Recently I've been listening to the 1995 soundtrack to the game Gadget: Past as Future, which is an old, surreal adventure game that was described by Guillermo del Toro as being one of his favourite videogames and which had a tie-in novel written by the writer of the Half-Life series.
The soundtrack describes itself as comprising "quasic symphonic movements and noise montages," but then for example embed related I'd swear sounds like it would have been a direct inspiration for Portishead's Machine Gun thirteen years later.
