What are some tropes you've noticed in tickling stories that you really hate or really like? I'll list some of mine to start things off.
Hate:
-Ler uses some kind of drug or skin lotion to make their victim way more ticklish than they normally are. I want the person getting tickled to surrender because they are naturally extremely ticklish, without the tickler going completely overboard. For the same reason I also don't like those stories where characters get tickled for a ridiculous amount of time or they get tickled all over their body simultaneously.
-I don't like when a character is extremely ticklish on every spot of their body. I prefer that there is a difference in reaction between spots, and the character has only one specific spot that makes them completely hysterical. Because of that I really like to read character profiles that talk about ticklish spots, weaknesses, etc.
Love
-Characters which are normally powerful but get taken down easily when they are tickled. Goddesses, warriors, ninjas and stuck up princesses are some of my favorites.
-I don't see this one a lot but I love it when two characters are taking a bath together and they tickle each other on purpose as they're scrubbing their bodies.
-Absolute favorite scenario is tickle battles. Most tickle stories are about a tied up character getting tortured. I think it's really hot when someone has the opportunity to escape, but they are too ticklish to take it. It's also great when the person initially winning gets cocky and when the tables get turned they start begging. Writing.com has a bunch of fantasy tickling stories with scenarios like that, but it's been almost unusable for a while and no good chapters have been added in forever.

IDK if it counts as a trope, but i love this concept and I wish it was used more than the one thing i've ever really seen it in, which is the origin of it.
as for something I don't like, It's worlds that are built around tickling rather than it just being an incidental thing that happens to the character. It's not always a huge dealbreaker, but I like it a lot more when the character isn't so used to/familiar with the concept being used.
It's especially nice when it's used in place of some more explicitly erotic elements. It's like a nice treat you find on accident rather than a really bland meal you're expecting.

I think "gets tickled all over their body simultaneously" is fine if the story/piece builds to it; otherwise I agree it's a bit boring.
Anyway, my favourite is (especially in tickling games) is the heroine/group being captured and subjected to tickling interrogation. I love interrogation in general, but especially the thought of having lost and being subjected to it makes me more diamonds for some reason. I like both variants - heroine trying to hold information she has or heroine desperate because she doesn't have info to give but villains don't believe her.
It's sad most games don't capitalize on it as well as they should. Lala's Ordeal 2 for example begun In Media Res with the characters captured by the main villainess and I was all "ooooh boy the game will be a flashback of their confessions under harsh torture"… and instead they just blabber everything, the villainess leaves promising to tickle them later, and they escape.
JayaKun's recent game, Amirian Curse, also missed two great opportunities for this - in one, the heroines are captured when invading the city governed by a steampunk tyrant and taken to the dungeon… but again the villainess just leaves to torture them later and they escape.
And, most maddeningly, later they go to an elven city and are captured and sent for interrogation, the main character IS tickle-tortured… off-screen. The torture is just implied. I was so sad.

I'd have to sit and think about the stuff I love and things I hate, but I hope it's okay if I use this thread as an excuse to pick some anon's brains just to get an insight as to what people might prefer.
Here's a scene: Victim is bound and helpless and the interrogator is revealing they're going to tickle torture the victim. Do you prefer A. that the victim scoffs at it and either mocks it for being pathetic or is confident they can overcome it, or B. breaks down almost immediately because they know for a fact that they're too ticklish to handle it and the fact that this specific weakness is being exploited is a psychological nightmare? The end result is the same (bitch gets tickled until they talk), but the journey of how we get from "we have ways to making you talk" to "please I'll tell you anything" hits some different stops.
I can actually think of one thing that always sticks in my craw: The weird obsession some writers have with victims being tickled for very specific lengths of time. I'm a fan of fading out and letting time progress as you move to a different scene, but "then he tickled her feet with his feather for about five minutes" gives me the vibe of someone with a stopwatch making sure they don't overcook their lasagna.

I like a mix of both. The victim acts confident before the tickling starts, but they show signs of fear as the tickler approaches. When they're tickled they try to act tough and say they'll never give up the information in between laughs, but that only lasts for a short amount of time. They blurt out what the interrogator wanted to hear, but the torture doesn't stop, and then they start promising to reveal everything they know in exchange for mercy.

