Here's the rundown:
Why Pardon?These folks were involved in peaceful civil disobedience, similar to historical civil rights protests. The Biden DOJ charged them with serious felonies, which goes against the original legislative intent which was supposed to treat such acts as minor misdemeanors.
Legal Overreach:The letter argues that the Biden DOJ misused laws meant for violent acts against these peaceful protesters, ignoring the context set by recent Supreme Court decisions like Fischer v. U.S., which calls for a narrow interpretation of laws to avoid overly broad applications.
Post-Dobbs Context:With the Dobbs decision, the rationale for the FACE Act (protecting abortion access) is now obsolete, making its enforcement against these advocates even more questionable.
Selective Enforcement:While pro-life advocates faced harsh prosecution, Biden’s prosecutors almost entirely ignored over 170 other incididents, including the firebombing and vandalism of hundreds of pro-life churches and pregnancy centers, they viciously pursued pro-life Americans, obtaining convictions against them under the federal “FACE Act” (18 U.S.C. § 248) and the Ku Klux Klan Act’s “Conspiracy Against Rights” felony provisions (18 U.S.C. § 241).
Fair Trial Issues:In D.C., the jury selection was biased against pro-life individuals, and crucial evidence was withheld from the jury.
