I haven't really been drawing for almost 10 years and I haven't done any digital drawing at all, but I was thinking of getting into it. Is this a reasonable place to start for the pricerange? I can't really see myself enjoying it with a much smaller screen so this is one of the cheaper ones at that size but the quality seems reasonable from my looking around?

Is your drawing any good? If you've mastered the fundamentals of drawing, then transitioning to Digital isn't a big deal. It's just the matter of getting used to the digital medium. All i can say is that the digital medium is much more flexible than traditional, but it takes 'some' drawing aspects out of your hands so to speak.

Holy fucking shit that looks expensive, but it's XP-pen so it might be cheaper then Wacom. Honestly, i don't use those screen tablets mainly because i'm poor so i make do with normal drawing tablets. It's less of a hassle to carry too, and it's more sturdy than those iirc. I move around alot so non-screen drawing tablets for me.
If you're doing this as a hobby, then start off with the cheap ones. Once you've decided that you really want to continue this drawfaggery, move up into the higher price range stuff. It took me a few years of high school to get me own drawing tablet.

Well I'm probably pretty rusty period so I'm likely not good now. I used to pretty good at still lifes and portraits, and alright at landscapes. Perspective and shading came along pretty well. But I didn't spend a lot of time seriously trying to draw stuff that I wasn't looking at beyond doodles and cartoons.
I guess there'd be a steep curve anyways so I might as well start doing something slightly new altogether while I'm at it. I've been writing a little bit and I was thinking I'd like to start drawing a little bit to go along with that, but drawing some /a/ fanart and stuff would be fun as well.

Yeah it's significantly cheaper than Wacom, this is like $400 whereas the previous-gen Wacom at a similar size is like over 1500. At that price even if it just sits on my desk as an extra monitor and I touch up low-effort memes with it instead of a mouse I wouldn't be upset, so I'm not really worried about not sticking with and regretting it. Mainly asking about specific hardware recs.

Life drawing and portraits are good drawing fundamentals, so i believe that you're pretty much mastered it. The rusty period can be shaken off with some practice, and it shouldn't take a long time to re-gain your skills back, provided that you've kept the knowledge intact. I mean a decade of vacuum is along fucking time, but i wouldn't worry about it though.
