A meme is like the ultimate cluster munition. No blood loss, no damage to property, the only thing a meme can destroy is a narrative. Unlike a cluster munition a meme can impact thousands in moments but have a residual effect whereby other minds encounter the meme later. Lawrence Kohlberg's theory holds that moral reasoning, a necessary but insufficient condition for ethical behavior, has six developmental stages, each more adequate at responding to moral dilemmas than its predecessor. His six stages of moral development elaborate upon psychologist Jean Piaget's theory of child development. In Kohlberg's view, the process of moral development principally concerns "justice". This psychological theory has philosophical implications.

Since part of our mission is to reeducate society on moral and ethical values that have become partially degraded or lost, we need to educate ourselves too, and figure out how to talk about morality to folks who may initially have no grasp of the ideas.

Wanted to write about Principled Leadership and Moral Authority. The problem is that a Kohlberg stage 6 argument about morality would probably fly past many heads, making no impact.

So here is what I was starting to assemble as potential ingredients for an article. But got derailed when considering how to refute moral relativism in a normie-digestible way. Because I would make a stage 6 argument.

The article concept is basically that a longtime, continuous adherence to truth can put someone into a position to be a credible authority. That's moral authority. It's not something someone (a church!) claims to have. Rather, it's a type of authority that is conferred on a leader by followers who see the leader as principled and truthful. And being perceived as truthful just a few times does not get it. To develop that much trustworthiness takes sustained, uninterrupted embrace of truth with few or no departures from it.

Truth is what we try to do here. Truth is how we shine the light. So I kind of wanted to show how truth-telling is a litmus paper that can sort the wheat from the chaff. Wanted to remind myself why truth is so very important.

Just a sketch, a partial outline.

Moral authority is authority based on fundamental truths that are independent of society's laws.

Without a steady adherence to truth, there can be no moral authority.

Moral authority and truth go hand in hand.

"Children who go to college are told by professors, many of whom may be the age of their parents, about ‘moral relativism,’ which is the belief that all cultures and all moral codes are equal (except Western Culture and the moral code around it – which they are taught to revile), and that we are free to choose whatever moral code we wish. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration waded cautiously Friday into international efforts to halt fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which are engaged in their worst conflict in more than 25 years.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met separately in Washington with the foreign ministers of both countries in a bid to promote a cease-fire in hostilities over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh. The State Department said Pompeo had emphasized to Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov the need “to end the violence and protect civilians.”

“Both must implement a ceasefire and return to substantive negotiations,” Pompeo said in a tweet after his talks.

Friday’s meetings followed failed Russian-led attempts to broker a truce and lower-profile U.S. intervention to promote an end to the fighting. U.S. officials, including Pompeo’s deputy, Stephen Biegun, have appealed for the countries to return to a dialogue over the territory.

Meanwhile, heavy fighting raged over Nagorno-Karabakh even as the discussions in Washington were taking place. The two sides traded accusations involving the shelling of residential areas, and authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh said the town of Martakert and several villages in the Martuni region were struck by Azerbaijani rockets.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry denied the claim and accused Armenian forces of targeting the Terter, Agdam and Agjabedi regions of Azerbaijan overnight.

Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E. Biegun on October 24, 2020 and reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to implement and abide by the humanitarian ceasefire agreed in Moscow on October 10, which were reaffirmed in the statement issued from Paris on October 17, in accordance with the October 1, 2020 joint statement of United States President Donald J. Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The humanitarian ceasefire will take effect at 08:00 a.m. local time (12:00 a.m. EDT) on October 26, 2020. No peace again: Nagorno-Karabakh warring parties trade accusations of violating US-brokered ceasefire

Armenia and Azerbaijan have accused each other of violating the truce in Nagorno-Karabakh with heavy artillery fire. The reports of renewed hostilities came after a new attempt to reach a ceasefire was announced in Washington.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that Armenian forces had “violated the new humanitarian ceasefire” on Monday by shelling its positions in several locations.

The statement came just minutes after a new ceasefire – a third one agreed for now – was supposed to take effect at 8am local time. It was announced in Washington after Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, met the US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun.

Meanwhile, the army of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic denied the accusations by the Azerbaijani side. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on social media that his country is observing the ceasefire.

At the same time, the spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry, Shushan Stepanyan, said that Azerbaijani artillery began firing at the positions of the Yerevan-backed Nagorno-Karabakh forces “grossly violating the ceasefire agreement.” Azerbaijan, in turn, insisted it is following the truce.

Azerbaijan Claims It Assassinated Defense Minister Of Nagorno-Karabakh, While Armenia Captures Syrian Militants In Combat Zone (Videos, Map)

The US-sponsored ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh collapsed. So, Armenia and Azerbaijan continue pound each other and make victoriuos statements.

