Sarson's Browning is basically just a slightly salty food colouring, used for gravy (six drops per half pint) and for brushing meat before cooking in an oven. I only read this after making the mistake, thinking it was brown sauce.

cytu.be still works, but there is a reason we used rabb.it. You cannot stream in a browser on cytu.be so you have to download and encode every single thing which takes forever. You can stream youtube videos though, but not many films or series there. It really sucks. No idea why others don't have this useful feature

The Daleks were created in a huge civil war on the planet Skaro between 2 races, the Thals and the Dals. The Thals were a warrior race and the Dals were a race of scientists (heavily implied to have also been pacifists). Towards the end of the war the Dals in desperation set of a tremendous nuclear explosion which destroyed all of Skaro, turning everything outside of the Dal capital city into a nuclear wasteland.
The Dals mutated and retreated into robotic shells, becoming the Daleks. The Thals turned into hideous mutations but then mutated back into humanoid life. The Daleks were isolated in their city because their robot shells couldn't function outside and grew to be the evil "exterminate" race we now know, meanwhile the Thals became a race of pacifist farmers and nomads.
In "Genesis of the Daleks" the Dals have been renamed Kaleds (an anagram of Daleks) and are now modelled very obviously on the Nazis, and have a head scientist called Davros (obviously modelled on Mengele and other Nazi scientists) who invents the Daleks as a kind of war machine.
It's just more on the nose and IMO a less interesting dynamic than the original role-reversal story.

I don't mind Davros inventing the Dalek shell he's a good character but I wish they could have kept the Dal race as they were because it would have been much more interesting to see that play out
