The board for discussing all things Star Wars!
This thread serves as a simple introduction to the board, but can also be used for suggestions, board news or anything you might like to share.
Tips:
• Here are some essentials to getting started on the board and integrating into the community.
1: Check out the board's CyTube channel for live chats and watching SW videos (feel free to edit the playlist if you're registered on the site): https://cytu.be/r/star-wars
2: We have our own Star Wars encyclopedia covering all pre-Disney media, the SW Holonet. Feel free to check it out and contribute: http://swholonet.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
3: Don't be afraid to ask for info, sauce or links about SW comics, books, games, etc. We're always happy to share what we know.
4: Learn some freaking Huttese, you scocha kungs.
5: Fair warning. Diehard Disneyfags and Namefags can and will be mocked by the locals.
6: Always check the catalog.
7: Credits are accepted, but truguts are preferred.
The Rules:
• The rules here are simple, we live by and follow the rules and laws of Hutt Space. Which means we barely follow any real rules here. Just don't post CP and keep shit on topic as I don't like banning or deleting shit, unless its necessary, like spam, cp, brownpill shit and raids. Off-topic shit will not be deleted either, but it will be anchored (unless its scifi-related and in relation to us), so just make a meta general for that kind of shit.
May the Force be with you, troopers.

Yo, big boss Bordo, we got linked over at /qresearch/ as an "interesting" stop for the huge arrival of newfags. Expect either a lot of disneyfags or casuals willing to learn and accept our EUpill. Either that or a shit ton of spam.

On that note, is there any reason to keep /tv/ up as one of our sister boards? I'd almost be tempted to replace it with a place like /tg/, which is much more friendly towards discussing worldbuilding and the EU.

Nice to see some suggestions and a nice level of board activity. Now then, I haven't frequented /tg/ in years since last time I was there it was nothing but /v/-tier memes and "humanity fuck yeah" shitposting. So is anyone here still a regular over there and is /tg/'s SW activity moderately high? If so, would said /tg/trooper mind asking /tg/ if they want to affiliate with us? If not then I'll do it myself after I finish my hotpockets. As for /strek/, I've been meaning to ask them for a while considering several anons here already post on both boards, and both our franchises are victims of JJ, so we have much to bitch about. I've also been thinking that maybe we should hook up with /arda/ since their franchise is about to get its shit fucked too, and Star Wars is kind of both scifi and fantasy, so having a scifi and fantasy board as siblings would be kind of fitting. If everyone says no, then forget I suggested it.
As for removing /tv/, I can't bring myself to do that even though they're shit. I mean, /tv/ is basically /b/ now, but they've still kept us and /strek/ as sister boards, and shitposters from over there never really bother us aside from two or three faggots back in December. Not to mention that they're the only major board that links to us. So I say we stay with them until they decide to drop us.

Indeed. Problem is finding enough people interested in playing in a setting based on the old lore. IRL all anyone around these parts ever wants to do is play shit campaigns based around the Knights of Ren, encountering Rey, Finn, some genderfluid cerean or anything from the new movies, and every time someone always does some shit that leads you to Jabba's fucking palace. Even older players just went full casual after the Disney buyout.

Some might be just holding out for an anon like yourself to make the offer, and haven't done it themselves because they've assumed they're surrounded by normies. http://www.starwarstimeline.net/
I've been checking out the EU on and off for a few years now and in my experience the above website is pretty much infallible when it comes to chronology and checking whether or not you missed something interesting along the way. There's A LOT of stuff so I just pick a timeline, hit CTRL + F and eyeball the general vicinity of where I'm currently at to see if there's a short story or something I may have missed before I move on to a new book or comic. Really good site for cross referencing with other sources too

I remember when the board wasn't half-fucking-full of "Rian" this, "Kennedy" that. Fucking hell. It's like seeing the same fucking thread a million times, because that's exactly what it is. Can we have a recycled news general thread or something?

I blame the Rian threads on that one specific anon from /tv/. But it's true, people keep holding the same discussion endlessly, but it typically spins off into a wild tangent after a few posts and becomes something fun again..

So what do you want me to do then? Set up sticky and/or cyclical containment threads for e-celeb shit, political shit and Disney shit? If that's what you all want then make the threads if you can with a fitting description and I'll pin them or make them cyclical or I can just change one of the current more popular threads to serve as generals. If you all want me to anchor or delete current threads covering said topics, then I'll need more people to vote on that if the threads you want gone have a lot of posts. However I'll browse through the catalog and see which threads have little to no posts and delete them if you want.
Also, do you lot still want me to go on /sudo/ and ask if an Aurebesh font option can be added to the board?

I believe it should be stickied since, in my experience, this sort of discussion attracts newfags who just look at the first page and ignore the rest, thus it would serve as better containment that way.
For example look at the IBS thread on /cow/ and how pinning it and making it cyclical stopped that board from further devolving into pure e-celeb drama.
>Also, do you lot still want me to go on /sudo/ and ask if an Aurebesh font option can be added to the board?

I'm not surprised. It was inevitable. Many of the 501sts members were forsaking a lot of the older armors and focusing more on Disney shilling than SW RP and charities. A falling out was gonna happen sooner or later. Not to mention all their cosplayers now were just nu-troopers, Knights of Ren, Kylo Rens or shitty background armors from TFA.
Also that "Empire are evil Drumpf nazis" shtick on twitter from the braindead and disconnected writers in Rogue One only helped to fuck up their image since the 501st was largely Empire-themed. Its like no one at Disney has any fucking knowledge of the last 20 years of SW history or the fandoms. Is no one from the old guard left at Lucasfilm or something? Did Kennedy and Disney replace all of them with Pod People?

As you all know, midterm elections in the US are coming up and shit is bound to get more political and hectic online, especially around here. Its possible 8chan could get fucked with like during the April Fools hack or worse. 8chan servers have been buggy as fuck too. So remember to save your favorite images and archive your threads for posterity just in case the worst comes to past. And also to go to either the russian /sw/ board, the HoloNet wiki or our IRC Chat in case shit really does go down hard in the near future.
Also, we need to set up a bunker or even a potential replacement board. Any suggestions? Should I set up a Discord?

Not the best idea if you ask me. Whether or not it really is a honeypot, enough anons think it is that it would fracture the board base as one or more "unofficial" bunkers pop up for splinter groups. As for alternatives, the first that comes to mind is Voat, although given the nature of the site it might also come under attack come midterms. I'm not really well-versed on inter-chan drama, does Endchan have some viability or is there some reason we should distrust it and/or its owners?

I can't really think of anything wrong with endchan. Some anons dislike it due to the fact revolt moved to there at one point, but that's all I can think of.
In terms of other options for bunkers, there's always the option of getting an anon to host their own imageboard or forum temporarily. Also 08chan, which is made specifically as a bunker for this site.

This sounds like something that's worth its own thread. Its no secret that 8chan's activity has been waning and that we have more negative attention than positive, especially with all the questionable pedo boards. This place might as well be a honeypot. I personally think we shouldn't outright move, but to at least set up an emergency/secondary board somewhere on an imageboard that allows custom board creation because if were to move, we'd be forced to just be a shitty general thread on a bigger board. Question is, what other boards are there?

Yes and no. Its interface is basically reddit+reddit enhancement improvements. This theoretically has the same problem as reddit in that there's a potential for circlejerks to arise, but because of its population, this circlejerk has been pushing things in a positive direction instead of a negative one. As a result the userbase is rabidly anti-censorship and just as edgy as 8chan; halfchan /pol/ actually tried to raid them once, but no one noticed because the average voat is more redpilled than most halfchanners, and they left disappointed.
