The story is incomplete. You have to read the novelization to get the full story which somehow makes it worse. The Rey and Kylo kiss was platonic so that got the reylos mad. Palpatine was a clone and Rey's dad was a failed palpatine clone (even though he produced Rey which is arguably the most powerful force user in the galaxy). Also, Luke consented to have Rey take all his stuff at the end of the film. There's likely more that wasn't leaked already and will come out in 2 more days.

Does it detail what Rey will be doing and have been doing for a living since after she was taken from the scrap planet? She's not a leader of any faction like Leia was, or a smuggler like Han was, nor does she seem likely to live the life of a hermit like Luke did. How does she get credits? Borrowing from a Hut maybe? Other ways? (pic related lol)
One might not think about it much, but these small details made sense in both the OT and the prequels. Not that Lucas truly went into complete /tg/ tier autism by detailing their wages and shit, but it wasn't as dumb as in the Disney trilogy.

I found it infinitely more enjoyable that I did with TLJ, because if you go in with the mindset that Star Wars is dead and not taking it seriously at all it's probably the funniest movie I saw last year. It's so over-the-top ridiculous in everything it does it could easily be rewritten as Spaceballs 2.
