LOL NIGGAS! I have a cat nao.
My brother is deathly allergic to cats, so I won't be able to bring it with me when I move back in with my parents.
I'll ask around for whoever the owner might be, tomorrow, but for tonight, do I need to worry about this cat shitting anywhere?
I fed him ONE can of tuna. Will that be enough to hold him over the night?
Dog owners like to feed their dogs chocolate and cheese even though it's poison for them. Is tuna poison to cats? I saw the cat eating grass outside, I didn't know cats did that.

Insect thread
Tell me, anon, what do you think is the best insect?
This little guy is the Cataglyphis Bombycina, better known as the Saharan Silver Ant. How would you feel if I told you that an insect like this can tolerate more than 54°C and you don't? And look at his colours! Isn't that cute?

Hi /an/. I just inherited a plant from an aunt. It originally belonged to my grandmother who knew what it was but has long since been forgotten. It has a climbing habit & puts out aerial roots that cling to brick apparently. It also roots easily. Does anyone here know what it is? I want to research what it likes so that I do t kill it. Thanks in advance.
Not sure if this is the place to ask as this board seems quite dead, but I guess it's worth a shot. I had to take my rooster inside the day before yesterday as it's gotten really cold all of a sudden, and he started to act really lethargic and wasn't eating. After bringing him inside where it's warm he started to eat and drink again. His shit looks pretty normal as well, no blood or worms or anything and it's of normal consistency. I decided to take this opportunity to check him for mites. Everything appeared normal except for his vent, which had a couple of small scabs on it. Could this be indication of other chickens pecking at him? He's my only rooster, so I wouldn't have expected him to be picked on by hens. I really don't think he has mites. When I was bathing him I noticed he had built up a very noticeable amount of earwax in both of his ears, and was yawning and shaking his head quite a bit. so I got most of it out with warm water, qtips and a pair of tweezers. There's still a bit of wax left, so I will get the rest of it out when I get my neosporin and peroxide tonight. I think it's the wax buildup that's causing him to yawn, since I couldn't see any signs of gapeworm when I looked down his throat the other day. That would make sense since he scratches at his ears from time to time.
Do you guys think the peroxide and neosporin is a good plan? And in the off chance that he does have gapeworm, does anyone know where to get thiabendazole? I couldn't find any online store that sells it, but I could just be retarded.

magic + animals
stole this gif from 4chan
I saw another gif like this once that was pretty much the same, but different–somebody doing a simple magic trick in front of a monkey, and you could see that the monkey "got" the trick by their surprised reaction
I find this very fascinating–that they're not real intelligent but the animals can still see that -something- very odd appears to have happened….
anybody got any more stuff like this? with monkeys or any other animals?

Rare encounter with Shopping Mantis
I found a praying mantis in my shopping cart today just as I entered the store. It was a large brown one, like this one here. Must have come off of some of the bushes in the parking lot before the carts were brought in. It fought me and tried to run away, but I managed to scoop it up without hurting it. I left the store and let it crawl onto some bushes at the edge of the property. There's a nice backyard on the other side of the fence, so maybe it'll live a while.

