/theology, which was filled when viewed from a Hermetic perspective. And also, radicalism just isn't for me.

Most atheists are too close-minded and robotic, separated from so much learning because they can't consider anything unless it's already been proven. They hold a strong assumption that they're right about what they say and any other perspectives couldn't be true, just like the religions they mock. Try extra hard not to be like that.

We have good reason to not pay much attention to ideas that are unlikely to be true. There isn't time to give every crackpot an ear when he steps on the soapbox; atheists tend to think you need to earn respect and aren't automatically entitled it by virtue of being alive. Of course this is an anonymous image board, but I don't take this place or the posters here that seriously.

That's a very fair position. For myself, I don't discount crackpots because some aspect of truth and some aspect of falsehood can be gleaned from nearly any statement, even if it's just something symbolic that you and your intuition made up. Like all good and mediocre Discordians, I hold the firm belief that I should hold no firm beliefs, but that includes the firm belief that somebody's firm belief is entirely false.

That's fine when you have the time, but I'd rather listen to rational people because I live in a large enough city that I can avoid the company of people I don't like. I have met too many easily offended Christians who throw a fit at anything you say, even if it has nothing to do with religion. They tend to be prejudiced crackpots with poor methodologies for reaching the truth.

The time's going to pass anyways, and I'm in no rush. I spent 8 months going to hundreds of Bible studies and practicing Christianity, praying several times a day, and whatnot. There's definitely some learning to be done concerning matters that most atheist thinkers would never touch, but truth can definitely be found more quickly elsewhere.