I don't mind these, but they are overused, for pretty obvious reasons.
Here's another trope I love: any sort of power play that happens because of the nature of the relationship between the 'lee and the 'ler. As an example, I like a queen or woman in power with a tickle kink that takes advantage of her position to fulfill her fantasies with subjects that can't do anything but indulge her because she's in complete control of their lives. And I like a reversal of that as well; say maybe a teacher who's usually very strict and who every student is afraid of, that gets kidnapped or whatever by a troublemaking teen that takes revenge on her by tickling her while taping her in order to extort her or something. There's a lot of pairings like that. I like the idea of a 'lee having no control over anything, the duration and intensity of the torture included, (if they're the submissive one in the relationship) or way less control than usual (if they're usually the domineering one).
I don't have tropes I dislike much tbh, but here's something I kinda hate that shows up every now and then: whenever the 'ler happens to be some character that has absolutely no sex appeal whatsoever or, even worse, is described as unattractive or gross. A common example is the Joker being used as a 'ler in pics featuring DC comics characters. Sure, maybe it's in character, but he's just fucking ugly. I don't mind tentacle monsters or creatures because they're usually impersonal enough I can just ignore them, but sometimes authors will go out of their way to describe a ler as an old hag with a rotten teeth and saggy tits or whatever, and it really takes me out of it. I mean, typically the 'ler is 50% of the characters involved in the ticking man, I'd prefer it if they were just as attractive as the 'lee but at the very least I'd like them to be reasonably good looking, so it isnt' distracting.

I was literally just thinking today about how so many gacha games want to empower you, so you're always put in a position of power and referred to with a title like Captain, or Master, or Doctor. I assume this is both to empower the player and also give them a power fantasy of having all these waifus at their beck and call.
But I'm submissive as shit, so a lot of my fantasies involve basically every single person who works for me just bursting into my office and mercilessly bullying me non-stop. It's one thing when the drop-dead ara-ara ladies are pushing you around, but when even the low-rank three-star "I'm a rookie but I try really hard!" basic units can put you in your place with a few good tickles, you're basically leader in name only, and I find that kinda hot.

Nah, I think it's simply the place it came from that rubs people the wrong way. If it had originated from pretty much any anime whatsoever, and specially if the villain being tickled happened to be female, that shit would be the absolute holy grail of tickling scenes, nay, episodes, ever. But instead we got it from Spongebob, and sexuallizing anything from it other than Sandy coough cough feels awkward, even if Manray himself has less of a cartoony physique. I'm sure it still happens, but not everybody is gonna go for it. The scene itself still makes me feel sort of uncomfortable now, even if it is kinda perfect in so many ways.

When it comes to details, I especially dislike kind of non-con scenarios where there is ultimately never any sense of actual predicament or danger, they are sure way to get an erection and then lose it. Other than that the stuff I'm not personally into is so broad it's easy to avoid.
I especially like
-Either strong or dignified ticklees, such as warrior women or posh high class ladies
-Supernatural themes
-Tickling machines, tickle monsters and such, all kinds of predicaments where ticklee is at mercy of tickler without emotions acting out on instinct or automation
-"Exploration gone ticklish"-scenarios, stuff like adventurer ending up tickle captives in dungeon, astronauts encountering alien tickle monsters, an archeologist falling into tickle trap in ancient ruins and so on
-Settings with imprisonment themes, such as clandestine tickle torture facilities, asylums, prisons and so on
-Multiple ticklees getting tickled together, LOTS of bonus points if there are special relationships between the ticklees, such as deep friendship or family bonds
Also got to agree with OP about tickle battles to some extent, I think it's a pity that so much of tickle fight content is playful stuff, though I really like the idea of loser getting imprisoned/enslaved/etc. so getting tied up and tortured comes later.

For me the best tickling scene would be the Caterpy one from dragonball if it was Android 18 or some other female character being tickled instead of Goku. Extremely powerful warrior that becomes helpless then tickled by a much weaker opponent. Loud, frantic laugher and begging for mercy. Large audience that's dying of second hand embarrassment to make things even more humiliating.

Is JayaKun Screamer? If it is, holy shit, the guy changed his style a lot.
The game is very barebones as it is in like, pre-alpha, but I liked it; the scenes that are ready have fully animated, detailed pixel-art visuals and the character designs are great.
The game itself is nothing to write home about, I cheated my way throubgh it, but I enjoyed it a lot and he is one of the few non-abusive patreon prices out there; I pirated the previous version but will pay for the next.