Cat might die soon and I don't know what to do
My young sister was playing with my cat earlier today and fucked up his jaw or something. His tongue hangs out of his mouth and he can't stop drooling. He isn't meowing like he's pain but he is acting very stand-offish from the rest of the family which is very unlike him. I suspect that he can't eat or groom himself because of the problems with his tongue and jaw.
Worst thing is, I'm poor and don't have the money to really take him to a vet or get some kind of surgery done on his jaw. Would getting him fixed cost much money? Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could try and feed him? I would appreciate any suggestions here. I've never browsed /an/, so forgive me if I'm doing something wrong or stupid.
Guinea pig with diarrhea
Got half dozen guinea pigs. Menu is hay/pellets/vegetables to all.
Abyssinian 5 year old male eats tomatoes and cucumbers and gets diarrhea. WTF???
Began a couple of months ago and first time he almost died of severe dehydration…
Today I directly linked veggies with diarrhea and changed his menu to fix the problem.
But still don't understand… why only that one gets sick?
I have a cichlid fish given to me by a coworker who wanted his cichlids out of his community tank for obvious reasons.
He gave me two, now I have one.
He's great - really curious and friendly and intelligent as fuck for a fish.
His tank is decked out just the way he likes it and he's glorious and happy and colorful and healthy.
What else can I do to make the little guy happy?
He's alone in the tank right now.
Would he enjoy a pretty female companion?
Or would he just get sexually frustrated if she doesn't want to mate and beat the shit out of her? I've heard of that happening.
Or would I end up with a million baby cichlids?
Is there any way to have a mated pair but prevent them from successfully making babies?
Also would he enjoy having some agile, hyperactive top-tank dwellers to chase around?
I don't want him to get bored or lonely. And whatever other fish I put in the tank, I want him to remain the alpha dominant fish.
Was thinking about rummynose tetras, or tiger barbs, if I do get more fish for him. Suggestions would be appreciated - the fish will just have to be a species that are faster than the cichlid, naturally hyperactive so they won't get stressed if he chases them, and have compact fins so they won't be too badly damaged if he manages to nip them a bit. Howdy faggots, I'm about to get a ball python. My room is always kept 70-80 degrees (day & night), and the cage is big enough (10.5x24 and probably about 18 tall, inches btw) IF I'm able to let it out occasionally, which I can absolutely do.
A lot of people on python-specific forums mention having a heat pad that covers no more than half the tanks length, while no less than a third, with a "proportional thermostat"
(basically something that regulates the heat pads power output so it always keep it at an exact temp), along with a thermometer with a probe to observe the temperature of the warm AND cool side of the tank, since they need a warm and cool area.
Basically, I'm just wondering if all that's really necessary, and if so, what brands would YOU recommend?
I'm continuing my research atm, just want some sort of live feed back. I didn't see any reptile threads so maybe I'm in the wrong place, but thanks anyway fellas :)
Hello anon, let's talk animal rights. More specifically, let's talk about better treatment and a better quality of life for our dogs.
We should address the problem of pet overpopulation with more humane methods of sterilization such as vasectomy and tubal ligation for dogs instead of spaying/neutering.
Dogs sterilized with vasectomy or partial hysterectomy remain hormonally natural, which allows them to live more natural and fulfilling lives. This is much more humane than spaying/neutering.

I'm going to be moving from a tropical climate to a climate that gets cold and I want to be prepared with knowledge (and gear if needed) for my dog so she can be comfy. I'll be going to a state that can get down to the 30s in the winter.
All I'm looking for is cold weather tips for dogs who aren't accustomed to it. Will I need a coat or boots? If you think I will need a coat or boots, could you recommend me something? I do plan on taking her with me on trails and hiking.
Anything will help. I could really use the advice so I can plan ahead of time.
As a side note, my dog is medium sized short haired mutt.
Predatory Animal Identification?
Yo /an/, I don't normally post on this board, but I feel like you guys would be qualified to answer. Could you help me ID a predator I saw in my backyard? I live in Southern NH, and the temperature is starting to drop, if that helps.
I was going outside about 10PM to check on my quail, when I shone my flashlight into the woods about 35-40 yards away. I saw a light, and when I shone my light on it more, I saw two. I called out to it, thinking it might be my dog. I doubted it, since my dog's eye shine is more whitish, this animal had a more red glare to it. It turned tail and ran, and looked sort of gray-ish, and looked like it had a tail. It might have just been a leg, but I am unsure. I am fairly certain it is a cat of some sort, maybe a bobcat, but those guys are smaller than what I saw. It moved way too fast and was too big to be a coon or a porcupine.
I have heard reports of a mountain lion in my town, and have seen scat that resembles that of a mountain lion in the woods. The scat could easily just be raccoon or bobcat, but I have seen actual, fresh, mountain lion scat when I was in New Mexico that looked similar. But, I know I am in the wrong area to have one of those around.
Anyone here know, it definitely spooped me out, so some details might be off.
What's the biggest/baddest animal you anon's think you could fight? Setting is wherever the animal is on the first image you get on google. Just assume the animal is pissed off and wan't to get you. Pic related-The biggest animal I think I could take and the field I have to fight it in.
