I legit wouldn't be surprised if a legit Sonic/Mario crossover game was at least talked about at some point, but before Odyssey it was kinda easy to see how there would be some difficulty in how you fuse Sonic gameplay with Mario gameplay.

I recall the reason for The Olympic Games being chosen was, wide global appeal and brand name power aside, it provided a "neutral location" for both IPs as Nintendo and Sega couldn't agree on settings for a more traditional crossover game. Miyamoto apparently did want Sonic in Melee but development was too far along for him o be included and so was saved for Brawl.

Thanks, I hate it. The idea is an improvement over the previous iterations and it's clever of them to try to use their geographic distribution to do edge computing, but ultimately it's doubtful if it's actually going to be good enough and it's always going to bring a worse experience to playing video games, and it will likely be another anti consumer push too. Cool even the unused Marble Zone theme was played there along with a few others I don't think many even heard until now. I wonder how much exactly was scrapped for that port. The Sonic 2 port had a sort of reverse situation where it looks like a couple zones that were scrapped (Blue Lake and Rock World Zone) became or influenced Underground and Aqua Lake Zone. I know it's old shit but if somebody were to ask me, I would say I prefer '06 over Forces. I know it's a punching bag by meme teens, """""""journalists""""""", game grumps, gg fans, etc. but the game looks and feels like it really tried to be something great or at least good. There is passion and creativity that I can hear and feel in the game but Forces looks so… sterile. So many aspects where it just doesn't look interesting or like anybody tried to really go as far out there as they wanted to. You can compare Sunset Heights to Crisis City, Metropolitan Highway to Grand Metropolis, and probably more. Some of the stages have nice details like the big rocks and all the ships in Egg Gate and stuff like that but there is so much stuff that looks and sounds uninspired and falls short to such an extent it's like they didn't try very much. I don't want to write a text wall and pretend I'm some expert game reviewer and jewtubers have taken the game apart plenty already plus I'm probably just preaching to a choir as it is if anyone actually reads this. It's just that Forces is so disappointing and feels so unambitious that it still bothers me.
On the topic of meme teens, I'm so tired of memes and Sonic memes aren't any better. It's just spamming the same line all the time. Gotta go fast, weak, no use, damn, whichever one it is has been beaten to death long ago and just keeps getting beaten. It's not funny to me anymore and irony does nothing. Sometimes Sonic memes are funny when they have effort put into them but I haven't seen it much or maybe I don't notice because I don't bother to look anymore. Just wanted to vent because I hate seeing reddit-tier meme posts and replies on this board.

This shouldn't be much of a problem if they do things the right way. They could just suspend the cabinets when not in use and wake them up when they're needed, so it'd be even more efficient than IRL operation. Even the screen and controls wouldn't need to be turned on and wouldn't wear out. Having said that if you're going to go this far why not just release the arcade games like normal games and be done with it? What's the difference at this point?

And that's the dead giveaway of why this is to be treated as just another collectable item that just happens to let you play games on it.
If people decide to buy these to actually play the games, then they'll be sorely disappointed. They'll be way better off emulating or using any of the alternatives being posted.
In my opinion, this is all a little scummy from Sega, if they wanted to do it right they would've sold a gamegear mini with a reasonable screen size, and it could still be designed to aim collectors and stuff.

It's intended for more heavy duty games all the way up to PSP (and it's always sold out, thus expensive thanks to import shipping prices).
You also have the RetroFlag GPi Case with GPiMate. It's capable of running the RPi CM3+ mini board. But combined, it's all needlessly expensive.

Even if everything is slow, this is probably one of the most important times for sonic team/sega.
Every sonic tuber does one basic decent point, with the sonic movie being a success, there's now more eyes on sonic then since 2002-2004. Thanks to that, if Sega makes a another forces then that will lead the new people to feel meh and look away, while older fans will start lose faith on sonic and with a chance of leaving. I don't think SONIC WILL DIE at all, Sonic is like 8chan, a garbage dog, even when everyone says he died, he'll still be around out there, running and pissing; But the outcome will just lead to sonic being in more years of slow, sour, mediocrity, and it would be more riskier for sonic to be in that state then sega making a sonic unleashed-scale game.
This is the time where Sega needs to put some faith in sonic team and for sonic team to not fuck up, or we're all be back at square one and sonic will lose the potential to grow it's audience in number. There still be new people thanks to the movie, but a decent amount will be lost if the next game is meh with no ads to them (if we ignore the sonic movie's sequel)

