If you can tolerate the rock paper scissors rpg mechanic(or just use an emulator and cheat/watch a walkthrough instead) then Extra has a great story and it's honestly one of my favorites in the series. Nero was actually a well developed character in this game and I found a lot of servant-master interactions to be very memorable. Extra CCC from what I have heard is even better but sadly only one route has been translated so far(Gilgamesh's route). Don't watch Last Encore, its fucking awful and I don't understand what they were fucking thinking when they made it. They couldn't simply made a straight adaption for Extra and leave it at that? Extella is eh. The story is enough to keep me interested but fuck does the gameplay get repetitive after a while. Extella Link from what I've played so far is much better and refined. It's really satisfying to use servants like Emiya and the story for it has little to no connection with the first Extella so you can pretty much just skip to Extella Link without much problem.

If you or anyone is looking to get into Fate then read the Stay Night VN first and Hollow Atraxia afterwards. Fate/Zero is prequel to Stay/Night and its kinda a mixed bag. I personally enjoy the spectacle of it, but I understand why people don't like it so it's up to you to make of it what you will. I've already made my opinion of Extra series known. Ufotable's adaption while not perfect by any means and they do take some liberties, are fun to watch after you've viewed the VN. Also important, don't play Fate/Grand Order. You will hate yourself for it much like I have.If you really care that much about a game that only gets better near the end of the first part then just go to jewtube and watch the cut scenes.

Most people say that Zero was good I agree but you will be completely mislead by what the tone of the series will be for other works since the only other Fate shit Uro has touched was the Fate/Accel Order Event and the Lost Belt 3 China singularity in Fate/Grand Order (a shitty mobage but Accel Order was good and Lost Belt 3 was the best one yet.

I'd recommend the VN > Prisma Illya (preferably the manga, the anime is ok if you require more loli fanservice and can accept worse art) > Carnival Phantasm. I would advise only watching Fate/Zero after you're well-acquainted with the series because it might leave you with the wrong impression and you'd become a low IQ secondary that complains about the slower pace of other Nasuverse works. Also, if you enjoyed the Fate/stay Night visual novel I would highly recommend playing Tsukihime and watching the Kara no Kyoukai OVAs.
