So what exactly did they do wrong besides lose? All they wanted was to not have to pay retarded taxes which is a pretty noble goal. Not to mention:

>Unlike the Recucklic they were transparent that their infantry was disposable

>Didn't want to subjugate the entire galaxy, but secure the outer rim

>Had popular support due to how corrupt and inefficient the Republic was

>weren't entirely just another pawn in (((sideous'))) game in my headcanon

The CIS actually had some good points and why Padme before her death was moving more to their side like in this deleted scene. The problem that everyone saw in the Confederacy was its hard tactics since hem being a small force when compared to the Republic. If Padme had told Anikan everything he probably wouldn't have sided with Palpatine but she didn't.

All and all whether their reasons were good the CIS you see is controlled opposition which allowed the Sith to gain complete power. Had more diligence been done to investigate the Banking Clan on Muunilinst and discover where Palpatine got his holdings from we'd be able to end the war and save Democracy. Of course the Yoda's Jedi only defended against actions against them, never taking action on their own.

And the few Jedi who did were dispelled from the order and never given support.

George dehumanized the Separatists way too much. In their very first appearance in Attack of the Clones they are presented as a collection of greedy aliens and villains from the previous movie, with none other than Count Dracula at the head of the table. He couldn't have made them any less sympathetic to the audience if he'd tried.

Under the surface they have a very agreeable anti-bureaucracy platform that should have attracted the support of "good people" rather than only corporate hand-wringers. The Clone Wars briefly addressed this with the Mina Bonteri episode but they threw that promising dynamic out the window completely by killing her off as soon as possible and making the CIS a faceless warmongering droid army again.

I guess they were just another victim of ham-fisted writing like a lot of things in Star Wars. I think a lot more political links should have been drawn between the Separatists and the Rebellion. That was probably the biggest wasted opportunity from all of this.

I don’t think he could have introduced them and shown them in a positive light at that point in the film. Fleshing them out and introducing sympathetic CIS characters would be best left to the EU & The Clone Wars. That is where they failed IMHO. I would have liked to see some of the CIS heroes mentioned in the opening crawl of Episode III.

The Empire is introduced in a very similar manner in the OT – they are evil, and there are no shades of grey to be seen in how they are handled. If the Empire had been portrayed in a more positive light, the Rebels blowing up the Death Star would have come off as even worse than it already is – a little over a million people were killed when the Rebels blew it up.

All the diverse groups were being used for support against the Republic and because of their diversity they didn't get to know one another and just accepted those amongest themselves. This was deadly for them as one at the table namely the Sith wanted to bring their diversity together so that he could crush them all once necessary after their usefulness was spent.

Yeah, I actually agree. She wasn't a bad character in "A New Dawn" or the handful of other early appearances she popped up in. She was just very bland and mediocre without anything to distinguish her from any of the other ruthlessly ambitious Imperial officers compensating for humble origins with arrogance in the lore both old and new. If it weren't for her being female and black, she'd be entirely forgettable outside of her own specific stories.

Cuck Winging, naturally, used his reverse Midas shit touch to destroy her beyond salvation. People were chimping about her existing to replace Thrawn or be nu-Dar'nala, but they didn't even put that much effort into it.

It really drives home how superficial, hollow, and cynical this diversity push has been. There are plenty of good non-white and female Star Wars characters but they're just dumping out the equivalent of injection molded plastic figurines and painting them with melanin while congratulating themselves for it and fishing for social media to do the same. Making a Panaka or Depa Billaba of their own would take work, after all. If they could work Patreon or Kickstarter into this, they fucking would.

 No.5617

>>5610

Well, to be fair, you need skill to write a Panaka, Depa Billaba or even Mace Windu for that matter because they each have personality.

Postmodernist thinking, however, clearly shows that they have no interest in making their characters even marginally relatable or even giving them any form of personality; what they want is a character that you can identify immediately, so they have to stand out in their design, and not their personality. Why do you think so many post-modernists walk around with rainbow coloured crests like fucking birds of paradise? (Ironically brightly coloured birds of paradise are usually the males in the species) They have no other way of differentiating themselves because their indoctrination killed any sense of individuality, and solidified that you are only identifiable by the groups you belong in. (Black, trans, queer, old/young, man, woman) that's also why so many mental disorders are popping up; people thinking they are "Demi-queer" or "Dendrosexual" (I made that last one up, but anyone interested in that might have a thing for Neti.)

The problem they are running into with Star Wars is that the cast is so outwardly diverse that human skintone really is no more different between a white and a black person, or that human sexual dimorphism simply doesn't stand out when there's bright red, blue and green Twi'leks dancing around, when wookies are charging a droid army and when you're most of the time looking at the exterior of the ships aside from the occasional reverse dashcam shots. And even in those dashcam shots the sheer variety of alien species doesn't make them stand out as much as the SJW's like.

Putting Admiral Holdo on TLJ was another attempt at making a female character stand out from the crowd, but in doing so they fucked up royally because instead of standing out in a good way (Like Hera, who's actually got a personality) Holdo simply stands out the same way the valkyries would stand out in a WW2 documentary. Yeah, they are tangentially related, but the visual language is just jarring.