On October 27, Azerbaijani sources released the video allegedly showing the assassination of Lieutenant General Jalal Harutyunyan in a drone strikes in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Azerbaijani sources claim that he was killed. These reports were denied by the Armenian side.

“This is the second time the Azerbaijani press has been spreading false information about Jalal Harutyunyan – he allegedly died. I must say right away that nothing threatens Mr. Harutyunyan’s life, and the wound he received in one of the combat positions, fortunately, is not serious, and very soon he will return to the army,” Vahram Poghosyan, a spokesperson of the Republic of Artsakh Pesident, said.

Nonetheless, the Karabakh leadership appointed Mikael Arzumanyan a new defense minister of the self-proclaimed republic. While Armenian sources say that Harutyunyan will soon return to the army, this move indicates that the situation is more complicated that they want to admit.

On October 27 evening, the Armenian Defense Ministry released a map showing their version of the situation in the contested region. Even according to this map, Armenian forces lost almost the entire south of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani forces are close to the Lachin corridor, a vital supply route from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh. An interesting fact is that the Armenians still claim that the town of Hadrut is in their hands. According to them, small ‘enemy units’ reach the town, make photos and then run away.

Last week, a Senate Intelligence Committee report detailed how the son of a major presidential candidate, who has an extensive history of shady foreign business dealings, received a $3.5-million wire transfer from the wife of a Russian politician. The New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, and most major media outlets didn’t cover the wire-transfer story at all. Four years ago, not reporting such a story was a possibility too absurd to even contemplate – but then again, no one would have predicted the candidate with the shady Russia ties is not Donald Trump, but Joe Biden.

People often talk about how Trump is responsible for destroying political norms, and that’s a valid concern. However, one of the truly frightening things about the Trump era is how institutions have exploited a perceived crisis in truth-telling to justify abandoning their own standards by blaming it on Trump. Increasingly, we see major stories break where the media establishment decides on a collective omertà because the story undermines its own credibility or might sway voters in directions it doesn’t approve of. When that happens, no news is good news.

The problem with hiding the truth is that you can’t suppress it forever, let alone a week, in this news environment. After the initial blackout, we are finally starting to see some coverage of Hunter Biden’s suspect wire transfer – but only after Trump himself raised the issue in the recent presidential debate and forced the media’s hand. The little coverage the issue has received is instructive, and not in a good way.

Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden flatly denied at Tuesday night’s debate that his lawyer son took huge sums of money from corrupt oligarchs and Chinese communists during his vice presidency, but Treasury Department reports show that Hunter Biden did receive the money.

President Trump chose to make an issue of Hunter Biden’s cash haul from Russia, Ukraine and China with the implication that unsavory figures were trying to buy Vice President Biden and the Obama administration.

“When somebody gets 3½ million dollars from the mayor of Moscow,” Mr. Trump said.

“That’s is not true. That report is totally false,” Mr. Biden said.

A Senate Republican report by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee says Mr. Trump is right, though it was not Moscow’s mayor, but his wife, whom the U.S. suspects of corruption in attaining billionaire status.

Hunter Biden received a single wire transfer of $3.5 million from Elena Baturina. The Senate report said she became a billionaire through illegal construction contracts awarded by her husband, since deceased.

This is based on Treasury Department reports received by committee Chairman Ron Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican.

Xi Says War Must Be Fought To Deter Invaders, "Violence Met With Violence" Necessary

Chinese state media is widely circulating a new bellicose statement from President Xi Jinping made on a key Korean War anniversary for Beijing. The quote is going viral following the US presidential debate between Trump and Biden where both were asked how they would "stand up" to the China threat.

Xi is reported to have said "war must be fought to deter invasion, and violence must be met by violence" in what's possibly his most openly jingoistic statement targeting the US to date, though without specifically referencing the United States or any external enemy in particular. But given China fought against the US side in the Korean War, the implications are clear.

According to the Global Times the statement which is also meant to show support to the Chinese PLA military is going viral through social and other media.

"It's necessary to speak to invaders in the language they know: that is, a war must be fought to deter invasion, and violence must be met by violence," Xi said according to the full quote.

"Victory is needed to win peace and respect. China will never cower before threats, or be subdued by suppression," the Chinese president added.

The "patriotic" statement is now widely circulating in Chinese state publications, including the major People's Daily. It was issued on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of China entering the Korean War to fight American troops there.

It also comes a day after the US once again went on the offensive against Chinese state-linked media, adding six more of its media organizations operating in the US to the State Department's designated list of "foreign missions".

Beijing is said to be preparing its own 'retaliatory' action. The number of Chinese outlets which must register in the US as arms of a foreign government is now at 15, as the tit-for-tat with the Trump administration rages on.

