I've wanted to get good for as long as I can remember, but I keep dropping art randomly and taking long breaks. Sometimes it's just hard to force mysef to draw without getting the urge to an hero. I'm too alone, too lost in the journey of learning.

When I try to look for an art community, it's always people drawing porn and/or with minimal interaction.

How do I find people who truly want to get good? Like REALLY good, not just drawing fap material or cartoon memes. I feel so alone in imageboards. It seems I can only dream of a tightly knit group of artists who help each other and improve together and share thoughts and insights as they learn.

It's easier said than done. It's probably best to try and find people irl. Look up "atelier" on google maps and see what comes up. Even if they teach something shitty like sight-size you can still go there and draw and talk with other artists.

As a socially inept recluse living in the middle of bumfuck north of nowhere, that's not going to work.

Fap material can take you a long way… to truly master female anatomy and the generation of lust in the viewer is a valuable skill. But I agree with you.

What's your point?

You searching for a drawing buddy that pushes you to get better?

I'd love to get something like that but not only am I socially retarded, I also just started.

If you suck about as much as I do and would like to exchange info on what works I could help you.

How are you on terms of skill?

I'm of a similar mentality, but due to my personal project eating up all my draw times, I'm not really able to progress much skill wise.

Though I say that, but my tablet is broken, and I don't know how long it'll take for Wacom to get back to me. So I should probably be practicing more.

Either way, this thread is proof enough there's like minded individuals here. You should just make some IRC chatroom type of deal, and see where it goes from there.

tbh live chat like irc or discord is completely counter-productive. an imageboard or even a forum is better because small talk and other idle banter isn't as prevalent

See, your problem would be solved if this board was more active.

But…

>/art/ and /loomis/ are separate boards splitting the already minimal userbase in half

>next to no traffic generated from /loomis/ being linked in the OP in every active drawfag thread on /v/

>anon sees a board isn't moving as fast as the top 10, assumes it's dead and never comes back

Honestly it's gotten to the point where I've almost wanted to buy an ad for the board, but I doubt it will generate any traffic at all.

I actually asked the /fit/ BO a long time ago if could create an "art gains thread" on his board since /fit/ was more active and he said it was okay as long as was contained in a general.

But I never got around to it since I thought it would be counter-productive to this board to gitin gud.

What could also help build the community is getting space here, pic-related.

Because 8chan was created as a /v/ and /pol/ exodus above all others, boards that aren't explicitly pornographic in nature, particularly ones about niche hobbies like art, are mostly abandoned. We have links at the top of the drawfag threads on several boards but that doesn't seem to matter either. I was thinking of getting an ad on 8chan but I don't know if anyone actually looks at those.

If you've got money to burn go ahead, just wouldn't expect any results staggering results tbh.

BO should email Hotwheels and Co. to tell them to advertise this board at the top for while, since I've noticed those advertised there get some traffic.

Didn't Hotwheels create 8ch before the exodus? I do agree that the gamergate censorship on both half /v/ & /pol/ led to 8ch's first significant infusion of users, but I thought the site was kicking around in obscurity for at least a half a year before it happened.

This place is still going? Sweet.

Wanted to thank you guys for helping me with technical drawings about a year ago.

With your help I passed my technical drawing module with distinction.

You guys are awesome, keep it up.

Yes it technically existed before the exodus but it probably had a couple dozen users, tops. None of the art boards even existed before the exodus, for example and because 99% of the people who draw here are loyal to specific-interests boards and not to "drawing" itself these boards have been more or less abandoned.
