I think Eggman will still be the last team. They mention unlocking playable characters in the Adventure mode, so maybe Eggman, Metal, and someone else are the last team, but you unlock them by beating the mode.

If Dodonpa isn't just Eggman in disguise then I'm sure the last team is Team Eggman. Probably Eggman/Zavok/Metal Sonic. Or if Metal Sonic transformed himself into Dodonpa, sort of like in Free Riders and Heroes, then the team will probably be Eggman/Zavok/Orbot+Cubot.

Not him, but I do remember one site reporting him and Amy were in when the game was first shown off, but they were the only ones to do so, so I think they might've been wrong.
Regardless, I think it's pretty clear the last team is going to be an Eggman team since those Famitsu scans only show 4 teams for Adventure mode, which makes sense if the last team is Eggman's since we wouldn't play as him in that.

So what brought you guys into the series & what keeps you around?
For me, my earliest Sonic memories comes from the beginning of the post-Dreamcast era with titles like Heroes, the Advance games Sonic X etc. but I eventually discovered the Archie comics, went back & played through the Genesis/Adventure games while also keeping up with a ton of fan content mainly fanfictions that I'd rather forget these days.
Nowadays the comics, games like Mania & the booming fan-game scene has done a great job of keeping me into the series, even when SEGA stumbles there always seems to be something worth following in this franchise.

Early days of Youtube, weirdly enough. People were posting various Sonic X things AMVs, clips, episodes split into parts to get past the 10 minute limit, etc. And I just kinda got drawn in. Eventually I explored more and got into the games more and some of the comics and I'm still a fan.

Yeah it kinda sucks seeing the Modern branch of the series catch a lot of shit lately, but I think a lot of it is born out of frustration from some of the more recent titles.

I think a lot of the hatred from the Werehog stems from a number of things. One, he was considered the worst part of Unleashed & a big reason why the game was critically panned when it first came out. Second, some of his levels were stretched out a bit too long & stuff like the repetitive battle music/not enough variety of moves made it a bit of a slog in some stages.
Personally, I didn't hate the Werehog but I did feel like there was a lot of room for improvement. I get why some weren't fans of his gameplay style but I think people can overblow it sometimes.

I think the concept combined with the gameplay that people weren't digging and the fact that it was the game after 06 were just a bad mix that sent it into being hated more than it really should've been.

I think Ice Cap could be that zone maybe. The thing is it's one of the zones with licensed music so SEGA avoids using it in games like Generations and Mania. For /sthg/ on 4chan, absolutely not. A lot of the current regulars don't care for the comics and a lot of the artists and flynn have been shitposted about too much. There's nothing wrong with criticism but a lot of it wasn't even constructive, like that two week period where JenHen's photos were spammed along with shitposting about her personal life. Hell, people are still screaming about her OCs today. When Whisper was revealed, people made up lies about her wanting to murder all the male characters because Stanley supposedly was a SJW and felt the same way and people actually started believing it and circulating that lie. Man, that sucks but it's not surprising. Stuff becoming popular seems to always be such a double edged sword. On the one hand it's great to see more people getting into something you like and giving it some recognition, but the sudden and massive influx of newcomers creates so much chaos and drama. It's not hard to see why old guards in communities tend to become elitist sometimes.
It seems like popularity is better when it increases gradually instead of happening all at once due to a certain event.

It seems like yesterday how I wanted the general to just grow when it was just starting, even at the cost of post quality, thinking that shitposting would eventually sort itself out over time. I guess I was wrong.
But as I mentioned, even though shit got worse after the anniversary party, it wasn't all nice the previous 2 years, so even if the influx was slower, with so many people and no mod oversight it was probably going to go the same way eventually.
