If you knew anything about Freedom Planet's development, it was originally cringy fanfiction starring a bunch of OCs. It was so far removed from Sonic that it had no reason not to be original.

I don't know, but I think the idea was for something simple that didn't require a lot of time or skills so that everyone could join and embarrass themselves, not for something elaborate and done over time to achieve a particular objective or something. Not saying you couldn't do that too, though, but as you see that's gonna be difficult to get anywhere.
