Any of you got a CORE account on DA?
What is it?
What does it do?
Is it at the point where you need CORE to get popular on DA?
Would you recommend it?

I've got no idea what that is man

-Yes
-It's basically Premium DeviantArt
-It allows you to customize browsing and customize your page with C++ to make it look nice
-You do not need it to be popular, it does nothing to boost popularity, networking and artworking do that. But a fancy looking page is nice when people show up.
-It's a minimum of 400 points a month, if you can find someone to gift them to you. DA has a very annoying pricing plan where the lowest plan you can buy is 15 bucks for 3 months. But I buy 400 DApoints for 5 bucks, gift them to a friend, and then the friend gifts me one month of membership using the points.

Depends on how you plan on how to use Deviantart. I recommend not wasting shekels on it though, since it only gives you the special snowflake treatment.

I use Core.
It gives you a lot of useful features and makes site browsing feel smoother/less buggy.
It lets you customize your page, see more searching, admin more groups, see who visits you, and more.
It's worth it, and I like the Core membership. It's worth the money.

So do you guys all use DeviantArt? I heard it's full of people pretending to be artists and basically the community is awful. What's the point of posting your art there? Just visibility?

Visibility is an artist's most valuable commodity. Deviantart isn't bad, it's just software. Many of its users are stupid-that's what happens when millions of people share a community. When you're at a level of competency you're comfortable with you really should have a slew of social networking sites you post to. It's kind of annoying, but it's the right thing to do.

Thanks. What websites other than DA should one also post to?

Visibilty is the thing an artist needs.
A lot and I mean a lot of the users on DA are fucking autistic.
However most autists have gathered quite a following due to the amount of retarded shit they post everywhere, so if you want to gain numbers you gotta be nice to them until your work gets so much comments it's impossible to keep up.
Another thing to note however, autists are premium grade fanboys.
They will love anything you do and amass armies against those who dare go against you.
If you want visiblity on DA, you gotta appeal to the autism.
Gather enough autism and normies will join your cause.

The community is actually okay, it's just that you have to suck up to emojis and stuff like that. The people there aren't really that terrible, just kinda annoying at best. Actually, if you go to /pol/, the community there is legitimately more dull and obnoxious than your average DA user. Although I did have to make myself more autistic to fit in with DA. If you read the ToS/etiquette, you'll realize that they actually don't just cater to autists, they actually don't really care if you're slightly mean, as long as you don't straight-up harass people. You can be /pol/ on that site too. They have a complaints forum too, which is kinda like an alternative 4chan.

You're right if the end goal is to maximize profit by whatever means necessary. Personally if that was my goal I wouldn't bother with art in the first place. If you're treating your art like a job, complete with carefully sanitized social media profiles to connect with customers, then why not just learn a programming language and get paid an order of magnitude more? At least then you don't have to spend your life pretending that you love and cherish a festering mass of retards.
Personally I'll never post my art on dA. I draw for myself and I want nothing to do with any site which both censors artists and incubates the sort of cancer who say "art theft" with a straight face while putting watermarks on their shitty MS Paint drawings. I certainly won't pay that site money just so I can have a super special page with an obnoxious color scheme and horrible fonts.

How about we make a 8chan group on DA? It'd be great knowing other anons on there to give advice, point to specific tutorials on-site and boost visibility. It might end up full of cancer like the Steam groups, but as loomis is less cancerous it might work.

Thirding this, it could be fun.
I was bit wary of mentioning 8chan outside, but now that we've been crowned most trolly website anyway, I guess it's fine.

Don't even have to put 8chan in the name tbh.
Just call the group "Drawfag Central" or something.
You know how when you sign up for a group on DA you can add a comment on why you should be added to said group?
Just make a code in the OP of the threads on 8chan when advertising the board.
"Want to join? Copy paste this: 'NI663R', when prompted for a comment"
That way autistic normies won't be joining.

Sweet.
If we were to make this group we would need to decide on a:
>Name
Drawfags-Unite?
>About Us
No idea.
>Location
"Global", obviously.
>Group Focus
"Art Creation", I would guess.
>Media Type
Either "Digital Media" or "Other… [Fill in the Blank]"
>Should we allow 4chan anons to join?
I vote yes since we all have roughly the same goal, plus even though I came over here I've never really had a problem with the anons on 4chan, just the site mods etc.
>Secret password for anons to actually becoming members?
"4/ic/loomis/8"?

The Congregation of Loomis Afficionados.

While we're on topic, how can we get more people to post on loomis? Isn't this 8chans dominant art board?

Nah, it's a pretty even split between /loomis/ and /art/, but /art/ edges it out.
Most of the drawfags, just like most of the users, are on non-art related boards. 8chan is defacto a gamergate, /v/ and /pol/ website, it's not something I have an issue with personally, but it's not conducive to a lot of fringe topics that don't revolve around porn spam.

Cool, post your username when you're all set up.
I guess a way to attract more people would be to mention it when you draw on other boards. Maybe put a tiny logo on the corner of the drawfag'd image or something.
