So this one seems to come mainly from personal perception but the general gist I've gotten is that success comes entirely from faith, rather than the individual's actual ability. A few weeks ago the boiler inspectors came around and decided the kitchen in my flat was installed wrong and will require work. I'm worried ill say something that will get me forced into the Prevent programme. The course is ostensibly to prepare to be work ready and get an interview for a job I dont want. The job requires travel up to 90 minutes to get there. 2 shifts per week working 4am until noon. It turns out that for soul crushing toil it amounts to less than my monthly universal credit which is already less than I need to live on. There is literally no other work in the area and the JC are just pushing me into it as a box ticking exercise.

Beyond those issues i've got family obligations from Christmas until mid-to-late January that I cant afford. Im going to have to beg family for money which is humiliating. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel but the next 2 months will be hell and still dont have a gf. I'd consider seppuku if I were a stronger man but i'll just go on in misery instead.

If pre-Saxon Celtic laws are anything to go by then murder wasn't actually that big a crime so long as it was conducted in the right way. Killing by subterfuge was unacceptable, whereas killing in an "honourable" manner was sort of fine. The Celts in the British Isles had been Christians for a few centuries by the time these laws were written down though but it's worth keeping in mind that we weren't bound to Rome until the Saxons became the dominant power.
