Not this asshole again. The only thing worse than his terrible argument is the fact that he just fucking traced pictures of the actors instead of drawing them from scratch himself. This fucking hypocritical piece of shit even made one of the most violent anti-George Lucas drawings out there yet he's acting like he wasn't part of the worst aspects of the fandom. Disney shills truly are the lowest of the low.

Kylo being a reflection of the fandom makes little sense.
As does the First Order being "THE STATE OF THE NATION".
Force Awakens would have been a better political allegory if First Order were an underground movement that was based around subterfuge lead by Mara Jade/Kylo/Thrawn.
Where you don't know who is with you or against you. Kylo continues to pretend to be a Jedi whilst being a sith etc etc….but no, fuck that, we need space battles.

>As does the First Order being "THE STATE OF THE NATION."
If that were true, to be fair, it wouldn't be the first time Star Wars had writers with flamboyantly exaggerated political viewpoints. George Lucas wrote in the notes for A New Hope in 1977 that The Empire was what he expected the United States to become by the late 1990s. So the First Order being some nerd's idea of the present surge in right-wing populism would arguably be rhyming pottery.
I still don't think it is, though. Mostly because I don't even think anybody writing the First Order has given that much thought about it or even been allowed to create that lore.

And of course the Nixon allegories to the Emperor are prevalent, I won't deny that. It is rather odd though that none have really thought of writing something that is supposed to mirror the society and yet so far away from reality/the narrative being pushed

I never would have known that Palpatine was supposed reflect Richard Nixon without having it explained to me with Lucas's quotes. I only see the barest similarities with Julius Cesar and Hitler who were apparently also inspirations. I only see a tyrannical douchebag and could theoretically project whoever I personally think of in the way Lucas saw Nixon onto that. Because of that, it never got in the way of the fantasy.
These days everybody feels like they need to upload a summary of where they stand on an issue to social media even if nobody asked and they have no expertise or exposure to make their point of view any more relevant than the Wal-Mart greeter's. I'm honestly pretty surprised that the only time it's been as on-the-nose as Sheev = Tricky Dick was the Rogue One safety pin incident.

Pretty much every villain who was created in the 70s or by people who were old enough to be politically aware in same decade (last wave boomers and first wave Gen-Xers) is supposedly influenced by Nixon. He remains their greatest totem for hatred even though in retrospect he was much less right-wing than other Presidents and prominent politicians who they hate less or have mostly forgotten like Reagan. It's likely because Nixon was not shy about calling out the media and criticizing pop-culture for promoting degenerate values. It's something that a whole generation of left-leaning types who worked in the creative and media industries can't fucking get over. Nixon was America's greatest political villain because he slighted them directly and they'll nurse that grudge to the grave.
One thing you might notice if you watch a recent Simpsons episode is that Matt Groening is STILL taking potshots at Nixon every now and then. I wouldn't be surprised if Nixon doesn't appear in Sauron form in his new swords and sorcery Netflix show.
It's why I think the anti-Trump hysteria is going to be around even after I check into the nursing home. His actual platform was to the left of quite a few Republicans in the 2016 primaries and he's hardly delivered on the proto-fascist dystopia he was memed into secretly heralding, but that's not important. What matters is he pissed off the artists, the radio stations, the television companies, the press, and not too few digital content providers. They'll be mad for decades long, long after he's dead and the 100-somethings still occupying these niches and roles in the future will STILL think they're being funny and insightful by publicly airing their butthurt.

What I always found amusing was the anti-Nixon jokes and references that would pop up randomly media. The Question is who are these jokes for? Nixxon died a few years after I was born (1994) why do THEY think people would find them funny when today's adults ( ie non-elderly people) did not grow up when Nixon was president?

While the American Empire will certainly peter out within the next 75 years or so–no more world police, no more NATO influence, etc–the US as a nation will likely limp on for a while after that. Balkanization is a real possibility after the empire falls, however.
