>They criticized the movie for many things which they praised TFA for.
I still suspect that they were paid off for their TFA review. Even the Plinkett review of it was incredibly low-energy and provided little in the way of actual commentary regarding the film.

I don't know. Even their Plinkett review made remarks about "racist fans" over the bullshit JJ started over anyone asking about why Finn was black was automatically a racist. The issue was normalfags thought all troopers even in the OT were Jango clones, so a bunch of them started asking why Finn wasn't a clone. This rustled JJ and Lucasfilm's jimmies so they went on twitter and news sites to bitch to gain pity points. It was the precursor to the Kelly Tran bullshit to gain sympathy so idiots were automatically inclined to love TFA and moronic moral grounds if they didn't want to be labeled racists.

>What about when Jay said "Daisy Ridley was charismatic as hell"
I'm still amazed he said that out loud. The woman just walked around with her eyes bulging and her mouth open for the entire movie. She had no compelling character traits and no development. That sort of statement goes beyond mere delusion - it's an outright denial of reality, and one of the reasons why I think they were paid by The Mouse to say nice things.
>>27787
They're certainly further left of center than I'd like. They also seem to be perfectly comfortable beating up on the fanbase, which they misrepresent as a gigantic, writhing mass of pop-culture whores who will buy anything with a brand label (this is certainly true to an extent but this representation lacks any nuance).

/tv/ and /pol/ also raided Twitter with a fake hashtag about not watching the movie because it had negroes in it. Of course the shill media gobbled that shit up because it fit right into their narrative.
And, yeah, to this day I can't figure out why RLM sucked TFAs cock so much. I think we can chalk this up to them not really caring that much about Star Wars (Mike even says at much in the prequel reviews), but at this point I'm not ruling out that they were bought off.

They got bought off for merchandise, not even cash (although strangely Space Cop was finished right around the time TFA came out). But also Mike in one of his loudmouth videos made the drunken claim that JJ would be perfect as the director of Star Wars, so he felt like it was his thing. But ultimately it's because Stoklasa is a director snob. If the movie has JJ Abrams as the director, he'll praise it. If it's Lucas, he hates it.

Possible but you gotta remember something else. They feverishly suck JJ Abrams' cock at every opportunity. A movie could be complete dogshit but as long as JJ is involved Mike will cream his big boy pants. I lost respect for RLM long before TFA when I realized had a clear bias when it came to directors and camera work.

Notice they have no arguments against the demonstrably true statements that TFA is a bad rip off of ANH & that Daisy Ridley is a
ma-REY-sue he just dismisses it and the fat maladjusted autist ( rich) quickly agrees with him…I am sure they followed this up with an insult against the critics/fans.
What's sad is that they did not have the balls to do "the what's wrong with her face" joke in the plinkett with Daisy Ridley. It fits so perfectly and its pure pottery…. freaking cowards.

Hogwash. "SJW" is a fairly specific term, and none of the RLM people meet any of the criteria. In fact, they made fun of SJWs and political correctness on Half in the Bag before. Maybe they don't like Trump, but you don't have to be an SJW to not like Trump.

I think the most frustrating thing about RLM is how they're nerds in denial about being nerds. They rose to fame making autistically in-depth analysis' of Star Trek and Star Wars movies, and then they turn around and mock people for doing what they did, back when they still cared, picking up the ball where they dropped it.

I think they fell for the hype, and now they feel like idiots, but they don't want to admit that to themselves.
You can see them struggling with cognitive dissonance when they blurt out something like "Star Wars never had any potential as a universe", or double down on their tired Prequel criticism, or drag up some bullshit from the EU that no one cares about, so they can write the whole thing off.
They can't just say "these movies are bad. They're bad because Disney are making them wrong. Disney are making them wrong by doing the exact things we advised a few years ago. These movies are worse than the Prequels that we hate, and worse than the EU that we hate. You CAN do Star Wars right, it has near boundless potential. Disney are just failing at it. J.J Abrams was not a good choice. Rey is not a good character, and Daisy Ridley is not charismatic. You actually have to do something more than try to remake the OT". They'd have to walk back everything they've been saying for years, and their egos are too big to do that now.

