Obama Sanctioned Iran More Than NK

“[T]here is a misperception by many that we’ve maxed out, including President Obama when he said that North Korea was the most heavily sanctioned, most cut-off nation on Earth,” Klingner said.

But, Klingner added, Obama was just “flat out wrong” in saying that. Klingner isn’t the only one saying that, though.

According to Politico’s Peter Harrell, “North Korea’s economy is not as isolated from the global economy as most Americans believe”:

North Korea is heavily integrated with the Chinese economy, and North Korea also trades with India, Pakistan, Russia, Angola, Saudi Arabia and other countries. Korean trade with China alone likely amounted to more than $5.8 billion in 2016 after rising by a factor of more than 10 since 2000. In total, North Korea’s exports and imports were nearly one-third of North Korea’s gross domestic product in 2015 — a higher trade dependence than Iran had in 2010, when the U.S. and our international allies finally got serious about imposing sanctions on Tehran.

Harrell continued:

Furthermore, the narrative that North Korea is on the verge of economic collapse is incorrect. Estimates of North Korea’s GDP generally run at least $30 billion a year. North Korean per capita income rose more than 15 percent between 2013 and 2015. Travelers to North Korea report anecdotal signs of growth, including a construction boom and new traffic in Pyongyang. Much like Iran’s supreme leader in 2009, Kim Jong Un today has little reason to worry his country is facing insolvency.

All of this supports Klingner’s point that the U.S. has imposed sanctions on Iran that it has not imposed on North Korea, thus debunking Obama’s claim that North Korea was the most heavily sanctioned country on Earth.

“We can debate why, but the fact is they were pulling their punches,” Klingner told TheBlaze. “Whatever his [Obama’s] reasoning, he didn’t want to anger China. He didn’t want to anger North Korea. He wanted to kick the can down the road. He drew red lines and didn’t fulfill them.

“Whatever the reasons are, it was not fully enforcing U.S. law,” Klingner said.

A pleasure SS, thanks for your support and help here, you *rock* as always!

Appreciating your logical mind, do you have any advice on now we can start to break it down? My ideas were to first make headings and add all proofs (links, images, docs) we have underneath them. i.e. 'Obamas Parents Were CXA', 'CXA Created The Asia Foundation' 'CXA Funded The Asia Foundation', 'The Asia Foundation Funded Asian Gov Takeovers' etc.

From there the flow chart team would have their flow info and we could also start to make meme text bytes and get the artists and magicians in. Would you suggest a better method/s to organize / take this forward?

Could Robert Blum be the father of Fake Media/News?

2 articles by Sang Joon Lee:

The Asia Foundation's Motion-Picture Project and the Cultural Cold War in Asia

Sang Joon Lee

Drawing on archival materials from the Asia Foundation records at the Hoover Institution Archives and the Robert Blum Papers at Yale University Library, this article focuses on the origins and development of the Federation of Motion Picture Producers in Asia (FPA) by unveiling the existence of the Asia Foundation (TAF) and its forgotten motion-picture projects in Asia. Under the leadership of its first president, Robert Blum (1953–1962), the Asia Foundation, a private nonprofit organization, was actively involved in the motion-picture industries in Cold War Asia. The Asia Foundation covertly supported anticommunist motion-picture industry personnel, ranging from producers, directors, and technicians to critics and writers in Japan, Hong Kong, Burma, and South Korea, as well as American and British motion-picture producers in Malaysia and Thailand through clandestine activities.

The Emergence of the Asian Film Festival: Cold War Asia and Japan’s Reentrance to the Regional Film Industry in the 1950s

Sang Joon Lee

As the first inter-Asian film organization in the region, the Federation of Motion Picture Producer’s Association of Asia (FPA) began in 1953 under the passionate leadership of Nagata Masaichi, president of Daiei studio in Japan. A year later, FPA’s annual event, the Asian Film Festival, was held in Tokyo. The festival was not a conventional film festival but a regional alliance summit for film executives of “free Asia,” which accompanied the screenings of each participant’s annual outputs, a series of forums, and film equipment fairs and exhibitions. This article delineates the cultural, economic, and political logic(s) that gave rise to and modified the Asian Film Festival by arguing that the history of the festival, at least its first five years, resulted from the U.S.-driven Cold War politics that enunciated the new map of “free Asia,” an anticommunist bloc that was controlled by a new hegemonic regime, America.

