It's just so stupid that they're bringing in an old meme as a star wars character who is "fighting for droids' rights" even tho that was in the EU and done by C-3PO so waht's the point in making the EU noon-canon if you're going to fucking bring it back little by little.

To make disneycucks jizz themselves every time a reference validates their legends knowledge, while still buying shit again. You've seen how they react when a legends character gets revealed in a disney product, we've all seen their pathetic "OH YES! THANK YOU DISNEY FOR BRINGING THIS BACK" drivel. The amount of positive 'fan' opinion generated from that is one of the only things holding nu-wars together.

7331 is SASSY and FUNNY and INDEPEDENT.
Incidentally, why do they insist on independence? How does one compellingly show ‘independence’ in a drama? By not relying on or needing other cast members?

Because depending on each other is the basis for healthy relationships and family-building.

By doing things alone, or treating the rest of the cast as accessories, and never being in a true bond with somebody. See Rey's interactions with the rest of the protagonists, or lack thereof.

but the question is, why? Why would they do this? I have many theories myself as to why Disney, JJ, or Kennedy would actively want to kill Star Wars but aside from "artistic pride/being post modern for the sake of being post modern/this is what you get Lucas", I can't think of any reason why they would actively want to kill this franchise. The only sensible thing I can think of that isn't just out right insane which I think some of them are so I could buy that, is that this was done as a type of house cleaning. Since Star Wars exist, it blocked several other potential future franchises, so this is the long term game plan of finally shutting it down so they could make a new/strength marvel franchise profits.

The only reason is ego and the hope that changing something so greatly as to inspire a cultural revolution will get them immortalized. Same thing that happened with Ghostbusters. The media industry and Hollywood are in a kind of cultural echo chamber where the current hot topic is politics and societal bullshit, where its important to sacrifice art and quality for the sake of ideologies and personal vendettas.

Women had all the same rights, if not more, and they already had more than equal representation in SW, but that apparently wasn't enough. They had to go and fucking attack us and take away everything we enjoyed. Sure, part of me was kinda glad the EU was shelved and put in "Legends" because that meant it could no longer get the tumblr treatment. But now they're digging more and more stuff from it (especially Marvel) and making it worse. And their stupid ideological wars are asinine. They've already won and wrecked the western world. Isn't that enough for fuck's sake? Can't they just leave the things we love along? Oh what am I saying… They're rich spoiled snobs who enjoy being elitists and smelling their own farts.

That's just it, though. They need to be opposed, to feel like the edgy rebels, even when they're both legally and culturally dominant, on both a strategic and a psychological level. Strategically, this type of person will never declare victory over the enemies of "racism" or "inequality" because that would make their job irrelevant. Walls only make you feel safe if there's something on the other side, trying to get in. By the same token, you only "need" a group fighting for equality if there exists inequality; giving them more power and control is only justified in the eyes of the public if that power is necessary to correct some perceived wrong. Declaring victory means these people will lose their jobs and all of their influence, so they will never do it.
Psychologically, they're just incapable of admitting victory, because they're in love with their own image. Everyone likes a good underdog story, and portraying oneself as the underdog makes the following victory all the sweeter, and seem much more just. Portraying one's situation as desperate also makes it that much easier to justify sadistic and ruthless acts as necessary for survival and/or victory.

These people are narcissistic personalities. Narcissists don't follow logic or profit, they care only about what benefits their emotional desires now, they crave social outlets, Hollywood is a fucking megaton-sized social outlet- the mecca of narcs, and star wars reaches an audience of colossal proportions. You wonder why the paradox of Trends and Counterculture go hand-in-hand with the typical hipster SJW-type? Because they are both social outlets, they are sources of attention- the narc's ultimate drug.
To the SJW-narcs, Disney and Star Wars are potential gardens for growing the drug of attention and validation of their egos. The problem is that star wars demands care, love, and generosity. Narcs have no space in their world for any of this, Love to them is meaningless, Care is an abstract thing, Generosity is a tool to rope people into fear, obligations and guilt. There's no rationality, it's bullshit, it's lies, they should be removed from their jobs.
But the biggest problem with Narcs, is not just them, it's their enablers- it doesn't matter if it's an abused soyboy-fucktoy, their gossip-magazine/website cronies, or their sexually-bribed boss, enablers allow narcs to flourish. Disney is enabling these people, until someone starts handing out pink slips by the basket, the company will suffer. The depressives may think that Disney is too big to fail, but the titanic weight of star wars, its fickle merchandising, and the narcs in charge could crush Disney. Money only matters to the narc when it goes right into their pockets, just because their employer's making money doesn't mean they care, it's all about them.
If they can't have it, nobody will, If they want to crash this train, they will ram it full speed ahead and explode into a fireball of pain and suffering. Granted, doing that to something like star wars would be professional and social suicide- I seriously feel like if it is found out that someone is deliberately trying to kill star wars, the rage against them will be a few notches short of the hate that everyone's favorite dictators recieve.
Besides, I've been having premonitions that someone huge and famous will turn into a gigantic lolcow sometime. something that I am fascinated to find out who it will be.

