Gonna admit that I used to lurk there pretty often. It's turned from a few passionate fans discussing the future of a franchise they like into a Disney apologist echo chamber since TLJ. There was a ton of trash before, but it has become an increasingly sad sack of trash when you realize that there are still people who love Star Wars there, being drowned out by these soy tears.
Fuck shills.

Look how this fucker tries to dangle "hey, they won't make a Kenobi movie if Ep 9 fails" to try to sway people. Why does anybody want a Kenobi movie? If it takes place post-Empire, it will be ultraconstricted on Tatooine. If it takes place pre-empire, you could follow any jedi in the galaxy, free of constraint.

Obi-Wan is a character who served his purpose in the series. We've seen basically his whole life play out on screen. As much as I like him, bringing him back again would be needless, and likely only muddy what is currently a pretty elegant story arc.
What are you going to do? Insert more adventures into the time he was supposed to be living on tattooine as a hermit, watching over Luke? I quite like the fact that he was just out there that whole time, presumably eating rats and staring at rocks and shit. It tells you something about the character's dedication, and where he was mentally after he failed with Anakin. He's punishing himself, but also retaining one last hope. That story loses something if you know he was wizzing off on adventures with wacky sidekicks the whole time.

they also already did old wounds in rebels, so there's literally nothing they can really add to a movie, other than i guess obi-wan first settling in and getting used to the jundland wastes? maybe they'll give an origin to him doing that krayt dragon trick, and give us a newer and hopefully better sound. or maybe they'll give us an origin to owen's description of "that wizard's just a crazy old man" and the ben kenobi thing.

In the old stuff, Obi Wan tended to fight Tusken Raiders a lot and help the Lars family. Only ever doing anything else to study the lay of the land or get news and info from the local towns. He only went off world once because Qui Gon had one last soul searching lesson to impart. That's only worth a short film or a 3 episode mini series rather than a whole fucking movie. But since they're not digging into the old stuff, they're probably going to really ham it up with some idiotic original storyline of him going on some anti-imperial quest with a woman whose accidentally kidnapped a toddler Luke (because he was hiding in a crater of water bottles or something), reuniting with Yoda on Dagobah with a whole ton of needless action sequences and explosions on an "epic" scale instead of being normal down to earth battles that have the same feel as the classic films. And probably some tractor beam related bullshit just for the nostalgia factor and a Mos Eisly scene where his female co-star will teach him all about it and call it a "hive of scum and villainy".

Poorly marketed in Asia, maybe. I couldn't get an hour without seeing fucking solo ads for a good portion of the month until memorial weekend, the idea that solo has been poorly marketed is stupid.

A bit of a word salad there, so just to clarify: you are saying that there are a fair number of right-wing Juden–Rothbard, Friedman, Paul Gottfried, and others–acting against their leftist kin, and that right-wing Jews are far more common than other right-wing minorities, yes? I don't disagree there. Mostly what I was trying to emphasize with the "where do you think we are" rhetoric was that, this being an imageboard, people are going to make Holocaust jokes and mass generalizations about Jews whether they seriously hold those convictions or not, simply because that kind of gross irreverence is a staple of imageboards; you could sooner try to ban dubsposting than eliminate this tendency. Some do it seriously, others just for the fun of it, but it will be present either way.

The majority of problems the west faces today do stem from jews, however. The leftist non-jews only get their talking points from the social sciences and MSM, which have always been the Ashkenazi's playground. Embed is from a guy who had been defending them vigorously up until people demanded he look into them more; it's a good summary of their political views and history.
I like a lot of Friedman's ideas, though; I'm not one to reject shit simply based on who created it, because that's obviously retarded. It is also pretty fun to answer questions with just "Because jews," given that it is so often the case.

The main problem is that merchant memes and arguments were originally solid, funny and well delivered and made you realize they were basically bullies trying to guilt trip you over bullshit that shouldn't be so relevant today, especially when they constantly guilt trip the very countries that gave them sanctuaries. Even Japan rarely features manjis anymore because it offends jews because it looks too much like a swastika, which is retarded to the point where even a big name manga like One Piece had to change one of its Jolly Rogers for using a manji on the Whitebeard Pirates despite their being nothing provocative or anti-semitic about it. Many are basically spoiled brats in that sense and there were those brave enough who called them out at their SJW tendencies at the risk of being labeled but still did it anyway. Now instead we have a bunch of paranoid schizophrenics yelling "kikes/jews" at everyone around them while wearing the tinfoil a bit too tight and acting like petty crybaby victims unlike their level-headed and mature predecessors which makes me suspect that this new wave of idiocy is just newfags or edgy teenagers who just do whatever they're told without any thought. Sage because this is really fucking off-topic and I just want this place to be about Star Wars since its one of the handful of decent boards left on this shitty site in decline.

