I've been there since 2017.
The anti-TKL mentality seeped from /tk/ seeped into the main server, prompting the creation of the soapbox. Everyone blamed the mods for every little thing they didn't like about the server, and they were all chased away cause people were hurting their feelings from the comfort of their anonymity.

It's worked in the past. You can literally check any discord server search database and find dozens of small ticklefag communities that run pretty smoothly. The issue here was I didn't have as much time as I'd thought I would to properly admin it and of the four people who were mods, only one was doing anything (and if you're out there, thank you for trying).

everyone blamed the mods for everything because they WERE what people were complaining about. at that time all the mods were part of a stupid clique along with the "popular artists" that everyone had to ass kiss or get completely ignored by everyone else. they wouldn't do their job properly, everyone in their little clique would break rules and get a verbal warning 70 times, but if you weren't one of the constant ass kissers, they'd be breathing down your neck for an excuse to ban/kick you. thankfully most of them left.
now they still have that same mentality some a few specific users constantly riling shit up and then acting like the victim when people reply, and the mods nor the stupid backseat mods still don't do shit about them. tkl is a shit hole, if you're there only go to the art channels to download art and leave. if you read more than 3 messages you'll just get angry at the retardation that is constantly going on there, especially the pity one-upping in venting, and not to mention all the men pretending to be women on there. and i don't mean trans, i mean actual catfish type people. and they're so obvious about it too you'd have to be retarded not to realize but hey that's tkl for ya.

The soapbox was created cause everyone wanted an excuse to yell at the mods. And they did leave, cause they couldn't take that kind of stress anymore.
And congrats, we got to yell at the mods, and now the server is just a hollow shell of its former activity. Turns out nobody was interested in making sure the community was the best it could be, they just wanted to yell at those darn corrupt mods.

If nothing else TKL being the (i think) largest ticklefag server means a lot less searching for new images since users are posting the most contemporary stuff daily. Unless you're a loli-lover or a piratechad.
The only time I'm really irritated with TKL is when the users start having a kerfuffle in the image channels because then i have to scroll through 100+ messages of two dudes going at it over their waifu's cup size or whatever.
Today, however, some dude was spouting off a bunch of talking points about digital art being fine to pirate, which was fun to follow because of all the subsequent REEEEE'ing from every artfag in the chat before his inevitable ban.

Patreon has sadly ruined DA and artists. every artist i used to like, for example wtfeather and caroosdungeon moved towards a quantity over quality type approach so they can fill up their patreon quickly and get people to resub every few months, since people sub for a month, download everything, and unsub, artists have to pump those numbers up for people to want to resub every month or so.
and atleast some artists like caroo still post to DA, alot of my favorite ones just went full patreon and now every DA pic is just a really small crop saying FULL IMAGE ON MY PATREON ONLY 15$ A MONTH!!! 20$ IF YOU WANT THE 8456 VARIATIONS THAT ARE JUST DIFFERENT TOENAIL COLORS!
