They used to be, and still might be, at some schools. According to my HS art teacher, students in life drawing course had an option of doing it and they would get majority of class cost deducted. She went to college somewhere in Ohio in the 90s. Old people from the art studio have similar stories, but they went to college in 60s and 70s, so the times were back different then.

I hope that art studio I go to won't close after this shitshow. It is the only one in my area allowing drop-in life drawing sessions and they get a good variety of models. Unfortunately, its website was not updated since the lock downs started.

>Old hippies who want to make some money on the side
>Performers and models early on in their careers
>Mid to lower level trainers, athletes, and bodybuilders in off season
>Druggies desperate for cash
>Occasional blogger/journalist/writer doing it for the story
First two groups make slightly over half of models in my area. Lately a new group emerged. Instagram whores. They are easy on the eyes but tend to take the longest to learn decent poses that they are able to hold for a while.
