Stone Ocean (ストーンオーシャン Sutōn Ōshan) is the sixth part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, published in Weekly Shonen Jump between 2000 and 2003. Pucci doesn't really have that kind of bloodlust. Whether killed or imprisoned it doesn't matter to him what happens to Jolyne so long as she's out of the way.
That being said this is the last "non-lethal" encounter. Bohemian Rhapsody, Sky High, and Underworld are all very lethal stands.
Between Bhemian Rhapsody, Heavy Weather, and C-Moon thousands of people will die. These pale in comparison to the death toll of Made in Heaven however.

He might not have the urge to kill someone but he is fine doing it if someone gets in his way and Jolyne has definitely been getting in his way entire time. It would be smarter to get her out of the way permanently.
Also I know its just a manga and it would end the story too quick but if Pucci wanted too he could just control the warden and some guards and have Jolyne executed at this point since she caused so much trouble ,I doubt many people would try to intervene since this jail already seems pretty corrupt.

I followed the ponefags to /trash/ after they got removed just to be subversive but I don't think anyone there would have a reason to think it was me. Or even know who I am really, as most of them didn't leave their thread when they were on b.

The reason Miu Miu didn't outright kill Jolyne immediately is because she's the warden. The reason Pucci didn't mind control her or anyone else into killing Jolyne was both hubris, and that he currently doesn't have access to White Snake. Maybe. I think Araki intended for him to have lost White Snake by now, but changed his mind later since Pucci will use White Snake again before this is over. Mentioning this now to save you all a twinge of disappointment later.

I'll assume that Miu Miu used her stand power on the guards since she was scared Jolyne was gonna kill her. WhiteSnake's lackeys aren't as loyal or devoted to their boss as Dio's lackeys were. If Dio was Miu Miu's boss then she would definitely have given her life just to take Jolyne down.

This actually makes less sense because she could have just framed Jolyne for something and abused her position to get Jolyne killed whether through an execution or guards shooting her. Mui Mui is clearly fine with Jolyne getting killed since she was shooting a gun at her with killing intent. Seems weird that she acts like a prisoner in this set of chapters when she could have used her position in jail to her advantage.

I brought this up more as a what if scenario but Pucci theoretically could have done this any time before the baby incident. Instead of sending 4 stand users to kill her, Pucci could of just sent a group of guards to her cell to throw in some incapacitating gas till she was unconscious then they would fill her up with bullets.
Obviously thats a scenario where Pucci is smart instead of doing typical animal villian stuff.

We all already know this. Water is wet, traps are gay, and animu villains are almost universally retarded. Pointing this out over and over is just annoying nitpicking. Either shut your brain off for it, or use your imagination to fill in the blanks.
So far the only animu villain that never fucked up that I'm aware of is from Berserk, and that's only because Miura is too busy playing Idol Masters to write him fucking up and whenever he does get around to writing it's usually to illustrate why the villain shouldn't care about the main character.
I guess there's also Bleach, but that doesn't really count since the villains usually lose because the MC got a last minute powerup; the opposite of this trope.

As chief of security sure but not as one of WhiteSnake's lackeys. Pucci told her to contain Jolyne and kill her if she tries to escape. This in itself is a dumb order because he knows the type of person Jolyne is so it would be dumb for him to assume Jolyne wouldn't try to escape, he should've tried to kill her from the start. Idk who this is more insulting to, Pucci's intelligence to think she wouldn't try to escape, Jolyne's character, or the reader's intelligence. No, Mui Mui pulled out her gun and shot because she saw Emporio trying to record her identity on the computer. Even when she shot Emporio's computer she still had the guards try to kill Jolyne.
Also what was Mui Mui's long term plan before she got violent? To follow Jolyne around the prison for the entirety of Jolyne's prison sentence to make sure she doesn't figure out whats going on? I'm willing to just say typical dumb jojo logic and move on but you brought it up again so I feel the need to point out how stupid it is.

I actually find it more silly that this late into the part a villian would sit back and enjoy watching Jolyne struggle when said hero has already taken down so many other villians and in a brutal fashion. Also there is no reason for Pucci not to tell her about Jolyne's previous encounters, Mui Mui should know to not play around with Jolyne.

I would agree with you if the stands were used effectively but it ended up being one on one fights which completely defeated the purpose of sending multiple people.

If we are gonna discuss what if scenarios there is no reason to include typical anime stupidity. The guards would be sent at night or whenever Jolyne isn't awake and silently take her out without her ever realizing it or having a chance to react. Also there is no reason to enter the cell when there are slots on the door where the guards can shoot from, sure Jolyne can block a couple of pistol bullets but I doubt she could take sustained machine gun fire. Also you could always just chuck a couple of grenades in there and watch her blow up. Basically my point is that Jolyne without plot armor would not survive in this what if scenario.

