I handled this differently. In Inseparable, monsters are made out of dust that's weakly (usually weakly, anyway) held together by magic, so of course an ordinary kid can punch and kick right through them. I think this is closer to canon and makes a lot more sense. This line of thinking also leads to counterintuitive and fun-to-write things like Frisk easily carrying around Asriel (he's got next to no mass!) and monsters being nearly invincible to bullets (because a bullet only breaks away a tiny bit of dust and there's no organs to hit). An empty gun does more damage to monsters than a full one!
Mettaton's normal form, on the other hand, is invulnerable to FIGHT because Frisk's trying to use punches, kicks, and/or toy knives on a block of solid metal. EX? Cheap Chinese plastic, obviously.

But in canon, Frisk can fire bullets of pure Determination from a real gun and do ridiculous damage. The True Knife also has different damage depending whether it's Frisk or Chara using it. Is Chara just physically stronger?

The "bullets" thing is just an animation, and I'm not sure how to handle all of Toby's allusions, in-jokes, and generally nonsensical shit. (Seriously, that fuckin' lamp…) The only thing I can do in reply is just make my own version of unreality with my own unrealistic, parodic shit in it. (Think Chapter 3 of Inseparable is bad? I put Papyrus in a lawyer suit and blend Judge Judy and Phoenix Wright in Chapter 12)

To be more clear: it's apparently the same object separated by a very long time. When Frisk picks it up, it's a worn dagger; it's old, and rusty, and belongs to someone who died a long time ago. It's only good for sawing through plants.
When Chara picks it up, it's apparently super sharp, brand new, and ready to chop people up. (Only problem is, when he gets it, there's not a lot of people left to chop, and its huge damage is therefore meaningless.)
What's actually going on here? Your guess is as good as mine.

I've got a lot of favs and followers on FFN, but that place is such a circlejerk that collecting internet buddy points is just a matter of having a fic up and putting things that the kids want to happen in it.
I'm not sure how many of those kids are actually reading the story, though, and very few people here have meaningfully commented on it beyond the Trump-as-president bait.
114 reviews on FFN and none of them tell me what I really want to know.

I can't find the words to describe how I feel right now. I know it's stupid to say this about a silly little fanfiction, especially when I've created whole original novels and short stories, but nothing I've ever written has made me feel this way. Nothing's ever moved me this much. I can't pin down why I get more attached to other people's characters than my own, but it's just the way it is. In a sense, this isn't even my own story; it's just the story of Undertale from another point of view — from Chara's point of view. I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for sticking with me this far, and for (in your invisible, unknowing way) influencing me to write it in the first place. I am overwhelmingly glad to have done so.
But nothing can make me feel stupider than pouring out my emotions like this when the story isn't even done yet! I could end it here, but I won't. I still have a happy ending to put together. I still have to save both Chara and Asriel. I still have to right all these wrongs. I don't know when Chapter 7 will come, but it will so long as I'm still alive. See you again, soon!

I pretty much played fun with the timeline mostly to support my silly headcanon that Sans and Papyrus are actually two halves of Gaster but also because I kinda wanted Chara to have a personal vendetta against every single boss you fight in the game except for Mettaton because he's too fucking cool.
