Can we talk about how good Rogue One is? I think that it holds up better than any of the other Disney-era Star Wars movies thus far. Sure, it probably does not work for someone without much familiarity with the wider franchise, but it really does complement the viewing experience of A New Hope.

It doesn't, though. It makes the opening with Vader make little to no sense, since he had apparently just seen them take off. It's a really dumb movie and you only like it because it pretends to be gritty.

Vader slaughtered twenty dudes in a hallway at the end of RO to stop the plans from being smuggled out on board the Tantive IV, and then personally witnessed the Tantive escape with the plans on board.
In ANH, Vader questions Leia and states that they intercepted a transmission from the ship that led them to believe the plans were on board.
There is no way to reconcile the end of RO with the beginning of ANH. All the people who wank off to the Vader scene in RO are retarded niggers who derive sexual pleasure from imagining Daddy Vader impaling their virgin assholes with his lightsaber.

Fuck it, why not reply.
TFA is garbage, TLJ is hot garbage, and Solo is garbage. RO garbage that doesn't stink, but is garbage nonetheless. It's tolerable in a handful of places, but those places are spaced apart by horrible pacing, which takes to far too many planets to care about what's going on. There are similarly far too many characters to care about any of them. The only one whose name I remember is Jyn Erso, and that's only because it's such an obvious ripoff of Jan Ors. What little I do remember of her character is unlikable. The Little Hammerhead That Could is stupid for self-evident reasons.
Those are the problems with the film in a vacuum. When you take it in the context of the other Star Wars films it gets even worse due to continuity errors. The already-mentioned hallway scene, and Leia's presence, which breaks the opening dialogue of ANH. Vader making sassy dad jokes over his chillingly dry humor in ESB. Mon Calamari joining the Rebellion before the Battle of Yavin. The Rebellion having any kind of major fleet before Yavin.

Even if you look at it on its own Solo is trash. The script is just as full of holes as TLJ if not more so, plot points come and go like Ruth Bader Ginsburg's life signs, and the only persona that approaches likable is Harrelson. The visuals all blend together into an ugly, mangy brown color, which backdrops the most generic of generic sci-fi aesthetics.
Really, it's a mistake to consider Solo outside of the context of Star Wars, because its connections to the OT are the only thing carrying the movie. Without Harrison Ford to draw on, Ehrenreich Solo just becomes an uncharismatic retard that occasionally playacts at being smooth. Lando just becomes an overacting /clang/fag. The Falcon means nothing as a symbol. The "rebellion" that 56% Metroid is funding is meaningless, as is Maul's cameo.

I'm afraid I don't see it. His motivation isn't very clear, ostensibly it's to protect Queera but then he ignores going after her for five years to fuck around with the Imperial Navy. Although my problem is more with Ehrenreich's playing of the part. Even if I put the real Han out of my mind the performance just isn't compelling to me, I can't find a reason to root for this character or give a shit what happens to him. And that's not something you want to see in a protagonist.

I don't really care about that though, because I judge these as stand alone entities. I don't consider this Solo to be the same Solo from the original trilogy. This is a new character who's superficially similar.
Now as a lead-up to the character he is in Episode 4, the movie is a complete mess. Episode 4 opens with Han as cold hearted loner who only thinks about himself. If this movie wanted to be a proper prequel, it should have built that version of Han, rather than reassuring us he was a hero all along. That completely breaks his character arc.
But disconnect from canon, and from all of your emotional connections to Star Wars as a franchise, and this Han is okay as Generic Protagonist Guy. Call the movie Space Outlaws, and call Han Jimmy Gunslinger.

But we see no indication of him using his resources find new once he gets them. They could have shown a supercut of him using connections in the Navy to follow leads on her, or make the reason he was kicked out of the Navy be for disobeying orders and going after an extremely thin lead after Queera. But none of that happens, he comes across her completely by accident when he isn't even looking for her. Ehrenreich actually has a motivation, which puts him above Rey Sue, but he isn't very enthusiastic about fulfilling it.

The intro is the best part of the film. It falls apart once the main crew comes together. Lando, and L3-37 shouldn't have been a part of the story. Han's GF who's name I can never remember how to spell should have served as motivation for Han, but but never have joined the main crew, appearing mostly just at the beginning and end of the movie. Han learning to be an outlaw from Woodie Harrelson, and developing a relationship with Chewie should have been the core of the movie, rather than "dude, the Kessel Run. I know that reference!".

Then she scared of the force and just wants to go home so she runs off. She needs to beat up Kylo Ren? Then she's angry he killed his Dad, whom she's known for ten or eleven hours.
Second movie is the same thing. She's now a full member of the Resistance despute joining a few days ago, eager for Luke's help. She's not angry at Kylo anymore, she is horny, so horny she goes to him right when Snoke needs to die. Then she hates him again and leaves. Then she goes to rescue the Resistance and is happy to see people she's known for a few days.
She kind of wants to know who her parents are even though she was old enough to scream "Come Back!" At them as they flew off. She's just this ball of grunts and angry faces that behaves and feels whatever is necessary to go to the next planned out scene.