Because attempts to kill her have been so successful in the past. There is no functional difference between attempting to kill her and contain her. Either way she'll fight back and win.

It is possible Pucci told her he just needs 6 days. Even if he didn't she mentioned that the "futility will become a part of them" so she probably keeps it up until their spirit breaks, not their entire lifetime.

Technically Survivor was in effect for two of the fights, but I agree, he doesn't really count. We both already know why it had to be one on one. Even so facing one Stand user after the next in quick succession is still very intimidating. Araki never ended up using that though, which is another problem in itself.

I actually wrote this scenario in my reply, but deleted it because I could not think of a creative solution for it. With the concentrated machine gun fire. Assuming she has enough awareness to block a few shots then she could spread herself thin on the floor. Or pull an Elder Togoro and move her vitals out of the way while the guards shoot up an empty shell of her body. Which I can't say for certain she could do, but they have similar enough powers it's plausible.

And you won't since Pucci only really makes one, glaring mistake. I meant in general. Every part I see questions like "Why is Dio/Kars/DIO/Kira/Diavolo/Pucci doing this when he should be killing them outright?" You already know the answer. I already know the answer. And we all already know the reason for that answer: it's a symptom of the genre that must scale difficult, but managable, threats for the MC. It triggers my autism. But perhaps I'm perceiving you being more critical that you're trying to be.

None have been successful but they got pretty close a couple times. The one mind controlled guard was literally one second from putting a bullet through Jolyne's head before the frogs saved her. There's also a bunch of other situations where Jolyne would've been screwed if her friends didn't save her but I can't be bothered to list all that.

If the attempted killing works then that huge problem(Jolyne) is out of the way for good, if she is contained then there is always a chance for her to break free and disrupt Pucci's plans.

You are viewing it through the lens of the reader when I'm pointing out a problem with Pucci's in world motivation. Obviously the hero would always fight back and win since its a basic anime story but in Pucci's mind Jolyne doesn't have plot armor that would make her immune to death. Pucci isn't some 4th wall breaking character who realizes Jolyne is impervious due to story telling and thus decided containing her would be a better plan then killing her.

Even when Jolyne punched Mui Mui she didn't pull out her gun or decide to kill Jolyne, even though assaulting her would be the same as not obeying her. The exact moment that Mui Mui decided to kill Jolyne is when she saw Emporio trying to record her identity.

Saying that its ok for a story to not make sense just cause other stories in the genre also fall flat in this regard isn't really a good enough excuse for me. Instead of committing the same errors other stories do, a good writer would see those errors and fix them to improve his own story and make it an overall better piece.
How is a reader supposed to believe or care about the conflicts in the story if it constantly breaks immersion with unrealistic actions. It just makes the story weaker and thats ok cause I'm not asking for perfection or expecting much from Jojo but defending its obvious shortcomings with such a response doesn't sit right with me.
Becoming content with mediocrity will only lead to shittier stories that are less enjoyable.
Who knows, maybe villians acting logically and making interesting plans to deal with the hero and vice versa doesn't sell as well as a villian with a cool power. Also since this stuff is probably written for kids I am most likely over valuing it but as long it's in a group read format I don't see a reason not to discuss it.

Honestly I probably wouldn't care if this was an anime or if I was reading alone, but since i'm reading this with others which make its slower I am prone to noticing these smaller inaccuracies.
Not to say I don't enjoy the manga thread but recently i couldnt care less whats going on in Jojo,for instance i still dont know how that asian guy with the feng shui stand also had the ability to drown people and fill them up with water but it mattered so little to me i didnt even look it up let alone ask here.

I don't think there really is a bigger scheme of things. This series has been going on for so long and Araki still hasn't finished it so I already can tell this won't have a satisfying ending for all the time invested into it. There was some glimmering stuff here and there that you would think would get brought together and worked on like the aliens and the stand meteor and what not but JoJofag said Araki doesn't do anything with it. So at this point its just a stand battle showcase every chapter till you get to the last boss with the time manipulating stand then you rinse and repeat with a different location that doesn't even use its setting that well to make it memorable, and unless the side characters cracks a joke or 2 i will forget about them by the time the next part starts. If it wasn't for the group reading and the fact I already invested so much time into this I probably would have dropped the manga some time ago, anime could be different though since there's a possibility its visuals and sound could hold my attention.

It's hard for me to classify since it's never clear whether he actually goes to a fantasy world. I think it's pretty shitty as well. The one excuse that I will make for Araki here is that when you binge-read a manga after the fact sometimes you lose the meta-context that exists around it. So like maybe he wrote that to address a whole bunch of fan letters that were saying "obviously Gio is there for this reason".
He should still have come up with a convincing reason rather than word it like that however.

