Kind of. You’re not going to figure it out by thinking about it. Rituals command parts of your psyche which you normally can’t control directly, which is where the magic happens, where energy is manipulated and spirits talked to. Your conscious mind can’t do any of that on its own.

With practice you will learn to communicate with those parts directly so that you can have them do the same without having to do the ritual.

In the meantime, the ritual is the only thing you have to talk to them.

That’s why you won’t figure it out by thinking. Only by doing the work.

However, someone with fat to spare can live for weeks or even months perfectly well by fasting in ketosis provided they keep their metabolism active by exercising a bit and they keep an eye on their electrolytes so as to not bust their kidneys (snake juice diet).

In my experience, fretting about details has never once provided any sort of benefit or increase in accuracy to me. If anything it messes with your confidence. Magic tends to work on the spirit of the intent, not the letter.

Energy as an 'impetus to move' is definitely important. It's all about making sure that the system 'makes sense' internally. People hear stuff about how magic is about manipulating belief and assume that this means it's all arbitrary. It's not. Belief needs to make sense, it needs to follow its own rules to avoid collapsing. It's more than just empty assertions. It needs some sort of foundation of Truth and Meaning.

There are two types of energy (at least) and the Chinese had a good understanding of how they worked.

One could be called vital energy. This is definitely a finite resource and it’s what keeps you young and alive.

The other is spiritual energy, and it’s better understood as an allocable bandwidth rather than a limited amount of something.

This is what keeps your consciousness in one piece and is generally not a problem while incarnate. As a discarnate spirit it might be a different story though.

Magic uses the second type of energy (although spirits can consume the first type as payment or as parasites). You can usually think of it in terms of attention, but it is definitely a separate substance which can be felt distinctively.

If ancient Chinese are to be believed (I am nowhere at that level), spiritual energy can support vital energy and prolong your life. I don’t know.

But it is a must to learn to handle it if you want to have a good afterlife and a say in your reincarnation.

Guys, I’m losing my mind. Since 2021, more and more people don’t seem real to me. On TV, online or in person. People I knew and people I didn’t. They are just not real. They’ve been replaced with empty facsimiles is the best way I can describe it. They don’t realize this and I think I might actually be going insane.

People on old videos, however, are real. I can feel it. It’s a very weird feeling which tells me I’m living in a pretend reality.
