Artillery just means that you'll be sitting in a truck towing an artillery piece and shooting with it a few times every now and then, no real assault rifle action at all.
It's a bit hard to get into armored corps, and the better job is to be an machine gunner for one of the APCs as you'll get to fire 12,7mm rounds all around the place on full auto.
That reminds me of that one guy from /k/ who was in the French foreign legion and drew cute animu girls on military vehicles and random places they stopped by in whatever mid-eastern country he was in.