Now that I've seen Made in Heaven and what it can actually do it's hard to make comparisons.
GER was able to protect Giorno from MiH in the novel, but that's probably not canon.
GER failed to stop TWOH in the game, but even though Araki wrote for it I can only call the game "Official Fanfiction."
About as much as I can say without giving anything away is that MiH is functionally different from TWOH and it could possibly be stopped by GER.

You're right in general, but when it comes to things like this I try to rationalize it by thinking of another way it could have worked, and it is functionally different. Even then the greater concern to me is the theme and narrative direction. Emporio defeating Pucci with that moral stance in general is far more egregious to me than the means he used. Pucci stopping just shy of making Heaven permanent because Emporio living would cause it to be slightly imperfect was also annoying, but not really different than the other annoying fuckups past villains have done.

The reason Jolyne focused on him is because he went out of his way to target the Joestar bloodline. The reason he got killed in the end is because be had to press Emporio rather than let him live out his life in the jail, probably never even thinking of Heavy Weather or knowing how to find the priest. But, of course, maybe it was all destiny, and it was his destiny to falter there; it's easy to trust in gravity until that gravity crushes you, itself.

Pucci was a cunt. However what he achieved, in a genre where the badguy is always stopped at the last minute is still incredible to me.
I was just saying that for Araki to pull his "Justice always prevails" card at the end like he did is very hollow. When it is done after an important person, a city, or whatever is lost there is the sense that it is gone forever, but you can build in its place. When the entire universe is destroyed such posturing is meaningless.
If this were an alternate universe where Araki wasn't ready to quit, then it could have ended with Emporio defeating Pucci and restoring the previous universe. Then that posturing would be justified.

This is probably what rubs me raw about it. Fate rolled the dice that dictate this timeline will end prematurely? Fine. Fate dictates Pucci will fail at the last moment and Heaven will not be achieved? Fine, Fate is blind and has no biases afterall. Pucci will fail because Fate has a sense of justice? Uh, no. If that were true then Pucci could not have eliminated a timeline. Rather I prefer Emporio's posturing to just be coincidental and Fate really is random. Meaning a whole timeline was killed for no reason other than RNG. It's cosmically terrifying.

I don't think i honestly like JoJo. I find everything before part three kinda boring and even idiotic, during part three interesting but not exactly enthralling, and everything after part three hamfisted, starting from Josuke's grandfather dying and Jotaro telling him sometimes people just die, when at the end of part three Joseph was dead for at LEAST twenty minutes, with his spirit ascending to the heavens, before he got revived by the SWF and miraculously came back to life. However, it's getting posted here, it's getting posted with a schedule, and it's getting posted with a crowd, so not only do i have updates to look forward to, but i can see reactions of other people as they see it, which i can sometimes enjoy. Some of this goes back to Homestuck, and the nature of reading something bit by bit and the community going nuts between updates, as opposed to just reading something front to back and missing all the absurdity and speculation from the peanut gallery. Hell, i blazed through the first two parts on my own super fast, and i'm not sure i got half so much thrill out of that as i do from going through these chapters with breaks inbetween.

He had a bladed Oddjob propeller hat in his first appearance, with him even skilfully juggling it around his head and arms, and we never see it again or even any alternative hat attacks. The best thing he does is thaw out Zeppeli's arm, and the next best is beating one (1) generic zombie with a sledgehammer, which we also never see again (until the chariot race in part two apparently). I think he looks cool, and i definitely enjoy his stalwart attitude, but the homeboy's sub-Yamcha.

In terms of the meta-reason, blame Araki. He thought of it, he penned it, he made it canon. He is the true god, his will be done. Assuming the universe has some kind of logic to itself, i don't believe in fate. I don't think the will of the cosmos was driving Pucci onward, and i don't believe god's divine will was guiding his hand. I think it was all a matter of people's own force, and that force is what led to this outcome. It's easy to look back on a series of highly unlikely events and call it all fate or divine will, but it's all a series of personal choices that happened to culminate into the events that they did; maybe if Pucci had made the personal choice to not try to be underhanded about his sister's relationship, or maybe if he went to another, less vaguely-mexican detective, none of this would have come about. He made that choice, and every choice thereafter, and even the one to chase the goastson into his goastroom, which may have made a difference, especially in that narrow passage where the disc got shoved into Emporio's head.
But, you know, again, blame Araki. For good or for bad, it's all on him.

That's kind of why I like watching anime week by week but I find myself losing some momentum when you have a week between watching things.

I could see there being room for debate even if Araki didn't intend it. The manga isn't told from a consistently omnipotent POV so Pucci wouldn't necessarily be the authority of everything because he talked to Dio, was a priest and got an op stand. The differences between universes muddy the waters a bit as well.
