There is only one book that will get you to achieve 「anime」 drawing.
I know it says 「manga」 but 「anime」is just 「manga」at 12fps so you only need to draw 12 「mangas」before you can draw 1 「anime」.

I think a big part of the appeal of the original drawing is the medium itself. The lost contours and edges allow the viewer to fill in the gaps themselves and it ends up appealing to them almost in spite of the artist. With yours you're using photoshop and a rather neutral brush and so you lose that and everything kind of looks sloppy instead. Keep trying!

I got a question. What exactly are you going for here? Anime? Or just something of your own apart from it? You said you were a /co/ fag. And if I had to put it in the perspective of whether it followed the style of animo or mango or something like that, i'd probably say your /co/lors show a lot here.
To answer your question, I like the drawing without any real detail to the lips, but only in my own opinion of what I like in this instance.

While I didn't have any specific objective in mind going in, this thread was just a tangential inspiration to draw something that wasn't a half-assed study I guess (which shamefully, I rarely do). Now's as good a time as any to work on a generic character I can use to practice character animation with, OP's struggle resonated with me in that I don't actually try and draw the shit I want to draw nearly enough. It's like…why am I even doing this if I'm never even going to make a conscious effort to enjoy myself doing it or draw what I want to draw?
