Because I didn't plan ahead and made the background at the last minute.
Didn't want to change the expression because I liked it too much (and it makes for some raised eyebrows)
That's a really nice doodle by the way. Your style feels somehow familiar but I can't remember where I've seen it before.

I can definitely relate to that. I rarely have any plan for a background unless the idea from the beginning involved the character interacting with it. Should try to get out of that habit.

Thanks, I have some drawings throughout this thread although I'm not sure if they resemble the same style. For example these >>2602 >>2643

Oh. Yeah I've definitely see those, but you're right the styles are nothing alike.
Though, even if it's just a small sketch, I can say that your lines became more confident.
Do you have a blog or something where you post your drawings?

What do you base your drawing ideas on, is it some story you came up with? It's like they're from some manga or something and I can see that white haired girl in a few of them.
>I can say that your lines became more confident
It goes on and off.
>something where you post your drawings?
I don't usually draw Kemono specifically, It's just an inspiration and my style goes there sometimes as a result. Tsnn @ DA

Well, It's mostly blind improvisation. I'm usually doing studies or exercizes (lines, boxes, ellipses) and I often slap a kemono head on it because, well I like drawing kemonos.
If I like a particular head, or perspective and I don't want to waste them I end up making up a little scene or something for it.
The white haired girl was supposed to be a throwaway character but I might have a setting/story where she could fit. I just need to git gud.
Thanks. We need more cute art like that!

Thank you!
I drew each frames individualy with Paint tool Sai and I animated them using GIMP.
It's not too difficult (except the drawing part ofc) but I don't think it's a good method for more complex animations.
Because GIMP animates in terms of "how many milliseconds betweens frames" rather than "how many frames per seconds" like proper animation does.

But that's exactly how GIF animations work. The frame interval is specified so the viewer software can animate accordingly.

yep, that's how it is when you put a gif together manually - the computer works with delays. get a good animation program to let you deal with fps and a timeline instead.
anyways, >>4586 here again for my half-yearly update.
i did work more on environments, but also faces. i'm inspired by the more refined kemono faces i see sometimes on e621 and in anime. some of them have a very human-like shape which i like.

Hello thread. I have decided to attempt stepping up my art, and I think I've got my mental problems under control enough to do it. I might give up tomorrow but let's hope not.
I want to try drawing proper images with environments and stuff as often as possible, hopefully every day, because I realize there's a lot of stuff I don't understand. Colors are another thing I struggle a lot so I wanna experiment with color more as I do this. I dunno if my style will always be very kemono but hopefully that's ok.
I'm also interested if my progress will be visible if I post stuff in a single location. I'll probably draw at least 5 drawings (with environment) for each post so I don't spam this thread too much.
0. drew a few days ago as a test but never got around to finish it
1. started yesterday, it was inspired by a request that I decided to take into another direction. I got a better idea for the same concept so I lost interest in this
2. another request inspired thing, I didn't get very far because I've been struggling for hours trying to understand how to draw accurate mirror reflections. there's some trick with perspective that I'm missing and I just can't figure it out.
3. a request technically, the colors are crap and I have no idea what I want of them, I wasn't even supposed to add a bg originally
4. something more relaxed for change

Thanks, unfortunately it seems I learn least from the nicest-to-look-at drawings. For example #4 I just went ahead and drew without thinking about perspective or shapes or anything very much, I don't feel like I learned anything from it.
>I'm trying to get back into drawing myself.
I haven't been drawing very actively recently either. Hopefully we can both get to it and improve some.

#2 and #3 don't have much value variance so everything blends together and nothing pops out to the eye (except for the reflection, clever way to emulate depth of field!). They're good if you look at them carefully, but it's not easily digestible.

yeah they don't really convey what I wanted, I spent all the time placing objects and figuring out perspective and having no idea what I was doing. I intended to upscale the image(s) and draw more thin and detailed lines over it when I had everything in place.

Thanks! I'm not sure if I properly understand it either, gray statue-like shading like that is sort of straightforward to me, but I'm totally helpless when it comes to adding color or drawing multiple shades. I can kinda cheat by using filters to color gray images, but I don't like doing that because it doesn't teach me to draw with color.
That's what practice is for I guess.

Try using warm colors for things closer to the camera and cooler colors for things further away. You could also try experimenting with saturation levels.
