So is there really a toy/collectors fatigue going on? Was the death of Toys R Us a sign of the end times for /toy/fags? I mean its not just here, but even 4/toy/ is cucked and dying.

I don't really see that. The toy community seems to be going strong. Although this is conjecture, I'd actually say that the toy community is increasing due to the rise in the popularity of "nerd culture". Serious toy collectors also seem more concerned about the quality of goods, and are far more vocal than in the past - almost every general on 4/toy/ has at least one anon complaining about the quality of a product

From what I've been seeing on the 4 version of /toy/, QC is going down the crapper for some of the established manufacturers which is causing some collectors to give up or take a step back
There's also the problem of every company trying to jump at the same properties, with more varied and unique toys being fewer and not getting much attention
On a lesser note, the culture of the place is pretty grating too. Maybe I'm being petty but seeing so many Facebook-tier memes and lingo being used just wears me down. And there's entire generals populated by literal kids/toddlers too like dinosaur toys general.
It's a shame the 8chan version is so dead

I know what you mean, some properties whore themselves out to anyone interested, leading to a flood of cheaply made toys available on the market. I find the only toys that are ever stocked in toy aisles these days are Star Wars and Marvel.

Not for longer, hopefully. I'm a new BO and intend to revive /toy/. I haven't been that active the past few days but I will start recruiting on places.

Nice! I hope you can do so! Half chan /toy/ moderation is absolute shit, would you want me to sort of advertise there the revival of 8chan /toy/? I know the board there have quite a few retards, but they're also great anons there as well.

I'm fine with people advertising the place wherever it is relevant, as long as they don't spam links. Be careful advertising on 4/toy/ though, I know that Hiro has blocked people from posting links to 8chan and I'm not sure if he or the mods will ban you if you outright advertise there. This thread cropped up and I did offer us as an alternative, but there isn't much interest in coming over: http://boards.4channel.org/toy/thread/7659957#p7660596

Thanks for the info, I checked it out and gave support to your post. Hopefully it will encourage anons to come here.
I did try once to link to some 8chan page, it just said the system thinks that post is a spam and didn't enable to post.
>if you outright advertise there
Hah! We have like for fucking year some youtuber faggot who keep spamming his shitty channel and our useless mods do nothing. Don't worry, I won't bluntly spam the board and only bring it out when it's relevant.

I appreciate that, thanks.
>youtuber faggot
Mods on 4chan in general are pretty selective and biased, as long as it fits Hiro's agenda they'll enforce it. I can see them banning anyone who criticises 4chan moderation (its an actual rule now, which is worrying) and advertising better alternatives to 4chan. It's probably why that guy can spam his youtube account and get away with it but posting an 8chan link is blocked. If worst comes to worst, we'll have to advertise elsewhere. I can't think of any other imageboard to advertise on though, or other boards here.

Toy s R Us still operates in Asia because they have good toys. The west has no good toys.

Not exactly, but the hobby is definitely not what it used to be; the rise in prices alongside the downgrade in quality, variety and poor distribution takes it's toll.
TRU stil exists in my country but it sort of died long before the USA brench bankruptcy as all the big stores got closed and even before that the variety started to suck.