Does anyone else hate the fact they retconned the Death Star exhaust port to be an intentional weakness? It's just stupid trying to justify something that didn't need to be at all. Stupid redditors say the Empire were stupid having it, but do you really expect the designers of a moon-sized battlestation to be able to point out and fix every minute structural flaw on a project of that scale? Even with the flaw, when Red/Gold Squadrons flew out from Yavin IV to put a proton torpedo in there, most of them died due to the heavy defenses from the turbolaser emplacements. Luke even had his torpedo bounce off the ray shielding and had to use Jedi powers to hit his mark.
If it were anyone else in the pilot's seat, the entire Rebellion would have been wiped out. Fuck this movie, and fuck Star Wars "fans" for liking it.

I guess they really wanted to go the extra mile to show how "speshul" and "deep" their new movies are at the cost of any consistency. It just irks how so many people (Disney fags, normalfags and even some anti-Disney fans) will defend this movie and all of its flaws.

More than that, redditors are lasering in on Bill Nye-tier "lel Y doesn't that happen" criticism and showing they don't understand writing in the slightest. The whole point of the story is that the Empire didn't see this small but critical weakness. It's supposed to represent Imperial arrogance and overreliance on their perceived superiority, why else do you think Tarkin refused to evacuate even when told about the weakness? ANH isn't exactly Dostoevsky novel, that kind of theme should be easy to pick up on, yet the redditors can't even do that.
Next they'll be asking why the Resistance didn't just use the eagles to fly to the hidden base.

honestly i love the film but it is a total shitshow. the editing is ass, and that fucks with everything else - the story, the characters, it's a giant misstep. they would have been better off with keeping jyn's mom as a runaway jedi, it would better explain jyn being able to have a badass grrl power moment instead of just being written in for sjw points. spanish kyle is legitimately the only interesting character, and that stems highly from the fact that he's the nu kyle of disney wars. reddit droid (i'm gonna call him r3po from now on, or r3 for short) isn't funny, the deadpan effect doesn't work with a droid, look at r2 and c3po, there's plenty of emotion in their lines and that's what gives off the humor, deadpan works better with people because you have an actual face to look at to accompany the monotone voice. krennic is dumb as fuck and got what he deserved, so i'm totally fine with him being some little kiss-ass imperial trying to climb his way to the top, only to be stopped by mothafuckin tarkin. vader's castle scene was pointless, i'm not even gonna go into the myriad of stupidity that exists with him building a fortress on the planet where he got rekt by obi-wan, and i don't care what stupid retcon the comics made to justify it, it's still a retarded choice overall. yes, the end scene of him slaying rebels was great, but as already stated before it does fuck with the continuity of a new hope. baze and chirut are also okay, i like donnie yen being a stereotypical monk in a scifi setting. granted, this film's shit with the force was made so that we would be more accepting of the shit in the last jedi, so it still fucks with established canon and therefore i cannot accept it.

That's why I have this version. Just the Battle of Scariff with 50/60% classical SW music going with it. Fun fanfilm. It still doesn't erase the anti-white/feminist main team but still…

I'm sure we've been over it, but calling the exhaust port a design flaw has always been stupid.
1.It's a huge moon sized super weapon. It's probably going to need an exhaust port somewhere
2.The port was guarded by gun turrets, and there were plenty of tie-fighters on standby to protect it
3.If it weren't for the convenient presence of a force sensitive kid being guided by the spirit of a powerful recently dead Jedi, no one would have gotten close. Bear in mind all of the Jedi are supposed to be long gone, and knowledge of the force is hard to come by, presumably stamped out on purpose by the Empire

this, a lot. the empire was even aware of the rebellion's plan, they realized the trench led to the exhaust port and analyzed the possibility of a successful shot being pulled off. vader is the only known force user left in the galaxy, it's assumed the jedi are extinct. the chances of a force user who happens to have training making that shot is quite literally one in a million, as han said. when red leader had taken his shot and it wasn't a direct hit, the empire pretty much knew their chances of defeat were very slim.

The only good part to Rogue One was the space battle at the end. Everything else was boring, or fucking retarded.

The only “good” movie Disney could produce would be an unabashedly pro-fascism, pro-Empire film where Vader is the center piece and he hunts down remaining Jedi culminating in him enlisting Boba Fett to help him hunt down a surviving Windu. Throw in some Sheev scenes for good measure. Maybe put Hayden in the suit.
They could do this but will not. They’ve got JEJ and MacDirmand alive for another few years and Sam Jackson is more than happy to do Windu again and they’re gonna waste all of it.

worst is that there would be a lots of beaners who would love it; right now Lucasfilm just think they'll get this audience with stupid rebel beaner characters like Cassian Andor, they're wrong…

I know some beaners they think Cassian Andor is a faggot, so I don't think CA was intended for spics but rather for 30 something plain Jane types to lust over given that he looks like he is or was part of a boy band.
