According to Screenrant it is Luke`s fault that Palpatine returns in Episode 9 (and there is a logic hole in Return of the Jedi)

https://screenrant.com/star-wars-9-original-ending-emperor-force-ghost/

Can somebody explain their thought process? According to the EU, most Sith Lords don't return as force ghosts or if they return they have far less power

Nope. How a team which could be acommodated inside a lamba transport, whch was about 20 people or something more could do something against a garrison? The ewoks who were done the fighting even if as fodder.

But the real hole was how the garrison commanders were utterly retarded.

>they don't execute the rebel leaders on spot

>ok, they capture them with orders to deliver them to the DS

>but instead of immediately abscondely them inside the bunker or dispatching them to the DS/fleet they round up them in the open

>instead of executing them in the moment they get themselves surprised by the ewoks, they break formation, let them escape and give chase to the natives, instead of a recognized rebel team which they would obviously knew that were there to blow up the shield generator

>fuck they knew about the rebel presence in the moon the moment they landed, up to the Emperor himself

>they go chase teddy bears

>Leia got shot and they still try to make prisioners

>no monitoring of the battle from inside the bunker to the point of Chewbacca and ewoks hijacking an AT-ST and nobody inside being none the wiser

>Han Solo deceiving the garrison

>nobody asks for identification

>durr hurr we will open the bunker and send squads to help just because an AT-ST driver told us so, without mention to rank or anything

>a critical military installation, garrisoned by "an entire legion" of best troops which surrenders the moment the rebels point a gun, instead of figthing to the last man

>oh but it was the back door, the garrison were smaller there

>nobody had comlinks to inform and coordinate themselves and relocate troops

>a base in full alert, with the enemy identified and in the open yet uncapable of killing about 30 rebels.

That was the logic hole. The shield generator would never be destroyed if the imperial army acted like a real army.

30? 40? How many people you can shove inside a lambda ship?

>also the rebel fleet arriving definitely stopped the arrival of reinforcements.

The Emperor mentioned "an entire legion" of his best troops. Even if he's speaking hyperbolically, it was clear that it was waay much more than a sabouteur team cramped in a single shuttle.

> rebel fleet arriving definitely stopped the arrival of reinforcements.

The rebel fleet was outnumbered and had to rely in a suicidal tactic of going to blank range/ramming just to survive against the DS.

>"We'll last longer than we will against that Death Star! And we might just take a few of them with us".

The empire could perfect send troops to the moon, in case of the garrison down there not being enough, which it was in all cases.

First the North Vietnamese army that was on the offensive. The South Vietnam military was a joke and the country was a mess. Second , the US had the military upper hand all the time, their objective was to avoid a communist take over of the south. From a military point of view they achieved that the south only fell aftter they withdraw from the region. They never went there to topple the Hanoi regime (which was backed by China).

Ewoks were not vietcongs neither the north vietnamese army. Neither the rebel team. It was a single demolitions team against an entire garrison of supposed elite troops. The ewoks were meat shields, fodder, a distraction.

>The ewoks were meat shields, fodder, a distraction.

right you are, the rebels used guerilla attacks while the ewoks were like HEY LOOK AT MY TINY BROWN WIENER to the empire. and even then, the rebel forces were still captured and rounded up until the ewoks were like "wait we can use guns lol" and then they started using guerilla attacks. so basically, it was a few hundred imperials versus a score or two of rebels and the entire ewok populace of the general area. sorry but there's really not much to spin this in favor of the empire. the only part that gets iffy is the fact that like no rebels were ever killed, it was all ewoks and imps dying.

the real question though, is why vader let luke & them land in the first place. he very much knew they were on the ship, though palpatine did not. was vader possibly using the force to mask his presence?

ok, i'm rewatching some sheev scenes from jedi, it was all part of his plan. my guess is he purposely put a small detachment on the forest moon since the overall plan was to have the entire rebel fleet show up and get picked off simply by a game of numbers, since he also figured the amount of imperials on the moon would be enough to stop the 2 squadrons. so this is sheev being overconfident and fucking up.

>it was a few hundred imperials versus a score or two of rebels and the entire ewok populace of the general area. sorry but there's really not much to spin this in favor of the empire.

It does in the sense that the place was supposed to garrison "an entire legion" of the Empire's best troops, who act like some buffons. The criticism isn't against the rebels or the teddy bears (who actually acted more like real troops than the imperials) but against the braindead Empire's troops.

>is why vader let luke & them land in the first place. he very much knew they were on the ship, though palpatine did not. was vader possibly using the force to mask his presence?

Vader knew that Luke would go after him. Remember that both sense each other in the Force before the rebel landing. It was their familial bond that make it possible, that's why Palpatine didn't felt anything at first. That's why he inquires Vader which amounts to "hey, are you hiding something from me?"

>since he also figured the amount of imperials on the moon would be enough to stop the 2 squadrons

Even so that doesn't justfiy the troops in the bunker acting like fucking morons

Look at this shit.

They don't ask for any further information, doesn't confirm the identity of the driver, nothing. He just send "3 squads" to help to the open when they don't really know how many hostile teddy bears where around.

When said squads go out? They simply surrender. They were supposed to be fanaticaly loyal stormtrooper soldiers

Now look at this bigger shit.

The rebels were less than 20. The imperials, for some reason, made a parade surrounding them, just to look mean. The droids appear and instead of shooting them from afar (who knows if they were rigged with explosives?) they go and try to capture them. All the time the rebels were just there in the open. And all the troops are facing inward, nobody outside the walkers are watching the perimeter. The scout troops only go to their bikes after the ewok attack.

Cue the ewoks, what the troops do? THEY FUCKING SCATTER! They don't give any priority to the rebels at hand. The officers run like girls to the bunker amd that's it. The ewoks attack and before one of them give the horn call the troops with the rebels don't do a thing.

The unarmed prisioners? They are capable of overpower their armed captors who just start to run wildly instead of shooting at them, AT FUCKING POINT BLANK RANGE, AT FUCKING CONTACT RANGE.

Even aside from extensions, wookies would have a lot less room for clumsiness than ewoks. With the teddy bears you expect them to bumble around, and it would actually look strange for them not to. Whereas the wookies need to be genuinely capable warriors to a degree, and that would be harder to manage in the costumes.

According to the Lambda shuttle Legends article, it could hold "more than 20 soldiers", or, "20+ passengers". I've always thought that was kind of lame. It just seemed like a way to keep the Obi Wan ghost around without having Palpatine come back in the same way, but I'm not sure how to fix that because you certainly couldn't say that he was less powerful in the Force than Obi Wan.

I think that with the current theme being letting the past die, Luke will probably end up destroying the Force, or at least all of the force ghosts. Or rather Rey will.

actually, if you think about it, most cases of sith ghosts weren't like force ghosts, but rather their spirits escaping death and lingering around the galaxy. only in cases of say exar kun or the valley of the dark lords in kotor and jedi academy did you have actual sith spirits return from the grave, and even then it's a case-by-case thing. so really it's not wrong, it's just a prude statement because anytime it gets brought up faggots like filoni get snippy about it.

if I'm not mistaken, Sith can 'transfer essence' into a clone or an artifact to cheat death. the Jedi, on the other hand, accept death and eventually become one with the Force. before they completely ascend, they retain their individuality within the Force for awhile, which allows them to return as a force ghost. at least, this is my understanding of the matter.
