I bought a mac once. The first thing I detested about it was that there was no way to automatically maximize windows, something Windows users take for granted. But the higher beings who designed the Mac OS had decided that this feature was unncessary, so every time I opened a new window I had to drag all four sides to manually maximize it.
Second, I discovered that the bundled software was shit. All I really needed was a word processor, but either one wasn't included or it was insufficient, I forget which. Really they wanted you to buy MS Word. When I went looking for freeware I discovered how little software is developed for Mac. I found a few free word processors but they were shitty. I ended up using a pirated copy of Word.
Finally, I had to buy and install more ram because the machine was woefully underpowered. It should never have been sold with so little ram to begin with.
So, fuck Apple. I'll never buy a Mac again.

I had antivirus installed. It just felt like the antivirus was just as much of an annoyance as a real virus would be. On my Mac I don't have any antivirus and I've never had an issue.

Windows and OS X each have their strengths and weaknesses, but the fact is unless you're building your own hackintosh you're going to get utterly shafted by the price of an Apple PC. I built my own Windows PC and it cost less than a third of a Mac Pro and it has better specs. A customisable UI isn't worth spending an extra £2k lol.

I concede that the price is really the drawback of a Mac. I got mine on Ebay for $300 and by some miracle it works well with only a few scratches (who knows what kind of weird shit is on it though that made the owner wanna chuck it, heh). If I had the money I would still go with a MacAir since I just love the OS so much but I agree that if people don't even like the OS then it is a pretty bad deal.
Someday I hope that Apple will understand that to be really competitive with Windows they will have to lower their prices but at the same time they're doing really well honestly and I don't want there to be a quality drop in their laptops.
