So this game is finally available, and affordable, outside of Murrca. Having a mean hankering for a mech game thats not dead, and having kaiju and the toei vibe included this caught my attention.

Trouble is Privateer Press has a rocky reputation. They behave like the pre CEO switch over Games Workshop without the money and market to support it, there are rumours the company is in trouble after massive higher up brain drain and they have a very anti FLGS mentality and support outside the US for their other games doesn't exist at all. The Grymkin for Hordes for example never got a restock outside America. Ever.

So while i see the kaiju, b movie saucers and Megas XLR looking mechs and know friends who are interested the publisher really makes me wary about putting the money down. Especially if EU support will dry up with no comment by PP like their other titles.

Anyone else tried it? can you recommend it?

I am outside of the states, and there's only one store in Moscow that sells PP products, and they don't have this game in stock.

It does look nifty though. If you actually get it, do me a solid, and scan the whole thing, along with high quality side photographs of the buildings, so that I can print it for my own use.

in the UK you get some Warmachine but Hordes does not exist. To import the Grymkin start box is like £200 compared to £50 for the 40k/AoS start collecting boxes its just not selling if it does get here at all.

But hey at least everything in this comes in a 7x12" box for scanning

I played a full game of Monsterpocalypse (new monsterpocalypse) at a con last year.

I can confirm it is superior to the old game in terms of gameplay. The models are gorgeous to look at (though some of the monsters like Hammerklak and Sky-Guard X have weird poses, the rest is spot on). I haven't painted them yet but I 100% plan to try and get my hands on some Terrasaur models to paint and place in my display case.

My only warning is what you already pointed out. Something weird is happening to Privateer Press and I don't like it.

That said if I ever find someone to buy all my old Monpoc off of me, I will replace it all with a set of Terrasaurs and not regret it one bit.

>check online

>already sold out of miniscule stock distributed outside the US

>no plans for restock

>ever

>scalpers selling one starter box for £150 online

Fuck Pirvateers Isolationist business practices so hard. It would be easier and cheaper to import a fucking Nechronica book at this point.

So i *think* i found a legit place in bongland that has one of each starter kit in stock. Has anyone outside the US played this game yet?

Found em at Firestorm Games in Cardiff. Arrived today. Lotta flash, comparable to stuff like Forge World products but much sturdier than finecast, they feel more like action figures than minatures which i guess is kind of the point. I had to do a fair bit of trimming, sanding and a few scrubs with a toothbrush and soapy water to get them ready for assembly. It almost went together flawlessly bar the head on Gorghadra needing a bit of greenstuff in the seam on one side.

The pop out tokens are nice thicc card, it comes with 6 foldable cardboard apartment buildings as the starter terrain that are nice and stable from good card stock rather than shitty paper and all in all it feels like a nice quality box. Its weird theres no two player starter set so you need to track them down separately. In bongland Destroyers can be found, some scalped to fuck at £120+ but some at £40-50 like normal but protectors are rare as rocking horse shit.

Got them primed and drying now and then i'm gonna give them a good go with the ole' airbrush and inks but these are simply 1-5 piece models that are honestly harder to clean and prep than assemble with no guides needed. I'm interested in the terrain pieces and the martians next if i have fun. I'll be taking them to my FLGS as i asked on their discord and theres a fair few folks interested. Its just a shame the starter -the only place to get the mats and tokens right now- never got restocked outside the US and privateer uses the shitty default us postal service for shipping which is fucking extortionate and this is coming from a country with a tv license.

Scan. The fucking. Thing.

The rules, the dice, the buildings, everything. I can't get it otherwise, and it does look cool. You don't even have to do any actual work besides that yourself, just PM some guy who does TabletopSim boardgames, and he'll do the rest.

I worked in the PP warehouse from 2011-2015, wasn't a bad place to work but the office folks were awful cliquey. Matt/Sherry Wilson who owned the company lived in California because Matt had a boner for Hollywood he could never get sucked.

>countermonkey: "m8 we have tried. every distributor i know is absolutely befuddled at PP seeming to actively want to avoid putting some of their products out outside of the states, theres nothing anyone can do"

Fucking christ.

I flew around the US for work at the last board game company I worked at, every time we went somewhere we'd spend half a day going around to various game stores.

Only a couple had good things to say about them, selling card decks just to turn around and invalidate all of them immediately with digital, going direct only with their larger resin models

Mk3 was a rushed mess as they hadn't even started rules development while the shipment of new starter sets was about to hit the warehouse