The USCG continues to modernize and enhance the capabilities of its fleet of major cutters, which play a prominent role in protecting our vital national interests, and where appropriate, those of our partners in the region. To that end, the USCG is strategically homeporting significantly enhanced Fast Response Cutters, built in a proven Louisiana-based shipyard, in the western Pacific. The new generation of Fast Response Cutters will conduct maritime security missions, such as fisheries patrols, enhance maritime domain awareness and enforcement efforts in collaboration with regional partners who have limited offshore surveillance and enforcement capacity, and ensure freedom of navigation.

In an effort to bolster our capacity and presence in the Indo-Pacific region, in Fiscal Year 2021, the USCG plans to evaluate the feasibility of basing Fast Response Cutters in American Samoa. If the survey is favorable, the United States could further expand its presence in the South Pacific.

Enhancing the presence of the USCG in the Indo-Pacific ensures the United States will remain the maritime partner of choice in the region.

Four B-1B Lancer bombers and 200 airmen from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas arrived at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam Tuesday for a bomber task force mission, Pacific Air Forces said in a release.

The bombers and airmen, with Dyess' 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, were sent to Guam to support PACAF’s training missions with allies, partner forces and joint forces such as the U.S. Navy.

This represents the latest in a string of near-monthly B-1 bomber task force rotations to Guam since the Air Force ended the continuous bomber presence in April.

“Every bomber task force is important because they accomplish both tactical and strategic objectives,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Stallsworth, the squadron’s commander. “As we conduct training operations, we are able to increase our bomber force lethality, readiness and experience across the force. It also demonstrates the Department of Defense’s ability to operate in an agile fashion to the world.”

Some Dot Com companies were extraordinarily overvalued (in the sense of stock market parlance). They had virtually zero earnings. Their debt-to-equity (D/E) ratio was sky-high and their earnings per share (EPS) was negligible. The ridiculous valuations made no sense whatsoever, in terms of concrete investment metrics. Yet their stock price kept levitating as hot money rushed into the new sector in a speculative frenzy, creating a bubble that kept inflating. Stock market commentary hyping the potential of these companies was everywhere.

The bubble was deliberately created and its entire trajectory planned. It enabled certain insiders to cash out, instant trillionaires. More importantly, it enabled certain individuals and organizations to secure present and future control (utter domination) over a key communications sector. This is especially interesting in light of the known and proven government funding that provided seed capital and promoted the expansion of dozens of key companies in the telecomm sector (think In-Q-Tel, LifeLog,…) Who knows which 3-letter agencies are still entrenched there, burrowed in deeply like a blood-sucking tick and lurking in the shadows while subtly exerting control?

With President Trump's May 28, 2020 executive order declaring internet companies as "publishers" (Section 230) when they use their extraordinary powers to regulate speech and inject their own editorial bias by suppressing conservative speech, we are now seeing the next phase of information warfare play out.

The stranglehold that companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc. had over information flows played a huge role in political victories by the Radical Left, that resulted in the presidency of Barack Obama and the continued domination by leftist governors, left-controlled House of Representatives, etc.

Every major company updated their infrastructure at the same time based on the over-hyped threat of a date format change. All of that simultaneous spending allowed new tech companies to show projected revenue in an attempt to justify valuations.

It also allowed systems within an industry to be updated in lock step which was really convenient for things like price fixing.

Project Veritas Strikes Again: Google Ad Manager Caught on Camera Admitting They Can Offer FREE Advertising Credits to Democrats, Censor Republicans

Project Veritas has dropped another explosive video, this time featuring a Google Ad manager admitting to various ways they could potentially interfere with a free and fair election.

Google Marketing technical account manager Adriano Amaduzzi was caught on camera saying that the big tech giant could meddle “censor out news from your search engine” … “or actually stopping right-wing parties from advertising.”

“You can offer free credits, free advertising credits, to Democratic parties for advertising,” said Amaduzzi.

Amaduzzi also acknowledged that Google’s Trust and Safety staffers are “extreme left” and could get involved in the election.

“Yeah, by stopping Presi–, or actually stopping right-wing parties from advertising,” Amaduzzi said.

Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe said in a statement that Amaduzzi’s statements are consistent with censorship conservatives have faced in the lead up to the election.

“Recently we’ve seen censorship of free thought and stories from the Big Tech giants. Many believe this kind of editorial suppression will affect the upcoming election,” O’Keefe said. “But it seems the biggest tech giant of them all– Google- may have other ways to impact the election–this time coming from their ad sales division overseas.”

Amaduzzi also admitted to ignoring requests from pro-Brexit ads.

“Funny enough about Brexit, I had a guy, linked to, me, for no reason –, I don’t know why, contacted me from LinkedIn and say: ‘Hi I’m head of digital infrastructure of the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom, we would like to do advertising with Google, could you help me with that?’ I was like—I didn’t answer,” Amaduzzi said.