It's rather ironic considering the number of people they get and the stream of new content you'd think they would have, given Disney SW is active. And yet, here, it seems every post on the board is worth reading. I'm thinking of making a Rogue Squadron thread since I started reading it yesterday and found it's really fucking good. > I thought it would be funny, but it's just bland. Endless blandness, far as the eye can see
Almost all subreddits that focus on a particular piece of media are wholly controlled and operated by the owners of the IP. The mods for that sub are probably either accounts run directly by Disney marketing, or one of their marketing contractors, or it's an actual user who takes payoffs from the company in order to enforce their rules.
It's also entirely likely that a sizeable portion of the userbase that posts or comments are astroturf accounts that are controlled en masse by marketing contractors in Disney's employ. There are specific software packages available to "guerilla" marketing firms that allow an astroturfer to easily create and control thousands of accounts on social media sites like reddit.
The blandness that you see isn't just from soy-chugging normies. It's also purposefully constructed white noise thrown up by marketers to encourage hivemind behavior and drown out critical discussion about the new films.

Can confirm, there is LARGE astroturf on reddit, especially after the election. It's often apparent on the recent EA threads, you can notice top level comments sucking off EA, bashing anyone who makes good games, that directly competes with them.
No other company has that level of vidya astroturf, that ive noticed, not even sony.
Of course, that's only one field- it's not even remotely limited to gaymes.

Yes, and there is no reason to see Ep 9 as everything was already wrapped up in TFA/TLJ.
Therefore the Marysue"saga" (Rey’s movies they can always make more) is effectively over and the next film can only inevitably be a disappointing stretched out for run-time monstrosity. The only significant “accomplishment” of EP 9 will come at the end of the film where the Marysue will put Darth Soy in his place and defeat him in the most emasculating manner possible (I predict he will be crying). The rest of the film will be filled with useless time consuming story arcs that will be TLJ Rose Tico + Black guy tier. Add to this some more f**k the fans CY+3 propaganda and yet more unnecessary purple haired CY+3 garbage characters.
This is all they have left unless they get desperate enough and do something extreme involving time travel (Dr.who Tumblrinas seem to be their target demographic so they might), alternative realities, or a reboot of the sequels (wait for the EP 9 Part 1 , 2, etc. for confirmation of reboot).
I will be surprised if EP 9 does well, perhaps if Disney pulls out all the stops and tries to build interest with some gimmick(s), this might be enough to convince people for the first weekend especially with casual movie goers and then sharply drop off as the word of mouth of how bad the film is spreads but I don’t think this will work this time.
I think it’s over for SW until they start cleaning house at Disney and Lucas arts after which they would need to regain people's trust in the franchise by actually producing something well written (solid story and plot with no bolshevik/California politics), well cast (people who can act, pretty women, and men rather than soy boys) and well directed SW films before fans and even causal start coming back to it in numbers.

Pic related.
The prequels certainly had their problems. Take literally the entirety of Kashyyk from RotS. It serves zero purpose to the plot. Or the factory fight on Geonosis; sure, it shows off what's being done on the planet, but we already saw that when Obi-Wan was snooping around. Or the omnipresent CGI that just grates on you after a while (sure, I heard they had lots of practical stuff, but when you run every practical effect through a greenscreen and a bunch of digital "enhancements" it still looks off). They never even made a single set of clone armor!
But then you have Nu-Wars, which takes these (honestly not movie-killing) problems and blows them out of the water. ALL action sequences with the Falcon are indistinguishable flashy sequences. And the pointless bits can now take up the majority of the film (like Poe, Finn, and Rose in TLJ). At least the prequels didn't have that many plotholes, and you could rationalize around them when pushed. Not to mention the god-awful dialogue that truly reared it's head in TLJ and continued into Solo. And then there's the complete lack of sex drive. A huge chunk of motication in the original saga was sex-driven, but we can't have that, apparently, that's bigoted.

The idea of dinosaurs running around with blasters is just too great not to appreciate. Those guys are honestly one of my favorite minor factions for that reason alone.
>The prequels certainly had their problems.
Yeah, they certainly had their share of awkward dialogue and overused special effects. The CGI doesn't bother me too much, since it seems the majority of it was well done- but unnecessary for most scenes and quite a few characters. This may sound stupid, but I think the prequels pull off making the CGI looking natural better than a lot of more modern films. It was just good enough to do the job, but not so advanced that everything looked too detailed to be real. The designs had restraint, and the the film crew wasn't obsessed with making every pore on the actors' faces visible in great detail.
Anyway whatever George had up his sleeves to make the prequels enjoyable films even with the flaws- Disney clearly doesn't have it, at least the part responsible for former Lucasfilm IP.

That's not stupid at all, it's true. This is especially true for Phantom Menace, where some of the scenes that are almost 100% CGI look great despite it still being in the pioneering stage at the time. Not sure what to compare with from the modern age since I've ditched Hollywood. The reflections off the Queen's ship are just stunning, even today, because of how the visual effect was used.
