Oddball races thread?
I've been on a kick lately with pathfinder digging up all the weird races nobody ever seems to mention in it. I'm sort of curious to hear about races for other systems with the problem of being forgotten or shunned, and stories of using them.
So have a couple from Pathfinder
Ganzi
>Like tiefling/aasimar but spawned from chaotic Proteans
>No two look alike, features are subtle but weird
>Can change someone's luck
>Bombastic but seemingly normal
>Form so fluid its resistant to sonic damage and electricity
>Somehow has sense motive instead of bluff
Astomoi
>People made of pure darkness
>No seriously they're just solid shadows with no face and rarely wear clothing
>Can't talk so uses telepathy to communicate and cast spells
>They don't eat but instead basically steal the soul of the food like a magic black hole
>This includes immunity to eating poison or diseased things, thus can eat anything
>But since they breath through their entire body and are basically black hole people poison smoke and air diseases fuck them

Shilling my favorite, once again. 3.5
Dvati
>snow-skinned humanoids, pitch black hair
>Blue eyes, no sclera
>three fingers on each hand
>entire species is born as identical twins
>each body shares the same mind and soul
>if one body dies, the other takes unhealable Con damage /day
>have to share limited resources (spell slots, WBL) but each get own turn
>casting spells requires both bodies to spend their action on it
>each body only gets half the HP it normally would
>make great candidates for classes with at-will abilities because you can double up freely

Shit someone else knows about them?
I loved this race and always wanted to play it but I never got a chance to. The idea I was gonna go with was a pair of fighters who split sword and shield duty.

No, you don't get it, the two bodies are effectively the same person. What you're thinking is actually 4-handed masturbation.

Hell yeah. I'm the guy posting around about my healnetwork Vitalist build. Each body projects the network, and most of the Vitalist's abilities are SLAs or SUs, so each body can use one per turn.
If you get in a game that'll allow Dvati, it'll probably also allow Savage Species. Check out the Monstrous feats in there keeping in mind that you're one character with 4 arms, 2 heads, and 4 eyes. Multiweapon fighting options get crazy, culminating in the ability to cast two spells per turn.

That said, the other two races being the Lupine (Werewolf hating Wolf People) and Diaboli, which are a literal race of male and female Daemonettes from the Plane of nightmares that had to flee due to their plane touching upon the Far Realm thanks to faggot elves ruining everything.
There's also an actual Half-Elf/Orc race in Kingdoms of Kalamar, Half-Hobgoblin and Half-gnolls.

Wilderlings
>Part human, part nature fey
>Nature bond that gives them either plant or animal features, older ones look like dryads or Malfurion Stormrage tier animal blends
>Bit odd statline that makes them really reliant on their natural DR/Cold Iron to protect them from their shit constitution score, especially at low levels
Agarician, Bolite
>Little poison mushroom people who glow
>Come from a culture of wildly varied mushroom people who have a sort of limited hive telepathy
>Most adventuring bolites relay information back to the powerful psychic mushroom being in charge of the place they came from, may result in the party having a fandom they've never met

This brings up all kinds of implications, actually. You could cycle your bodies, sleeping with one while the other does whatever. Then trade. 24 hour a day work. Or lewds.
I wonder what kind of subfetishes would develop around the two body setup. Treating one body differently than the other to create erotic disassociation? Like selective denial or something. I guess self bondage can go to 11 right out of the gate.

I always consider "half-ling" a corruption of "half-lin" - the dark secret of the halflings is that they are the result of crossbreeding humans with goblins, which is why they're the most fertile of the "classic demihumans".

It does, doesn't it? Plus, it's a perfect excuse to add sexy female goblins to your setting.
I've also used halflings as the result of what happens when you crossbreed a human with a gnome, for settings where gnomes themselves are the result of crossbreeding elves with dwarves. Thus, they're "halflings" not because they're lioterally "Half a Ling", but because they're made up of halves; Half Elf, Half Dwarf and Half Human.

https://mimir.net/factions/bleakerbarmies.html#ling
Ling (Planar / male of unknown race / illusionist 11 / Sensate / N)
>Ling seems a friendly enough basher at first, at least before you get to know him better. He's not in here so much for being insane, (though there's little question he is) but more because there's nowhere else safe to send him. See, this poor little pike's been hunted down wherever he's gone, but that'll become clearer when I tell you his story...
>Ling's a short little berk; about three foot tall, cherub-like, with large hairy feet. Does he sound like a halfling to you, cutter? Thought he might. He ain't though, at least, he ain't if you're believing what he has to say. Listen good, and try not to laugh too hard. Ling claims he is just that: a "ling". Don't look at me like that; I know what you're thinking. See, Ling says he's the father of the race of creatures that call themselves "halflings". He reckons they named themselves after him. "Yeah, right!" I hear you say.
>Thing is, berk, no matter what we try, we've not caught him in a lie. Try what we like, no divination spell says he's bobbing us. We've even tried psionics; he really believes he's telling the truth. So before you dismiss the barmy's claim: think about it.
>Ling reckons that thousands of years back he and one of the human powers were lovers, and the first halflings were the product of their romantic endeavours. Some time later, Ling happened across Yondalla (who apparently owed him a favour), and told her of these friendly little creatures who could do with some divine guidance. Thus it was that the halfling race was born and found their pantheon. So Ling claims.
>In practically the same breath he'll lament the other fruit of his loins: the tieflings. According to Ling, these creatures didn't exist until he'd met and 'got to know' the very first succubus (whose name, it seems, is consigned to the graveyard of history). Even since then, union between mortals and fiends has produced (somehow or other) the tieflings.
>As a setter of dangerous precedents (what else could tieflings be called?), Ling seems satisfied. He's entirely cagey about his origin or age, though the wizards're sure he's many many centuries old. It's also apparent that he ain't a power, or else the Lady'd never have let him into the City of Doors. Still the mystery remains.
>Like I told you before, Ling ain't in the Asylum 'cause he's dangerously insane (though if he spawned the tieflings on purpose I'd hardly call him rational); it's more for his own protection. See, one of Yondalla's own avatars has been chasing the poor sod around the Planes for some time now. Luckily (for him) the berk escaped her direct wrath by diving into Sigil, where he was safe for a while under the Lady's shadow. Thing is, Yondalla sent proxies after him, and in a bizarre turn of events, the combined halfling temples in the Lady's Ward issued a contract for his assassination. Not very charitable, right? Maybe they've got something to hide after all?
>Whatever happens to him, we've got to get rid of him somehow. The berk's costing us a fortune to feed.

How about oddball monsters?
I remember, but can't find, pictures of various demons some schoolboy made, with hilariously gory descriptions. Saw them many years ago on halfchan's /tg/. Looked like Doom demons if designed by a 8 year old. They had these hilariously autistic written descriptions, similar to those "forever bound" fetish pics. Something along the lines of "Forever crawling soldier spilling guts to kill family" or something similarly gloriously cheesy.
Does anyone have them, or know how to look for them? Thinking back, they were really creative, and I'd like to steal some of the ideas.