Feng Yueh:

Yueh moved to Hong Kong and joined the Great Wall Company as a director, then in 1959 became a director at the Shaw Brothers studio.

Great Wall Pictures Corporation:

In 1948, Zhang Shankun co-founded with Yuan Yang'an the Great Wall Pictures Corporation. The momentum for developing a Mandarin film industry was established but Zhang and Yuan departed company when the finances and administration of Great Wall became influenced by events happening in China. Yuan stayed in the reorganised Great Wall Movie Enterprises Ltd, which became identified with left-wing tendencies.

Shaw Brother:

In 1957, Run Run Shaw moved to Hong Kong, set up a new company, Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Ltd., and built a new studio at Clearwater Bay, which officially opened in 1961 as Movietown.[4] In the mid-1960s, Movietown was the largest and best-equipped studio in Chinese filmmaking as well as the then-largest privately owned studio in the world, with 15 stages, two permanent sets, state-of-the-art film-making equipment and facilities, as well as 1,300 employees.

The story of Hua Mulan is well known in Chinese literature. Another musical adaptation of her story is the 1998 Disney cartoon, Mulan.

You and all anons are most welcome! Had just popped on and your post popped up. Happy to contribute that tidbit and hopefully work on a flow chart shortly.

The timing of Committee for a Free Asia forming right before the Korean War, and then tweaking the name to the Asia Foundation right after the war (which never actually 'ended'…it was an armistice, not a peace declaration/treaty), with clear evidence of SeaEyeA funding and staffing from the jump. Even current board members serve or have served on the Council on Foreign Relations.

With the timing, it's entirely logical to consider that the Asia Foundation may be the 'government' of North Korea, for whatever purposes it is being 'governed.'

If the Asia Foundation is the actual governing body of North Korea, it would explain why China has not done more to address what the world perceives as a profound threat lurking just over its southern border. China deals with the Asia Foundation, not with Kim Jung Un and the NK marionettes.

China has built islands where once there was only ocean. It could have snuffed NK at any point in time, 17 times over, if a true threat existed. Russia as well. The Asia Foundation is the actual governing body of NK…I am utterly convinced.

our purposes, is simply another name for Mobil. "

"To protect American business interests, the CIA engineered a coup in

Indonesia in the 1965-67 period, which led to one of the most appalling

episodes of mass murder in history. Over 500,000 people died in the

resultant bloodbath, which ended with the installation of a CIA puppet

"Lolo Sotero, Barack Obama's stepfather, was the key liaison between

Mobil/Stanvac and the Suharto regime. "

" … why many

left-leaning journals rarely discuss the relationship between the FF and

left-wing media. That loot may explain why the old left media (Z

magazine, The Nation, and so forth) tended to avoid CIA stories. "

"Petras names the exchange of high-ranking personnel between

mainstream biographers, to my knowledge, and without the claim of anyone

having seen documentary evidence). "

"One thing it might explain would be the meteoric rise of Obama from

junior senator to president status, just as it appears Clinton had

powerful patrons boosting his youthful rise to national prominence and

the Oval Office. "

The funder of the TAF?:

Paul Helliwell

From Author Peter Dale Scott:

"In 1951, Mr. Helliwell helped set up and run Sea Supply Corp., a concern controlled by the CIA as a front. For almost 10 years, Sea Supply was used to supply huge amounts of weapons and equipment to 10,000 Nationalist Chinese [KMT] troops in Burma as well as to Thailand’s police… Both the KMT troops in Burma and the Thai Police were the two main arms of the CIA-KMT-Burma-Thai drug connection, and were involved together in the growth and trafficking of opium for the world market, including the United States.