Department Files Complaint Against Google to Restore Competition in Search and Search Advertising Markets

Today, the Department of Justice — along with eleven state Attorneys General — filed a civil antitrust lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to stop Google from unlawfully maintaining monopolies through anticompetitive and exclusionary practices in the search and search advertising markets and to remedy the competitive harms. The participating state Attorneys General offices represent Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas.

“Today, millions of Americans rely on the Internet and online platforms for their daily lives. Competition in this industry is vitally important, which is why today’s challenge against Google — the gatekeeper of the Internet — for violating antitrust laws is a monumental case both for the Department of Justice and for the American people,” said Attorney General William Barr. “Since my confirmation, I have prioritized the Department’s review of online market-leading platforms to ensure that our technology industries remain competitive. This lawsuit strikes at the heart of Google’s grip over the internet for millions of American consumers, advertisers, small businesses and entrepreneurs beholden to an unlawful monopolist.”

FACT: Biden and Harris have both publicly opposed Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court, despite glowing reviews from the legal community and her colleagues.

Biden put out a statement in opposition to Judge Barrett’s nomination.

Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, tweeted that she strongly opposed Judge Barrett’s nomination.

BIDEN: “There’s a hundred million people with preexisting conditions and [their insurance will] be taken away as well.”

FACT: Biden’s claim has been called “misleading,” and President Trump has said he will always protect Americans with pre-existing conditions.

Just last week, President Trump signed an Executive Order making it the official policy of the federal government to protect those with pre-existing conditions.

BIDEN: “So the thing that should happen is we should wait. We should wait and see what the outcome of this election is, because that is the only way the American people get to express their view, who they elect as president and who they elect as Vice President.”

FACT: History is on the side of filling the Supreme Court vacancy now, and Joe Biden previously said the President had an obligation to name a nominee, even in an election year.

There have been 29 prior Supreme Court vacancies in American history during a Presidential election year, and in all cases, the President nominated a Justice.

17 out of 19 times the Senate has confirmed the President’s Supreme Court nominee in an election year when the President’s party controls the Senate as it does today.

In 2016, Biden said that he supported confirming a Supreme Court Justice in an election year “even a few months before a presidential election.”

Biden in 2016: “In my view, [Senators] are required to give the nominee a hearing and a vote.”

Joe Biden – along with his amen chorus in the press – keeps insisting that he and President Barack Obama handed Donald Trump a booming economy when they left office in 2016.

“We left a booming economy, ” Biden said during the first presidential debate, “and he caused the recession.” Debate moderator Chris Wallace jumped in to help Biden, adding that job growth was faster in the last three years of Obama’s term than the first three of Trump’s.

One is a flat out lie, the other a clever deception.

After presiding over the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression, Obama and Biden left office with the economy stalling out, leading experts to warn that the nation was facing “secular stagnation.”

Look at the numbers. GDP growth sharply decelerated in 2016, falling from 3.1% the year before down 1.7% in 2016 – the second-worst year under Obama/Biden after the recession ended and the third year of below 2% growth on their watch.

Other indicators were equally distressing. Small business optimism had been on the decline before the November 2016 election. Business investment was stagnant. The rate of growth in blue-collar jobs was falling.

In Obama’s last year, the unemployment rate remained basically unchanged — it was 4.9% in Jan 2016, and 4.8% when Trump took office in Jan. 2017.

Real median family income didn’t budge from August 2015 to November 2016, according to Sentier Research.

The stock market had been flat for more than a year.

For decades, India has feared a multi-front war with China and Pakistan. By modernizing its military, along with investments in nuclear weapons and hypersonic missiles, New Delhi could be on a pathway to deter or manage conflict with either one of its nuclear-armed neighbors.

In what appears to be the second hypersonic missile test in weeks, India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed nuclear-capable hypersonic missile dubbed "Shaurya," defense sources told Hindustan Times.

"The surface-to-surface tactical missile was blasted off from a canister strapped to the ground launcher from launch complex 4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in the APJ Abdul Kalam Island around 12.10 pm and covered the desired range," the source said.

The state-of-the-art missile, with speeds of March 7.5 (5,754 mph), was able to conduct a "maneuver" at the "closing stages of its flight before striking a predefined target in the Bay of Bengal.

A Defence Research and Development Organisation official said Shaurya is one of the top ten missiles in the world "with high-performance navigation and guidance systems, efficient propulsion systems, sophisticated control technologies and canisterised launch."

The missile can be launched from canisters mounted on a truck or from missile silos buried deep underground. The source said the missile could easily be transported by truck, allowing the mobile platform to continually be moved and making it harder for China or Pakistan to detect them with satellite imaging.