So what's the /sw/ approved "final cut" for the films? Personally, I'm fine with most of the new material spliced into the trilogy, such as Jabba in ANH, the Twi'leks extended scene in the rancor pit, and so on. The exception to this is Vader's "Noooo" in RotJ, and adding Naboo to the celebration scenes at the the end. The deleted scenes showing Padme starting the nascent rebellion deserve to be put into RotS.

rots with the deleted scenes (shaak ti's death, birth of the rebellion)

anh dvd/bluray release, but without the awful krayt dragon sounds. i don't know why george kept messing with it, he should have given the banthas a different noise.

empire strikes back dvd/bluray. it's everything in the special edition minus the inserted sheev scream that never really fit for luke's fall.

jedi minus the nooo bit and with the record version of lapti nek, the film version is terrible, also naboo isn't a problem you cuck.

Naboo was the planet Palpatine was senator of and the whole point of the crisis was to guilt the galaxy into electing him and Darth Plagueis as chancellor and vice chancellor.

Maul was also there to secure or kill depending on if he intended to serve Sidious or Plagueis.

Qui gon and Obi wan were to be killed on Tatoine and Anakin snatched for a life of a Sith

but they escaped and went back to Naboo.

No, because it would be missing the point of the story that Lucas wanted to tell. CIS were the bad guys in this because of their actions and that's the lesson he's teaching us but more importantly the teenagers and kids watching these movies. There's good actions and bad actions. CIS had valid reasons to combat the republic but their actions were evil, just like Anakin had legit reasons to cut down Mace Windu and save the one who could save his wife but performed evil actions and therefore were portraited in an evil light at that point on.

It's amazing how brilliant Lucas script really is but faggots don't seem to understand the nuances he had in them. Because they all stem from the same problem of being cynical modern soyboys with no sense of classical morality compass and knowing what's right or wrong.

The problem is with this approach is that, at least in the films, we have so few examples of "bad actions" from the Separatists. Their biggest crime was questioning the wisdom of the great and all-powerful Union Galactic Republic. And seeing as they chose a defense force of droids over growing an army of disposable slaves, the CIS practices are arguably more humane than the Republic's.

They really weren't, though, barring slapstick in Ep III as the other guy said. Droids developing true sentience the way R2 and C-3PO did is actually relatively uncommon in the Star Wars universe. It tends to only happen after an extended period without a memory wipe, and even then it's not a guarantee—usually a lack of memory wipe just brings about quirks and erratic behavior.

As I understand it, C-3PO is designed for interacting with sentient creatures, so it is entirely reasonable that he would behave as one to better facilitate communication. R2 is an astromech droid, which requires much greater intellect than a BD. And the memory wipes as you mention.

Unless they are specifically designed as such, they are not. OOM, B1 and B2 droids are made to be cheap, dispenseable and without true sapience. Just remember that they didn't had a sense of self preservation for start. They started as droids commanded remotely from ships to self contained units, and even so if ordered to march into a pit, they simply would.

>we have so few examples of "bad actions" from the Separatists.

The Trade Federation's actions in TPM cover that angle, and the viewer is left to assume that other corporate factions such as the Trade Union are of a similar ilk.

But the Separatists could have been introduced in a better light. In both trilogies the only embodiment of pure evil is Sidious himself, and he leads other characters around him (mainly the Skywalkers) to pick sides in their inner moral conflict. Confederates were, like the Senate itself, just pawns, and as such, they need flaws which allow them to be manipulated, like naiveté, ignorance, greed or cowardice, but otherwise can even be well-intentioned fools. Of course, by giving in to the temptation offered by the manipulator, they are gradually corrupted, as Anakin was, but they didn't need to start off evil.

Maybe this would have been too much to show in the movies, which had limited time and had to focus on Anakin's journey to the Dark Side, but it could have been given attention in the EU.

It did, the entire Jabiim arc of Republic focused on human separatists which are responsible for one of the biggest Republic losses of the Clone Wars. Not to mention Dooku, Grievous, and the Jango Fett/Mandalorian Protectors had backstories of how they were basically fucked over by the Republic. Not to mention the CIS Shadowfeeds that gave you a different perspective of the war.

The films are hyperfocused on Anakin's fall, the same way the OT is hyperfocused on Luke's journey to become a hero. It's the job of the EU to flesh out the details.

Here's another list of all Clone Wars media. You might find something there.

That's what bothered me the most. He was so generically villainous as were most CIS characters. Which is odd since that one CIS episode with Ahsoka showed the CIS could be just as grey or moral as the Republic, with the exception of Dooku, who was also reduced into a mustache twirling minion for the show.

The CIS are basically a metaphor for modern non-white hordes (notice the Confederate leaders are all ugly aliens versus the mostly human Republic) being baited into a war against whites by the Jew (Palpatine) and led by a shabbos goy (Dooku) who is ultimately just as disposable as they are. In other words, it's a metaphor for the modern world. George is really way smarter than people give him credit for and he saw all that shit coming from a mile away years ago. Plus the obvious American Civil War parallels that run very much contrary to the "muh raycism" narrative. I am honestly amazed how no one realized back then how super-redpilled Lucas was.

no, only an idiot follows this thought process. sheev making the death star to combat the vong makes no sense, why the fuck would he get rid of the senate at the same time if the insurgent deterrent was really meant to be a defense against an extra-galactical invasion? this is the emperor we're talking about, all he has to do is put out propaganda about how the vong are on their way and these weapons are a necessary reaction to their arrival and bam! job done. but nope, he just gets rid of the senate, and alderaan is destroyed to show the galaxy that the empire still rules and no planet is safe.