In the new Deep State book, on page 25, Scott links Helliwell (CAT, later Air America; and Sea Supply Inc in Bangkok) to E.P. Barry postwar head of OSS Countereintelligence (X-2) in Vienna, which oversaw the recovery of SS gold in Operation Safehaven, and introduces speculation Donovan and Dulles between shutdown of OSS in 1945 and creation of CIA in 1947 used recovered SS gold to initiate the Bangkok drug connection."

According to Scott, Helliwell was the chief architect of the CIA-drug connection in the far east, creator of the CIA-linked Castle bank in the Bahamas, counsel to the Miami National bank, a mob money laundering bank, creator of Sea Supply inc. in Bangkok and CAT inc. in Taiwan, that became the infrastructure of the CIA's covert operations with drug trafficking armies in SE Asia.

Donors include Rockefeller Foundation, the McConnell Foundation, the U.S. Dept. of Justice and the U.S. State Department.

Oh yeah, and Twitter.

Epic fucking list…of course they begin with the individuals (some of the $25k+ people are board members) and follow with the corporations, then the state agencies and governments.

I wrote a $2.1m grant that was awarded and funded by the DOJ, but I've never, EVER seen an NGO with a donor list like this. Literally HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS may be flowing through the Asia Foundation ANNUALLY.

I apologize for the length, but I think all points are relevant. This info was copypasta from wiki. I just want to point out that Donovan was in Asia when all this early TAF activity was going down, the head of the "Father of the CIA" basically based out of Asia. I am beginning to think Q wants us to look at the history of the opiod funding for the CIA. Couple this with Paul Helliwell and it makes a strong crumb. Enjoy…

William J. Donovan

Part One

Known as the "Father of American Intelligence" and the "Father of Central Intelligence". "The Central Intelligence Agency regards Donovan as its founding father".

1941

On July 11, 1941, Roosevelt signed an order naming Donovan Coordinator of Information (COI)

October 1941 Organized the COI's New York headquarters in Room 3603 of Rockefeller Center in New York and asked Allen Dulles to head it.

1942

The COI ceased being a White House operation and was placed under the aegis of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Donovan was returned to active duty in the U.S. Army in his World War I rank of colonel. Named Director of the Office of Strategic Services June 13, 1942

1943

Promoted to Brigadier General

1944

Promoted to Major General. Under his leadership the OSS would eventually conduct successful espionage and sabotage operations in Europe and parts of Asia… In China, he struggled with Chiang Kai-shek and his underlings for permission to carry out espionage activities in their territory. He inspected OSS operations in Burma

1945

As World War II began to wind to a close in early 1945, Donovan began to focus on preserving the OSS beyond the end of the war. A February 19 article in the Washington Times-Herald revealed his plans for a postwar intelligence agency and published a secret memo he had sent to Roosevelt proposing its creation.

In Nuremberg, Donovan interrogated many prisoners, including Hermann Göring, whom he spoke with ten times.

After Roosevelt's death in April Donovan's political position was substantially weakened. Although he argued forcefully for the OSS's retention, he found himself opposed by the new president, Harry S. Truman. While the OSS got "glowing reviews" from many wartime commanders, notably Eisenhower, who described its contributions as "vital", critics dismissed it as "an arm of British intelligence" and, like the Times-Herald reporter, painted dark pictures of it as an American Gestapo in the making.

In 1946

Donovan resumed the practice of law and began writing a history of American intelligence since the Revolution – a book he never completed. He traveled extensively in Europe and Asia and ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

William J. Donovan

Part Two

1947

Truman recognized the need for a far stronger intelligence service, and in February 1947 asked Congress to approve plans for a Central Intelligence Agency along the lines Donovan had proposed. Among the OSS members who went on to become major CIA figures were Allen Dulles, William Casey, William Colby, and James Jesus Angleton.

Donovan wanted to lead the CIA, and had many supporters who urged Truman to put him in charge. Instead, the president gave the job to Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter.