Hollywood has always been full of ego fueled people. It's literally their dream location in every way possible. Nothing has changed in that avenue.
What has changed is that movies now have zero value. They're too easy to pirate and too many alternatives. Rage baiting is the only hope they have of holding people's attentions so they use it over and over.

This essentially. Her whole character felt like it was just created to show how progressive Disney is by not giving her armor boob space like some femtroopers in the comics. I remember when she was first revealed idiots on twitter started using her as a martyr to show why sexy armors in video games and anime were sexist and oppressive. Shit was followed by a bunch of fanart mocking sexy or even non-revealing feminine armors, in the same vain as Andrew Dobson's "Stop drawing sexist crap!"

I did not and do not intend to read the book about her, but she may have done something interesting besides commit treason against the First Order to save her own skin going by a plot summary I did read. JJ Abrams certainly didn't have any use for her besides striking non-gendered poses in marketing material and anything that could have come out of her character was subverted away by Rian Johnson's gonzo kino brilliant retardation.

Phasma only exists because of KK. She saw a concept art during TFA pre-production and said "I want that character in the movie. Make it female". It was just a random concept art, to my knowledge there's still no explanation for her shiny armor (some fans have claimed that her armor is blasterproof but then why would she be the only person to wear it and not give the tech to every trooper?).
Phasma was advertised as the next Bobba Fett but just like Disney don't understand Star Wars' success, they don't understand why Bobba Fett is iconic either. Fett is liked by the fans because he was cool and badass, not because George shoved the character in every scene and every merch possible.
>I remember when she was first revealed idiots on twitter started using her as a martyr to show why sexy armors in video games and anime were sexist and oppressive
I had a screencap from a Faceberg post on the official Star Wars page where a user was complaining about the lack of difference in stormtrooper armor design for male and female in EA Battlefront and one of the SW admins answered something like "wew sexism much?" I think I posted it here once, but I've lost the screenshot since

Even assuming it's some special prototype that hasn't entered mass production, it's still a bad story choice because it breaks up the uniformity of stormtroopers. Having them all in the same armor dehumanizes them, making them into implacable symbols of the Empire's might rather than people you can intimidate or bargain with. If the First Order starts giving troopers their own personal custom armor, even high-ranking ones, it makes them into individuals again, which ruins the effect.

>It was just a random concept art, to my knowledge there's still no explanation for her shiny armor
It was made out of the hull of one of Palpatine's space yachts. Its only value is being symbolic of the New Order that the First Order is supposed to worship. Kind of like if a neo-nazi made a messenger bag out of Erwin Rommel's tattered old uniform.
>they don't understand why Bobba Fett is iconic either. Fett is liked by the fans because he was cool and badass, not because George shoved the character in every scene and every merch possible.
I would not agree with that exactly. George by his own admission didn't get why Fett was so popular with the fans either but he really didn't give them much of a reason. Like what was supposed to happen for Phasma, it was basically the armor and posing. He had a few lines in ESB and got his shit kicked in easily by Luke in RotJ. It was all EU and side-story material that turned Fett into a Dark Horse superstar with Lucas' decision to just run with it because why not? Sells more toys.
Lucasfilm's mistake with Phasma has more been trying to tell us how cool she is and overbearingly meme her as Rule 63 Bob Fett while not only doing nothing to justify that notion but offering plenty that visually contradicts it. Fett's relative weakness in the movies could be attributed to him going up against a Jedi while he's still the only bounty hunter tough enough to prosecute a vendetta with Han Solo. Phasma is somebody we're just told is a badass with a past of high accomplishments but we only ever get to see her being punked and clowned on. The sequel era comic she was in portrayed her as a coward and a scoundrel. The story group's left hand and right hand don't know what they're doing and neither can find their asshole.
