JoJo was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1987[1] until 2004, when it then transferred to the monthly seinen magazine Ultra Jump, where the story continues.
The series has over 95 million copies in print,[2] making it one of the best-selling manga series in history.[3] Filling over 100 volumes (for a total of ~20,000 pages), it is Shueisha's second longest-running manga series. Publication in English of the earlier parts of the series is ongoing.
JoJo's genre spans Action, Adventure, Supernatural, Thriller, Comedy, Tragedy, Mystery, and Horror. It is perhaps most popularly known for its Stand phenomenon; the Stardust Crusaders arc and its characters Dio Brando/DIO and Jotaro Kujo; the expressive rendition of its proud, glamorous personalities; and its hundreds of nominal references to Western popular music.

JoJo was previously the longest Shueisha manga series to have not received an animated adaptation for television. One Piece gets really bad once it gets to Dressrosa. I'm just like 120ish episodes into original Naruto now but it seems like it does filler differently than OP with doing its' own arcs that are longer and elaborate but sticking very close to the manga in the bigger arcs. OP has some mini filler-arcs that are really manageable (and some junk like strawhat theater which are still sort of funny) that are either interesting or don't distract too much from the main thing. But on the Dressrosa arcs it became really bad by covering a chapter of content per episode and just doing it really slowly, or on the Zou part covering a chapter of content and then just throwing in something really stupid that lasts for half an episode. This detracted from the plot a lot more than filler-arcs and makes it impossible to skip over. So if you're going to watch everything OP is less bad, if you normally skip some parts OP is the worst.
I think Gintama just had less filler. Then some of the filler episodes were pretty hilarious, they're not better episodes but they just double-down on meta humor and keep it amusing. There are a bunch of episodes where they don't even animate it, or only animate a few minutes then just show the outside of odd-jobs and have Kagura/Gintoki/Shinpachi arguing which never got old to me.
tl;dr Gintama has watchable filler, OP isn't as made as it's memed to be because it's gotten worse recently but it still gets pretty bad- Gintama >> OP.

Oh, no we get all that. OP does have more filler than Gintama at 13% and 8% respectively. Naruto has a filler ratio of 44%
The issue was pacing, which isn't tracked like filler episodes. OP may have little filler but it usually has a low chapter to episode ratio; stretching everything out. I was wondering if Gintama also had pacing issues for similar reasons.
For context: Most anime will adapt about 3 chapters at a time based on context. OP will slow to adapting a chapter an episode or worse at times.

Oh, then no the pacing Gintama is pretty great when they're actually adapting stuff. I think there have been 1 or 2 arcs that were like 10+ episodes but they all had a ton going on and a I think there was only like 1 non-boss fight that took more than episode (with Kagura fighting another Yato) and the boss fights were like 2 episodes max.
So yeah the pacing for the bigger arcs was great. I don't know how many chapters they adapted at a time but it was enough to move fast, which I guess is the plan since they take months off between seasons to let the manga get ahead even though it seems popular enough to be continuously running.

Haven't played it. Seems to be a battle arena fighter like Tenkaichi. There's alot of love baked into the interactions and little details, but the execution is quite poor. Jotaro ends up getting all the spotlight it seems and all the other JoJos only get their 15 minutes.

TL;DR When the "controversy" happened they screened for anything else offensive and had some buildings that might have been mosques removed.
I also went to double check the Avdol backlash controversy. The only thing official I could find was the interviews printed in the recent JoJonium volumes; JoJo's manga omnibus. Araki says that he always thought about bringing Avdol back, but not right away since that would have been cheap. This 100% sounds like avoiding pointing the finger to me. Here's a non-spoilery example I can talk about. In part 4 it's explained that when Josuke was 4 and dying of a mysterious fever that took several weeks to break his mom tried driving him to a hospital, but got stuck in a blizzard. The kind stranger who helps them left such an impact on young Josuke that he copies his image and tries to help people in need; also beating the shit out of anyone who disrespects his hair. However this stranger looks too much like Josuke, and is covered in blood, as if from a battle. It seemed for sure that Josuke was going to be sent back in time from fighting an enemy stand and influence himself much like Harry Potter did in book 3. This never ended up happening. Presumably Araki had intended to do what I described, but realized time travel is fucking complicated so he axed the whole thing.

Reading through it now I'm guessing that Araki didn't even know how the fight would end until he flashed on a moment of genius at the end. I say this because the way he drew the table fluctuates a bit and earlier chapters have it open enough that D'arby should see Hermit Purple. However by the end and in the anime D'arby is positioned differently with more blind spots so he wouldn't see it. I'm willing to cut him some slack though since, as Elder D'arby pointed out, cheating takes advantage of psychological blind spots. Something D'arby Younger hasn't had to worry about thanks to his stand. That's why Jotaro's burn "Your brother would have seen through it easily" was so damaging.

Just finished making the schedule for Part 4. Apart from figuring out the best way to break down the final fight it was a lot easier than Part 3. Considering the length of Part 4 I've decided to make 2 threads for it. Diamond is Not Crash Edition will run up to Harvest, then Beautiful Duwang Edition chew will start on the titular arc it featured in. I'm doing this since my ISP hates fuckhuge threads like these it seems and that split lines up almost perfectly with the series' halfway point.