~1948-1951

After returning from abroad, U.S. businessmen and ambassadors passed information to Donovan that he shared with the CIA. Instead of being grateful for Donovan's help, Truman was furious, considering him an intrusive meddler.

1952

Donovan campaigned for Eisenhower, who had become a good friend since the war. After his victory, Donovan hoped to be named CIA head, but instead Eisenhower appointed Allen Dulles.

1953

Eisenhower offered to make Donovan the Ambassador to France, but Donovan turned down the offer, not wanting to work closely with John Foster Dulles, for whom he had little respect. In August 1953, however, he did accept the post of Ambassador to Thailand, because the country was an important Cold War front and the position was one in which he felt he could operate with relative independence from Secretary Dulles.

Donovan took up that post on September 4. While in Thailand, he frequently traveled to Vietnam, which was vulnerable to Communist takeover. One source says that he "was deeply involved in setting up C.I.A. operations in Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia."

1954

Although his performance as ambassador received glowing reviews from the Thai government, he resigned from his position effective August 21, 1954. After returning to the U.S., he resumed his law practice and registered as a lobbyist for the Thai government. Eisenhower made him chairman of the People to People Foundation, a group that arranged international citizen exchanges; Donovan also worked with the International Rescue Committee, co-founded American Friends of Vietnam, and in 1956 raised a large sum of money for Hungarian refugees.

1957

While in Thailand, Donovan began experiencing symptoms of dementia and was hospitalized in 1957. While in the hospital, he "imagined he saw the Red Army coming over the 59th Street bridge, into Manhattan, and in one memorable last mission, fled the hospital, wandering down the street in his pajamas." Shortly before his death, he was visited by Eisenhower, who later told a friend that Donovan was "the last hero".

Donovan died at the age of 76 from complications of vascular dementia on February 8, 1959, at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Upon learning of his death, the CIA sent a cable to its station chiefs: "The man more responsible than any other for the existence of the Central Intelligence Agency has passed away."

Not even close to being a funder of TAF. Read posts above.

>>>/cbts/30135

William Donovan was only active for a very short time at the time of TAF's inception, per your quoted wiki.

"Although his performance as ambassador received glowing reviews from the Thai government, he resigned from his position effective August 21, 1954. After returning to the U.S., he resumed his law practice and registered as a lobbyist for the Thai government. Eisenhower made him chairman of the People to People Foundation, a group that arranged international citizen exchanges; Donovan also worked with the International Rescue Committee, co-founded American Friends of Vietnam, and in 1956 raised a large sum of money for Hungarian refugees."

Not seeing profound TAF connection with either of these folks. Hope you're not sliding over here.

I know it is from wiki, but I have also dug much further and want to encourage other to do so as well. I have not looked at any information after 1960 at this point. I really feel Donovan being in Asia with Helliwell for ~7 years is something worth presenting. Block me if you wish.

Last post, I promise

By the late 1950s, it was clear that theme parks were the future of Disney. The company’s first park, California’s Disneyland, had saved it from bankruptcy and was soon generating huge profits. A second location was only logical, and Walt Disney himself soon had his heart set on Florida. (A probably apocryphal legend claims that he initially wanted it in St. Louis but changed his mind after feeling insulted by local Budweiser executives.) But there were challenges to be faced: Disneyland was such a huge money-spinner that local landowners were sure to jack up their prices once they heard Walt was sniffing around for a second space. Additionally, Walt was furious that cheap hotels and businesses had sprung up around his California location, ruining the ambiance. In Florida, he wanted to be in complete control.

To help him achieve that, Walt turned to two of the most notorious spies in American history. William “Wild Bill” Donovan was the founder of the OSS, the World War II–era spy agency that eventually morphed into the CIA. As such, he has a serious claim to be the founder of modern US espionage. By the late ‘50s, Donovan had been unceremoniously retired from government service and was heading up his own law firm, which Disney quickly hired.

