Steel Ball Run (スティール・ボール・ラン Sutīru Bōru Ran) is the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2004 and in Ultra Jump between 2005 and 2011.

I was just thinking about the future of our manga readings and figure the best thing would be to cap off JoJo's at what I currently have, volume 4 of part 8, if it's a decent stopping point at least. Even I'm getting a little worn of it, and while I'm still hyped for this part, it will be a relief to switch gears sooner.
Of my orginal three suggestions of what to swap to I feel Berserk will probably be our best bet.

We came really close to doing Berserk before settling on Jojo's. I think ZSF voted for it and I was leaning towards it but a couple people (maybe you were one of them) were partial to Jojo's and at least a couple didn't stick around anyways.
My personal preference would be doing something short and a little corny (maybe with some hetero fanservice) before going right into another long shonen. Rosario + Vampire is one that I watched the anime but haven't read the manga yet but it's been on my list. It's got some top-tier schoolgirls, a lot of fanservice, a harem and a little action.

I was never around for the initial vote. I stumbled across you guys on /b/ close to the very beginning (IIRC Danny had just gotten shoah'd) and just kinda stuck around. If I had been around, my vote would have been cast for Berserk as well.
I like your suggestion though. So long as it's a change of pace from shonen-shit. I'm fine with Berserk or Rosario.

I don't know how much of a spoiler this is, seems more comical than anything though One of the contestants has a Stand named Hey Ya! that just tells him positive things. It has no combat capabilities and, Araki had to specify this after the fact, does not actually give any good luck. He wins 3rd place I think.

If you're talking about the needles shooting out that doesn't exist. For jumping cactus in particular it's more that all those needles make them very springy. Their means of conception is to fall off and bounce away in the wind a bit then the spines take root and grow. That's why there can be so fucking many of them in one place. I read somewhere that Thomas Jefferson went to a conference in Europe where they were figuring out the metric system but they disagreed fundamentally about what the metric system should be based on. I think Jefferson wanted a kilometer to be based on like degrees around the earth or how fast the earth rotates or something that would make some sort of astronomical calculations easy to do mentally. This idea may not have been well recieved by his editors. Whether this is true or not the "twist" for part 8 is revealed surprisingly early. I didn't like it at first since I thought only he was a dino but the power to manipulate others and turn them into different types of dinosaurs is pretty cool. 1. What are your guyses thoughts on trying to get new people the next manga we read? I figure fullb would be worth trying again (even though I'd assume people who lurk a lot are already sort of aware of the manga threads from them being there in the past. But fulla, and everything on half banned/deleted posts pretty quick when I made posts about jojo's threads a couple of parts ago. So I don't know if they're great places.
I was thinking MAL and Crunchyroll might be alright. I have mixed feelings about reddit, but r/berserk seems alright- however it looks like they also do readalongs so the thread might get deleted. r/anime is the only other place I can think of to post.
My thinking is that it's unlikely we'll get overrun and the people who stick around would probably be ok because it's sort of self-selecting.
2. Jojo do you have a projection for when we're going to finish with this? As it relates to 1 I might be afk and unable to shill.
3. Is everyone in a place that changes time for daylight savings? Or more relevantly will Jojotime fall time?

1. As is your prerogative. My only experience with Reddit communities is r/TheDickShow, dedicated to Dick Masterson's podcast, and r/CringeAnarchy, which is kinda like a /b/-lite. However most of the rest of Reddit seems pretty annoyingly liberal to a degree. I imagine r/Anime would have numerous SJWeebs.
2. We are exactly half way through part 7. I've finished reading the four volumes (18 chapters) I have for part 8. Unfortunately one of the things I wanted you guys to see doesn't occur until chapter 51 or so (I checked the wiki). However the first 17 chapters should suffice for now. The 18th I'll probably post anyways, but it is the start of another fight that I don't have the rest of and probably wouldn't want to continue with.
To answer your question we have 16 more days of JoJos; including tonight.
3. I live in the only state not yoked by DST. I've been worrying about forgetting for moths so I'll probably remember to start an hour earlier on the 5th. (I think it'd be an hour earlier.)

Well it's a bit forward of me to say that. Currently there is no connection between the two. IE Part 8 is set in 2011, but there's no signs of Emporio, Irene, etc. According to the wiki Araki has not stated for certain whether or not they are different. Considering part 7 didn't even start out as JoJo's until his editors bullied him I doubt it is or was intended to be, but also considering all the references he's made to the past universe, especially in part 8, he might be keeping his options open. The only thing he has said is that the streams won't cross between part 4 and part 8. Which you guys will understand later.

On the contrary. I imagine his dad did it under orders without sentimentality. With him and all of the spectators they could have killed him and been done with it. The real problem is that the person giving the orders didn't just have him killed, but I suppose that's the best deal they could broker. To at the very least leave a stain on his family. There's all sorts of other problems with that, but I won't look too closely at it.

Since Tusk is a stand based on the Spin phenomena I could see it retaining the perfect image of the rectangle naturally. However I do find it offensive that Johnny doesn't go back and forth between Acts to conserve his nails when needed.

They way I reckon is that just as he can create the spin from his will on anything, like when he did it in the water, he uses it on a piece of steel until the friction heats it up and it's forced into its perfect shape. Yeah I really like him, he is a badass with interesting powers and a cool design. His personality is great too(typical badass but with a good sense of humor) and his motives/backstory really flesh him out making him believable. I love Jotaro but I think I am starting to like Gyro more then him. Dio and Joseph are still my favorites though.

I would recommend watching the anime, which has been animated up to part 4, and reading the manga from part 5. Typically anime adaptations lose something in translation, but the studio behind JoJo's recreates everything scene for scene panel for panel. They really breathe life into the series.

They are only minor grievances. I said there were some shit flecks on this fight so I wanted to clarify them. Really the only annoying thing is that Johnny will still have only have Act 2 visible when using Act 3's abilities.
