Tokimeki Tonight is a 34-episode hidden gem 1982 anime manga adaptation of the shoujo genre with supernatural elements. It features a love triangle, a very nice art style that's a product of its time, an extremely cute protagonist girl, and a top-tier ara mother among other things.
It's famous for its lewd ending song, and the manga itself has never been translated, although scans are available.
Recently, raws from Netflix Japan have popped up, and they're not too far behind a Discotek Blu-Ray on image quality. That's a godsend, specially because the previous releases of this series look terrible.
We're in the process of retiming and correcting existing subtitles for this series.
The subtitles are a bit of a mess and the whole story on them is not completely clear, it appears the series was dropped by Saitei on episode 27, but a group called Orphan seems to have completed the remaining episodes. Saitei also burned in their subtitles, which is why an user named Kuro remade them in ASS.
At this very moment, 5 episodes have been completed, and every episode has had the minimum required style/filename/resolution/opening fixes required applied. If you want to join in, read the README.txt file inside the tarball, it contains instructions and a list of work needed, aswell as the subtitles being worked on. New versions of this tar file will be posted further into the thread as they come up.

It's silly to have subtitles for onomatopoeiae when they're the same thing. I'm taking the subtitles out when that happens from now on.
I stopped watching the series around episode 5 because watching what I just timed subtitles for is awful, I'll rewatch the first few episodes and then the rest of the series and QC all of them once all 34 episodes are done. But any input is welcome.

I have something unexpected.
There's a random guy in an anime tracker who claims to be working on this. I have no idea how his adaptation of the subtitles is going, but he appears to have started about a week ago.
Maybe his project is better than this one or maybe it isn't, I think so far adapting the subtitles has been perfect except for the sign I failed to make motion vectors for and the series is nearly halfway done, so I believe I wouldn't be switching to his effort. I see 3 ways of going about this:

>Do something which could be interpreted as shady and privately exchange text messages without telling him about this thread. I'll invite him to do episodes if he wants and tell him that every episode will be publically available as soon as it's done, I just won't tell him about 8kun. Maybe he could still end up finding us by looking for where the subtitles are going. All I really care about is making the best subtitles for the series most easily.

Apparently the manga of this is extremely long and covers 3 generations of Ranze's family.
It has never been translated. I'd be up for doing what I can about that after the anime but while timing and doing simple effects for existing subtitles was easy to pick up in a day because I already knew everything around it, I barely even know my way around an image editor.

I didn't notice, but episode 17 marked the series being 50% done. With episode 18 it's 53% done.
The other guy left the chat with apparently some work done but nothing finished and handed off to me, I don't think he's coming back.
One thing he suggested and worked on that is worth looking into is inserting chapters and embedding fonts. I originally intended to release this as loose subtitles with a Helvetica clone font that will have the same or similar metrics as system default fonts everywhere and possibly already be installed on the user's system, but doing that might be better.
It'll require inserting metadata into the [DragsterPS] raws which will mean blowing up the release from a few kilobytes of subtitles to 80GBs of video+audio+subtitles, which matters because of my shit upload speed. I'll leave it for last if I do it.
Episode 18 is done. Seems they've been changing the aesthetic of the series a bit, with less stylized backgrounds and always fully coloring city. But I liked the purple/pink colors they were using. Or maybe I'm retarded and the pink/purple was just for night scenes.

The EAC log says it was ripped in 2015, while the accurip log is dated 30 of January 2020.
The .cue sheet is broken, it says all tracks have the index number 01 and start at 00:00:00. Yet the log and the perfect split of the files indicate a functioning TOC so something went wrong while making the .cue sheet.
The release is shady, it might have been tampered with. I wouldn't consider it an improvement over a logless upload on nyaa.
Other than that, this rip has never been previously uploaded on AB, wasn't on RED, Orpheus, U2, rutracker, JPS, wouldn't come up on general and file searches on multiple searx instances, wouldn't come up on torrent dht searches, wouldn't come up on an IPFS search, and while I believe I saw the series mentioned on ffshrine from a cached search result that's now gone I didn't get to download a possible rip and see it for myself.
Unless the original ripper has been waiting for the 2064th birthday of Julius Caesar's murder to upload his clumsy rip of the CD on AB, there's a hard to find place sharing rare anime music and I want to know where it is.
