Okay, so am I the only one suspecting that JJ may actually be Spielberg's bastard son which is why Spielberg won't stop shilling him and recommending him to everyone? What are the odds that Spielberg is pulling a Palpatine and is setting up clone successors/host bodies?

I don't buy it. Unless Kathleen has been quietly demoted behind the scenes, Rey wont be shown in a bad light. She's Kathleen's pet.
At the most, they might tease her going evil for the first few minutes of the movie. That'll be the Luke pretending to be a shady figure in Jabba's palace sequence.

The issues with the prequels have been overblown by time and clickbait nuWars ads it seems. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I've seen even the normalfaggiest of normalfags get fed up with what happened to Star Wars under Disney. Of course, being who they are- they still repeat every stale meme about the prequels being worse than Sith they've uncritically picked up from reddit.

>Another Ssiposter
Pic related.
The prequels certainly had their problems. Take literally the entirety of Kashyyk from RotS. It serves zero purpose to the plot. Or the factory fight on Geonosis; sure, it shows off what's being done on the planet, but we already saw that when Obi-Wan was snooping around. Or the omnipresent CGI that just grates on you after a while (sure, I heard they had lots of practical stuff, but when you run every practical effect through a greenscreen and a bunch of digital "enhancements" it still looks off). They never even made a single set of clone armor!
But then you have Nu-Wars, which takes these (honestly not movie-killing) problems and blows them out of the water. ALL action sequences with the Falcon are indistinguishable flashy sequences. And the pointless bits can now take up the majority of the film (like Poe, Finn, and Rose in TLJ). At least the prequels didn't have that many plotholes, and you could rationalize around them when pushed. Not to mention the god-awful dialogue that truly reared it's head in TLJ and continued into Solo. And then there's the complete lack of sex drive. A huge chunk of motication in the original saga was sex-driven, but we can't have that, apparently, that's bigoted.

The idea of dinosaurs running around with blasters is just too great not to appreciate. Those guys are honestly one of my favorite minor factions for that reason alone.
>The prequels certainly had their problems.
Yeah, they certainly had their share of awkward dialogue and overused special effects. The CGI doesn't bother me too much, since it seems the majority of it was well done- but unnecessary for most scenes and quite a few characters. This may sound stupid, but I think the prequels pull off making the CGI looking natural better than a lot of more modern films. It was just good enough to do the job, but not so advanced that everything looked too detailed to be real. The designs had restraint, and the the film crew wasn't obsessed with making every pore on the actors' faces visible in great detail.
Anyway whatever George had up his sleeves to make the prequels enjoyable films even with the flaws- Disney clearly doesn't have it, at least the part responsible for former Lucasfilm IP.

Ditto. I have yet to read any material with Ssi-Ruu in it, but I love them by default.
>This may sound stupid, but I think the prequels pull off making the CGI looking natural better than a lot of more modern films.
That's not stupid at all, it's true. This is especially true for Phantom Menace, where some of the scenes that are almost 100% CGI look great despite it still being in the pioneering stage at the time. Not sure what to compare with from the modern age since I've ditched Hollywood. The reflections off the Queen's ship are just stunning, even today, because of how the visual effect was used.

Some scenes are just there to be enjoyable. I don't mind that so much. I mean, does everything have to be a well oiled machine? Is it never okay to take a small diversion just to have a bit of fun?

The prequels do make me somewhat nostalgic for the days when "computer animation" was still novel, when a film's special effects were still a show piece, and it wasn't just expected that everything should look near perfect.

Compare Battle Droids to Transformers or the Prequel aliens to Marvel aliens, it was the simplicity and style that made the Prequels so enjoyable. You could still make good stuff with CGI, the problem is that everyone in charge in Hollywood has shit taste

CG will never be a spectacle in and of itself again. People will never again be wowed at "the clever things they can do with computers these days". That's kind of sad.

The same thing is true of practical effects too. When was the last time people were wowed by model shots? It doesn't happen anymore, because we just expect everything to look perfect.

Its a sign that they're scared. With the fall of the SW spinoffs and even the over-defensive admin of r/starwars going against Disney too, the remaining idiots are desperate to save this trainwreck even if it means becoming deranged. Despite it all, I was mad at the "lolsonerdy bazinga" normalfags who never missed a chance to shit on us and old SW and all the endless shilling and denial, but then I remember those happy normalfags who weren't in it for the "nerd" trend shit. Just family people who wanted to relive the charm. I remember seeing so many local schools and recreation centers doing star wars things and people renting out R2D2 dummies for events. Seeing that joy they had be sucked away by Disney greed feels almost as bad as when they destroyed our fandom and setting on that terrible day *that is now so long ago…**.

The final duel in RoTS was also a solid payoff, some issues such as spinning is a good trick, but overall a fun fight