>You can see them struggling with cognitive dissonance when they blurt out something like "Star Wars never had any potential as a universe"
It boggled my mind when they all agreed with the assertion that there aren't any more stories to be told in the Star Wars universe because there's nothing there beyond the original trilogy. Rogue One certainly has its share of flaws but they scoffed at it for even trying to be a dark, morally ambiguous war movie set in the Star Wars universe, as if such a thing was impossible. I still enjoy their Nerd Crew videos because it rightly lampoons the consumerist soyboys and bug-people pseudo-fans, but when it comes to Star Wars as a whole I'm convinced RLM doesn't know what's good and they don't know what they want.

I think Rogue One's problem is it didn't go far enough. It still kind of tried to be a run of the mill Star Wars movie with a plucky kid protagonist, and a comedy sidekick, and a dashing rogue, and a whole menagerie of "buy the action figure" characters. It should have just straight up been a war movie about the kinds of guys you always see in the background of Star Wars movies. Regular Rebellion soldiers and regular Stormtroopers. No "will these misfits learn to work as a team?" shit. Actual soldiers, soldiering.

Yes, I wholeheartedly agree. The problem with RO is that it didn't commit to the original concept of being a darker espionage/war movie. Instead it tread this bizarre middle ground between that and a typical Star Wars film, and as a result fell completely flat.

I´m tired of all that "le irony XD" bullshit that it´s promoted by the cynical society of today, so few entertainment nowadays is sincere and have heart and hope.
Perhaps that´s why so critics like RLM bash the prequels and doesn´t like much the original to begin: They are idealistic space operas that tried to make the espectator fell happy, give him good vibrations and motivate him to be a better person.
But that doesn´t like the normalfags today, they don´t like how these point out how piece of shit they are and how the can change for better, so they called that media "chessy","cringy" and other despective words to try to cover out that they and their attitude is one of the reasons of this depressant world where we live.

These people don't consider themselves creepy because they think they're better than the guys around them. Other guys are rapists because Disney said so but I'M NOT so that makes me superior. They're called "nice guys" by roasties because that's all they can think to offer any one and everyone knows deep down they're utter scum.
Not to rain on your "I'm superior to the average consumer" attitude here but there is nothing more commercial than Star wars. They sold kids IOUs for Christmas when they couldn't product enough toys for them. The only part of Star wars that wasn't main stream from day 1 was the novels and novels are never main stream in this genre. Same way the Game of thrones novels aren't mainstream but the TV series is.

When you argue in favour of empathy you prove you are the soy boy type. Normal healthy behaviour doesn't have universal empathy for every freak you run across. Empathy is for someone having cancer, losing a child or having a pet die. Serious issues that require someone to compensate for such a terrible situation. Empathy is not ignoring the beaded eyed freak growing a beard to compensate for a complete lack of masculinity. They are ANTI-empathy because you cannot fix them without causing them enough trauma to man up and stop acting like a child (including wearing a beard in order to appear like an adult, like a child dresses up as a super hero). It's cruel to leave them in a state of arrested development until something happens in life they are unable to cope with. Only through trauma and cruelty can you force these manchildren to grow up enough to deal with the world they live in.
>>27773
Disney doesn't need to give them a dime. Disney just needs to send Z list celebrities to do cameos and they will do anything they want. Landis is a good example of this. You don't give money to youtubers, you throw them merchandise and "hollywood" types for guest episodes. They value that way way more than money.

Spite marketing is extremely effective and cheap. Start a fake hashtag, use bots to promote it and your social media network to retweet it and you have news articles on every geek website and mainstream meteor website. Get your actors to slowly comment on it so every day the article resurfaces and you're front line news in every country with internet access.
Even people who don't read the news but do forums will hear about it. /tv/ and /pol/ will make threads on it. /v/ might too depending on the movie. You now have viral marketing done by people outside of your marketing network and all you have to do was get your social media team to write "I hate niggers in star wars" and then one of the social media handlers to write "wow, I hate racists like THIS!" on an actors social media.
Now you understand why all this shit works and why it's done. Warfare became digital, why do you think the media didn't adapt to the digital age too?
