Sorairo (@ShioSyakeYakiN) and Kz(ξ)‏ (@kzrmk) first predictions are in.

Youmu's current ranking:

>Sorairo's initial statistic

4th place / 101 points (1/14 8:30~9:45 JST)

Prediction: 3rd place (by comparison to last year's growth)

>Kz(ξ)‏'s initial statistic

4th place / 200 points (until 1/14 21:00 JST)

Both statistics place her significantly than last year's initial exit poll results (10th place and 7th place respectively). I guess there's actually a chance that she'll place 3rd this time around.

Last year Koshi placed 3rd and just as before she's also dominating the twitter exit polls this year around. However, Koishi's actual popularity tends to be overestimated on twitter, whereas Youmu's tends to be underestimated.

I guess it's unlikely that Youmu would surpass Marisa or even Reimu, although the gap has been closing for a few years now, but I didn't expect her to ever surpass Sakuya either.

Hey Youmuposter, if you like this place that much why don't you claim it? Moegoggles is clearly gone for good, he's away since july.

You'll be able to defend it in case someone claims it just for cleaning the place up.

Thanks for your concern. I'm aware that the board is up for claim, but this isn't the first time that has happened either.

Moegoggles hasn't posted since July, but he last logged in as the board owner about a month ago. So, I'm still optimistic.

Originally, I started the news thread and event threads like this one as a way to keep the board alive with fairly frequent happenings.

However, it would be meaningless to continue without any readers.

If Moegoggles doesn't show up anymore, I will abandon this place as well. I might even later claim the board to clean it up myself.

Hey I'll read it. I come here from time to time. I'm meilingbro, huh.

It'd be a shame to see this board gone, it's intersting and I like all the statistics and all that stuff that you post. But hey, you can do what you want.

Maybe it would be a better idea to have a /2humai/ board for /mai/-related Touhou discussion. It just feels wrong to always use the Comfy Thread for Touhou discussion.

I still check in from time to time, I just haven't posted anything since there isn't much to discuss, and also since a tulpa-relationship is fundamentally different to a waifu-relationship.

I've mainly kept logging in to keep it from vandals, but if you want it, I trust you with it.

I didn't forget about the board, I just log back in when clearing my internet cache about once a month and I've been too busy learning EU4 to bother with it.

On the topic of the poll though, it's rather nice to see her doing so well.

Welcome back. Glad to see that you're still around.

>there isn't much to discuss

Same was true on my part considering there wasn't much news about Youmu in the past months.

Maybe I should revive one of the other threads like the translation thread. But I don't feel comfortable about my translations since I'm not a native English speaker.

>but if you want it, I trust you with it

No, you can keep it. I don't want this board to become my personal blog.

Besides, if I were to take it, it would become something completely different.

>>576

>it's rather nice to see her doing so well

Yeah, 4th place is definitely still a great result and shows that last time wasn't just a fluke.

And she now officially has the highest 1st choice rate of all characters. Last time, Wriggle still had an even higher rate and there was also a greater gap between her absolute number of 1st choice votes and Reimu's.

With a small push (being playable in a game again) she now actually has a chance to reach the 1st place.

Especially appearances in the fighting games seem to give characters considerable popularity boosts, but it will probably be about 2 years until the next one comes out.

Your English seems fine to me, but at the same time I'm aware "sounds fine in speech" doesn't always scale with "can translate well".

>No, you can keep it.

Fair enough.

>4th place

Yeah, she's been shooting up in popularity pretty steadily for a while now and with that she seems to be building a solid core. Seems like she'll remain pretty high up for years to come if no drastic change happens.

I would have assumed that Cirno's popularity is mostly based on secondary material, and Aya's on the games. But Aya lost more, even though she was playable. People don't vote for the reasons you anticipate.

>But Aya lost more, even though she was playable.

Aya swapped places with Mokou who was playable in the latest fighting game, which kind of proves my point.

You're still right in that not all characters profit much from appearances in the games, mostly the fairly popular characters and the really unpopular characters do.

But there are few characters that didn't profit at all (like Nitori), especially if you ignore the new characters. Also keep in mind that the duration of a popularity boost varies from character to character. Koishi would still profit from her very first appearance in a fighting game even without further appearances because it fundamentally changed the perception of her character.

>Cirno's popularity is mostly based on secondary material

Both, actually. Cirno with a tan was really popular among content creators for a while.

Youmu's overall popularity is definitely in decline, which is a bit worrying. Without any 1st choice votes, Youmu falls down to the 8th place. The distance between Youmu and Marisa has actually increased despite the increase in 1st choice votes.

That's also why many "less popular" characters like Flandre are much more popular among content creators. The Youmu fandom is basically like a cult with many devout followers, but without much outside recognition.

It seems strange to refer to Nitori's relative previous popularity as a factor in the change, when it is simpler to claim that the fighting game players did not like her. Aya was in neither ULiL or AoCF, so she did not lose votes because players of fighting games no longer like her.

I'm not concerned with non-1st place votes, because I assume people put more care in choosing their favorite than the runners-up. Even 8th place is high.

The detailed results for Youmu, while not yet officially linked on the main page, are already available:

http://toho-vote.info/result/character/217.php

Click on the "詳細集計結果表示" button for additional information.

About 40% of the voters filled out the survey.

80.82% of her previous voters voted for her again. That's a more than 5% increase from last year. Even the absolute numbers are higher than last year despite an overall decrease in votes.

Her popularity has continued to be above average among new fans since 2013.

The influx of new Youmu voters has decreased a bit (38% down from 40%), but it has also decreased proportionally in general. It's still about 8.9 percent above the average.

Sure.

82.05% of Meiling's previous voters have voted her again. I haven't verified it myself, but according to a 2ch post only 8 characters have above 80%.

Meiling voters tend to be older than Youmu voters. Her voters are above average beginning with 30+.

Apparently they made a mistake with the first age range though, which is 10~, when it should be ~9.

While her influx of new voters is not nearly as high as Youmu's, it's still above average.

However, her popularity is a bit below average among new fans in recent years.

The tables all have the same schema:

回答数 = answer count

回答率 = answer rate

全体の回答率 = average answer rate

回答率の差 = difference between both rates

But it's possible that the average rates aren't final yet considering the pages aren't officially published yet.

Here we have another neat graph that shows the percentage of points for the Top 50 over time.

Youmu has about 3% of the total points and I guess that also means that more than 1% of the total points consist of Youmu's 1st choice votes.

Youmu could also widen the gap between her and the 4th and 5th place.