Here's a question for people: what kind of setting do you prefer for a tickling story, one that implicitly uses porn-logic to shoehorn tickling scenes into a world that otherwise runs on common sense or ones that actually make an effort to make an internally consistent narative explanation for the prevalence of tickling? I personally like the 'Human History of Tickling' angle. Plenty of comics do the shoehorn tickling scenarios in various time period in world history to comical effect or as a twist on old torture methods; cowboy vs indians, medieval and such. But I most prefer integration and reasoning as to why ticking is so prevalent in the world, like in Jai Sin's Hidden Histories. The reason more or less coming down to one thing: Lust. Plus his art, stories and scenarios are top notch imo.

I love the whole "world of [insert fetish]" concept. I think it's just because I'm generally a big fan of lore and world-building stuff in any fictional universe. It's sort of intriguing coming up with how a world based entirely on tickling or feet or something would work. Does everyone just have the fetish and it became a normal sexual expression? What does the world look like now that there's tickling everywhere? Public tickling for crimes? Full-length tickling scenes in place of sex scenes in movies? Real tickling machines used in police interrogations? Bonus if there's any lore on how the stuff became so prevalent in society in the first place.
I dunno the exact reason why I like this stuff, but it has something to do with the idea that the entire world is working against you; it's a fictional society that knows your fetish and is specifically designed to exploit it at any turn.
A lot of RPG Maker games do this (The To-Tickle List, Lala's Ordeal), and a couple stories (Cosmo_ac had one called 'Stocksvill' that was good) but are there any more examples? It seems like this kind of thing is sort of rare.

There was an interactive story on writing.com called The Facility which is pretty much exactly what you want. It got deleted, re-uploaded and then deleted again. I have two doc files, one of them is about 40 pages of just world-building for The Facility, and the second is the majority of the story but there are some parts missing (unfortunately some of the best parts).
My favorite scenario for a world centered around tickling is something like No Game No Life. The world functioned like a normal fantasy world but then all of the gods besides the goddess of tickling ended up destroying each other. As the only god left, she forbids all violence and all conflicts need to be resolved with tickling instead. Events like tickle tournaments and festivals are held in her honor and she regularly comes down to have her fun with her subjects.

Some more tropes that I really like:
- One of the person's feet gets stuck in a wall or gets teleported away like in that Zettai Karen Children scene and they are helpless to stop any tickling.
- Character has to hold something up or is trying to hold on to something and their armpits get tickled to make them let go.
- One of the characters is a giant compared to the other and the smaller one goes inside the other's clothes and starts tickling them.
- A character is in a situation where they get tickled and they need to hold back their reaction or the tickling gets worse. I like a setup similar to the Zelda picture where the character gets tickled on their armpits and if they bring their arms down it'll pull their foot up and they get tickled there as well. Another favorite is when a character is trying to hide and something starts tickling them so they have to try not to laugh.
-Two sisters or a mother and daughter are being tickled and the torturer starts comparing how ticklish they are. If it's a mother/daughter scenario, I prefer that the mother ends up being more ticklish than her daughter.
- When the character's hands are free to move and they just pound the ground instead of doing something to try to get away because it tickles too much for them to even think properly.

okay, i'll throw you one for size, because this is something i don't see often and it's what makes me cum gallons: game over scenarios/peril scenarios.
picture this, a girl has been kidnapped by some underground market that indulges in tickle activities and the like, and thus the gal is put on a cell to wait for her turn to get tickled, but she wants none of it, thus, she makes her way out of her cell, sneaking and hiding around corners and shadows trying her best, when suddenly WHAM! she gets found out! she puts her hands over her head as a sign of defeat but this only makes things worse as the guards tie her up and start tickling her while she's in this defeated state, and then she's either:
A) forced back into her cell after a good tickling, with the guards saying that next time she sneaks out they will have no mercy
B) the guards know that the guard is perky, thus, they inmediately throw her into the tickle pit
C) the guards know that the girl is going to keep trying to escape and thus need to punish her, so they send her into a chamber that is only used for the most important situations, a chamber that can tickle any spot in her body with multiple tools, and thus, she's stuck there hoping someone rescues her as every tickly spot in her body is exploited for maximum tingulation.

well, i myself wanted to work on a comic about it, but i've been all tied up with comissions so i really can't make any progress with it, but i wish i could spread the idea further.
