Everything from the characters the figures are of, the quality of the figures and even just the packaging seem so much shittier than the prequel stuff. Of course that people said I haven't dick around with Star Wars toys since I was a child but this is just a surface observation.

Probably contractual obligation. SW merch has 'historically' been a license to print money, so I would imagine Disney had a ton of leverage to dictate terms to whoever they decided to bestow with the rights

Lucas made certain designs toyetic as fuck. Episode I had horrible toy sales however what I recall alot of the background jedi and Battle droids sold alot. It didnt really pick up till Episode II with the Clone Troopers since well Clone Troopers had alot of cool shit and if I recall ARC troopers were just an idea to sell toys due to the cartoon and it worked out immensely. The cartoon helped immensely every kid wanted to buy the ARC troopers with their special gun ship.
I think its also due to the fact they dont sell battle packs anymore this shit was a steal.and sold like fucking crazy. Target and Walmart also sold exclusive battle packs on top of it.$30 for like 5 figures was good shit.

None of the Disney Wars toys are popular. For black series figures, TFA characters go dirt cheap whilst everything PT/OT is inflated as fuck unless it's a recent release. Hell, Last Jedi stuff is already dropping in price while the new Jaina Solo figure is increasing.

It's because in 2016, Disney's Lucasfilm and Hasbro held a fan vote to see which character would get their own action figure in the Black Series. Majority of people only voted for EU characters, and Jaina won out of all of them. In 2012, a similar vote was held and everyone voted for Mara Jade, and in 2015, everyone voted for Revan. Now Thrawn will be getting his own figure soon.

Thrawn has his own figure now. Though he's technically a Rebels character, the SDCC version comes with what look like ysalamiri. The royal guards also have Crimson Empire armor and there's a shadow guard variant from Force Unleashed (though the armor's wrong for that, it's supposed to be more stormtrooper-like).
I loathe supporting Disney Wars, but the 3.75 figures are just too expensive to collect now, unless you want the crappy 5poa ones. Nobody sells them, and prices are super inflated online. "The" SW line is clearly 6" now. Overpriced crap, mostly, and most black series figures with human faces look pretty bad, but stuff like the 40th anniversary Vader look great. Also I'm a sucker for EU stuff. But the going price for Jaina is already above retail, and that's just too much for me.

It's sad to see, but this sacrifice could–possibly–be cause for hope for the future. Disney and Kathleen can meme as much as they like about the guaranteed profitability of Star Wars, but there are only so many ways to spin driving your collaborators out of business. Between this and EA fucking up the Shekelfront games Yes, I know that happened because EA a shit and it could be handled well by another company, but there are plenty of people who will look at that and think "star wars games aren't popular" instead of "EA can't make games.", other companies may be less likely to partner up with the Lucasfilm trashfire in the future.