He's good and he definitely got better but I don't feel like his voice matches a cartoon hedgehog too well and I feel like his voice might match a bit better on a human anime character. With that said, I suppose his voice matches the story direction for the games he was in but I still hold my opinion. But with my complaints about Griffith's voice in mind, for those reasons I always felt like Drummond perfected the role towards the end of his time as Sonic. The higher pitch in his voice that he added worked for, well, a cartoon hedgehog but his voice sounded cool while he was at it. Drummond's voice, to me, perfectly captured Sonic's physical appearance and personality.

Probably Tangle because of her tail, her abilities are a good match for the level design of Sonic games and she would be able to fit into one with ease. Whisper could work too but it would not be so straightforward and tweaks might be needed to the level design and gameplay to accommodate her, hopefully without resulting in a gameplay experience like Buddy in forces because that would just suck. Ultimately if they do put them in a game I doubt they'd pick just one of them, they always put them together.

Well, I finally remembered to play Sonic Utopia now that I have a better rig that lets me play games and I'm really glad I did. I'll summarize the sperging that plenty of jewtubers and probably some subhuman """""journalists""""" did about the game and just say that, if Sonic Team/Sega is going to throw Classic Sonic shit at me constantly, I want it to be like this. This fixes just about all the problems I ever had with the classic games and even the modern games. Sonic feels good to control and accelerate, I can actually see ahead of me, he doesn't slow down when he jumps (fucking finally), the homing attack works beautifully and works as a double jump nicely, and I can finally stop/start rolling on command. It controls beautifully.
And yes, I know getting classic sonic stuff like this is unrealistic, how clever of you to point it out.

Not really, there aren't any side-comics, sidestories are all contained on the comic itself, and it was made to be read from strip to strip.
Just start from 1 and go on, until issue 184. That's the last one with a new story published officially, from then on they're all reprints with new covers until issue 223, the end of the comic in print form.

So the argument is that Amy is not sexually mature and that Sonic character ages are analogous to normal human ages. Ok, so let's go by sheer logic to try and debunk this.
We know that both Sonic and Shadow are as mature as they're going to get, since while Shadow is designed to be at peak physical condition, and is literally 65 years old, he and Sonic are the same height. So we can assume that for male hedgehogs, 110cm is about as tall as they get, therefore they are mature at that point. Amy is only a few centimeters shorter than this, which would make sense given she's female, therefore shorter.
This is all on top of Amy not only having fully developed breasts, but being the same height as Sally (barely "legal" but still an adult, last I checked). Also, she lives alone, is perfectly independent, and nobody during the entire series across all media (except under Penders) has addressed or questioned her lack of legal guardian at all (unlike Tails, where this aspect of his character is occasionally brought up).
I'm expecting more than a couple people to reply to this and call it hoop-jumping, stretching, or some other dismissive Twitter term, but bottom line: Amy, for all intents and purposes, is an adult, and the ages are only really there to make these characters seem more relatable to real-life children. It was a pretty sweet GET, even on a slow board.
I heard a rumor that Iizuka wanted to pitch another NiGHTS game this year. I was hoping that either of the two would help out and contribute since even after their transfers to Square Enix they were pretty quiet but it's a pipe dream now. I want to know how a NiGHTS sequel would look like with them reunited instead of just Iizuka and Hoshino like with Journey of Dreams. Whether or not that character will return, I hope both Balan and Mania will inspire Iizuka and the team to do their best for the 30th birthday game or whatever is they're working on.
And that Balan will turn out better than than Rodea the Sky Warrior's situation between Prope, XSeed, and NISA. I can't help but feel a little pity when creators break out of the companies that they became famous with and then not quite reach the same level of success, but maybe that's just me. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but I'd rather see a Vanquish/God Hand sequel or anything rather than The Evil Within games Shinji Mikami made at Bethesda and Itagaki's game "The Devil's Third" by Valhalla Studios infamously got screwed over, to say nothing of two other notoriously botched kickstarter "revivals".
At least Iga got of that unscathed, for the most part.