He also hired Paul Helliwell, an incredibly shady figure who ran CIA front operations in Southeast Asia and the Caribbean and who usually shows up in the various conspiracy theories about CIA drug trafficking. Helliwell’s job was to use his CIA experience to set up a number of shell companies, which would be able to buy land in central Florida without anybody realizing it was really being bought by Disney.

That part of the plan went off without a hitch, with Helliwell snapping up land for as low as $80 an acre while Donovan’s law firm ran a disinformation campaign to prevent anyone working out who was really behind the purchases. When word finally got out that the land was for Disney, the price ballooned up to $80,000 an acre, but by that point the space for the park had been acquired at an average of just $200 an acre. But Disney still needed to make sure he completely controlled the land—and that meant getting the government out of the picture as well. Luckily, Helliwell had a solution.

The CIA man advised Disney to set up “puppet governments” in the form of two fake cities. Since nobody actually lived in the area, Disney would just need to place a couple of hand-picked employees in the cities to totally control the local government. This was probably illegal and arguably unconstitutional, but with the aid of a compliant state legislature, the cities (Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista) were duly incorporated. They still exist today, with a combined population of 44 people, all of them Disney employees, or retired employees, or the children of employees. The citizens elect officials and decide what ordinances to pass, but “if they didn’t vote Disney’s way regularly, you can be sure they wouldn’t be Disney employees or living on Disney property much longer.” By controlling the cities, Disney controls local government, making Walt Disney World a magical kingdom indeed.

The stolen history of the CIA and the Asian Foundation

Try this: https://www.muckrock.com/news/archives/2017/nov/02/taf-1/

Note the predecessor to the TAF … (CFA).

Also see March 1967 issue of Rampart's Magazine (pp 29-39). This is in reference to this:

"A prime mover behind this change of heart appeared to be Walter Raymond, who surely knew TAF’s earlier status as a CIA “proprietary.” In 1966, Ramparts magazine exposed that relationship and led the Johnson administration to terminate the CIA’s money."

"According to an April 12, 1967 memo from the State Department’s historical archives, CIA Director Richard Helms, responding to a White House recommendation, “ordered that covert funding of The Asia Foundation (TAF) shall be terminated at the earliest practicable opportunity."

Interesting article on Ramparts here (just some info about the magazine):

TAF reported $95m in government funding in 2016, with an additional $25m in 'donations'.

(source: TAF's 2016 Form 990 filed with IRS)

How does $120m sound in terms of a SeaEyeA slush fund? Enough to run a country, or maintain a veneer of such whilst engaged in other activities?

Note that board members are not compensated. Wonder where Elizabeth Economy, the board member who sits on the Council for Foreign Relations, gets money enough to 'donate' over $25k in one year to TAF.

I suspect there's a connection between TAF/CIA and Subud but I haven't found it yet.

wikipedia.org/wiki/Subud

>In Jakarta, Husein Rofé, an English linguist who had been living in Indonesia since 1950, met Pak Subuh. Rofé had been searching for a spiritual path and became the first non-Indonesian to be opened. Subud moved outside of Indonesia when Rofé attended a religious congress in Japan in 1954. Subud first spread internationally into Japan, followed by Hong Kong and Cyprus. In 1957, Rofé (who was then in London) suggested that Pak Subuh visit Britain. Pak Subuh accepted the invitation and visited the home of John G. Bennett in Coombe Springs. It was at this time that many UK followers of George Gurdjieff were initiated into Subud, including Bennett himself, though he later left the group. Over the next 14 months Pak Subuh visited many countries before returning to Indonesia.

$5,000,000 for the Asia Foundation, which is “committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia.” Since FY 1997, members of Congress have directed 10 earmarks totaling $59.6 million to the Asia Foundation. $4,400,000 for the Inter-American Foundation (IAF), which promotes and invests in grassroots projects in the Caribbean and Latin America. President Obama proposed a reduction in funding for IAF in each of his budgets, including a cut of 1.3 percent, from $22.5 million to $22.2 million in FY 2017, and has recommended that IAF continue to seek partnerships with corporate foundations to leverage additional funding.
